Welcome to Whats in My Drawers Golf Talk., This episode is taking about refurbishing some 1971 Wilson Dynapower irons, Fitting a 12 yr old and a 0 HC golfer and more, join us for alive discussion
We’re going to talk about refurbish some irons a Muno build I just finished a second ago and some fitting results all next and what’s in my George golf Talk welcome back to the golf shop this is what’s my drawers golf talk why what’s in my drawers because old Club makers and Club Fitters are tremendous packrats and I’m no different it’s about what’s in my drawers back there hey and what we do here is we talk about Golf
Club repairs Golf Club fittings and Golf Club reviews also your scores can go low this is our live right instead of the videos that have been going on we just surpassed 36,000 thank you guys please tell your friends family neighbors whatever in order let them like And
Subscribe like you see across the bottom so they can get more of this stuff when they when it when I drop the videos all righty so number one hads just went crazy shot one super duper low score and ended up winning the Genesis open congrats to him right uh I was wondering
What happened with Klay it looked like he was almost a lock all he had to do was play decent golf and well he didn’t and uh all the other stories uh out there we’re not going to touch on those but congrats to him alrighty so what we
Did in the shop I actually have pictures this time all right first and foremost is we did a set of new mauno uh hm Pros hm Pros here these are an entire set that goes all the way into as you can see two of the t24 wedges all
Right t24 wedges and you get the the modus Pro and what these were 120 X’s 120 x’s and we put in some jumbo uh some jumbo dry Tac winds now what this for is a uh is a young man who just getting his family started we fit
Him when he was a teenager and he’s grown quite a bit even still and Swinging very hard and now we had him right at the right at the base of the xlex range but the way they’re swinging the the X the X really really did
Well in the uh in the 120 it’s a bit of a softer profile and he was able to just straighten it right out so that was a really good thing thing to do all right as a break in between all of this uh the my Rec Tech my very first
Rect tech the the computer or the controller decided not to hook up to Wi-Fi so after a few minutes of discussing it with the support folks I got a new one and I put it in so we were able to do a few things we did some
Country style ribs we did something that looks a lot like that that one turned out to be really good and then on The Griddle we’re keeping it going along I did some Smash Burgers and of course you can’t have Smash Burgers without some onions and then to finish it all off we
Did some bacon I got to tell you bacon on The Griddle very very nice all right so what else do we do we also uh I’ve converted over to new golf balls you know each year what I’ll do is I’ll I’ll take out the old and I put in the new
And that was me segregating them out we got them all the new the staffs the the chromes the Chrome tours all that stuff it’s in there all righty so what else we get done well we got some single links in the EQ and x1s and using the uh Golf
Pride cp2 pros and again the uh the motor shaft now I kind of tricked this one a little bit I tricked this one a little bit in that the cool thing about in a pawn is even in parallel tip they have discrete lengths so what I did is I took in the
Top end I took the two two clubs at the top and I made I put so we were making them to eight iron length so I got eight irons in the middle seven irons at the top and nine irons at the bottom to kind of do my own personal fighing of single
Links we’re going to see how it works out when he comes to hit him uh Makefield was also on the spot we did did a uh a tall or a tank like broomstick whatever you want to call it Makefield Putter and uh that’s what it looks like when you’re looking down on
It and we ended up putting the jumbo Max the 17 with the uh with the ginormous flat you seen that thing’s got a flat about this wide on it and what we did is we put the flat towards the target allaha Bryson dambo in order for him to hold it
Into his forearm so that he could make it go around so that was what we’re going to do uh last but not least and there’ll be a video on this one is the uh you know when I showed you the uh showed you the Wilson Dina power
We said they were I ended up finding out they 1971 irons ones that look like that you know or even like that there’s a seven and eight now keep a good eye that seven and eight because we’re going to discuss that and then that’s what they all look like right so all that
Stuff right there pretty bad well this is the seven now no would you stop all righty there’s the seven a little bit different eh there’s the seven he’s got a nice wear spot on as you can tell but we got that going on and then the other one that was pretty
Ucky is the eight there’s the eight there we go and if we look hard enough there we go see a little fluid feel there the number eight I got everything paint filled again didn’t have that before let’s see it’s going all right and uh so we refurbished them and we
Cleaned up the grips and it’s ready ready to go so I got a two through pitch and we’re going to talk about doing the referb but what I’m going to end up doing is I probably just give them away so watch the video when it comes out
Might be the second one that comes out all righty and last but not least as we were talking last Monday we thought the snow was coming in and and it did and that’s all we look like didn’t look too bad so and now it’s all gone you look
Outside you can’t can’t even tell can’t even tell all righty so there there’s all the builds and whatnot that we just went through oh and uh I’m did a I did a set of the new 245s the 245s and I did it for a mauno
Rep and he got the really cool got the really cool feral on it we got some mmts the 125 tourx so the dude’s got game and then he’s got the new blue wedge with a little gold there again we got that guy going on and we got that guy going on right there
So I mean I literally just got done bending them they were uh they’re very springy so for those of you guys that have to do any bends they’re very very springy uh I had to adjust one at least four times just to get it to go and
That’s normally not how it works all righty so couple of things number one like And subscribe get that down in there get down in there and like And subscribe and uh tell your friends families all that stuff the other one is I have to leave at 6:30 I at 6:30 I
Got to go and give her take a minute and the reason being is at my other work we’re have we’re celebrating six million hours of uh safe work and they’re handing and we’re handing out food well we do shift work and most of my guys are
Shift workers so in order to get all these guys in a timely fashion we got to be at work at 7even in order to uh hand out this food and since they’re my guys most of them I’m going to be there to help hand out food all right so let’s
Get to the top of this thing and start answering some questions Ying alrighty here we go alati uh start off any special instructions on removing a graphite wood extension with heat uh gun installed with quick set glue I’m guessing use low setting and a strong pair of pliers well true
Um you’re in dangerous territory there man so there’s a couple of ways you can go about this uh you know you yes you can heat up the outside and just allow the and don’t let it get hot just let it get warm right and then then what you can do is
Do the inside and soften up the plastic and then grab it and Pull and then it should let go now and again don’t be afraid that if you have a good hosle brush like a large one or like what I use is a uh a half inch pipe cleaner and
You can get in there and clean it out when you’re all said and done all right oh Matt no rounds for him question what’s the best way to get used tape off get used tape off the golf club is it heat or and hope or what tricks can be
Used well heat is the best way the uh so what you’re what you’re doing Matt is that you’re just activating the tape and and I use a heat gun and I don’t go over the I don’t go over the tape more than 10 seconds aside just like if we were to
Like 10 seconds this side 10 seconds this side and it gets the the adhesive nice and and warmed up again and it and it pulls right off no like nobody’s business um I’ve seen guys use a torch a uh a propane torch and go for even less
Time you know the whole thing maybe five six seconds and do the same thing uh that that was a tour trailer trick you can do that um if you what we do when we get really really old ones uh that almost when you peel off the the grips
Almost look like alligator skin and that tape is really really really really on there um what we do is we take a knife and we use you know like you see like you hold on two hands with a cheese grater and you just keep scraping and
Normally it works on both but it’s less messy or less less how shall we say it’s less cosmetically appealing on graphite because you’re scraping and it’ll show you scraping the paint but on steel with the Chrome it’ll take it pretty good and you can just keep going and it gets
Pieces about this big and it just looks like the thing’s hairy when you’re all done we can do that all righty elbow grease well that helps but a little bit of tape will do it good too all right Al says and at 57 I hav’t much to spare I hear you
Brother all righty yep Warren’s GF says those older irons have some high Lofts yes they do it was uh like uh we had Bob in here my buddy Bob and he was literally hitting this golf club and he was just smoking it right in the middle and it was hitting
You the sound when you hit it really good is just about as pure as you want to as you want to expect just hitting it just killing it throwing in the mat and he says wow and he and I can see The Gleam in his eye and he’s like man May
Let’s check these out so I turned on the machine and uh I said what do you hit your I said what do you I said where do you hit your five iron or your seven iron he tells me and we hit four or five shots and they’re quality golf shots I
Mean the the the smash Factor was right up there with anybody else and he was literally 20 yards short yeah so if imagine if you will hitting a seven iron about 130 yards that’s uh that that’s takes a lot of gumption right there and it was literally six it was six degrees
Difference in Loft all right last week somebody said stick a fork and tiger they nailed it why what happened I don’t uh alls I know is they said that he left feeling bad that’s that’s all I’ve seen in the news Warren I think losss are all about
The gapping that happens in the spin that comes off for each Club well true Matt but also you know if you got a 30 4 to 36 degre 7 iron when they’re normally 30 to 28 then uh that’s a different game of golf now yes you do want them to be
Gapped but different game Michael Moody hey Jim and Robin and all the crazy golf Geeks hello there sir and look he’s got the glass he’s got the Ben shot glass going on well done sir Matt saying hi just received a brand new t24 54 58 and these
Are amazing yes they are they are very nice did you which ones did you get Michael did you get the uh they call them the was it the Pearl satin Pardon Me Pearl satin or did you get the denim or did you get the raw or did you get the
Blue now what’s surprising me is that I haven’t ran up when they showed this and say uh where’s the green ones now we saw the green ones in the it was it 241s came in a green that they said were for Masters and uh we checked on it because we got a
Handful of phone calls and looking for those green clubs and they’re all in Japan so how it got leaked out who knows but they’re only for the Japanese folks so there you go all righty Phil K hi Austin from Austin a couple questions coming no problem installing a 370 fiber shaft
Into a Callaway 4 hybrid huzzle fit is a little loose and it looks like there’s a step in the hosle will beads help fill it and should I use a collared feral Okay so in a lot of cases with high with Callaway here in the late last couple of generations what you don’t see at the bottom what you don’t see at the bottom of the hosle there’s a little plastic stand of about that big where the the
Shaft will go in and the inside of this thing will go into the shaft and hold it steady in there and I’ve taken more than my fair share out of them as a matter of fact now is it required for it to be in there no but it’s it’s a placeholder we’ll
Call it and it helps keep everything in line now yes it’s going to be a little wobbly at the top and that means that the feral becomes that much more important so you need a proper fit in the feral and so everything you just asked me the answer is yes and yes now
Don’t go crazy on the beads right do not go crazy on the beads you’d be surprised at what little bit just you know put that small layer across the top of the glue and stir it in for about 60 seconds and that should be more than enough and
Then and you know and then coat the shaft as you’re putting it in there put a little bit in the hosle and just get a good even spread when you do that because you’re taking it up on both Sid not just one all right and then you got
To make sure you get that hosle in and set it really good and that will take up all that slack Michael says don’t forget to thumbs up I appreciate that Michael and please all right John Cherry how are you sir thanks for replying on that hey for
All you guys watching I just discovered that Facebook does reals and I’m like well look at that and so I also have an Instagram account of where I do just reals I very rarely post anything that we’ll call it substantial enough not enough to make it a post I just do reals
And literally it’s all of golf clubs oh really the reals on Facebook no that we’ll give we’ll give the thumbs up to Mrs McGolf on the Facebook one anyway so apparently it transfers from Instagram and you can put it over into Facebook and then do a little bit more manipulation and now I
Got reels over there so if you get in Facebook or if you get in Instagram it’s I am MC golf or MC golf custom clubs so and you find it but John found me and uh thank you alrighty question two building up a set of irons for fun will be good what do
You recommend when installing a 355 steel shaft andno to a 370 hosle brass shims without a doubt brass shims they make a shim that will take you from 355 to 370 now what you do when you get ready to put them in is you coat this shaft with the glue
You put the and it’s basically it looks like a star it looks like five fingers and it goes over to the shaft like that and put that put the shim on it and then put some more glue on the outside and shove that bad boy on there and kind of
Slowly swirl it until you get to the very bottom now a lot of glue is going to come back out but what you’re doing is you’re ensuring that you’ve got glue you got shaft glue shim glue and then that way everything stays together and then don’t forget your
Feral there you go Charlie well done Dean Walker how are you sir no rounds either 6 inches of snow on the ground if I’m lucky it will melt before Saturday 6 Ines woohoo so apparently Charlie what it did here is that it it hit us you saw that was just
A that was a dusting for people that truly get snow and what it did is it went above us and went into the upper end of Columbus which is about an hour to an hour and a half got that 6 in belt that went over
And found you and just below it was you know literally two Ines maybe and what we got was that little bit right there so and it’s virtually all gone a little different not drink not being able to my nightly thing here because I got to go back to
Work all right my dog Rex thumbs up boys and girls thank you sir Matt saying hi to Charles Bill nen Have You released the C no I have not I have not I’ve still got it I wanted to get all the irons done first and then we’ll go to the driver I will
Say that it for me it was one of the first swings that I had I won’t say they were my best swings but what I will say is uh that driver is massively friendly uh you can have a severe offc Center hit and still not watch it go zinging in
Outer space or left or right which was kind of unique and the thing looks like a pumpkin out a dress but uh very very very easy to swing to be sure if you just finished a set of IRS before coming on does that means Robin is nonstone the
Grips Charlie 99 times out of 100 that would be true but this time I did them oh a 12x it is and it’s not just a 120x it’s a 125 TX the t x apparently uh my rep is is a gorilla he’s a 100 pound gorilla but he’s a gorilla and he just
Gets after it really really really fast everybody’s saying hi to Robin and talking back here we go Peter what do you say Sir high in the 50s plays Saturday 76 today is 74 you are the man Peter alrighty Matt’s home for the live stream
You got a lot of lot of snow up there too nice rounds for Peter you are correct sir and still no side of them zx5 for [Laughter] him if I did if I had that round the the world class rounds that he had with him
I’d be hard pressed to give him up as well hi folks and it’s always a pleasure to watch well thank you saying hi to Robin there you go Peter when I think you can kiss those goodbye your son has fallen in love with them yes I think so
Too nice work on the dino Powers thank you sir it’s a lot of fun I had a there was a lot of you know leaning into some wheels so what we did on a lot of them is first it was a lot of dirt removal and and removing a lot of the
Uh the corrosion and we did that with a wavy wheel and I leaned into that thing pretty good and then to try and bring some of the shine back I had a hard sis wheel with some black Rouge and I leaned it into that even harder and when you
Polish something there’s a a little bit of heat that gets generated when you when you use black Rouge in a hard wheel a lot of heat gets generated and uh so you got to kind of watch yourself so you don’t you know you know lean into it
You’re like oh ow oh ow and you drop it that would be bad and then you go to the soft wheel with the 1200 grit stuff and to give it that last bit of shine and it it’s still gives a little bit of heat and it was just wow and it’s been ages
Since I’ve paint filled anything it’s kind of fun to go back to that alrighty Brody Jim talking food and golf and live stream not a bad combo I think so I think it’s pretty good oh I gotta give you shout I mean we gotta say good thumbs up to the rect
Tech because we told them what was wrong and went through their little you know let’s say the TR shooting and I said look man he he wanted me to he wanted me to do something that was ridiculous and I was like no I ain’t doing that he says so you want one of
Those controllers and I said yep and he says and next thing you know about 10 minutes later I got an email saying it’s getting shipped so I got to give him a thumbs up Dan ring very good sir there’s Al berett from that Space Coast how you doing sir Robin talking to Dean
Nothing feels like a mauno Jim is that what they say the uh that thing was springy man but it is a the more I think about it the more I should expect it because it’s a hollow body and so you got two pieces you got the actual piece the the the club and
Then you got the cap and that cap is probably acting to try and return it to its spot so you got to be kind of careful although it’s not in the hosle area because the hosle and the face Are All One Piece you would think that if I’m
Just touching the hosle it shouldn’t do that but somewhere in there it’s playing it integral they’re working together integrally so there we go all right Jim cavalis hey when you’re fitted for an iron with a flatline angle of 2° or more does that make the dynamic length of the Club essentially play
Longer uh and two play dynamically upright play dynamically longer well in reality if it’s a little flatter D if it’s a little flatter yes but we’re not talking very much and if you mean upright play a little bit shorter then the answer to that would be yes as well
Then you got to remember it’s all about the turf interaction I just happen to have a mauno here with me so what normally happens here is if this is if this is flat and what we’re doing is what we’re doing is we’re going to take this and
We’re going to make it go this way right so effectively in order for it to stay here and you be able to swing that thing is going to go like that so now you have this sticking out here in order to be there now we’re talking degrees and tenths of inches all right
And then the same thing with this is that this sneaks up in order to be here and that means because that means what’s figuratively happening it’s not here it’s at the other end of the club because if you’re if you’re flatter then you’re just a hair further away probably
Swinging a very wide swing and coming in Shallow where the upright is you’re probably coming upward some and then coming down into the ball now again it is very small okay particularly if you’re only two degrees you start getting into 3 degrees you know the one to two degrees is essentially there’s no
Impact you start getting a three degrees and all of a sudden things start changing so that you’re right you’re right on that cusp when you do that c Jim all right well thank you we’re actually quite proud of it 6 million hours is quite a bit and uh
So we they’re you know of course we’re giving out stuff but the uh the food we’re giving out we’re doing this it’s homemade uh we’re giving out Fried Chicken Meatloaf uh beans that were cooked with bacon uh mashed potatoes and gravy roll and then a pie and the chicken made from
One spot the the bacon or the the meatloaf and all other stuff is made from another spot and the pie is made from another spot to kind of spread the wealth around to the community and uh man it’s good it is good thank you we will keep it going
Hopefully there he goes Robin say thumbs up very much so Bill n give slapping that hand talking to Peter and Myrtle Beach again nothing of your leadership of Bravo I wish I could take credit Charlie but that’s not me bud that’s the people on the people on the uh
The people on the uh on the floor they’re the ones that get it done right you got to take care of them and then they take care of you and that’s the way I’ve always done it so when so I have emergency response I do now and uh and
Everywhere I’ve ever gone they said the number one rule of thumb is you go home the way you came in Period there is no excuse otherwise and uh and a couple guys they think they roll eyes and I said yeah well do something silly out there and watch how
Serious I become and a couple of course always get tested and they see it and they take that to heart and they start thinking and uh so I’m glad to see it because the the nature of our business isn’t exactly safe to begin with so uh
You take care and it does you do good they do good everybody does good all right Paul champagne xylene works pretty good yeah you want to tear the thing clean off that’s not too bad not probably mineral spirits mineral spirits is another good one uh that a
Lot of people will use that for uh actually putting on grips Robin saying hi to Dan oh there he goes he figured it out all right so do flat lives and AR make yep there we go I can tell man Mr Jim Anderson how are you all righty well let the conversation begin no doubt all right there’s Danny Johnson been a while buddy glad to see you made it back there’s Charlie with the we all know what that is for those of us that have been in the tube Ohga now all right Robin saying hi to Al Jimmy Wood there’s a new one how you say how you doing bud just want to say thanks for what you do well you are more than welcome as a normal working dad of four and now two grandchildren oo wow I wish
Content like this would have been around the early 2000s keep up the good work well you’re more than welcome and thank you very much that’s awesome and congratulations for grandkids too all right Mr there’s Robin talking back talking back talking back she does that a
Lot I’m a left hand so only satin buddy yes okay yeah you’re correct I get you on that one you know what though the thing is the satin one I think the satin one feels the best of all of them and now we why is that because the raw is exactly what it
Sounds like it is just the raw Club head now the denim is the raw Club head with the copper on the outside and giving it that coating and then the the satin is the raw the copper with that coating on the outside and that’s what gives it that mauno feel
So it feel that would feel something that looks a lot like this guy with the with the base model metal then the copper and then the stuff that goes around it to give it that seal you’ll see that a lot mauno Pros where basically it’s the C the
Denims are wearing their insides on the outside all right John lamb watch The Genesis guys are hitting a pitch and wedge 155 7 iron 190 not on my best day I’ve ever been close seven iron about 165 on a hot day anybody else come close to these guys uh
Probably probably not there’s a there was a time about I’d say about four years ago when we were doing this that getting in shape kind of thing I did that but that but my golf clubs were a full probably a full set stronger than those guys so you
You know these are guys are probably and keep in mind John that when they’re doing that they’re doing it with the like the players Lofts not the kind of Lofts like that would be the 245s or the St Rogue Pros or paradigms or 790s for that matter you
Know they’re nowhere close to those they’re so weak these guys are swinging that hard Ren saying hi to Keith for about a fitting that we’re going to have with him jack there we go what do you say buddy welcome in there’s Keith good good deal man looking forward to it
Too not like a long shot I wonder well they’re young and they swing about 20 mph harder than we do Charlie if not more you know their their typical five iron swing is probably closer To uh 105 maybe even 110 for the stronger ones I mean it’s just that fast and because you assume that 120 mph driver swing you go about 10 mph shorter and that’s a five iron so if you see Guy swinging at 130 you know that’s 120 with that that’s
A lot of speed you know so imagine those guys swinging their irons like we swing our drivers well imagine those guys swinging their irons like we want to swing our driver Kyle AMC what do you say buddy am I still using the jumbo Max grips I got
Them but the xl’s I am feeling feeling I like the feeling but keep the face open I fit into the mediumsized grip on the site might just go to normals so I’m not sure if you got them in the XL if you got in the extra larges and
You were into the medium that could be quite the reason right there by Kyle um the other part is when you if you go to their site they show you how to hold that bigger grip right you you put it more in the palm of your hand in order
It so if you’re going to try and set th that jumbo Max grip in your fingers it’s going to be a problem and it’s going to be really hard to control and yeah you probably leave the club face open set the CL set the grip in your hand a
Little deeper so you don’t have to squeeze it nearly as hard and then it’ll make it easier to turn it over I’d give that a shot before doing that all right there’s John there’s Lawrence what do you say buddy how you doing John lamb Charles B yeah they
Don’t even look like they swing hard I know that’s the worst part about it right they just look like they’re out there having a picnic and they have uh but no we’re close to them don’t know the secret maybe need to be 20 again there’s your
Secret and they get to work out I mean the think about it that like your job’s working at the golf course mine’s working out here that you know their job is to get up in the morning eat healthy do a workout go play golf learn how to
Do things faster you know faster longer straighter and they do it every day they better get good all right Jimmy one thanks Robin alrighty the Z here’s a new one how true is this all the things being equal the difference between a $300 driver and a 600 driver is is 20 yards H that’s a heck of a question I don’t know if it’s 20 yards depending on what kind of you know the like most things in golf a lot of the answers is it depends okay it would depend on what your $600 driver is that saying all things being equal so we’re
Down to just the technology in the head um a $300 driver we’re talking brand new to brand new as well at 300 bucks you’re probably still in the titanium range maybe uh and I would think 20 yards 20 yards might be a little conservative but uh certainly there
Would be a differently there would be a different yardage for sure uh the other part would be chances are if it was now keep in mind if it was 300 and everything else was equal that means that let’s say if the shaft is really really nice that the head is
Going to be really really poor and then the distances will be a lot different now if we put the technology into the head and then made the shafts one was really nice and one was really poor then your control would be all over the map
So there’s a give and take on this one uh 20 yards is an easy number to come by I would probably think it to be a little bit more but I would also look at where it’s going as well as how far it’s going all right always get
Itchy and then far one was 20 yeah me either you know I was just thinking about that the other day Charlie that when I started playing which really wasn’t too long ago maybe well it’s been a couple years now but uh you know being a it’s probably my
40s and I was I knew what my distances were with my S iron you know all that stuff and here I get into my I just turned 60 so the at 5859 I was actually hitting the ball further than I was in my 40s that’s something else little tentative with the fix and
Install first time for everything hey give it a shot dude worst case scenario you got to pull it back out there’s Dan what do you say Sir probably know this by now but what kind of shafting beads do you know do you use uh the ones that you get from Golf Works
It’s nothing special you just ask for shafting beads and that’s what they are uh other people have used a what they called Black Beauty sand blast grit it’s a very fine sand blast in grit and it’s black can do that but for me it’s been a you know Golf Works has never
Disappointed to date on all their stuff so I keep using it and the funny part is you get this little bitty jar it’s only about this big about yay big around you think man I’m gonna go through this thing in no time flat dude I I think I’ve been doing this over 20
Years and I think I’m on my fourth jar so it it’ll go for a while okay Bobby Morrison what do you say Sir is it okay to use an iron shaft in a hybrid well yeah but Bobby in the day that’s what they did right they well you did one of two
Things either they put a a wood a driver shaft in there and and use shims to fill up the Hole uh in order to get to to kick a little bit harder then they realized things were that the head was so heavy that it was flailing the shaft
Around so they went to irons and and that helped control things but it was a little harsh and so now they’re designing hybrid shafts but if you look not everybody’s doing that but a lot are you have uh graphite design Acra uh I believe you probably get something out of Project X maybe
Maybe um I’m sure that Fuji kurur is doing it uh but not all not all Florida trip in April well I hope it works out for you if Peter had C x5s no [Laughter] doubt oh his would have been even lower oh char you’re on a roll today
Brother here we go David buer hopefully I said that right uh love the nepon 1120s yep any alternative any alternate current shaft well the what you’re talking about there is the probably 120 or is it the or is it the one is it 1150 no 120s that’s a soft David that’s
Basically their their version of the soft I got one right over there the uh is where they’re at and I’m trying to think of any alternatives in the 120 realm there’s very few and that so the profile on this one is the reason why you might like it
David is because uh although it’s 120 uh if it follows the 90 5 to the 105 to the 120 the the butt section on that club is a little softer than most and you won’t find that in KBS because that’s not their way except in the T90 the um the DG
Models the dynamic Golds no the elevates might come close but they don’t I don’t think they make a 12 the highest they go might be 105 115 maybe maybe used to I don’t know if they do anymore and then the other one that comes close to it uh well there
Is another one out there that may be the the modus is a little bit different profile but it’s still soft and the other one you might look at is the shimata shimata has one and then the 120 category and I believe it’s a very similar Pro profile but uh in shimana
Terms you’ll probably pay two to three times the price of the nepon so those are the ones that I know of all right John lamb they make grip strippers never tried them but have used a box knife and to strip it that’s what we were talking about and when I know
The new grip will cover any scratches that might crop up that’s what you’re talking about they do make those the grip strippers I’ve tried them a couple of times it’s one of those things that’s an acquired skill you’d have to really take a hard look at it and and see if you
Like that and the best part is you it’s that ball and you can push away from you can get a lot of torque on it um but I I the one I had seemed like the curvature of the radius was a little too small that was the thing that got me David says
Hello yep my dog Rex say says need some thumbs up friends uh okay Charles Barony neither did I took me a bit to hit my a driver my hands so far ahead I Del lofted it so much it went nowhere my three-wood was longer than my dad’s driver yeah
Yep when the delofting that’s the reason why that works so well a guy play with brought a new smoke AI driver and he is killing it at least 30 40 yards long or amazing he gets the same result when he hits the heel and the toe yeah that’s the now Peter that’s
The thing and I just happen to have their little marketing tool that guy and you see where the see the big number here and the big number there and and you see where all the other numbers seem to be normal so heel and toe right there
So that is the AI face doing its job trying and they whatever those waves are in the in the back of that face in order to take those heel strikes and those toe Strikes Back in the Days of pron Woods I use a two wood you know I got that box I
Showed you guys that I still got that box of those wood Woods there was a couple of twos in there and some fours there we go now we’re talking hope you guys are well and the weather is starting to become civilized I have friends and Peebles 30 miles yep
There to our West and they are saying they can’t uh it can’t make up its mind lately you would be correct sir it went from being you know actually a week ago people were out playing golf and then all of a sudden they had a cold snap got
Some snow and now it goes from 29 to 49 and right now it’s probably in the mid 40s right now uh and it’s going to turn around get back into the the 20s so we’re in that freeze thaw freeze thaw freeze thaw hopefully it goes away heard you mention
Columbus I would be in trouble if I didn’t mention the hometown of my in-laws Nevada and buyus yeah I know where buyus is at the uh Nevada I don’t know where he’s at but I know where buyus is at not too far from Columbus either Robin agreeing there’s my buddy Bob
Saying hi to everybody Mike Nesco General those distances are crazy at my age with old school irons yeah yeah those guys are just I mean those guys are phenomenal right they’re I mean that’s what they do they’re creating speed they’re in shape I mean it’s just crazy and and what they
Were doing even in the day when we had those you know even with these these guys when they were playing these right when they were playing those the idea was is that they were hit they every last one of them was say they’re hitting the ball too high because they didn’t
Like the trajectory that they were getting and they would literally Jack The Lofts of these things a couple of degrees to bring it down well what happens when you make it stronger it goes further so all these guys are like hitting these crazy distances and they’re like oh okay so that became a
Thing right you get into those uh blades or those players cavities that are weak you jack them a couple degrees now you get that flight that you’re looking for so now you think you can control it which they can and then uh and the idea is they’re comfortable with their golf
Club and now all of a sudden they’re eeking out a little bit more distance too all right in peace Say howdy y’all JN lamb at my age with old school irons I’d love to hit a seven iron yeah no you and me both both man we’re
Looking at that 165 yards might be a five maybe even a four their losss may be stronger as well to go with that speed and some probably are warrant Jimmy Wood lives in Arizona and play a strong lofted seven iron goes 170 off the T there you go here you go he’s not
Wrong all right when paying electric bills depends on your golf swing swing gets really good yeah you always hear all those stories the old guys like Lee travina and those guys you know you learn to play really good golf when you make a uh a $10 bet with only $5 in your
Pocket and you learn how to play Lawrence is doing well waiting for the snow to milk glad I got out twice last week we’re in the second winner here in New Jersey no doubt no doubt Richard tan how do you how you doing sir is there a difference between
Cutting down a Putter and reshafting a putter to the desired length How does cutting down or reshafting affect the swing we of the putter well it depends so Richard depends on how much you want to you want to cut it down there literally is no difference if you if if
You’re looking at just correcting for length you would pop off the grip and you would cut it down away you go and now the thing is if you cut too much there’s a part on the shaft where it starts tapering in and if you cut too much off
Say three inches or something like that you can get into that part of the taper now you can add buildup tape and make so that the grip doesn’t look funny but you’re in there a little you’re probably in there a little too far at that point you might want to
Consider taking some off of the bottom so that the grip would fit properly that’s one uh if you are trying to make it a little bit more stable then you’re going to want to take it out and cut from the tip section that’s a little different too but it’s not going to the
Effect is equal whether or not you cut you got a shaft that is cut that is the proper length and you install it or you take one that’s longer and you cut it off the effect is the same now as far as swing weight when you make them shorter they’re going to get
Lighter uh sometimes that’s a good thing right and so before you go crazy on on worrying about swing weight and you’re really interested in it and if you’re not going to put a massively heavy grip on it then uh because what we’re seeing now is if you
Back weight a Putter and you and you put the weight underneath your hands that you tend to smooth out your putt more so you could look at uh was it the super stroke’s got some weights you can just install naturally or if you’re a little bit more Hands-On
That they have these back weights from tour lock or balance certified and you can put them in the back end and weight down your putter there and that Smooths out your stroke the the most popular putter that was on tour for the last two years was that Odyssey stroke lab and in
That back of that stroke lab is that very thing it’s the thing about that big in order to do that very thing that we’re talking about I’m a little handicapped player but seem to get better strikes when irons are slightly offset I played to plus one why would this be or slightly
Offset well Michael the there’s nothing saying that just because you’re a plus one that you have to have a z zero offset put or zero offset on your irons there there’s very there is probably if there is any there may there was one when I was earlier on they had a
Zero offset they all have a slight offset it’s measured in millimeters right the like for instance the the mauno blade right or even in the Wilson Blade those are all measured in millimeters that they that they have a slight offset and that slight offset is just nothing more than to give you that
It’s a blink of an eye you know just tenth of a second to get the club closed or when you set it down at a dress it allows you to set your hands in the way that works for you the best that’s all that’s doing for you it really I
Wouldn’t get too too hung up on it I mean there’s I mean look at you know for instance Freddy Couples right Freddy Couples used a fivewood with a Ladi flex shaft in it oh that’s completely unheard of yet this guy creamed that club so basically it’s whatever works so if you
Have clubs that are slightly offset and you can play to a plus one I’d say that’s pretty outstanding and and you’d be all right with that one now if you’re a guy you say you’re plus one and you’re and you got one like you’re doing it with you know super game improvement
Clubs that have like a you know a whole states worth of offset on it then uh and you’re looking to change well then that’s lessons right because you already know the swing but you’re also getting around it and and at plus one it’s not so much the mechanics but it’s about how
You manage your course and manage your game because you’re already striking a ball well but again just a little bit of offset that’s the design and most of the best golf clubs that are out there and that’s ever so slightly am Mount and it’s not I wouldn’t even effectively it would be Zero Alec bongin not prun okay put a steel shaft in my hybrid I play single length hit it Lightyear’s better deadly off the te okay well you need that what you’re doing is you’re getting it in the weight in order so it feels like the other ones and you’re
Getting the benefit of having a uh a hybrid which gives a little bit more spring so not not a bad little combination all right Robin saying hey hit that Thumbs Up Guys and Gals thank you I can do that be just a hair heavier but not too bad can you recommend any expensive
Steel shaft similar with weight 110 a profile of S3 00 well the only people out there that are making inexpensive shaft is Apollo Now is it going to be a profile that’s that’s like it no because that’s what the DG is all about but it’s an inexpensive shaft and it come it doesn’t
Do a bad job but I would look at Apollo oh look at that down to the bottom it’s going to work out good Mike is I’m 65 and have some in arms to my hand so a huge swing art I’m a late release helps me generate speed through
The ball so weighs about also weigh about 250 and get my hips through you’re killing it then Mike you are absolutely killing it Robin saying hello to Ron G okay so look here I got four minutes to go I’m down to the bottom guys I appreciate it I hate to cut you short
But I do really have to get going and don’t forget we’re going to be talking about the mauno driver first mauno driver first we got the Cleveland in the wings and the redo of the Wilsons and then I used my Wilson rep to do some golf club making Basics so we’re
Starting to ramp up get a bit of a library to get posting so keep an eye out you’ll see it out there don’t forget to like And subscribe hit that bell all that other stuff uh and then we’ll go from there and then the uh also uh don’t forget to watch them you
Know and if you got if you get bored and you want to see some videos of golf clubs you can go to Instagram or you can go to the other one alrighty so got one more thing Alec wants to know thoughts on smt drivers I used to carry them they
Were really nice but you know and and they were they were very nice and they’re very small Golf Club um but you got to hit it in the direct Center if you want everything to come out of it which is really hard to do all righty
Guys thanks guys I appreciate it I am we’re going to see if I can’t get them full of mash ters and uh Mash taters and meatloaf again thanks a lot and let’s see your scores go low and then I got to get you onto this thing here here we go
Here we go here we go bang
