Every time you get new wedges you must make sure the gapping is correct so you can hit every shot you need.

All right I have recently got the new vogi sm10 wedges and like many people I got a 48 Dee and I got 4° Loft gapping in between each wedge so we go 48 52 that’s 4° then we go 56 then we have a 60° wedge that’s kind of the standard
Operating procedure for getting wedges however then we run into a big problem my pitching wedge is a 44° which is perfect gapping between this wedge and my pitching wedge so then we have pitching wedge and four more wedges fantastic there’s another problem doing
That I have 15 clubs in my bag so I have one too many so one Club has to go so we’ve got to get the gapping right and eliminate a club so let’s do that all right so I came to Elite fit golf to meet Adam and he’s going to get us fixed
Up with our club gapping because one of the major problems is my pitching wedge will go like 135 okay but then my pitching wedge goes5 you know so we got a problem unless we keep both and then but then I got to lose another club well you got
You got too many clubs right now so we got to figure out what’s the best way to get you your your gas that you’re trying to hit and and whether that’s keeping all of them and dumping something from the long end or can we Bend some things and
Actually make it better get them closer cuz we want that scoring Zone from you know whatever zero to 150 to we want we don’t want to mess around we want every yardage we need you know it’s highly recommended when you buy a set of wedges that you get four but then it doesn’t
Match your iron set and then that’s where the major problems comes in that’s where yeah yeah definitely a big problem ESP especially with so many of the irons now having aggressive Lofts on them 44 degree pitching wedge leads to you know if you go to 47 degree pitching wedge this
Really wouldn’t be a conversation so all right so where do we start okay so we’re going to have you first off we’re just going to do sort of a mini gapping session we’ll have you hit uh nine pitching wedge pitching wedge okay Gap sand uh lob wedge and kind of see where
We’re at right now as far as what kind of distance you’re getting what the gapping is and then see what makes the most sense to try in make it all fit in your bag correctly beautiful all right let’s do it okay so we’re actually doing pitching wedge through lob wedge for the
Gapping but we’re calling pitching wedge one tidalist team 150 is going to be called a nine iron for the testing process but just know it’s really a pitching wedge we’re using GC quad with their gapping technology next shot it’s not going to give you any data oh it’s telling me nothing right now
Yeah I felt good if you start showing people numbers they start trying to swing harder I like that so they they keep it a secret so it’ll just show you on here where they are but it won’t give you any numbers if you’re happy with those three
We can keep them if you want to hit another one to get a some happy if you want to see what those are yeah let’s see 126 127 134 are the numbers okay should I hit one more you want to hit one more let’s uh lose the last one okay
I’m going to say keep hitting yeah probably my normal shot it’s going to be pretty close to the first one I think the other draw oh that one went far oh yeah well that’ll that’ll average out probably to about where we want and actually yeah okay so we’ll just pull
Out the short one there okay next all right now we’re going to uh this pitching wedge is 48° vogi sm10 if they went the same distance we wouldn’t have a problem we just get rid of one just get yeah better I’m going 52° wedge which is like a gap wedge 56
All they’re all the same all the same look at it bit that pretty good right there ni 96 96 94 I’ll take it that’s why you’re Mr short game I should be Mr 56 so this is all carry numbers perfect so what we’ve got here again this being
Your 44 degree averaged out at 131 perfect got a 12 yard Gap here okay 15 here it’s pretty good gapping really I thought this might be the big bigger Gap so if I keep that pitching wedge and then keep that 48 right yeah or I don’t
Know we’ll figure that out yeah and then there’s a big gap here right the gap wedge is a little weak and then The Sand Wedge I mean 10 yards is about what you want Eight’s a little tight between the Gap and the sand okay so would you recommend tweaking these and losing one
Of these or tweaking these and losing like a long Club so we’re cover in a grand total of what 13 45 yards yeah for 1 2 3 four five clubs so that’s that’s nine yard progression per Club per Club if we’re being perfect so the question
Is do you want to try and have a nine yard per Club option or if we drop it to four then it’s 4 into 45 and we’re talking 11 yards gapping um and going at it that way I think that’s probably the way to you know to look at it just is is
What makes more sense it just becomes a matter of which club do we want to kind of I guess I mean I know I want to keep the 60 right 100% right and um the rest of them would be I’m you know up for grabs yeah so yeah so I think it
Probably makes sense to see if we can’t try and play around with the gap wedge Sand Wedge a little bit and see if we can’t mhm maybe push these guys this way and maybe the pitching the the 48 okay so here’s here’s what we’re thinking so
We’re taking the 52 we’re going to bend it for now to 50 that’s we’re going to start there and see what happens and our 12 degree bounce is going to go to 10 right because those two things are locked together so which should be fine yeah that’s great and then the 56 we’re
Going to crank it to uh 54 right and my 10° is going to go to eight and so less bounce which will be great for those hard p hand Li so I’m cool cuz my short is decent so I I could be okay with the less balce on this one but then the
Bunker Club is my 60 anyways that stays where it’s at right you might ask why don’t you just order the or get the wedges you need a lot of times you don’t know until you compare it with your full set or you just order online what you
Think or what you had before you got to go get your stuff and then test it again and then adjust it accordingly 50 on the dot good ooh oo see what the carry was 101 carry 101 that felt we definitely had 105 yeah 106 we’re kind of averaging right around
That 105 number and then we’ve got the 52 which is now 50 and so this should go 115 would be great we’ll we’ll see if we can get there with two degre 113 113 115 115 is good of everything and then the pitching wedge is 1 13 so we’re
Going with that the 60 the 56 bent to 54 the 52 bent to 50 then to the standard t150 pitching ledge at 44 Dees so now our gapping is dialed in we don’t have to get rid of a 4 iron well and I keep everything gapping is
Good scoring clubs are where they need to be Adam here Elite fit golf getting our wedges dialed in thank you so much for just putting the finishing touches on the SM of course that’s what you have to do you can’t just buy them off the rack and
Assume they’re going to buy them if you’re in Atlanta Le pick off link below make sure you uh give them a follow check them out and uh thanks so much man thank for having me thanks for coming in all right love you guys see you next time

Adam @elitefitgolf is amazing. Went in for a fitting twice and he's so honest and helpful. Doesn't try sell you things you dont need and always makes sure you are fit correctly.
The wedge between a pitching wedge and gap wedge is usually referred to as an approach wedge. So what we have here is a PW, AW, GW, SW, and LW.
My PW is 130, gap wedge is 115, 54 degree is 102, and 58 degree is 85. I actually use the gap wedge that came with the set of Mizuno Hot Metals. I have a Volkey 50 degree wedge that is equivalent but for whatever reason am more consistent with the Mizuno G-wedge.
I watched the second half twice. And i am still not sure what you did or what club you got rid of.
You two are spending a couple of hours together. Constantly talking numbers and hitting golf balls
We saw the original gapping numbers in a chart. But never did at the end. We just get a whole bunch of old and new numbers thrown at us.
I was so glad you didnt show mister short game the numbers in the original gapping. Then showed him distances after every shot in the sceond gapping. That was a mistake.
You could have done a second scenario and kept all the wedges and figured out which long club to remove. Which makes sence for the majority of us.
Once again. I love the show. But will point out issues
There’s nothing like this place where I live. So I just have to figure it out and order what I need. My gapping goes by 5*. 49* mizuno 225, 54* & 59* t22. My problem, I think, is the 49* 225 comes out hotter. So my yardage is like 115 (120 if I catch it good), 90, 75. My pitching wedge, btw, is around 125-130. Seems like I should get my gap wedge bent weaker, maybe? That would mess with the bounce though sounds like.
Scary he can't do math lol. If you have 5 clubs, you divide total distance by 4 gaps not by 5 clubs lol 😂 it's 43 divided by 3 to get 14 yard gapping is what you need. Lololol
When you loft jack your irons you need more wedges… surprise. I guess drop your 4i that’s a 3i now.
MrShortGame Golf always has the nicest shoes…
I’ve got 60-56 cranked to 55-and a 50 then pw and just choking down when trying to shave yds, 3 wedges plus a pw is more than enough surely, gave me an opportunity to chuck a driving iron in then ..🏌🏻🇺🇸🏴
buy clubs that are not jacked
problem solved
Was there any thought of bending 44 to 45 and then have a 50/55/60 setup with vokeys?
My problem is that I don't consistently hit any club well enough to say which one I want to lose, but I have a driver, 3 and 5 wood, then 3-9, pw, and the lazrus 3 pack (52,56,60) and a putter.
4:35 Mr 5’6
MSG…what shafts are in your Titleist irons? Not wedges, but 9, 8, 7…
My pw is 44. I have 3 vokeys. 48,54, and 60. Works great.
most wedges are cast iron , which is harder to bend ?
Dealing with this now. Went 44,50,54, 58
this is great stuff! Two of my favorite golf YouTubers! Another thing…can you two do another video addressing the flattening of wedge lies? You hear that a lot these days that pros flatten their wedges, especially if they are wedges they take full shots with, otherwise, you wind up pulling shots…any truth to that and what say you on this??? BTW, nice, “I’m a pretty good wedge player.” Really??? You’re MR. FREAKIN’ SHORT GAME!!! You’d better be a little better than pretty good! LOL…
How about 44 pw, 50°, 54°, 58°…that's the setup I ended up with.
I had the exact same issue and lost the LW and the additional PW. So the set up is 44 (set PW) 50 and 56 SM9. The 56 is M grind and opens up really nicely so I don’t miss the LW at all.
When you bend a wedge, don't you effect bounce??
Thats what I went with too. T100 Pw bent to 45, 50, 54, 60. Hardly ever taking a full cut with the 60.
So you went 44, 50, 54 and 60? That would never work for me. From my 6 iron to LW, I have 4 degree separation between each club. So, I go 42 (9 iron), 46 PW, 50, 54 and 58. It is perfect for me and I do not miss the 60. I guess the idea is to do whatever gives you the most confidence. Great video. I think it is so important for us to tinker on this level and find what works best.
Is there a reason you didn’t start with your actual 9 to determine the gap there ?
man… I'm so envious of your swing. it's butter, effortless… I have to GO for it to get your yardages. If I swing smooth like you I'm about 30yds short…. 🙁
Matt, have you switched to an X100 shaft in all your wedges? I recall the testing you and Adam did swapping out the standard wedge shaft for a 7/8i X100 shaft. Of course cutting the butt down to the right length. After watching that video, I swapped out the shaft in my 60°. It flies lower and spins more (prov 1) and I think it's more accurate directionally. I'm be doing my other two wedges shortly.
You are Mr short game 😂
Irons are Waaay to Strong these days! Thus the conundrum of having too many wedges that you don’t need.
this is exactly what i’m dealing with now!!! had a discussion on the course yesterday, it is a such a relevant topic. thanks.
This is exactly where I am at with my wedges. Does indoor gapping translate pretty well to outdoor gapping?
You should either pull the 4 iron from the bag or the 60° based on the course that you will be playing.
