Slight delay back I thought was it yeah everyone’s ready running around mic’s turned on you all good okay all right Padre thank you for joining us here at the colard classic by exact Sciences how’s it feel to be here this week yeah it’s always nice uh to play in the

Desert and you have good time of the year to come and uh golf’s ideal the conditions are the go course in perfect condition as you always expect when you come to the desert so uh it looks like a a very nice week indeed yeah had you played here before this week never

Played this course before I think the last time Tucson the old match play went we used to be up here uh but yeah the course is is is exactly as I expected a very high standard uh not a long golf course but in very good condition the

Difficulties around the greens uh a lot of slope around the greens so uh you wouldn’t want to miss too many greens it’s awkward you know there as said with the slopes you can get up and down but you know you don’t want to leave yourself that too many many time so uh I

Think because of the good good greens the scoring will generally be pretty good because of that go ahead guys how would you compare it to H yeah you know I’m not one for comparing I think this is a really nice golf course it’s it’s in great condition

It couldn’t be better it’s a nice setup the roof is maybe a little heavier than we would normally have a champion store events which I’m happy about uh it’s not the biggest of golf courses uh so it’s it’s not going to be too long H so that

Will give everybody a chance but I’m hoping that the little bit extra rough and maybe the difficulty and the greens would suit me when you have it course this tight how much does strategy come into play on a really placing every shot yeah there is going to be strategy uh

You know there’s not going to be a lot of wind but the little bit of wind can change those holes so yeah off the tea you got to got to know your numbers I I think and and maybe being a little bit conservative times into the greens as in

The I do think I wouldn’t say while the course is tight it’s not there’s not a huge amount of water or drama with that tightness it’s it’s a bit of rough and desert which is never great but desert is better than out of bounds or water let’s

Say so H I think precise iron play is going to be the key this week a good good not putting yourself under too many pre too much pressure by hitting lots of greens giving yourself lots of chances of birdies uh you know you don’t want to

Be out position so yeah strategy is very important you mentioned being conservative in your approach to the green is the mountain slope a big part of that because you can leave yourself some really as Pros we ignore that stuff h no we go purely by what we see well we

Play practice rounds to get a feel for on what we see I I know what you know in general but it’s a Nicholas golf course if you go out to any of those greens there’s some big slopes going in the opposite directions uh so yeah may maybe

If it was a very straight P you might take the mountain into consideration but for us you know and especially out here there is a lot of slope in the green so in general we’re just going to play with what we see in front of us you’re still

Playing PG tour events what’s the biggest difference between those events and what do you have to do prepare for you well you know personally I’d be under a lot a lot more pressure and stress at a PJ Tour event you feel like you got to be absolutely on your game from the word

Go H out here you know you know you’re here there’s no Cuts so you know you’re here for the the three days so you you’re a little bit more patient out here H and because of that you probably play a little bit better so yeah there there’s a different in Attitude for sure

I think uh style a golf course yeah the pins would be a bit tighter on the PJ tour and obviously the coures would be longer but the longer bit doesn’t bother me at all I I I I I it’s irrelevant actually the length of a

Golf course to us out on the tour so uh it’s much more to do with the probably the tighter pin positions and just being under a little bit more pressure by the fact that the standard is really good in the PGA Tour I want to ask about the

Instruction videos you make you remember when you first started doing those and you remember the inspiration for wanting to do those yeah it just started doing it during co uh I’ve always liked coaching I love playing I actually like playing my prams and and giving a few

Tips out there I I think every golfer I think I should be able to get every golfer in the whole wide world to a single figure handicap I think that’s a very reasonable goal to get oh yeah yeah I think you know it’s hard to be a plus

Figure scratch golfer but you know to get to nine it’s not that hard it’s it’s when I say it’s not that hard there’s some simple things you can do that can get there and and that’s what my video are mainly focused on I’m really just trying to help the weekend warrior get

To a a level where you know if you’re a single figure golfer you can walk into any Clubhouse with your chest expanded and go you know it’s a level of achievement and and you know that’s what I’m focused on I started doing it in co uh because I like doing it it was

Something to do I tried to post a video every day H kept it to a minute and then obviously we expanded it to now doing it on YouTube on Patty’s golf tips so uh yeah it’s h it’s enjoy it’s a great way to get to the you know to get access to

The public directly and as I said when it comes to Gulf you know people who come to golf especially athletes who come to golf they seem to have some crazy ideas H you know about keeping your head still or keeping your head down or swinging slowly God that’s like 100% I

Think won’t be 100% but 99% golfers would be better off doing the exact opposite of what they think and it would be better H you know just swing away that’s probably the best advice you can give and H you’ll just get used to it and and time it after that rather than

Yeah they try and get good too quick too early look we could talk about this all day there’s a million million quotes on it but have you have you ever got feedback though on on a post that really kind of warmed your heart like I yeah

All the time yeah all the time I I I get I get some great feedback more oneon-one and personal I I’m sorry to say it is social media so you try not to read comments you know I know my comments would be pretty positive but still you know it’s it’s

H I think that can be the the for the guys who get involved in social media that can be the downside when you get too involved and what the the feedback and the comments so I I have somebody else who goes through that and we we

Kind of collate it uh but yeah no I I I love when people and it’s happening more and more when people come up to me and say they they like my videos it’s helping uh one of the pros do said it to me inside there one of my fellow

Competitors said he’s really helping him I was just going to ask anybody your colleagues come up to you and yeah yeah know that said just as I was literally walking out the door Pro said to me the step one really is helping them H I just

Did a recent one with stepping in your swing to try and get uh the proper sequence in of the movement H and remember I said movement you don’t stay still when you’re swinging a golf club you got to move uh so yeah yeah it’s nice for the pro even though I’m not

Trying to make these lessons for fellow Pros I’m trying to make them as I said for uh beginners and people who are kind of stuck in the game who aren’t improving and and you know trying to get them across that threshold of of you know being able to break 80 be a single

Figure golfer can you uh see the foot traffic kind of around here and you know everything kind of involved in the Pro the last couple days do it give you a visual of how especially this 156 17 18 Amphitheater is going to look over the weekend with all the spectators and

Everything around there yeah you know the big thing about the championship tour is when we come to venues that aren’t necessarily serviced by the PJ tour and you come here and you can see it’s a bigger event you know they’re preparing for decent side crowds hopefully big crowds and and that’s the

Key for the Champions T we can we keep going to to to cities that don’t regularly have a PGA Tour event we get a lot of Spectators coming out uh you know we’re the only show in town when it comes to golf so that you know it’s

Looking like this is going to be a a a very well-received week in tournament as regards the fans coming out and look we’re still players we love playing in front of of of crowds and Spectators we we don’t want to be out there when you

Know you don’t want to be out there at the end of the field with nobody watching you want to be at you know right in the prime groups with you know hitting shots and it’s the whole idea of the championship it’s giv players an opportunity to relive the the great

Shots they hit in the past to hit a shot Under Pressure to really have that sort of excitement and and as I said hopefully uh you know for a moment feel like a player again forgive me if you answer this question a million times the last year but what does it

Mean you know it is an interesting one cuz when you grow up in Ireland we we didn’t have hall of fames wouldn’t have known anything about them but once you become a get out and tour you hear more about it and you see it more as a as a

Something you want to be because you know your peers are there you want God I want to be there I want to be a Hall of Fame player and and certainly as I’ve H got older as a tour player that’s has been very much a goal of mine very much

On my radar and I’m H it’s going to be really nice it’s a it’s a bit of a you know again as you get older you appreciate the accolades a lot more I think when you’re when you’re a young guy and you’re winning you think you’re

Going to keep winning all the time and you you just keep going with it but uh as you get a little older you realize to uh to stop and enjoy the moment I’m fous if you follow the dayto day PG tour Li golf all this stuff back and forth fracture is there something

Going on I no idea yeah of course I follow it if you detach a little bit or I I there is definitely a Detachment out here for sure amongst the players as in they’re away from it the fact that I go back to the PJ tour and I’m right in

Amongst it and uh pretty much a lot of my friends went to live so you know I I I also have a good few guys out there who who I I I would be friendly with h guys that you know are captained in the wrer cup and played with in the wrer cup

So you know I I can see both sides of it h you know in the end of the day I played the majority of my career when there was two strong tours and there was a bit of rivalry and a bit of competition so I I’m not I wouldn’t be adverse that that

Being the future where there’s two tours and and you know who doesn’t love a little bit of competition and niggle you know when you you whatever football team or whatever team you follow you know you follow one team and you’ve always got a little bit of an edge get another team

So I don’t mind the Rivalry H you know I think the biggest thing for going forward for the PGA Tour is you know there has to be some way of capping you know can’t to steal all our players sort of thing you know so you know I don’t I

I have you know players will always make a choice individually what’s right for them but I think the tour has to you know there’s very few businesses in this world where there isn’t some sort of a h non-compete sort of clause and you know if somebody wants to leave well the tour

Should get the money not the player sort of thing I don’t know that that would be my thing I don’t mind the competition I don’t necessarily see H I don’t think it doesn’t look like there’ll be any sort of golfing merger in the near future so

You know why not have it a little bit like the old European tour and PJ tour where there’s a little bit of competition and it certainly is good for the fans when there’s when there’s rivalries it Tri down to this there’s potentially guys that yeah that’s true yeah yeah supp I

Haven’t really yeah that that is true there’s players that uh I I’m not against you know some sort of uh transfer back and forth you know I I I played Mexican open there in the PJ tour a couple of weeks ago and and I’m sure they would have loved to have Abra and

Hanser play so I’m not against having a a small amount of invites and and that cuts both ways you know if a if a live event went to a you know a certain Market where they they don’t have home players you know I’m sure they’d like to invite those

Players in that country so again if the European tour is in in Spain this year we’d love to have John Ram play to Spanish o so I’m not against small amount of transfer of players playing events and you know you know maybe a couple of invites going each Direction

Maybe even you know a an outside team playing every week in live for why not uh but again I I I not too sure how they’re going to come together as one tour so why not have a an agreeable two tours where there’s a bit of

Rivalry what do me last one go for what does it mean uh to you knowing that players are also going to be playing in honor of cancer survivor those yeah no it it’s it’s a it’s a big deal for the players we we actually

Maybe as we get older this is the way it goes but we do appreciate that every week we’re playing for Charities H this week you know it’s it’s cancer and cancer survivors cancer awareness I lost my own father to cancer H you know I think every family it’s impossible not

To be touched by it so it’s nice that we’re doing some good you know we make great money we were out here we’re living the life nobody I don’t know anybody that wouldn’t choose to live the life we’re living out here playing golf and getting

Paid to do it h so it’s nice that we actually can sit down and also say we’re doing a little bit of good with it raising some awareness uh this week and and uh you know hopefully we’re all sort of representing one uh colon cancer survivor battler at the moment so this

Week so you know it’s nice that we can we can help we can be part of it and uh you know as players we we actually do appreciate it because obviously everybody else is doing the work to put us in this position and and we kind of

Swan Swan in and take the glory but we do appreciate the fact that we are uh making a difference in the communities that we play in that we we’re actually helping out uh with Charities cuz you know we are doing so well it’s nice you know if you’re

Looking yourself in the mirror in the morning you know it’s nice to be able to give back as well very good thank you padrick appreciate thank
