Mistakes in him he has but he’s also got a lot of birdies in him oh it’s so thin The to win the match all right guys this is the big one the big match 18 home match play me versus guy here at Sadat Beach Abu Dhabi I’m excited about this one this guy’s been been running his mouth a little bit been chirping so we need to finish this

Debate he’s been chatting all this talk about he wants a match or he’s gonna beat me now and again he plays well he does but I think over 18 holes I’ve got him I’m excited about this match play here at Sadat Beach it’s an amazing amazing venue it’s roasting hot it’s

Going to be hot and sweaty but hopefully it’s going to be filled full of drama the only thing we got he’s a gritty player he can off from M par from anywhere and it does my head in so hopefully doesn’t do too many of those cuz that uh certainly knocks the wind

Out my sale if he does but I can make a load of birdies to combat it I’m going to beat I’m going to win this I’m going to beat him you watch this bace okay I’m excited I’ve been calling Rick out a little bit on the podcast telling him

Want to match I want to beat him you know what I can beat Rick however I’ll be honest now if we had 10 games in a row I might win two maybe three Rick probably wins seven he’s got mistakes in him he has but he’s also got a lot of

Birdies in him and that’s what frustrates me I’ve got a lot of Pars in me but I’ve also got a lot of lost balls in me which hopefully in match play isn’t the end of the world obviously in stroke play it destroys me it’s going to be close but the most important thing

Really genuinely when I have fun and I want it to go close at least they can’t have him beat me five and four or something it has to go down to the last hole if I lose an 18 thiro but I want to beat him no official play well play well

Enjoy I’m excited power four opening hole cracking hole bunker short right one long left I mean it suits a little fade but let’s just kick things off Match play 18 holes yes well it should be 18 holes right that’s the goal enjoy and play well you too mate carry that

Bunker didn’t did it get over it not sure it was a bit cuty I wanted to play a little cut but it was a bit too much either in the rough bunker or it’s over the bunker didn’t catch it well enough okay for me to have any chance today

This club the driver has to perform it has to so first hole little cut let’s get one down there oh it’s followed Rick that’s worse though okay I saw it hit oh not the ideal start that not the ideal start at all right pal we been waiting for this

Yes I’ve been waiting for this I think the audience have been waiting for this um you know what though I must admit most of the time we’ve played in Dubai so far we played really early in the morning or late in the afternoon today we’re going out in the middle of the

Heat that’s going to that’s going to play a part it’s it’s hard to concentrate it gets difficult it’s going to be a a battle today of golfing skill and also mindset it’s will of staying hydrated and seeing who can uh who can pull off some good shots in the heat I’m

Hoping I’m over that bunky yours should be somewhere in in this facility okay so my t-shot was a bit of a slice landed on the path we get a drop off the path so we are we’re playing serious but we’re not playing like absolutely super serious so we’re going

To take a drop closest point it’s about here it’s going to be in long rough it’s not ideal try and get a decent lie could have been worse could have been worse so I’m going to chip a pitch in my J try and play for the power on the

First hole nothing silly nothing crazy we’re going to lose holes Let’s Lose to birdies let’s try and move this a bit forward out this long stuff go on Big Bounce oh it near hit the path I know it’s actually done all right that it’s kind of exactly what I

Wanted really should have about 70 yards left in I think maybe yeah nice shot 162 yards actually found a nice spot on The Fairway here I was flirting with that bunker but it had enough juice on it to carry it I’m just going to hit a soft 79

In there keep it right side of the PIN oh if that shapes a bit more that’s going to be very nice yeah nice shot maybe a touch not too much Club but sad long but it’s very very literally the bang in the center of the green yeah I was aiming at that palm

Tree behind the hole Yeah to the right the hole left me some work to do now looks like I’m going to pretty much have to get up and down from there going be a tough tough school today okay so I’ve got 77 yards left in give or take

Measured it from the side but won’t be much different and this pin is an absolute horror if you leave it short it’s going to come right down off that false front and there’s not a lot of green uh not a lot of green to work with

So have to really play like an 80 yard swing which for me is a very kind of 34y 58 degree wedge I’m going have to put this close this is the thing with match plays it that if I put this really close which is a big if and have a tapping par

Rick could three put but equally if I put this nowhere near he’s easy going to just T put and just wrap up the hole so a lot of Mind Games needed today to try and beat him put this one close I think would really get in his head 80 yard swing come

On no that’s terrible almost shanked it that was a very very strange golf shot very strange okay so I’m on the Green in two um this first pin isn’t easy I’m hoping they’re not all in tricked up positions because this is front right on a little Plateau anything long can quite honestly

Go down the hill and fire away and I’ll be chipping for my next shot um just got to get the speed right going to have to annoyingly stay left of the flagz anything right could easily easily go off the green okay need nice two put winds well at least puts the pressure on

Him needing to hold is it’s not far off where I was actually trying to leave it as d as that sounds any anything right is just I have to see that one in unfortunately all right well that wed shot was bizar it was almost like a shank but from the toe

Was a very weird shot perfect for distance but weird so really this needs to go in come on up the hill off the right over Rick’s ball marker and into the hole no okay Rick pick it Up don’t even need to see that shot just cut cut the cameras cut the cameras that’s kind of to some degree what I was scared about yeah I well I had to go for mine that’s the difference really I had to just get that in the hole right first

Hole Rick takes an ear lead one up okay par five it the the Green’s over at kind of 1:00 it’s a huge bunker that starts at 140 yards on the right and quite literally goes for 250 yards all the way up the right hand side there’s a bunker

Right in the middle which is 284 yards away so really that’s in range now I’m going to go out the bunker and just just try and miss it just to the right stay on the grass I think that’s in the big bunker on the right I’m afraid the 250 yard

Long bunker on the right okay so I’m really in between clubs here where there a driver but I’m going to hit a three in just try and get the biggest part of the fway and just play this whole all fway that’s the uh that’s the objective hit this well on

The Range this morning this three iron which doesn’t mean much for me but I did so let’s try and uh keep it going let hit very well it’s not too far left is that in rof that or yeah it’s in those palm trees really I think from

This view it looked like it was but I don’t know oh my God I don’t know how far away they are okay not making this easy for myself so far um luckily I found my golf ball which is a win set very kind of high which is is nice in

One way but it’s also there’s that risk if it under the golf ball I’ve got this big leafy thing behind me let’s go down the left side yeah that’s all I could do really it’s going to be a long way in from there but it’s back in play at least okay so I

Found the bunker on the right bit of a weak t- shot to be fair but um to the actual pin I’m 243 yards away so if it would have stayed on grass I could have easily got there with that with three wood potentially I don’t mind the

Strategy though stick it down the right hand side going to hit this about 150 yards Leave Myself 100 yards in make birdie that way carrye oh now it’s back in the bunker I’m going to have a similar shot again I’m afraid not the best recovery

There okay so my chip outs of that long stuff has left me 234 it’s going to have to be a three wood I think well there is going to have to be a three wood so massive bunker left bunker right bit of wind into the face so try and smash a

Three-wood at the flag maybe just cut it off a fraction just get it up there put a little bit of pressure on Rick if I can that was an amazing strike he’s just going that trap on the left that was unlucky strike was really good at least i’ kind of got it down

There at least okay 107 yards left to the flag I’ve got I’m back in that monstrous bunker just look how long it is it is it’s probably 300 yards if not longer um so I’ve got a shot here 107 yards I’m going to go Gat wedge I’m

Going to stay right hand side of the flag looks like it kicks around to the left after it hits the green let’s just get a good strike away oh the strike was phenomenal that’s all over it oh super sharp thank you super sharp dancing around the flag

That felt nice that could have gone very badly but we’re good we’re on the green okay so that 3 of mine was honestly hit so well but I obviously pulled it a fractions this bunker so Rick’s there for three I’m here for three so any chance of having this hole this has got

To go close oh stop uh have to SN that one I think to keep this uh hole alive okay that bunker shot was not good enough certainly for the standards we need for this match unless I’m going to get destroyed it’s a shame bit of a wobble early on can’t say

I’m too surprised that I’ve uh started off a bit shaky but with whole this this would really uh say something it’s up the hill it’s off the right this is for parck is for birdie so even if a hold this he could still win the hole but putting this one in the

Hole would give him something to think about for sure I gave it a go I gave it a go yeah that’s a six I think Rick’s got the hole but I’ll let him have a chance for his birdie after being mostly on the desert this hole left to right down the

Hill he takes it with a par two down to ch I two up to Shields third hole coming up okay third hole par three just going to give it a quick zap nice start strong start so far two PS on the card two up in the bank okay 160 eight

Iron I’m just going to go just left of the flag all it’s tracking it’s got enough Club that’s tracking truth be told one guy’s G for another club that wasn’t the shot I was going for um I was actually going for the flag and then wanting it to come off the flag

Started right at the green and actually Drew back onto the flag so we’re in a good spot now Okay saw Ricks with an eight iron come up a tad short that was a good shot I’m going to go with a seven iron he’s right on line

So follow that one with one more Club should be pretty good it left lost that yeah pin High left well shot say pin high it’s very left but it’s okay okay these pins are quite tough today I think lag putting is very very important I’m going to try to obviously

Want a whole put but there could be a few three puts today so just try and Nestle this one up close get a gim me off Rick ideally yeah not bad it’s hard there cuz if you go past you down that’s what I mean it’s kind of like I’m happy with that where

Normally I’d be not very happy with that okay straight up the hill little bit right to left I can be a touch more aggressive than guy could be cuz I’m going straight back up the hill Oh oh Jesus liing a that was a mental lip out right nice PA from

Rick I’ve lost the first two from being stupid if I lose this one now it’s I’m a silly little p I’m ain’t going to lose this one though I need to bit of momentum for me so little bit of paint just come off the hole at the front there that’s my

Line yeah nicely done finally a half two down three three holes done nicely done I thought I had that then for a minute it was it was traveling a tiny bit too fast so it’ have been interesting to see if it hadn’t hit the hole it would have

Finished up but that horseshoe was uh was a real aggressive one par four fourth hole it’s pretty much just straight down this there’s not a lot going on good drive needed and you leave yourself about 100 yards left into the pin um the next few though after this a

Really really really nice hole so looking forward to showing you all that them straight down the orange kind of looks like the halfway house straight at that great shot yeah great shot thank you that’s the exact line I’m going to try and follow that kind of there’s like I said

It like shot Tracer lines in the distance aiming at that and if it does cut which is my shape I’ll be happy if it doesn’t then I’m still really good okay I don’t know I I don’t know okay so this is a part where I tell you that I’m

Playing bad to let Rick have a few holes Advantage um I’m too down might lose this will make it three down and then I’ll start playing um no I’ve got to hit a three-wood now that was a top off the T as you saw a nice three-wood committed swing let’s Advance it down

There it’s good hit really good hit I don’t know if that’s that trap is it good drive down the middle of the Fairway 110 yards left into the pin the pin looks like it’s tucked in the left corner so I’m just going to go get my distance control right and just go

Slightly right of that pin sit sit sit sit sit sit sit sit sit sit sit sit I think it’s good it look is it close that can’t I think it’s really good oh great shot I think so it looks skinny that might help it though a

Little bit spin on it have to pull my finger out as I said at the start don’t mind losing today as long as I put up a fight so far there’s no fight that’s got to change got 65 yards to the flag if I can put this close and redeem

Myself i’ be happy I know I’ve got bad shots in me I know I’ve got good shots in me now tell now calls for a good shot 65 yards that’s play more like 70 oh it’s so thin what that is not good at all okay this one really has to drop now

This is for a bogy to put anything even on Rick even attempt in his put if I miss this it’s absolutely ho over no you’re good mate you know what I’ve said on camera a couple of times Rick probably the third or fourth time now truthfully I don’t

Mind losing I want to win obviously I want to win but I don’t want to lose playing horrendous I know I got it I don’t want to lose playing horrendous I want to put up a fight I’m going to try my best now not let it get to me that’s

A beauty of match play I suppose that is the beauty of match play like if this was a stroke play oh the score card beig go like fny match like I mean anything can happen you get it backed by a couple yeah it back to one it gets starts to

Get close then okay fifth hle power for straight down as you can see there’s a big water has on the left huge bunker on the right um 380 yards might might require a positioning shot let’s have a quick look three Downs with them positions were it can go either way it

Can start obviously become four down five down six down and it’s just game over or you win a hole next thing you two down bit momentum then you one down before you know what you’re all square and then you you’ve got that real momentum in your corner so trying my

Best to not get annoyed just think about hitting good shots annoying but on the Range hitting it so well which I always say on the golf course if it’s a bit of pressure or something but swinging it badly reset mode now okay I’m going to go three

Iron I’m going to put one down there I want driver I’m quite happy to hit at the moment but the bunker on in the distance far right can easily capture any slight push shots so I’m going to hit three iron rifle one down there I can go as

Hard as I want at that bunker and I know I can’t reach it and it should be a mid mid mid iron into the green I’ll work that’s going to be a bit too far away from the hole that one yeah that’s that’s the thing isn’t it it’s I want it

And I in but it’s going to be a long way in so I’m going to try and hit a driver get in the bunker no is it a Lal Hazard it is so you’ll be able to drop it over the last point which is which is B it went over the

Corner that bunker yeah so you going be able to drop it near that bunker okay found the water unfortunately okay that iron shot was not the right choice in many regards cuz I’m a long way away but in the Fairway which is good 177 yards to the pin slightly into de breeze six

Iron in hand pin’s really tucked in that back right corner so I’m not going to play with that PIN I’m just going to finish it left of that pin is the plan what a strike oh great shot must admit that’s what I plan to do that sounds like you

Really thumped that then yeah was a good strike that one that’s not too bad okay right another silly mistake there um Rick’s put is quite close as well and I’m OB in three from here I really think if I I go to four down which is a chance

I will now that is the absolute Max I can go down I think it once start against the five Downs that is literally like just game over 146 on quite a big hill wind into the face okay I’m going to hit hit a little eight iron oh that’s going to come on have

Enough nice bounce yeah nice effort yeah it’s okay it’s a better golf shot bit higher on the face yeah it was a little bit annoyed I’ve made a couple of silly mistakes just not striking it well and again I S like a broken record I know but so many times

On a play I hit it well in the range before um so it just shows that it’s there but it’s having that confidence on the golf course to stand over a shot and hit it and that’s the hard thing to do it really is so again pull it back I’m

Going to go probably go four down here let’s be honest and can get it back to two down through nine go into the back nine with a real Challenge and real fight that’ll do me um I can’t get beat a silly score that cannot happen Okay so

This is now my fourth shot and it’s like a 60 foot PT with huge swing I need to hold it or need to put it close and hope and pray that Rick three puts which sounds a bit bad but it’s match play this one if I hit it too

Hard has got potential to go off the green again so let’s not get crazy he come on Roll Out roll out roll out roll out bad put okay birdie put here on number five uphill right to left I just got to go just inside guys

Marker two put wins it so I don’t need to be too aggressive yeah good p take it away win the hole thank you I have a little put for practice but that’s four down now that’s uh it’s asking a lot that right the good news is the next hole is

Absolutely incredible come on anything can happen the silly game you shouldn’t be egging me on to try and that’s that’s when you know you’re in a bad spot when your opponent is like trying to cheer you up this is what happens when I play against Tor Pros I embarrass myself and

Sloppy things as well but I think I will have good holes that’s the point it’s just that there’s a certain I think four down I said before that any deeper than that and it’s it’s a you can’t get out with it but I’ve heard this hole is a

Good one it’s part three and it’s absolutely incredible very excited for I’ve never played it once like eight years ago I still remember this hole so vividly hey look at this Sadat Beach what it’s called T at beach for we are literally par three on the side of the

Beach the sunbathers over there probably drinking Mojitos and all sorts of lovely lovely drinks right anyway part three uh pins back left let’s give it a little zap 2011 wind’s going to be off the left I’m going try and maybe draw a five or a six iron into the green

Okay I’m going to go six iron and we go heart the green and just just draw it almost back into the wind oh not Struck it well enough go but H it’s on the green but that’s a long way away okay so I’m going to go with a five

Iron saw Rick’s decent six there and it’s probably quite a big ass me to get there with a six I’m going to go for a five you know what I’m going to try and go right out the pin nothing for short here so let’s strike this one

Well it’s a bit skinny if it gets there it should be okay though yeah just inside very similar put coming up to Rick yeah twoo long long long puts coming up it’s the good thing for me here is we’ve basically got the same put and I’m about 10 12 foot closer

Than Rick so I’m going to read the green to myself but as soon as he hits his put I’ve got to get in behind and look what it does should learn quite a lot from this I need everything I can get in this match now even halves will be good just

To get a few halves under my belt and then hopefully chip away at that four four down I didn’t think I’d be four down so early on but got to keep fighting long put this it’s got to get about 3/4s of the weight drops down I can get it to that

Point at a reasonable speed it should Nestle in close two puts the goal yeah that’s not done bad at all that mate that’s a great po thank you that’s a very good po I think that’s good mate take that away thank you okay so nice two put for RI

There kind of aim it where his ball is now and then hopefully it’ll feed around yeah nice P very good whole halfed before we go into the next hole incredible truly incredible okay 7th hole Par Four we move away from the beach now par 4 440 yards I think it is

42 yards sorry slightly right is better than left and then let’s put one in there see if we can pitch one close like over it that’ll be absolutely perfect then won’t it yeah it should be good that should be really good good shot thank you right just took a little

Bit of a kick left which concerns me a tiny bit but we should be in a nice spot there okay could do with a nice drive here get the confidence up a bit that line of Ricks was phenomenal a nice bit of wind behind as well helping so let’s try and unleash

One it’s Unleashed it’s a bit right get down oh yeah it’s all right isn’t it that’s shadow of that tree just on the hill yeah on the shadow you say yeah yeah okay so we got 133 yards here bit of an awkward spot the balls quite a

Long way above my feet a bit of wind behind and this Li is probably to bit of a flyer as well so I think a 50° wedge is the club i’ normally hit probably a pitching wedge from here but I’m going to 50° wedge grip down

It try and get this on the Green need to grip right down it though name quite a long way right and then put a good strike on it ah nope wasn’t good enough really unlucky wasn’t good enough at all so after my t-shot I thought it was AB I

Thought it was going to be in this little section here I did noticed it kicked a little bit left and I think it’s kicked off this hill and come have a look at this this is an awkward little lie it’s kicked off that mound and it’s finished here and why I

Say it’s lucky and unlucky lucky in the sense it’s not gone in this proper proper deep stuff unlucky in the fact it’s finished there here fine they’re dead but it should have been over there anyway uh I can just about get a swing on it hopefully okay 115 yards got a gat

Wedge in hand after just seeing guys ball sure isn’t the answer so I’m going to try and get this past the flag oh didn’t think it was going to do that to be honest with you um it’s gone down into that horrible stuff on the left I really didn’t expect it to do

That it might be there a ball I’ve got it have you got it yeah found it but it isn’t pretty kind of annoyed that last shot I should have tried to cut across it more in my swing uh now I’m in the absolute Forest jungle the LIE is is

Horrendous anywhere on the green would be a bloody incredible shot it’s out that was really challenging four shot ah after a bad bounce making a bit of a hash of this hole see if we can get up and down just land it in that front section let it run up oh

Rick that was such a nice line as well okay mine One landed up there and came right back down this slope now i’ got a massive slope to try and deal with could use any club here I’ve brought a putter a 58° wedge and 99 in if I was just

Having a bit of fun I’d probably try and Float a 58 in that’s not the play here I’m going to try and bump under a 99 in land it on this hill and roll it up even like 15t away I’d be happy with to be honest with you so that’s the play just

Make sure give it enough it’s not brilliant but it’ll do I don’t want to come back down that slope okay I got to chip this one in for Five Guys not in for four yet so you never know this is where we need to try and capitalize now obviously Rick’s

Short game isn’t always the best and it’s not good to say I don’t want him to hit bad shots obviously but this is a hole I need to win need to get back in the fight Oh wrong kick oh it just kicked right on me okay

So this is for a four I think I’ve got two two puts for the hole so don’t do anything silly with this one it’s a nice put ni it close it’s very much a pace put this just put a nice stroke on it yeah it’s good well done good win

Back to three up oh bit of a bit of a hash of that hole forget about it and move on it’s not that nice to Wi a hole with a bogy but right now I don’t a win’s a win chip away at that now three down so targets

Get about to two down and then see what happens from there 8 power 4 460 yards quite a long one actually uh sweeps up round to the right hand side again tradition of this golf course or should I say the the popular thing of this golf

Course massive big bunker in play on the r side guys going with iron taking the honor yeah I it probably is a driver hole I think there’s that left part of the fway that the grain’s on the opposite side I think it’s out that and then worry about my

Next shot when I get to it strike yeah I’ll do it’s going to be a long way in from there but okay I’m going to go light side of the Fairway hold it on that light side it’s not going to carry it’s not going to carry that I’m afraid

Splash in the bunker on the right it was always the risk just wanted to try and keep it up against that wind off the left okay so I’ve got mine three in it’s kind of was a decent shot but I’ve got a long way which I knew it

Would have 204 yards left to the flag slightly uphill I’m going to go with a five I in left side is better than re there’s a bunker up there good strike is what’s needed little bit heavy go go go oh nice shot yeah it’s all right that it’s up

There I think one of my tactics right now and it sounds a bit sneaky but Rick’s a good driver of the golf ball he is but he can also spray a little bit and might hit a lot of irons off te almost annoy him hit irons 50 60 70

Yards less than him then hit the green put the pressure on it’s a tactic okay found this bunker on the right which I knew was always going to be the risk h driver there I’m 149 yards away lip luckily isn’t too penal ball set up okay right between eight and n n great

Strike oh no bunker right should have gone eight iron ah ah thought that was going to be plenty of Club damn okay okay after finding the bunker bit frustrating shot actually I thought I’d hit a nice maybe I shouldn’t have switched to 99 but I

Want to make sure I got out of that last bunker finding some sand today a nice bunker shot pins at the back yeah tough bunker shot always hard to get out super close okay I’ve got a very long putt here I guess it’s 50 or 60 foot with a big slope about

Halfway and it comes kind of downhill a bit this is very much a pace put again not even thinking of holding this one obviously just trying to get it within the length of a golf club I think would be that would be good i’ be happy with

That yeah okay up the hill right to left it’s good for Speed as well well maybe a little bit more needed Al it’s a 35 in putt cuz my putt is 34 in it was just a tiny bit longer never in doubt well done two holes cut the deficit in half just two

Up through eight holes okay par five um my driver’s not performing ly well and I’ve got a bit of confidence I’m going to hit Three Wood it’s lots of bunkers again down that left side and hopefully catch a good one that’ll work it was not a good hit Rick but it’s gone

Exactly where I was kind of waned it to I’ve got to play ugly sometimes I’m very ugly player at times okay at guys ball with just a tiny little fade let it ride on the Wind last last two holes forget about them still two up in the
