The talk of the golf world this week was Anthony Kim’s return to competitive golf after an eleven year break. And while he didn’t play particularly well, he’s got a great golf swing that we can all learn from.
He’s a small guy, but is able to hit the ball a long way… even though he has a relatively compact golf swing and also chokes up on the club a couple inches.
And so in today’s video we’re going to take a closer look to see how he does it… and what we can learn and apply in your golf swing.

Tricks that will get your golf swing just is compact but yet still very powerful so why all this hype for AK right plays in his first live golf tournament 11 years right doesn’t play well comes in almost last place but respectable scores in the mid 70s but
What’s all the hype about him right he’s 59 160 lbs and hit the ball extremely long despite most times choking down on the club one to two in right pound forp pound just one of the most long and consistent ball ball Strikers out there you know during his Heyday and really
From the looks of it right his swing has not changed much in all that time despite some of the injuries kind of driving him off tour wear and tear his golf swing looks as good as ever and I’m really thinking how can we get some of

What is AK able to do to be able to generate that much power from a pretty simple compact back swing motion right even with his irons here you can just see there’s just not a whole lot of movement to the top the arm swing the arm swing stays very compact very
Connected the head doesn’t move much at all and he’s still able to hit the ball very far all right when we look at a lot of the people that were out there playing with the people I’m given lessons to at times we see a lot of
Violence we see a lot of muscling the ball we also see a lot of gyration and quick jerky movements so what gives I want you to stay tuned here because we’re going to definitely talk about how we can get some of that consistency into your golf swing hopefully more power with less
Moving parts so another great example this week of less is more this is first place Austin ecro right in the Honda Classic second place here this is Eric Van royan very simple small back swing minwu Lee third place short compact very few moving parts and then of course cam
Young right all very similar to AK not big back swings not a lot of moving Parts okay and here’s the big illusion right when you look at AK from face on or any golfer you would say you know what he’s turned his shoulders at least 90° right there maybe maybe even a
Little bit past so he he’s made this rotation to get his back to the Target right to really wind his body up in a circle making this turning motion but that’s not what’s happening look at these pictures from behind I think these are very very revealing and telling I
Want you to SP pay close attention to this black stripe that is just right in the middle between his back and his stomach right you notice in the first picture we don’t see it at all he’s out of dress second picture takeaway third picture halfway back the black
Stripe moves a little bit farther fourth picture this is at the top so now it you go ahead and measure there just how far that black stripe is moved and I’m going to show you this next right we’re going to put this into your golf swing um so
We can make that simple compact effective back swing and still hit the ball long ways so that’s showing us that the actual amount the amount that his rib cage is actually moving is very little and that’s not what I see most golfers doing so let’s go ahead and show

Put my hands on my rib cage I want you guys to do the same thing notice how my rib cage only moves around 30 to 40 degrees in my back swing the rest of my back swing is me extending my arms away from my chest as I get to the top but
Really when it comes to just kind of rib cage rotation little bit of pelvic rotation it’s not moving very far and then this is the rest of it so if you’re one of those people out there that we’ve got the club going really far inside we’re losing our posture from
This view you’re really cranking things back you’re seeing your arm structure really get deepen behind you whether it be at the top or early on in the back swing this can really help you from this face on view if I do the same thing I’m
Going to I’m going to move my pelvis and rib cage around 30 to 40° right about this much I feel some load into my Trail side and here’s the big thing with these guys they’re stretching the segments right think of my pelvis segment my core
And then into my rib cage I’m feeling a stretch even right here so it’s a very active position that I’ve got I’m not just turning everything kind of willy-nilly right my feet are gripping the ground with the spikes in my shoes I move my rib cage I feel a stretch across
There and then when I go to extend my hands and arms out that’s all I need right there I can kill the ball from there from this view what’s so great about it that same movement really helps to keep your arms nice and tidy so my elbows aren’t flaring they’re not
Getting behind this piece of tape we’re not doing all these things that really make us compensate on the way down even with this very small efficient movement everything is very stretched and loaded you could feel it all across the the midsection of my body and as soon as I
Start down that club responds it’s a great way to test it out you you know that if you get here you feel a little strain in your body your feet are working to grip the ground and as soon as you initiate those arms respond and come right with you that’s how they’re
Getting all that power right take a look at some of the winners this week and AK himself hopefully he’ll start playing better and making some money on the live golf tour but even with that we know he hits the ball long ways and very straight for having such an efficient
