And his debut has been something to talk about we’re going to do that and much more right here at Club 54 pre-round show I am your host Christian Crosby and joining me is my guy Jerry in rehearsal I was your best friend in the world well yeah you’re still my best friend yeah

And then I hear your voice and I get excited about it a Jerry you know what that actually brings up a good point um it’s been about a month we’ve work together a whole month and um I want to tell you I really appreciate seems like 10 minutes you know that’s underwater

Yeah it has because you’ve been so welcoming and uh I actually want to take this time to toss back to a moment that I’ll never forget it was really touching to me let’s let’s take a look real quick here we go St to me as my best friend

We’re gonna put him up here as he as he gets ready for his day but what can we say about this man he just he seems to do it all right he had a great day what do you think none of it’s a surprise though John Rah is the best

Or one of the best players in the entire world and no that’s not a secret to anybody I think what John ROM feels as though even though he played well through two events already he hasn’t won yet and even though he knows he’s playing a lot of the greatest players in

The world each and every week he feels like he wants to stand out above them and there’s a lot of alpha males in this in this group of this collection of great players that is live golf he wants to be the alpha male he wants to be on

Top so even though this is only the third event I think he feels behind schedule Wow Let’s Take a look at some of his stats here and let’s talk about it hasn’t been with Liv go too long and look at these numbers he’s putting up numbers on the

Board yeah his Strokes gained throughout the season so basically that is seven rounds of golf and these are Strokes gained against the same 53 other competitors so it’s a really true metric second off the te that’s no surprise he’s always known as one of the greatest

Drivers in the game drivers of the golf ball fourth around the greens that is what makes him the world class player that he is a lot of people can hit the golf ball long ways a lot of people can hit it long ways with a little bit of

Accuracy but when you combine all of the tools that it takes to be a great golfer and add to that the self-belief that he has you have one of the short list of greatest players in the game currently now some of those other stats are a little disappointing to him 25th out of

54 players in mid approach that is well below his standards because he is a ball striking J Jesse as a good friend of mine used to say and so that will improve throughout the year and long Approach at 40th my goodness he is so good from that distance typically so

That is a little bit of surprise and as he brushes up and cleans those areas up then he becomes uh the player that wants to play his best each and every week and even though he’s contending each and every week out here when he puts it all together he’s on he’s borderline

Unbeatable well those are the numbers let’s take a look back at some of his best highlights from day one let’s check it out here’s John ROM in action Jerry let’s talk about it a little bit here we go well he said the difference between a

Good round and a great round was just a few three he said three long birdie putts those are the putts this length right here as we saw on number six only his fourth hole of the day those you don’t expect to make these you do expect

To make from this distance you only make less than about 40% statistically from that distance but you expect to make those when they go in it’s just a little bit of a bonus you feel like you’re supposed to but you don’t do it quite as often as you want this one’s a little

Bit of a bonus right here as well at 16 for birdie he pointed to that one specifically as one that really was a Difference Maker in the round even though it came late and this was his final hole of the day number two and this one just was never going to miss

The center of the hole look at that right there it makes it look easy walks off like it’s no big deal at all no that’s why he’s got his name on his bag that’s why all right let’s talk about his team Legion 13 starting off their

Debut Amaya Koba and winning in Mya Koba uh that’s not easy to do no and it was a little bit of a surprise not because John Ron played well and not because Terell Hatton played well but because there were two unproven products in Caleb satat who we’re looking at right

Here and Kieran Vincent now Kieran Vincent was had a reputation to be a pretty good player we didn’t know how good a player he was going to be because he was he just turned Pro recently as well and he didn’t have quite the resume that this young man had in Amateur Golf

Now Caleb rat’s only 19 years old I got sweaters older than him and he had a great resume through amateur in college golf at the University of Tennessee but a lot of times that doesn’t always translate to the professional game especially when you’re looking up and

Down the range at the guys he’s looking up and down the range at as part of live golf he came out and basically was the most valuable player on Sunday in Mexico for Legion 13 buring five of his last six that was the Difference Maker and

Them going on to Victory and he has continued since then so much to like about this young man in his golf game but when you talk to him away from the game he’s even more impressive well we’ve mentioned their win in mayakoba quite a few times let’s take look back

At their time myova check it out was assess the penalty right so that took us from five back to three back okay we can actually truly do this right we can make that up on the first hole now then Karen Vincent we didn’t really have a game

Plan it wasn’t like Jal you do this Caleb you do this it was more of just go play golf and see what [Applause] happens it was so clean you know I was I was just cruising Legion 13 at 12 under for the day they’re easily the best in class on Championship Sunday and

They lead by seven I struggle on whole 17 all Week no he knew it and I just I hit another bad one oh no oh no no no I had the triple and then I literally look up at the leaderboard and as I’m walking to the next te we go from a four shot lead to one one shot lead kind up

Seven I mean I didn’t even talk to my caddy on the way in I just told him on AT&T that we’re going to get it back Caleb s for a bounce back birdie after that triple bogy well played young man I just kept telling myself one more just

One more one more Cale lookat for another bird pulled up next to me to the light I’d have to wonder how he got a driver’s license so young looking well Legion 13 are going to win their debut competition in live golf what a start for them one thing we spoke about a

Little bit is how cool it was to be able to do that without Rah playing his best in the final round oh that was SI I was having the roughest day it truly was a team effort right if you could describe teamwork as a feeling you you you could feel it right

There I didn’t even hold the champagne I I’m the designated trophy holder for the next couple years at least man Caleb aat that’s a a special kid you know what was cool was watching how emotional John ROM was when he hugged those guys afterwards because that was

His first tournament in team golf other than playing in a Ryder Cup um and he was hugely disappointed in his individual outcome at the end of the day and and even in his interview with suan it took him a moment to to get that behind him and it was really impressive

The way he kind of transformed from the disappointed individual competitor to the the proud papa if you will as the captain of the Legion 13 and when you saw that emotional hug with his team man I was having such a bad day and you guys it lifted that is the different Dynamic

That live golf brings to the professional sports AR love love to see it it’s good because John speaks so highly of Caleb a lot he’s such a young guy and Caleb speaks so highly about John and you spent time with Caleb my question for you about him specifically

Is what do you think it is that keeps him so composed at such a young age with all this pressure being on a new team know his parents but you’re a product of your environment you’re a product of your upbringing you’re a product of your parents and I can only point the finger

At them and I don’t even know them um he’s he’s an exceptional young human being he’s driven he’s focused he’s Pleasant he’s kind he’s good-hearted he’s everything you would want in your child and and I imagine his parents have to be so proud of the human he is not

Necessarily the player he’s a great player he’s going to go a long way in this game but the human being that is is even more impressive so you’re saying huge possibility it could be team winners here in jeda yeah they’re they’re one of the the favorites each week they’re absolutely one of the

Favorites each week until they prove otherwise and and that would uh you know it could be understanding if Caleb went through a few Growing Pains or Kieran vinent went through a few Growing Pains out here and counting all four scores on Sunday you can’t hide them but uh yeah

Everybody Liv is really thrilled that he’s a part of the collective team I know the cleaks are very very positive and very excited about him being a member of their specific team what do you think they do to keep this momentum just as a team uh it’s a

Podium appearance right here in jeda last year so with the new roster they’re looking for more this year captain at the head of the table well you know the last couple years we didn’t really perform the way we wanted the Cs have a lot of work to do

Martin had a pretty serious wrist injury back of 2022 clicks are really struggling on the opening day yeah it was I think it was a tough year for the cleaks now we just want to welcome you to the team it’s going to be really it’s

Us in the world of golf who who don’t follow the DP world iour are on a regular basis um didn’t really know the name very well and he goes out and he’s medalist he is the winner of the live golf promotions at Abu Dhabi and gets

His spot in the league as a member of the cleaks this year and uh and he’s a very popular guy on that team they all really really like him can’t wait to see what the cleaks do in day two but one of the biggest stories of Jetta is this guy

Right here Anthony Kim nearly retired 12 years back as a wild card and not a bad day in day one not a bad day at all I mean he he says he’d be lying if he didn’t think his expectations were a little higher but I think when you see
