And at the plate he feels smooth and so like everything he does is fast and so I like I enjoy watching him play so far it looks like he has kind of solidified himself in the early portion of the Season as a second baseman uh I would
Think so that that and again it’s not to say that you’re going to play every night and they’re going to move stuff around but yeah I would say that that definitely feels like the case uh give me your number one or just not number one but give me anything that jumped out
To y’all for me I think Brady Neil continuing like to to have whatever catcher you put out there produce and we’ve talked about it all season long in the early portion of the season but to have three guys that you feel like you can count on and
He hits a bomb last night and just to have the ability to to move those guys in and out and feel good about whoever’s in that position and then if trinsky catches you can DH somebody else and it just feels like it’s already such a strength for LSU that’s paying you know
Paying off for them yeah it uh it warmed my heart to see trinsky on base for the first Brady Neil home run the catchers uh teaming up one of so he ends up with two he is three on the year now uh I I was interested to hear the broadcast say
That I I didn’t realize this that matches his season total from last year so what we nine games in he’s already got three and 20 something last year he had three so yeah the the the ceiling for Brady Neil continues to get higher and higher uh Taylor lre what about
Yall the ability to get on base by any means necessary so you look at the box score and you’re like oh 16 runs on 11 hits they were great you’re not always going to have 11 hits they had 10 walks they had five hit by pitches sometimes
In baseball you’re going to have to manufacture runs a little bit right walk get hit by a pitch steal some bases kind of manufacture that scoreboard a little bit they have the ability to do that as well as hit the ball so even when the hits aren’t there double digit walks and
Five hit by pitches that that was my biggest takeaway well uh and that’s maybe one of the that that leads me into something I want to talk about which is Paxton cing who has one of the oddest um stat lines that I think I’ve ever really seen he goes one for two
With two runs scored but he has four ribbies he he gets uh he has one walk I think he got hit by a pitch twice yeah he ends up with two sack flies he had a stol base really stuff in the stat sheet but yes like as your leadoff guy you
Just want to find any way possible to get on base and he found three different ways uh and and he managed to produce uh when he had people on base which you always love to see your lead off man do as well alandre anything jump out to you
I mean the whole team just looks great Kate Anderson looked really good last night too I mean uh he gave up he didn’t give up three runs the they those were not earned runs his um there was those were errors so five innings yeah that third inning it didn’t do anybody any
Favors but Kate Anderson looked great came back from it stru out like the other b seven strikeouts and five innings pitched and I don’t even think he I don’t know how many pitches he had but he didn’t have like a high no only had 82 and that’s and and that’s with an
Inning that again he had to work his way out of that inning went completely right what all ended up happening only one walk you had the um you had the drop ball in right field you had the misplay fly in left that fell in between uh Tommy White and who’s playing left last
Night Pearson no no uh um bam you had milum you had milum yeah that’s right you had Mila make a great play but then like we said barely missed that throw to first or you could say bear missed the pick whatever you want to say but what I

Strength coaches the travel the head coach and ownership now the nflpa makes this uh very public when it’s done and it’s very easy to read very easy to get to very easy to find and and look and and and they say look this is not about shame this is just about showing areas
In which you can improve and to be fair um it causes teams to act right like that is that’s that that’s it’s it’s hard to argue with the NFL PA doing this that it’s not a good move because a lot of times even after year one you would
See a situation in which uh somebody would like okay uh that this sounds really dumb but like the Chiefs had stools in the locker room the players wanted chairs they had chairs the next year there were teams that didn’t have like family waiting rooms in the stadium
For families they had it the the the year after right and so it has been an agent of change um let’s look at how the New Orleans Saints check in and then let’s look at kind of the NFL as a whole so the Saints uh suffer a bit of a drop
In this year’s rankings they were 10th out of 32 teams last year that is down to 19th out of 32 teams and uh perhaps one of the greatest ironies in our Sports Talk market for the second year in a row the Saints score dead LA or I
Guess they weren’t dead last this year but score an F in the food SL cafeteria portion of the equation last year was an F minus they were 32nd this year they’re 30th uh they don’t offer three meals a day uh they don’t have I think they’re
One of like two teams to do that um or maybe the only team they they they don’t have very healthy options to player say and they don’t have very quality options either so in in a city uh defined by food in so many different ways in a
State in a culture uh the New Orleans Saints are the worst in the NFL that that is a little bit surprising and the three meals a day I’m trying to think I know in San Diego we got two Denver we got three so I’m not sure how every team handles that it should
Probably just be three yeah now I mean that’s that’s everybody’s doing three now basically that’s why it’s a highlight that this when you get there like you’re eating breakfast everybody has lunch and then like you got to have something for them to at least like pick
Up and go for dinner um it’s a billion you know that’s highly disappointing they got too much money they got too much money so that’s disappoint in but most fans are going to be like n kind of whatever right now uh to be fair if you
Look these up the Saints got a D+ on treatment of families however that’s a bad grade but it’s kind of in line with the NFL uh that ranks them at 20th so they’re not like some outlier bat like apparently all players in the NFL just feel like the teams and organizations
Should have better communication with their families and should um should be better uh they score very highly in the locker room Department um or not very high but 12th in locker room feel like they got enough space and everything uh in the training room it’s all the way up
To Fourth cold tub hot tub setup’s great um they appear to like the training set that’s 15th the weight rooms 14th string coaches 14th uh Team Travel was one of their High marks nobody shares rooms uh seventh which apparently that’s phasing out now too yeah which I’m sure when you
Were there the young cats always had to bunk up uh so for the Chargers it was two years I think if yeah your first two years like you were going to room with somebody you could buy yourself out of it um and on home games like you had the option even if
You were a veteran player and so me and Tolbert like we didn’t care so like on home games we’d room together and then away games I’d have my own room when I was a veteran player so you can buy your way out of it it was it’s the numberers
Like actually stupid High yeah the bug if I read a number today I think it was the bucks or somebody it’s like 1750 17 1750 Do It um yeah so it’s like I’m not I’m not paying 1,500 bucks like me and to are boys like we’ll just we’ll room
Together it’s not that big of a deal well and again it it it’s like okay somebody says dude these people have money like go buy food I I feel you on that but again put yourself in the employee shoes I mean every employee always feels like so does LSU football

Money to pay for that but at the same time what employee has ever looked at their employer and been like yeah I’ll willingly pay for this uh no like you’re a billion doll company your your franchise worth multi-billion dollars hard pressed to feel like I should pay $2,000 have to use a roommate
Which to be fair the Saints did not do when you go on a business trip do you expense your room or do you pay for it no the company pays for it or if you pay for it you expense it later on they pay you back yeah you don’t get
Payback that ,750 that the Bucks are paying so yeah you can say how much money these players have but in every other job in America they pay for the hotel room I mean yeah it’s just simple right I mean nobody’s ever been like I wish my employee would cover less than
My living costs uh so of course players are going to strive for more um now let’s get to the big thing here though because head coach is on the list yeah um who do you think came in last in terms of head coach and it’s funny because they scored very highly
Everywhere else because they got a brand new stadium that’s incredibly nice oh the Raiders yes has to be McDaniels is terrible so this was asked in the McDaniels era and McDaniels was 32 out of 32 absolutely hated and loathed by that locker room unfortunately does not exactly represent
A ringing endorsement of Dennis Allen either now Dennis Allen comes in at a B minus but to show you that players are kind of you know that sometimes it’s less about the letter grade and more about where you rank because like one thing I thought was kind of funny is like
Uh the string coach has got an A minus to the Saints but that makes him 14th what that tells me is Meatheads just love their string coach yeah and that’s how I feel about my sh coach yeah because like you work with 24/7 right so for the most part people are pretty
Respectful of their head coaches B minus sounds good but then it goes to 29th and then it says 84% of players feel that head coach Dennis Allen is efficient with their time that’s 22nd overall and um The Players feel that Dennis Allen is somewhat willing to listen to the locker room that is
28th overall especially interesting given the drama at the end of the year uh the players now directly speaking to a disconnect that we all kind of knew was already there that’s not good Bob no that is that is not good but I mean that’s that’s what we’ve known like that’s not
A surprise and like you just laid out like whenever all that happened with the Falcons at the end of the year like even the most like veteran players that are the face of the franchise type guys didn’t stick up for Dennis Allen yeah they all stood behind jamus Winston
Every single one of them to a man right they had his back before they had their head coach’s back so it’s that that’s not surprising at all like in fact like Cam Jordan was mad like he’s like I would have scored again on the Falcons if I could
Have um yeah so uh look da is not going anywhere uh and but they got this just kind of underscores the fact fact that they got some work to do in terms of repairing some of those relationships and getting those players to believe in uh in Dennis alen and and and what he
Can accomplish with this team um let’s uh some other interesting Parts the Kansas City Chiefs 31st overall the only thing they like is the head coach I saw that even the owner got an F so well because I think it it all trickles down from Clark huntting company right I mean
I would be uh they feel like we’re bringing back all these riches we’re winning Super Bowls and yet we have bad facilities we don’t have like all these other people have nicer stuff like what is going on here incredibly cheap on the chief’s part that they wouldn’t have

Going uh to upgrade our locker room at Qualcomm and we’re like okay yeah all right sounds great like we we need it it this is bad down here and so we come in and so they used to have like kind of a carpet that looks like we have here in
Studio just you know your basic carpet nothing crazy well they changed it out and they put powder blue carpet and they had like an 18inch TVs that were hanging up and they went to like 27in TVs and like three of them that was the upgrade powder blue carpet and three 27 in TVs
They’re like hey what do you think hey they honored their their their word right theyed the showers the hot tubs the cold tubs the lockers the training tables everything was have the uh do you have the uh the boat motor like on a Major League like literally probably
Almost um Daniel Basham says that’s some Next Level manipulation it’s y’all’s fault for not having nicer things because y’all keep winning like that that is some that is some toxic relationship level of uh like victim blaming there yeah um other other uh things we we mention McDaniels uh the Dolphins the number one
Team in the league the Vikings right behind them and apparently those two basically represent outliers yeah uh everybody else kind of lagging far behind though the next grouping was Packers third and then Eagles Jags Niners Texans right there all kind of grouped together what’s interesting
About that to me is those are all I mean winning franchises right there is correlation between some of the more consistent franchises in uh the NFL and uh where they kind of score on this list and so much about the Dolphins as Mike McDaniel so much about uh the the the

Get anybody up speed that’s not um so the 12 team playoff is under contract for two more years uh ESPN and the cfp have a deal agreed to in principle for what I think eight years beyond that and it increases uh it’s it’s it’s over a it’s a doubling of the original price
ESPN was paying I think they were paying 600 million now it’s going to be 1.3 billion that’s the number we gave a couple weeks ago yes um so they have a deal agreed to in principle what they don’t know in that 1.3 billion perear contract is what the actual playoff will
Look like like the 12 team playoff has only set up for two more years after that we don’t know the shape of it okay so right now they’re trying to hammer that out uh so they can go ahead and finalize this deal with ESPN ESPN’s threatening
To take the deal off of the table if this isn’t handled to bill hok says we have to figure it out within a month so they’re trying to figure out the shape of what it will be and in just an insane turn of everybody trying to get what
They want which again that’s how this country works like we we don’t I I don’t fault anybody for that even if I don’t always love the results um you have you now have a situation where it is being widely reported that a 14 team playoff seems to be gaining the most momentum
And look I my reaction surface level to this is that it’s awful um way too many automatic qualifiers makes it feel as if everybody’s just kind of getting an in like just just getting invited um seems to take away from the regular season kills Conference Championship Games
Completely but look I don’t know do you all actually agree with those takes when you start to read deeper so I’m not sure that I agree with my initial reactions but uh it’s still on the surface so I I just don’t love it so correct me if I’m

But right now they still have the byee right like if you win your conference you get a buy I think that matters and I think that makes the conference Championship matter and I like Conference Championship Games cuz I think conference championships matter like I think it’s a huge accomplishment
To win one of the big boys um I mean I know for us in school like yeah you want to win a Natty but if you didn’t like SEC title meant a whole lot you get a ring yeah I mean you get a ring even win the best conference in football yeah so
So I I I guess here’s what I’m struggling with I like to try to be eloquent and have good arguments and you know try to convince people of my thoughts and whatnot and I don’t have a great argu argument against 14 besides I just don’t like it I don’t I like I I

Right what is the the the main area and it’s weird right because you’re kind of you have to almost grasp at things at this point because your team has played so well but what do you feel as a team team your main area Improvement you want
To see is to get you ready for what will be a brutal SEC Gauntlet I think we’re in a good spot honestly I know that never comes out of my mouth but um that doesn’t mean we don’t have things to do better but I think we could just continue to build on
Some of the things we’re already doing well like just continue to increase it like our swing decisions at the plate like that’s swinging at strikes right seems simple but it’s really hard concept when you’re facing good pitching so we have some really good numbers there and our swing to so keeping to
Like make that a priority and and increasing that I think would be awesome I think that’s a big reason for the success of the offense here that Howard and Bryce and Sandra have worked so hard on every day on just making sure that they’re swinging at the right pitches I
Think if we continue to do that our offense is going to be really hard to beat coach what’s the biggest challenge in playing six games in three days like you have coming up here in the purple and gold challenge it it is a challenge I’ve I’ve been thinking about it all week and
Trying to be really careful with them at practice making sure that were healthy and rested and you know trying to make sure they’re full go it’s going to be a challenge six games across three days is going to be tough you know and I thought we were a little tired last Saturday too
Um I called upon them to be a little tougher on Saturday and we got that huge performance out of Ray chaen who is definitely one of our toughest players um you know one of our most competitive players and just went out and showed us what toughness looks like so um it’s

Because I I know so much of this team is defined by the leadership and I feel like Newan is someone that we generally don’t talk about all the time in uh in this setting well you should because she’s awesome she’s just kind of the I think
She’s ended up in her career is kind of like the Jack of all trades you know so um maybe hasn’t had some of the opportunities to like be up for as many awards because she’s been playing 800 different positions right um but she’s always been willing to do anything it
Takes for this team she is hands down one of our leaders she’s so smart and intelligent she’s getting community service awards every time you turn around she’s just a good human it’s easy to pull for her so and the second home run she hit for my youngest daughter so
That was important you know we were playing her favorite hit this one for kley grace and I’ll be that thing went out of the park so you know yeah maybe maybe you can let her play a single position now coach sheesh no I’m just kidding kid I’m just
Kid she has this year she has so and that’s why we’re seeing such great things we are definitely better when she’s in left field because she’s so talented out there and also better when you have a healthy Taylor Pleasants I mean that’s something we talked about a
Ton last year and obviously dealt with some injuries and trying to get her on the field and even when she was you could tell like she was gritting through it and maybe not fully healthy like what does it mean to have her out there Healthy Back leading the
Charge yeah I think she is really the best of the best I actually got a voicemail from our favorite skip burtman here yesterday that said I think Taylor Pleasants is the best softball player I’ve ever seen wow there skip dude and I thought well if the goat
Thinks that then I’m I’m not crazy to think that myself you know um she’s just so special in so many ways and um just she’s grown as a leader on top of how talented she is so um I think any coach would kill to have a Taylor Pleasant on

Postseason team always right on the cusp of being the top 25 um MCN has played well lately they’re always tough um Louisiana Tech always a good game so and then Illinois brings Z Tyra Perry who is a awesome former tiger she’s the head coach of Illinois one of the first tines

Anderson um because obviously right just another Lefty there seems to be a limitless supply of them on this team this year uh but what I want to talk about is what you saw mentally out of Cade last night where he has the the the the smooth start and then the third a
Few defensive wobbles lead to you know an inning that it ends up having to work a little bit but then I felt like he came back in the fourth and immediately kind of refound that Rhythm uh what did you learn about the Freshman last night
Yeah I have a lot of faith in Kade he’s obviously very talented uh not for his injury and high school he probably would have signed a professional contract and not been here at LSU so you know the talent there I think just the more I can
See you get to know him you see what makes him good though is the character and makeup even that inning we gave up three uh we made an error and then he immediately came back got ahead one two and then I don’t know what the deal was
With the lights like last night like we couldn’t catch the ball in the air they couldn’t catch the ball yeah it was super bizarre um and so we didn’t make a play but then he struck struck a guy out and then the next inning came out and it
Was like good morning good afternoon and good night and U he’s he’s gonna be really get here for a long time and Coach another young player that I want to highlight is Steph myum everything that he does is fast but nothing is rushed it just looks like he has a plan
Before the ball is hit to him and he has a plan at the plate just doesn’t look like he has a freshman mentality no he’s he’s a ball player uh he’s a kid that I’ve known since he was in seventh grade so that tells you how
Long he’s kind of been on the radar of you know college coaches and that type of thing and just one of those guys that build his whole life around baseball uh has no fear in what he’s doing and is coming in competing at a high level and
Been a really good uh lift for our team uh coach um you you you talked about in the past but like obviously so much of of of your expertise uh lies at the plate right and and the importance of the leadoff man it seems like Paxton cing has been on fire
Really all year long but seems to be almost getting better by the game finds three different ways of getting on base last night uh did did did you I mean surely you start him obviously right like how did you feel about Paxton kling’s offseason were you expecting him to have this much
Early success as we’ve seen well he’s really talented he’s one of those guys you just kind of keep working with working on and when he has that kind of athletic ability you know it’s going to click at some point and so we’ve made a good good breakthrough I
Would say and uh there’s certainly more to do but uh he is so talented that you know even when he’s not perfect he can impact the game with his speed and with his defense and he has power now it’s just making that you know be skill you
Know over and over and over again again where if he does that he’s going to be a dominating caliber player and so I think we’re seeing some of that right now and really excited about it he improved his mindset and uh we’re seeing some of the fruits of all that work that Paxton’s
Put in coach uh you know nobody ever wants to lose any games and I know you especially are are very hard pressed about that when when when it comes to pushing your team to treating every single game you know really being present matters the most um how do you
Feel though your team responded last week uh to the first time of of of being on the other side of that win loss Ledger yeah I think they did a good job you know we have this thing you know you hear about like a I don’t know what
Football coaches call like a 24-hour rule celebrating you’re going to celebrate for 24 hours like in baseball there there’s failure like you’re not going to win every game so we just want to show up the next day and like kind of trick the other team with our energy or
Body language our attitude that wait a minute like I thought we beat them yesterday like they don’t look like it had any impact on them at all and they’ve done a good job of that and and they’re certainly improving that you want to do and as much as us coaches
Would like to have all that come where you’re winning every game sometimes losing a game captures their attention a little bit more and that’s that’s just human nature and hopefully you know that’s part of what’s happened I think we’ve improved um the last couple games and uh hopefully we’ll see more of that
Going forward coach something were talking about before you hopped on was the catcher position and we’ve talked about it before having three guys but last night like Hayden gets on base multiple times he drives in a run Brady Neil has a couple of home runs he’s got
Five RBI it’s such a unique situation so like when you have that and these guys are all playing well Alex comes in as well like what goes into maybe deciding who is going to be behind the plate that night is it is it a situation like the
Old Atlanta Braves like jav Lopez would be the guy and then Eddie Perez would catch Greg matics like is it going to be by pitcher or just by field no there there’s some of that by pitcher like I’ll give you an example like if a pitcher likes to throw to like
A bigger Target yeah then you’d want to go with Hayden you know what I mean because he bigger physically that would be one like small thing that yeah wouldn’t necessarily make the decision but I would take into consideration obviously there’s the pitching matchup on the other side there’s the rest
Matchup there’s how we could deploy them throughout the game you know if teams are going to be more right-handed or left-handed out of the bullpen uh are we is the wind blowing out on a particular day is it blowing in um there’s a lot of stuff that goes into it I’m just I’m
Very thankful for all of those guys they all bring something a little bit different to the table and you know I I really enjoy getting to coach baseball at LSU and and those three guys having them on the team you know Hayden and Alex for all three years kind of

Bullpen guys and then then even start moving ahead to Louisiana Lafayette so I I love the challenge of it but it’s timec consuming that’s for sure uh I know you can’t answer this but I got to ask it but you don’t have to answer it uh who’s going to start on Friday yeah

And or Hayden and Alex and so he’s a big piece of this thing so they’re from right around here and this is if it’s not our top recruiting area in the country it’s pretty darn close and uh this is a small story you know both those guys you know obviously came to
See us play here when we were here two years ago and the impact of getting into play in games like that like that only happens if you’re LSU or you’re actually a big leager with the Astros you know what I mean it doesn’t happen anywhere

Does though I mean but it’s also like let’s not lose maybe the the opportunity for Holan who is the most proven that you have who’s been the most consistent thus far and if he’s indeed going to be the Friday night guy like this is an excellent chance to uh to go and show
That so well that’s what I was goingon to say like the other day when we were talking about him we were saying how he’s been the most consistent this year so if you want that okay we’re he’s going to go out there and he’s gonna get
It done I would get Homan out there yeah I think um I think that’s probably what Johns will do just because the um again I I I think I think this win matters more than any other over the entire weekend in terms of just symbolism right now it’s a big win for

The players are come in here now yeah yeah I mean look at LSU’s roster it’s filled with people from California I mean multiple players and so the SEC like LSU’s cared about it for probably longer than some SEC schools but now the SEC cares more about it than anybody
And that part of California like you see irban still a good team you see Santa Barbara’s good those teams are good you a make money out there like there’s no dirt bag Long Beach State like we used to have the bar hat with said dirt bags like they just they’re not the same
