And welcome to the Australian Lacrosse Network it is Championship time down here at the Alan Le box court for the 2024 lacrosse Australia women’s box Lacrosse Nationals and it is a rematch of the 23 inaugural match between wa and Victoria and Victoria notorious last year in the first ever but I tell you

What wa you will not underestimate them I have uh seen some signs this week that they may just cause a little upset here and uh I will put it out there at the moment that uh I you should always gamble responsibly but I am on wa tonight so um the

Uh rest of the uh proceedings are about the official proceedings are about to um take place and we have the lights just starting to take effect out here so I believe the uh the way we are going to run at the moment is the players will be announced onto the

Field and then they are going to play the national anthem and then it is game time out here and they are playing for something that uh is very special it’s is the conned cup and uh Kath conned just uh being the naming right to the cup ladies and gentlemen and welcome to

Here for this game Charlotte had a uh big game today uh for sa but uh yeah no definitely excited to be back here I think we did this last year we called it and uh it was good fun to be on the sideline well not good fun to be on the

Sideline we love to be in this game but um just to continue to see the growth of it is super exciting for the for the girls the ConEd cup just watching Kath walk I mean we’ve spent a lot of time with Kath in sa and she’s she’s a legend

Just she gives this game everything she gives it everything she gives the girls everything and I am so so proud that she’s been recognized um and has done so much in every state so I think it’s super special that uh we we get to give it out and the cup now belongs to

Someone so well as the girls just come out I I wrote a couple of things down here at the conedy cup from she was a South Australian National player from 85 to 95 Hall of Famer uh 1995 under 19 gold medal in the world cup and silver

Medal in 99 um I mean that in itself as a resume I would love to have half of that and now you’ve got a trophy named after you tell you what that we the resume is just getting better we mighton take away I tell you what’s going to

Happen though is Brendan pink and the CH crew chief here is going to set him down and Nicole btz is going to be the face off for the victorians and on the uh wa side out there at the moment we’ve got Natasha Broner and they are about to

Set and here we go Championship time and uh the whistle happens there we go and Dharma band picks it up straight away we’re right in the action here now and the ball Kicks Down The Back Suarez jury over back to Suarez jury great save in

The cage there from day and day gets it to out to wills and wills has some Motors doesn’t she she is a brilliant athlete she had a wonderful game yesterday so can’t wait to watch her tonight Emma green with the ball Emma Green’s been very good I’ll tell you

Who’s been really good this lady here Kate Hooper she is very difficult and slippery and Kate Hooper looks to go and a great save down the bottom there and it’ll turn back the other way look at the wheels here from hadn oh that’s not hadin that’s me Bowen and me

Bowen gets the first goal of the game and great take down the field and uh Pace beats everything doesn’t it she’s done that a few times this tournament and um as an under 20 Australian player she has She’s Fit She’s Fit Fast and uh very agile so I would back her 10 times

Out of 10 to score that every every day of the week so a shot had though down the Victorian end and in the cage down there for Victoria is Natalie Miller ball starts again posio ke she’s been very good throughout the week pose and uh a pick up there a little flick down

And on that’s a very good backand back to Great pass kicks it out there now and she had an outstanding game here elen mcgoran fires again good save down there for day now D I saw being stretched out a little bit been pre warm up had a bit of a sord

Back so we’ll see how that plays out sh well wa have had to play three games in 26 hours so you you’ve got to it’s got to give somewhere it does indeed and ball kicks back down now as brown steps around she’s been very good for the week

Too and uh she used my stick the other day and got seven and then uh it’s right next to me so I said I’d only hire it out to him and ball comes out oh nice bounce off the fence there finds Rooney Rooney under Pace hadwin inside just gets a

Little touch up over there as she picks herself up off the felt all clean and ball coming back the other way for wa through anov but anov just turns the ball over but picked up by portlock portlock oh that’s dangerous coming into the middle oh big swipe and uh Bryce

Burges Bryce and finds on the bottom there that’s hadwin Daniel hadwin I mean this is the start Victoria would have wanted Victoria would have definitely lik this Abby Burgess coming in off that sub with Pace H got to give it to Zoe though getting that position and it’s

Hard when you you’ve got a shot um with no defense and they’re able to get a solid fake off and and finish there but um yeah great from Victoria so great start here from Victoria we saw this in the uh three4 playoff for men today oh

To go into the game with wa and sa and 7 nil was the first quarter score 71 um and that’s the way to to to assert your dominance isn’t it as the dominance is being picked up there that’s two good ground balls there from Mollison yeah

Sarah’s a good one to watch I think she just controls the tempo from Victoria so uh yeah she’s probably expecting some big things in this game from her Burgess Bryce up to Suarez jury just picked in the under 20 you’ve had a fair bit to do with that Suarez jury she’s a great

Little athlete MIM MIM looks in and ball coming over that’s tipped as Marty Baker just calls a tip I thought I thought he was coming down there to uh try and get the ball and uh clock will run out and will be a Wa ball so wa an opportunity

Here to send their offense on as we have chenworth Hoopa tatlo green and uh down the back corner there is Davis and W have been good at this they can um they they’re quite good at keeping physical but also moving that ball so ball down

Here fire GRE oh there we go and on Q Emma green jez I called that I’ll say it sh I called that she had the rub of the green then didn’t she and uh and that’s what I was saying wa is so good at using their strength they’re so good at

Getting in and then not letting that Defender push them off and able to free their hands up for a shot so good that’s a great uh individual effort there by Emig green and uh fast and frenetic is where you thought it might be at the start ball in and Carson’s been really

Good in the middle too there up against hallow hallow just flicks the ball out finds mcgoran mcgoran was everywhere last night I I nearly nicknamed her the Energizer Bunny cuz she had I looked up she was in defense looked down and she was in offense and scored goals so uh

And not afraid of anything out there is mcor definitely not and we can see the balls are just chilling on the deck don’t know if there’s a shock looking play at the moment well as and there we go picked up there by Ranna chenworth who kicks it to Carson Carson looking

For a only 8 seconds so there is 7 seconds on the shot clock 5 Seconds need to get a shot from Green oh that one bounces up and over and ball will turn over here to Victoria and uh very messy on the ground yeah I think that’s a bit

Of a difference with the the men’s and the women’s six still that we need to pick up on a bit better is just understanding our Top Hand and getting shots off like that so that will come with with experience through the game so two dogged players there coming up

Against each other both wearing 12 in Lucy wills and uh Plum they were battling over on the back wall over there and Bal to be one on the center and I’ve really liked young Dharma Bandu she doesn’t mind sticking her head over the ball and uh with the potential of

Getting it knocked off she doesn’t and I think Victoria allowed their Juniors to get into the game a bit so having the the support of their senior players and uh making sure that that they are there that when they need that support that they can help them out

So and and that shows in this lineup imagin Hall 15 years old yeah yeah it’s great it’s great for the game I was watching her last night going this girl is going to be a great player as a shot is fired there great save ball oh this

Could be danger jury she has put four M on Brown and Brown is uh no slouch in the legs she is not that’s a good Chase there that’s two athletes at PACE but big from Zoe look Zoe’s been huge in the cage for the week and probably one of

The big reasons as that’s that’s going to be a boarding and we’re going to have a penalty potentially no turnover so uh that’s uh unfortunate just cuz I don’t think the gate was shut but from our angle Tony that did look a little bit high but um it’s hard that’s

It’s hard to call when it’s l messy yep and Marty Baker will give it to MIM and MIM kicks it there to burges price and Burgess Bryce had a game last night too as uh Miriam puts it in nice Cut there from bound I’ll tell you what she has

MVP in her eyesight for this championship game she does she is putting a stamp on and like I said she has so much to her game Meg has added character and flare and um she is going to be one to watch not just now and not

In under 20s but for the next probably 15 20 years if she sticks with the sport so obviously you’re involved with the Australian level at the moment so you’re getting to see some of these players come through yeah it’s it’s really exciting and um yeah I think I do think

That lacrosse right now there’s so much happening Tony between 20s and box and Olympics and field it’s no better time to get involved in the game and look at the moment you’ve been involved with just about all of it it’s it’s nice to take a break and sit here and commentate

It is it is the ball up here with green green nice check there great check and uh but uh Chen worth and an opportunity here again for Victoria looks inside just couldn’t quite oh Bang have some of that they say Sean Brown box Lacrosse and I’ll tell you what there’s a penalty coming

Here penalty here and we’re going to stop the clock and uh that could be on a uh just getting some clarification going to say I’m not sure where that clarification was but uh they’re pointing Lucy Wills here as a penalty but there’s another penalty coming the other side there for Natasha Rooney and

It looks like Hallows is going in as well no Rooney she she got in there and now she gets uh exited out oh no back in there it’s like a revolving restaurant over there that’s uh you made a booking you didn’t make a booking you made a

Burgess Bry and uh she’s just the two 11s out there yeah I the two 12s went at it before with each other I’ll tell you what there’s one for the kids out there there is or that there’s definitely a fair few cars that might need some

Repair after this week yeah but they got a they it’s like gmth they just made $6 out there the kids yeah got a new ball this this true that’s going to be yeah the push and we’re going to have wa here there five on four still and then again that shot Tony at

That end it’s just um we just need that experience with the with the men sticks and and recognizing how to get those powerful shots off yeah like well just from this year to last year oh crazy crazy and I can tell you there’s some girls out there in all teams who picked

Up a men’s stick oh nice little quick stick there from brown but B it’s coming back with Pace isn’t it here and that is Pace there we go Miriam Suarez jury just pops that one wide and uh gets back and uh looks for the uh defensive play ball

To be one on the ground is one by hadwin hadwin just picks the ball up and flicks it up there to bound mag again she’s uh been involved in a fair bit already like you said stamping her name on the game so uh just her IQ at the moment is

Insane and um probably make something up from this penalty release for Victoria but does that mean they’ve got too many on cuz there’s already one in the Box no so there’s two simultaneous still in the box so it’s still five on five but they just can’t be released as the ball gets

Saved there by day see I’m asking all the hard questions on now I mean you’re kind to go you’re going to go to the worlds hopefully you need to know these rules and answered correctly so ball down the back here with Hoopa Hoopa looks inside finds Davis not there stalia oh that’s

Little one from behind so it’s coming I saw a video and I actually saw one live here the first day I got here but and uh there was no uh no replay anything no but the commentary in my head sh you should have heard it go off I said that

Starting to see the Shadows on the uh and as it darkens down this place under lights good look inside look nice little stick face good save up top there from Miller Miller gets a reset here for wa Emma green kicks the ball up to tatlo tatlo

Down to Hooper Hooper goes and sets a pick goes under oh steps in nice save again going to get another reset if they can get the ball but they can’t and uh Bra House gives it up here to B and B is uh she’s off literally getting down the

Pitch great Pace look at the trailers here mcgoran gets on good pressure there though from POS great pressure from POS that will be uh yeah over and back there and they’re the little things that weren’t happening last year no and that’s I think the difference between

This year and last year is those extra 1centers and we’ve still got a lot to learn but it’s just we’ve gotten better every State’s gotten better everyone’s gotten better um and we’re still learning and it’s and from game one we’ve gotten better to this game so it’s great looks inside Brown again shooting

Maybe she needs to borrow stick again with your special mesh that’s my special mesh oh that’s over and back so and these these over and backs do kill you but look at look at the two victorians get down there I mean that Suarez jury just says hey I’m here give

Me the ball she’s got the pace so she gets it in her stick now flicks it up to Mollison we get a substitution happening there as Rooney comes off Mollison comes on Burgess Bryce comes on she’s always at PACE with Suarez jury Suarez jury fires great save there from day going to

For the first time tonight so so two minute slash call there’s two balls on the field there’s another ball on the field just near us you can always go out and get it and give it to the commentators we don’t mind taking free balls hey I saw something in the last

Game where there was two balls on and they playing one went down to score and Jack is sitting up here for for New South Wales game but I’ve got the ball in my stick anyway what do you do I mean I would have I was calling the goal

Coming down here and Jack sitting up there he can’t have it got it it no so power play here as a two-minute slash was had there from moer up the top Mollison if she gets a chance to step in she will little bures Bryce that is uh I think in the leg the

Leg good movement there by Abby burges though that’s a great little fake pump and then coming around to get better angle so Port loock doesn’t mind a little bit of transition does Port loock as uh Hooper getting a little bit of love there as in this uh unsettled numbers good work there to

Come and set a pick Brown and just got to just got to wind this down no 6 seconds on the shot clock oh fires great pick up there from Miller and Miller just uh throws the ball out there to btz buttz oh just gets crunched by

Was moving it is but uh just a little check from behind there so Victoria will get that back little flick here to Mollison Mollison has great subbing movement for Victoria I’ve just got to say I think what at both teams they are getting in and out quickly which is it’s

Good box across that’s a thing and another thing that they improve well we’ve all improved on is understanding the bench oh I I think it is steps and in 12 months I can’t wait to see what it’s like in 5 years I think the guys and girls will be playing against each

Other and I’m going to say we might have some games yes 100% as the ball is reset here to Victoria shot had off the keeper Suarez jurri still in penalty here looking to uh just create oh just clearing space there was uh hallow and uh 15 seconds on the shot

Think it’s handy the uh the victorians have her as a lefty I think they’ve got a couple of lefties um wa don’t think they have one so there a lot of their offense has to come from the right side and it’s it’s a bit challenging but they

Make it work wa they they’ve got a very strong unit on that right side but yeah positives for Victoria to have two of them that they can lean on B ktz up against Posey in the middle and Posey picks the ball up can she get one back

In this fine game as the ball gets speed there by Brown and gets a push penalty coming and B if she picks it up if she picks it up will and you can hear Benji Max the coach block don’t let her pick it up it’s I think the penalties come though

So Meg will be off for I believe minutes I think that’ll be a push yeah so 2 minutes but with there’s only 26 seconds left in the uh two minutes check from behind so only uh 26 seconds left in the first term and I’ll tell you what if

There’s a goal that is needed right now at 4-1 Western Australia would love to put one in so they will have last shot and shot clock is well under over game clock they uh they probably don’t want to look at the shot clock though cuz if they’re

Shooting with the last 5 Seconds it will be the uh round nail up over it need to get back on the ball so 6 seconds left in the first turn need to get the ball down does get the ball down Davis fires good save down there from Miller and

That will end us for the first quarter in what was a thrilling first quarter sha huge huge first quarter I think um wa probably deserved to have one one or two more on the board in that for their effort but big first quarter for the for the final match so

Both goalies have been great Miller and day so uh they’re playing well for their respective sides and as we see on the scoreboard there 4-1 and we might just have a a quick break to reset something in the back and uh we’ll be back very shortly on the Australian Lacrosse Network

Their effort cuz they’re working really hard but you got to give it to Victoria as well they are holding them out and they’re probably baiting where they want them to shoot cuz they know KN how uh they KN how their strong Shooters are and and the impact it can have on the

Game if they get into the spot they want so it’s going to be an interesting second quarter Tony that uh it felt like that quarter went very quickly the excitement levels were high that high yeah and that was only in the Box here just with me having you in here um

Victoria and we have H Hallows in the middle there she is just been a beast Steph howow this week has been huge for Victoria oh look Bronco’s getting in there and ball coming out the other way there’s Wills Been Everywhere this week she has been everywhere she got the MVP

Yesterday in our game and um she’s definitely working hard in this game yeah Liv Wills just very tenacious yes in the uh and one of the best attitudes going around yeah just loves it doesn’t she just loves it as I said I was lucky enough to interview the three sisters

Last year after the final and like they won it it’s green fir oh I tell you what and that’s a difference isn’t it dropping hands with the pocket Hooper just uh tell you what I don’t I don’t shoot that fast with the men stick no

And M she if she gets them on target she is a Powerhouse she uh both ends of the field so just got to keep attacking VI Wa ball down the back here so uh that is D Bandu who kicks it up to Suarez jury Suarez jury just uh sets it a little

Justen yeah me still in the box there probably a minute or so and here’s the pace that comes from Suarez durur good save ball to be one on the crease and that will be picked up by day day looks on the outer side finds POS o o’keef

Looks up Hoopa does too but she has a has a Entourage of four blue suits going with her as Hooper gets the ball up the top she is joined Now by Brown on her left and tatlo so Brown and tatlo just wants to be on the other side they are

In a power play situation so let’s see whether what their power play looks like green up the top she’s been a goal scorer already just Nails the oh bang there’s a bit of a knock there but that’s just rubbing his race and B already got two and look at where that bounced off

The goals and just couldn’t pick it up cleanly there so off the goals reset and B gets the ball in her stick again so uh she must love this game like she got a string on it at the moment she came on from that penalty wanting that ball and

Uh that’s a big for under 20y old and bound just on Q she knows we’re talking about her sh and she knows it’s a big live audience tonight on the Australian Lacrosse Network Meg bound with her third first of the uh second quarter and you’re right came out of the

She came out she wanted that came out of the box like the gry hand of the bunny didn’t she and I think she she’s not one to usually get penalties she’s quite a a clean and um controlled aggress aggressive player so she probably wanted to get one back for her team and um

Not much has got past Miller and uh not much still is getting past Miller but wa with the backup there that’s great backup by wa and this is what they’ve done most of the week is slowed the tempo down so they uh they can take the heat out of the ball and

Middle opens up and oh good save there from Dave but the ball flicks out the front and we’re going to have in the crease there and ball coming back the other way through uh the wa stick and that will come back through Emma green as well you really can feel the uh the

The passion in the game can’t you Tony and look at everyone around they’re on the they’re on the fence watching so it’s good to see well it’s a great crowd here down at Alan Le box field and just an inside step now she this is someone who would love to

Get on the board early cuz she has the ability to uh put a few away Brown Tegan if there is and that’s going to be a turnover there time there so looks like Tegan is probably getting picked up a little bit looks a bit of double team

Tonight Keith gagy uh brenon pingon and Martin Baker and uh they certainly uh didn’t have an impact on this game and that’s always great from officials as they were very very good and uh as the uh celebrations and the hugs and that all come around as handstands a had I

Tournament so far the level compared to last year has just stepped up so much and game on game on game each team is getting better and that is amazing to see I do not envy Chris’s job in a couple weeks but uh we what a we’re

Going to send an amazing team away and I’m super excited for that um our girls you left it all on the floor super proud of you and nothing more um congratulations to Victoria welld deserved we tried to come back and and then you just put your foot in and and

Two coaches and everyone else has kind of already said like massive snaps to every single player on this field like I think we just proved that we can what’s the term rough and touble I don’t know come out fighting just as hard as the boys can yeah and but seriously we’re

Only like two years deep into Box Lacrosse for women’s and the example that we’ve set so far is just so amazing like I’m proud proud of both teams to my team like I’m so proud of you guys because we bloody did it tough this tournament so just a little shout out to

You and a shout out to the Vick that came up firing tonight you really made us work for it personally I’m so excited to see where the Box Lacrosse for the Aussie girls go because oh my God we just showed that that gold medal is ours

For the taking if we really want it yeah so like so sorry Chris you’ve got a really tough decision ahead of you but oh my God so exciting congratulations everyone thank you okay now i’ like to call for the Victorian Captain Mel rickle to say a few

Words um yeah first of all thanks to wa um great game I think it doesn’t matter what we play you guys against whether it be field Sixers now box you guys just seem to always come out and bring in the final um and tonight was no different so

Thank you thank you very very much it was a fantastic game um to our girls well done you know we’ve um we’ve trained really really hard as I’m sure you guys have as well um we really hit it hard the last couple of weeks we have sacrificed a lot um I’m really proud

That we have quite a few mothers in our team that have had to you know really call upon those babysitters to uh to do their bit to make sure that they’ve been at training week in week out and I just hope that it’s all made it worth it now

That we’re going to be able to hold up this cup in a second um I also want to do a big shout out to our coaches Tony and ji um they also have sacrificed a lot um over the last couple of weeks Sundays and Tuesdays sometimes Thursdays

Phone calls on Wednesdays you know um Facebook messages on Mondays and Sundays and I think Tony we almost have a bit of a relationship going at the moment that um only we really knows going on um but yeah look again I think um not to sound

Too corny but Box Lacrosse is really the winner this uh this year because it really has stepped up from last year and man next year is just going to be next level again so I really look forward to it thanks guys here stay here and you’re going call them out one by

After this fantastic woman right here she’s an absolute Legend of Australian lacrosse and an absolute Beacon for world world women’s box across everywhere around the globe so I think on behalf of everyone I think we couldn’t be more proud to uh have this trophy here named after Katherine the
