B All right it is high school playoff basketball and it doesn’t get much better than this as the Cameron comets play their school song we’re going to get started here let’s talk about the teams tonight we’ve got division 4 level two high school basketball Shell Lake the seven

Seed coming in to take on the two seed the Cameron comets the uh Lakers are led by number 40 Conor shrinkle 13 points a game Shell Lake comes in at 15 and 10 and they just came off an exciting uh over time win against uh the kofax Vikings just

Tuesday to advance to this second round the Comets of course the number two seed had the buy the Comets come in at 22 and two 73.5 points per game as the Lakers are averaging just over 44 points per game so the tail of two teams here one senior heavy the Cameron comets

Senior 2.6 per game number 23 is Isaiah Kelton 510 senior averaging 8.2 per game uh number 40 is Connor shrinkle he’s our leading scorer at 13 per game and he is a 64 Junior and Jacobson number 45 for the Lakers 511 senior and he’s at 9.3 and now we’ll hear from the home

Down and the ball is taken away and the line uh number 45 on the steel and he steps on the line that’s Jacobson all right so we get the re set here Zimmerman to pass it in he gets it to Murray Murray dribbles hard against Jacobson he is double team top of the

Key and it’s stolen and missed the layup is missed by uh Isaiah Melton and the ball’s going to stay stay on uh stay with the Comets I’ll get myself organized here and as always try to get the uh home team figured out as they come out in the

Press do the Lakers and they got they’ve got everybody trapped and the ball is thrown away again and this time Jacobson misses again so a little bit of nerves a little bit of adrenaline and the lid comes off right off the bat for a nice little runner for Trey

Zimmerman and the Lakers get on the get on the scoring column number 40 SS that one that’s shrinkle their leading scorer 13 a game and so shell eight comes out very aggressive on D and from downtown left side leading scorer of course for the Comets Tyson Lucas

Inside mck kelton’s got the ball now gets it over to shrinkle shrinkle dribbles in goes up under and he’s going to be fou two shot foul Two Shots coming now for shrinkle the leading scorer for the Shell Lake Lakers and they’re going to get Cory Murray on that

One so 9 to7 home team early on here shrinkle tows the line he is a 65% free throw shooter misses this one and in comes Kobe sealls churny is going to take a seat SE falls in the Lakers still have their starting five on the floor as shrinkle eyeballs it and hits

The second so 9 to8 and again Jacobson meets uh the ball handler as they come across Zimmerman now with it gets it back over to Lucas Lucas has it tipped and and there’s a scramble and the Lakers come up with it Melton now dribbles right doesn’t

Like it and he does go left side up and gets the roll nice looking move by Isaiah mckelton and we’ve got a 10 to n ball game now in favor of the visiting team the Lakers Murray with it now Murray blows through through and gets it over to Tyson Lucas open three hits

It Tyson Lucas with his second three of the game Crosby now with the ball he’s going to shoot off and ball is saved by sea balls and here come the Comets Cory Murray goes right side Tyson Lucas is going to shoot another one and hit it Tyson Lucas on fire early

This is third three of the ball game I believe 1510 1321 to go in favor of the Comets Jacobson now with it he loses it gets it up to head Tyson Lucas easy layup these comets do get their hand in the quickie jar quite often timeout now called by

That’s Pete hempy number 10 that comes in Shankle Del uh dribbles Baseline now goes and we’ve got a foul uh Baseline was uh Jensen I believe no correction that’s going to be Crosby that went Baseline and he is fouled and Eden Jensen to pass it in he

Gets it up to hempy hempy has a little trouble with the handlebar finally gets it and Crosby has it gets it back to Jacobson and he throws it away a little zigan Z action Jacobson wants to know where he was going and he was going this way and the ball went that

Up in the hands of churny Carter churny doing what he does waiting around and and finding garbage points uh nice uh nice made shot off of a loose ball as the Lakers reload now mckelton loses the ball churny with it gets it over to Zimmerman ends up with it inside to

Lucas no it’s going to be on Kobe sealls not exactly sure what he did or said but I looked down for a second at my sheet to see who number 34 was Adam Fritz and when I looked back up there was a body on the floor there was a whistle and a technical

Foul so the score is 2210 109 to go and Jacobson is going to tow the line for the technical and hits it so 5 to one the team follows piling up for the as Bennett morovitz comes in number 20 for the Comets Jacobson eyes and hits the friendly roll

And gets the second Jacobson a 65% free thrower free throw shooter not the highest on the team but that’s who the coach put on the line and they get the ball do the Lakers ball comes in to shrinkle and it’s going to be a kick

Ball Aiden Jensen to pass it in he gets it in to mckelton mckelton guarded by Murray Crosby with it and it’s going to stay on the uh shell lake side Jensen to pass it in again and a nice looking player nice looking athlete all the way around on

This floor for the uh Lakers I notice he’s got a wrap on his right shoulder I’m going to go out on a limb and say football but I’m not sure Cosby with the ball and gets a screen takes the three and just misses Off the Mark nice rebound by shrinkle

Fights his way in blocked denied by Carter churny Zimmerman goes down with it but gets it to churny and here we come to Cory Murray Cory throws it away uh this press they’re not stopping the Lakers or the uh comets but they are bothering the Comets enough that they’re

Forced a couple of turnovers that’s the name of the game of course when you start pressing full court Melton dribbles across gets it over to new new uh kid on the Block here number 14 Dalton Anderson Anderson ball is loose crowd is screaming for a travel but the young man never made the

Attempt to get up so it’s not going to be a travel mckelton hands it off to 45 that’s Jacobson Jacobson back to Melton he sees an opening and finds it Isaiah mckelton dribble penetrates and finds per nice pass inside to churny boy comets are throwing the ball around and they lose that

One uh offense offensively the Cameron comments look a little out of sorts and I’m going to give credit to the Lakers they’re playing terrific defense down there mckelton comes in again finds room they are not they’re not putting a lot of effort into stopping that honestly Melton of course doing a nice

Job handling the ball but he’s finding it rather easy as morovitz tries three doesn’t find [Applause] it boy terrific defense down low and it’s going to be a foul on jurny a frustration foul so the the Comets are in trouble let’s let’s face it on fouls six to one are

The team fouls that’s jurny is first he’s going to stay in the ball game Zimmerman comes out on the floor now the two guards uh Murray and Lucas ball gets ahead almost had his pocket pick did number 15 that’s Jensen and an open [Applause]

Look and a travel 15 is not jent yes it is uh Aiden Jensen took the Deep three missed it and the ball belongs to the comets and here comes an easy look from Tyson Lucas nice pass and a heads up catch and play by Brady Quinn on that

One terrific Ali hoop pass and shot for an easy two shrinkle is going to shoot it and no good ball bounces around that’s going to be another foul on Quinn is that going to be a foul it is Brady Quinn a little out of control lost his

Footing on that one tough to tough to hang that one on him but that is three fouls already on Brady 24-6 the score 724 to go in the first half and Jacobson their best free throw shooter hits it Lucas Jacobson 511 senior drains that one hits the second and here come the

Comets Tyson Lucas to dribble it across no press of course on the ma shot Zimmerman dribbles in Kind of a line drive shot from SE balls no good McKinnon Melton rather and who is that that’s number 13 hits it number 13 Isaac Crosby drains the three from the right side 2124 we’re down to a three-point ball game and the Comets call a full

Timeout 2421 655 to go in the first half and Cameron has all they can handle as I’ve mentioned from the outset the Comets are very out of sorts on the offensive end and again credit goes to the uh shell lake Lakers they are playing terrific

Defense I’m going to see if I can find the score of the other region that would be the unity Cumberland Game I do have an interview with head coach Troy Valley I’m going to try to play that at halftime for you I don’t think we have anybody performing at

Half the band has uh disassembled the band sounded terrific under the direction of Cameron High School band director uh Tyler Halon so yeah we have got uh a bit of a surprise here at Caron high [Applause] school as I see these Shell Lake Lakers play for the first time live uh I’m not

Going to say it is a surprise they are athletic they’re quick they’re playing terrific defense and they are giving the Comets the two seed all they can handle Murray dribbles right Zimmerman with a deep three long and churny wisley lays off going over the back with the ball coming ahead Crosby

Crosby gets it over to Jensen Jacobson back to Jensen C uh back to yeah Jensen Crosby now with it over to Jensen correct that that’s Shankle shrinkle and he hits it that’s going to be inside the arc I believe 2324 comets and Tyson Lucas throws it right in the Bread

Basket and another shot no good pass goes in ends up in the hands of shrinkle he’s going to dribble in the hands of I’m all over the place here Jensen back to Jacobson Jacobson looking for Crosby and he in and out ball is loose and there’s going to be a

Foul foul is a called on number 10 that’s Hy 7 to2 now the foul situation so hey comes out to a round of applause and mckelton comes in so the next foul in the comments is going to be a one and-one situation SE balls with it gets it over

To Tyson Lucas back to Murray Murray dribbles in doesn’t like it and uh deep three Trey Zimmerman finds the range and they’re going to need somebody besides Tyson hitting those deep shots in goes Jacobson blocked Carter churny with the wingspan and the height Advantage blocks it

Dribbles all the way down gets it over to Murray Murray gets his guy in the air gets two guys in the air Zimmerman in with a floater he needs to go straight up with that as Tyson Lucas picks the pocket and that’s going to stay with the Shell Lake

Lakers a lot of action here be the first to admit I’m having a hard time keeping up and keeping the names and the numbers straight for the Shell Lake Lakers I apologize to their fans it is not by Design I promise you all right so 2327

The home team up by four 444 to go in the half and the Lakers lose it shake lost the handle on that one a tough pass to handle for mckelton and here comes comes the Cameron comments Lucas gets it over to Murray Murray back to Lucas the defense inside for the Lakers

Is been stifling at this point I think they’ve taken the Comets by surprise a bit Murray top of the key gets it over to Zimmerman he just hit that one he’s going to come in and they are flying all over the place uh-oh thought we had another over the back

Back but here they come the Lakers yeah that’s going to be an offensive foul the crowd wanted it about three three steps before the uh the official agreed but that foul was called on number 13 Isaac Crosby he just kind of backed his way in with his

Elbow and that’s going to be only the 13 foul s to three team fouls 27 23 four minutes to go in the first half Tyson Lucas with the ball he dribbles penetrates gets it over to churny can’t handle it gets it to Zimmerman and a deep three Again by

Sealls ball kept alive ends up in the hands ends up in the hands of Tyson Lucas and he makes a Nifty Nifty Up and Under move for two shrinkle now with it mckelton dribbles in he’s guarded tight trankle is going to try a deep three miss it and sealls comes up with

It sealls sneaks in there goes up high for the rebound ends up in the hands of that is Bennett morovic [Applause] deep good news for the comet fans as we’ve get getting more and more guys into the scoring column and the Lakers have to take a timeout mckelton couldn’t find anybody

To get it to and wisely takes a timeout before he gets the call 5-sec [Applause] call so timeout called by the Shell Lake Lakers 3223 now the Comets starting to build a bit of a lead off the three ball 3 minutes 6 seconds to go in the

First half once again the fouls piling up for the comment most notably Brady Quinn with three has not seen much action in this first half I think he had a two point uh hoop off an Ali oop other than that he has stayed out of the scoring

Column and uh has spent a little time on the pine and I can tell from his body language he is frustrated Zimmerman doing a nice job along with churny to fill in it’s going to be Shell Lake ball Melton has the ball top of the

Key is that a man or a two3 zone I’m seeing now from the Comets ball comes around ends up in the hands of mckelton he gets it over to Crosby back into well it ends up all the way back to mckelton and he takes the three misses

It shell aake is getting high for the rebounds and really being aggressive but that one did not go their way Zimmerman nice pass a nice shot into to Carter turny Carter does a nice job moving without the ball and a beneficiary of a nice pass then from Trey

Zimmerman Trinkle now with the ball almost loses it and does it’s going to be an over the back over and [Applause] back another turnover for the uh Lakers and they’re starting to pile up in the turnover column very frustr frustrated for Coach Grace I’m sure Murray gets it into Zimmerman back to

Murray Murray sees all kinds of daylight nice pass then inside and a hope Carter churny finding a space in that defense and a nice pass then deep three Now by Jacobson no good and here come the Comets again pass over to Moritz he gets it into Murray and Mor’s going to take another

One and Zimmerman up and no good and there’s a foul I believe it was Carter churny going up for it and he gets fouled so churny at the strike for the Comets Carter a 72% free throw shooter uh 3623 now the Comets starting to pull away a little bit

Here and churny is no good on the first off the back iron seven fouls now for the home team the uh comets four fouls for the Lakers I’m going to say that the Comets are a little bit Rusty in that first 8 nine minutes and they have not played a

Baskball basketball game for what N9 days now and that certainly can be a factor as Jacobson loses it um shrinkle comes up with it gets it over to McKinnon M mckelton rather get these names right ends up in the hands of Jensen back to uh Crosby back to Jensen inside to shrinkle

And he is up and no good defended by churny and churn is making himself known down there on the Baseline Murray dble penetrates and in Cory Murray gets into the scoring column again Melton with the ball guarded tight and he has been tough to stop in the lane and again gets the roll

Nice job by Isaac or Isaiah rather Melton number 23 a senior 510 senior nice looking guard for the Lakers again that interior defense starting to crack a little bit for the Lakers nice pass Tyson Lucas draws a crowd gets it over to churny churny for

An easy two and that should have been a travel and is Jacobson a little uncertain on where to go with it takes a step 25 seconds to go in the first half 40 to 25 these uh comets just they’re just too deep and they just have uh a lot of Firepower on offense

Once they start all hitting on all cylinders that’s not to say this game is in hand at all for the Comets 15-point [Applause] lead can close up in a hurry 4 Seconds To Shoot 4 seconds and the half inside Murray gets it off nothing so

There is your halftime score 40 to 25 in favor of the Comets comets starting to look a little bit better I think the Shell Lake Lakers are getting A so once again that’s our friends up at Northwoods Tech terrific local tech school Tech College one year and twoyear programs up there and everything from cosmetology to welding and metal working um I’ll be playing a interview with head coach Troy laali from the Cameron comments here in just a few

Minutes I do have a score for Unity up 19 to9 at halftime over Cumberland and terrific uh player Gores for Cumberland has all nine points so the defense for Unity must be stifling as Cumberland has not gotten any anybody else into the uh scoring column for the Beavers other than Gavin

Gores I believe is his first name uh Grant strangi hope I’m saying his name right for Unity has eight points and Gavin Gore four three throws one three pointer and two two-pointers or one two-pointer rather to equal only nine points for the Cumberland beavers so a little more well

Both games are competitive honestly the scoring for Unity isn’t as high as they’re used to do well neither team honestly why people don’t want to sit in the chair we don’t realize you can’t push it under the desk because it tears the arm up yeah I know I had to build that

All right I am here with head coach of the Comets uh coach Troy lavali Troy you come in uh as a two seed in the playoffs uh you’ve had a long season and uh the rubber is about to hit the road on Friday night versus Shell Lake um some

Thoughts on a two seed and kind of where your team is poised here as we enter playoffs uh yeah I mean we figured we’d come in with our record and unity Us and Them would be one and two U whatever wa has the formula for that but um we’re

Excited we’re going to be fresh um you know we haven’t played in seven days so our leg should be fresh and we’ll be ready to go Friday night against uh you know a competitive Shell Lake team that just keeps getting better so they had a big win in overtime on Tuesday and uh

We’ll hopefully show up and get a win Friday night so you mentioned the boys haven’t played in a while uh any concerns about rust when you have a a break like that uh you know there’s always a little bit but when it comes tournament time I mean they’re ready to

Play um we I I get after him pretty good in practice some days too which is probably better than a game in some games we play so um you know we’re healthy we’re excited we had a good year we’re hoping to continue that so so you mentioned that uh shell Lake’s coming in

On Friday night uh seven seed um and then if we look down the road a little bit Spring Valley also was playing that night against McDonald uh what you know I know we don’t like to talk about who we want to see and look Beyond you know our noses

On this stuff but uh talk a little bit about what you what do you know about Spring Valley uh McDonald on the other side uh you know like I said before our whole section was just kind of loaded I mean Spring Valley has got 18 wins I

Think McDonald has 15 now and shell lake has 15 wins so there’s a lot of really really good basketball playing in division 4 right now um you know if we can take care business Friday night against Shell Lake I think we’ll probably be playing Spring Valley um they’re pretty well coached uh coach

Bosard has been there a long time he’s he has it down to a science and um you know that if we get that far that’s just going to be a battle uh like I said they’re well coached they’re methodical maybe a little contrast to Styles a

Little bit cuz we like to get up and down they’re going to be a little more slow slow face to the game um but I wouldn’t count out McDonald either they’re they’re a team that you know is going to go give Spring Valley everything they can on Friday night too

So should be interesting weekend yeah a lot of this at this point kind of comes down to uh who these teams have played throughout the season I mean sometimes you know you you get a team coming in that hasn’t had a lot of uh challenge during the season and then they get into

The playoffs and you could probably put cam uh Cameron in that category a little bit as well on the other side of the bracket or on the south I guess I would say Duran uh Luther and aquinus if we look in if we spread out and look at the

Whole section uh what do you know about any of those guys have you have you been keeping an eye on them as the team as the season goes on or yeah there’re I’d throw Fall Creek in there too they’re all they’re all very good um I mean

Duran won the dun St Croy this year uh um I think they’re 21 and three um aquinus doesn’t have quite as good a record um but they’re playing in the Mississippi Valley so they’re playing on Alaska they’re playing lacrosse uh Logan and Central so I mean they got some more losses but they’re

Playing really really good basketball um you know just just like up here I think it could be three or four teams any On Any Given night that could you know make it to sectionals and the sectional final um just really good basketball this year in our area so

Let’s talk about Tyson Lucas again a little bit Tyson as you know uh eclipsed the all-time scoring record last week um just what did you have to say to Tyson kind of how was his reaction what what do you have there ah it was just great great accomplishment for him super proud

Of him um you know just told him you know how proud We Are of him and how the hard work you know he’s put in since probably since first second grade when we started picking up a basketball how that’s kind of paid off um glad he glad

He got it uh fun to do it on senior night um you know but now it’s out of the way you know it’s one of those things where you don’t focus on it as a team and it happens you definitely are excited and you recognize it but now

That it’s done you know maybe we can re not refocus but you know get focus on what our first goal was you know to win conference and win a regional um but yeah super excited for him I mean the kidss were excited for him uh it goes

Into he doesn’t get that by himself he gets that with his teammates and everybody’s kind of a part of that so yeah it was awesome uh terrific young man there’s always I always say there’s a fine line between Cocky and Confident and sometimes he walks that line but he

Is very confident kid yeah that’s that’s I hope he’s playing confident for the next three weeks cuz he just has to walk around with a little bit of a Swagger to him would’ be good so just the last question key keys to winning not necessarily tonight but you know moving

On you know as uh as things progress here you know hopefully tonight or uh Friday night rather uh the Comets get a victory but what do you what do you talk about as the keys to winning here as we move forward uh for us I mean really I think

It’s got to start with defense um and you know the old cliche def all right that was head coach Troy laali who we uh had a chance to talk to a couple of days ago and uh had to cut that short as we’re under underway again

Here and I do want to talk a little bit about Tyson Lucas and his all-time leading scorer as Melton finds perer not in the lane again that’s where he’s gotten all his points tonight Isaiah Melton and I’ll get that total number of points and a foul boy that’s a little bit Ticky

Tack and Shell Lake thank you all right My Views blocked temporarily but I think that was churny that came up with it and ended up with another two-point hoop and that’s going to be a charge shrinkle a little out of control with it and uh and plows over a

Defender I think the official had that one right no argument from anybody including the crowd Zimmerman now with the ball gets it over to Murray Murray across the timeline to Zimmerman Zimmerman back to Murray goes into inside over to Quinn Quinn back in after those fouls Brady Quinn playing with three

Fouls he gets a two-point hoop there a beneficiary of a nice pass ball is loose again and Zimmerman has it all the way over to Tyson Lucas and he has the ball picked gets a hand on it himself that was nice defensive play by Jensen for the Lakers
