Little time off and he’s more ready for the stretch run than anybody out there give Daren Fox some love absolutely you know the king’s going back to November they haven’t defended well but at times when they’ve thrown traps at people they’ve been pretty effective you know

Chunks their guys showed up every night and it shows you what can happen when you do that you get a three seat your reward take on the Golden State Warriors get a 50 out of Steph Curry in the game seven and you go home in the first round
I look at them this year and I see a very similar team is that fair it’s fair but maybe not in that moment meaning you’re just coming off a great win you just beat the Clippers sabonis just got another triple double his eighth in his last 11 games mind you
Yeah dearen Fox clearly the best player on the floor last night and and this is the problem I have with ESP this is this is the problem they have the same lazy narratives that they talk about day in and day out you know I’m walking out the
House uh earlier today and watching NBA today and it’s like is the Warriors Dynasty over can we talk about that two we like like we need some fresh conversations yes and so I need Tim legler to tell me why he thinks the Kings can make some noise if he does

And and and I know I say that a lot but growing up in Philadelphia Tim legler used to play for the Sixers when I went to Sixers Camp shter shoter yeah he was a camp counselor when I went to Lal explorers Camp he was a camp so he was a
Camp counselor back in the day when I was coming up so I respect Tim legler you know great shooter but it’s just another lazy kind of uh storyline when it comes to the Kings I thought he was pretty evenhanded I give him credit for I appreciate that he said you know they
Showed up last year and they were rewarded with a three seed um and that shows you what happens when you do that but he also had this to say about doas you mentioned hey domas had a big night Tim legler last night after the Kings game on ESPN on Deon sabonis what it
Comes down to for me is greatest sabonis is and I love sabonis he has some limitations offensively that when you look at the other top teams in the west and there’s eight teams chasing 50 wins this year right when you look at those teams like that second guy is just a
More Dynamic offensive player in terms of getting their own offense getting their own shot I he’s an incredible power player and he will punish you inside as hard as he plays takes the occasional three you just mentioned his three-point percentage doesn’t shoot very many though um 6 and half% foul
Shooter but it’s the stuff he doesn’t do in the middle area of the floor I feel like every other team in the west has a second guy that can kill you from that area of the floor so there’s a limitation there and last year if you
Recall he got bottled up in the Golden State series he averaged 16 points a game they had a good defensive game plan against him everything came to the defense they were walled up against him and he struggled to figure out another way to beat them I kind of feel like
They’re running they will run into the same thing whoever they get this year and who knows how these parents are going to play out sure they’re dangerous they’re good on a given night yes and could they win a first round series probably I wouldn’t bet on it based on
The relative competition that they’re going to face now what he’s getting at there whether you agree or not it’s the reason why people don’t give sabonis more respect we always wonder why doesn’t he get more respect everybody with the Kings Wonders that it’s because he doesn’t average 25 or more points a game
And I’m not saying they’re right but people look at basketball it’s like if you’re not averaging like 25 26 you’re not scoring 30 points game people don’t take you as seriously as in the case of sabonis they should all right Le let’s have this conversation then you know Tim

You know throughout the season we’ve been seeing you know glimpse of what they can do they just need to do it more on a consistent basis but they were really focused you know they were they were all together uh last night no you’re right about that Tony one of
The best uh wins of the Season uh let’s start with uh de’arra Fox and the thing that I liked last night about dearon Fox the Clippers had three Hall of Famers out there they had kawh Leonard an MVP candidate James Harden an MVP former MVP Westbrook but dearen Fox was the best
Player on the floor is that the dearon fox they need to make a serious run playoff time uh without a without a doubt draes uh you know he’s definitely um I would have to consider you know he’s the best player on the team and you know things doesn’t really happen you
Know without him and I know it’s in the last three games that they won he’s been a very effective very active in the uh fourth quarter so you know when he’s playing like that uh you know it’s all systems go they have you know the highest possibility of of winning these
Uh games I think uh I was looking at it in these last fourth quarter three fourth last three fourth quarters uh he’s averaging what about 11.5 12 points a game in those but he’s doing other things he’s doing that two-way thing you know he’s he’s a true
Two-way player so you know if he’s doing that on the defensive end you know he’s getting one or two steals you know he’s dishing off the ball you know he’s doing a little playmaker and uh he’s getting those basket for him and he’s doing it like you know he’s he’s having these

His contract I know dearon you know he’s another contract is gonna be Ling for him so I I’m don’t like to speculate or anything like that but you have to look at those type of situations that you don’t want to bring too many big guys in
Here to uh kind of disrupt you know those uh contract negotiation on down the road now I know they had opportunity to uh get Pascal seak and that would have been a nice little addition but then there you know these other factors that’s going on so they did make a deal

About you know heat culture well Pat Riley came in what 95 you know so here we are you know close to 30 years it can’t be overnight and it has to be uh a sustained thing and one thing when you look at the Heat and what they’ve done
And I hope Sacramento gets to this point how many coaches have we changed cycled through how many uh GMS have we cycled through but yet in Miami Pat Riley’s been there Eric spoler second longest 10year coach in the NBA like there’s something to stability and continuity
That I think the kings are sure and not only has SPO been there for a long time but he came up through the organization system in the first place yes 100% And so I I think that’s where we are uh right now with with Miami the Kings is
Going to take some time you know yeah uh Monty McNair what this is his uh fourth season uh with the Kings you know you you look at uh Mike Brown only in his second now if Mike Brown’s here 10 years and and Monty’s here 13 now then you’ll

In that game but to see Bam Bam took 11 of his 18 shots in the fourth quarter scored 12 of his 24 points in the fourth quarter and he showed you what what you hope you’d see a guy that when needed he can carry you on the offensive end and

A heat uniform of Delan Wright uh which is another great heat story his brother derell was drafted right out of high school laale California played on the 06 championship team and some of us wanted him here by the way or d uh D yeah
Listen D is is it it really feels like a great fit first of all it’s a feel-good story he was 11 or 12 years old when derell first joined the heat so heat people basketball side have memories of him as a little kid shooting around with
Tim Hardaway Jr and Gary Payton Jr in our practice gym and Bon fits he fits the heat because you know he’s a guy that would just be just vanish on a on a bad team bad teams don’t appreciate what a player like thean does good teams contending teams need guys like Delan
Right that will fit in offensively that can guard three or four positions on the defensive end uh unselfish tough-minded knows what the culture is all about and he’s there for death Josh Richardson’s out with a shoulder injury and the lawn I think will fill that void very well

I have a lot of respect for Mike Brown he’s been successful and respected everywhere he’s been whether it’s as a head coach or or an assistant uh so he brings a veteran winning mentality to Sacramento you guys had a long long period of time I think 16 years of under
500 basketball and not making the playoffs and you finally broke out out of that last year and the first step is getting your heart broke in the playoffs and that happening in game seven here last year the next step is getting back and being a little hungrier a little
Smarter a little better um I’m so intrigued by the sabonis trade I I can’t remember an NBA trade where both teams gave up such a great player and neither team has a second thought about the deal they made it worked out so well for both
Teams uh so sabonis to me is one of the best players in the league him being off the allstar team this year in the west uh it saddened me I I think the guy’s an MVP candidate right alone an Allstar uh you know the 20 triple doubles I mean
Only he’s only the sixth guy to do that in NBA history and and he does it every night and I I just love the way he plays and and in dearon Fox you got a dynamic playmaker scorer and and I tell you the truth watching him defend last night
That that that caught my eye the eight defle I know he’s one of the top guys in the league in deflections and I love I really respect guys that and we have a guy like that in Caleb Martin that used their athleticism equally well on both ends of the Court Eric Reed uh

In that first game who knew then what what would be next it was I’ve been with the heat 36 years I’ve been watching NBA basketball for over 50 years I mean I I’ve never seen a a usually when you get to the finals you have been carrying around the burden of expectations all
Year most of the teams that get there were expected to get there this was the most joyful unexpected finals appearance that that I’ve ever been a part of that’s tremendous so you know some suggest that if demard rosen’s daughter had been there at that Heat game that
Maybe you know maybe things would have ended for you guys I don’t I’m kidding you know the way she was shrieking uh uh during the game against the other game against Atlanta how’s Hae hawz being compared to what you guys expected when you well I think pretty much what everybody did expect um
You know it really sort of makes me smile when when I hear people you know sort of shy away from wanting to draft a senior right because they’re maybe they’re 21 or 22 or 23 years old okay go draft a 19y old kid out of high school
And then see how see how long it takes so you know hak is not only it’s not just staying four years but it’s being at a high level program like he was at well coached um you know one of the respected programs at UCLA and each year his role incrementally Grew From from
Role player to you know key guy off the bench to starter to focal point and figuring out along the way you know how to help his team win and that’s why he’s such a great fit he’s fundamentally sound um I think he’s GNA be a I don’t
