Team TaylorMade’s Rory McIlroy, one of the best drivers of the golf ball of all time, recently made some equipment changes. This offseason he was looking to go from a 44-inch shaft to 45-inch, and was able to do so because of the forgiving shape of #Qi10Driver that kept a tight dispersion. Now that combo is paying off. He leads the Tour in Strokes Gained: Off-the-Tee, is sixth in driving distance and has hit 65% of fairways.

With the driver you’ve went from 44 in you’ve been playing that the last three years to 45 yes why have you got so comfortable doing that I played 45 for most of my career so I just felt like there’s no reason why I shouldn’t be able to hit a driver

That’s 45 in and and control it and do what I want to do with it the one thing that has made me comfortable going back to a long a slightly longer shaft is the profile of this qi1 core head um I sort of played the ls at the end of last year

And tried it out with the shorter shaft and was messing around at home and I just think that slightly larger profile the core head when I put the longer shaft in it it just it looks good to me yeah and I can find the middle of it a

Little easier I think sometimes when I’ve played the longer shaft I’ve I’ve struggled to find the middle of the face a little bit and then I go to the shorter shaft and I can find the middle a bit easier

  1. His driver swing is the definition of making a swing and letting the golf ball get in the way. So pretty.

  2. Watched a very young Rory at the PGA at Wentworth when about 6 people were following him…three of whom were friends and family. Trust me, he ripped it past everyone back then even as a skinny youngster.

    Phenomenal display of ball striking.

He needs a Masters in his cabinet.
