On YouTube please be sure to like And subscribe to the channel hit that like button on the episode in the comment section tell me will you be playing Rory mroy obviously we have the dynamic pricing where we’re going down into the 5000s so it definitely makes him pretty affordable but even though he’s
Affordable I don’t know I could see a lot of people fading him so I’m kind of curious this week you gonna play Rory or you gonna fade him so put that down in the comments below but this week we’re going to be diving into the cognizant classic formerly known as the Honda
Classic CL kind of stupid that they let Honda go I read a little bit basically they were asking for $15 million for a tournament that nobody ever shows up to and Honda basically told them to go f themselves and good for Honda because they basically should have you know it’s
Just the PGA overplay in their hand and thought that they had somebody on tap if Honda went under and Honda pulled out I think they tried getting T-Mobile but because AT&T is one of their big sponsors AT&T was like what are you guys doing you can’t have T-Mobile as a
Sponsor would you have us so here we are at the cognizant but first we can dive into the Mexico open it was a disaster it just was not fun at all but Jake nap obviously went unconscious you know the the guy was a ball striking wizard absolutely incredible I I mean 8.7
Strokes on approach 11.4 Strokes T to Green he was an absolute monster when when it comes to ball striking and had The Yips starting on Sunday and really looked like he could have fell apart but gained it back right away and I I think the kid’s going to be good for for a
Long time and you know with with ball striking like that I if the putter follows in any tournament we’ve seen it with colum morawa we’ve seen it with Victor havin that they can definitely win any tournament with with that ball striking if they just putt even just
Relatively even to the field but good for him as far as the rest of the tournament goes it was a disaster I I was saying before just I I put a ton of research into it I was like ah people are going to be lazy they’re going to
Think it’s a gross tournament let me let me put in some extra research that did not help out at all because it was a disaster so we continue losing money so far this year obviously still very early but definitely need to get an outright
Going here and I I think this is a good week to do it have had some really good success at the Honda over the years and I don’t see any reason why we can’t at the cognizant but joining me to break down this field we have James Fitzpatrick Fitz how we doing buddy
What’s good what’s good I’m doing good did did you watch any of the Mexico or just um I’d be be lying if I said I did um I didn’t I uh you know I want to congratulate you because you didn’t miss much I was the opposite of you I kind of
Looked at it and I was like yeah this is a a show I’m not doing any research I’m probably gonna you know just uh take a week off which I did so um yeah didn’t really play any lineups I missed like we talked about I missed our league lineup
And um didn’t didn’t really watch but um yeah you know we got a newcomer good for the kidnap um you know the game you know a lot of good young guys game of golf uh a lot of good you know openings too you know a lot of the older guys and you
Know guys get want to live so um you know it’s not as topheavy um in the PGA so we got a lot of young kids breaking in and you know good for a little breakthrough but yeah no mexic open for me yeah I I definitely think it’s great
For the PGA you know you want these stories you want these new guys to to fill the slots of of the guys that have left but I mean it’s crazy so far this year just the the newcomers that have won and the long shots I mean nap was
The shortest pre-tournament odds at 40 to1 to win a tournament so far this year that’s mindblowing that that just it’s ridiculous but that’s great turnning around coming up here soon but there yeah there there is a ton of of of new Talent on the PGA and I’m I’m all for it
But if we dive into this week we can dive into the course first and we are playing at PGA National now obviously th this course has hosted the tournament for quite some time I believe since 2007 Honda has been the sponsor since 1982 but as we said the PGA overplayed their
Hand and Honda is now taking a hike but last year Chris Kirk defeated Eric Cole in a playoff Shot 14 under Kirk went in the water on 18 but Cole was not able to make his birdie attempt so forced the play off and Kirk ended up winning there
In 2022 Seb straa he came away with the win went four under on his last 10 holes shot an impressive 66 in the final round and beat Shane Lowry who had a good showing came second that year but this year I I could see it being pretty interesting because we’ve seen some very
Very weak Fields here and th this has some stronger names than we’re used to obviously I said it at the top Rory’s gonna be here Matthew Fitzpatrick we have Daniel Berger who was on a long layoff but looks like he’s looking pretty good so we we’ve got some good
Names here and and some previous winners so could be an interesting one but as far as the course itself goes PJ National is a 7,147 yard par 71 was previously played as a par 70 but they changed the 10th hole I believe it is yep number 10 was a 500 yard Par
Four 530 yard Jesus Fitz what are you doing buddy all so whole number 10 will be a a 533 yard par five so will will be one of the easier holes on the course but as I said 7,147 yard par 71 Bermuda greens it plays as one of the most difficult
Courses on tour and part of that reason is basically it can get very very windy here so the winds can wreak havoc last year we’re pretty tame so we didn’t see it too bad but on an already difficult course if those wins pick up it it could
Be an absolute disaster now this week it doesn’t look too bad Thursday looks like it’s probably somewhere around 9 to 10 miles an hour Friday could pick up a little bit we could be 16 maybe see some 25 M hour gusts now obviously that could change so definitely want to keep an eye
On that but holes five through seven actually make up one of the most difficult stretches on tour here very very difficult three-hole stretch and as if that wasn’t enough obviously PJ National is also home to the bear trap which every year plays as one of the most difficult three-hole stretches on
Tour the bear traps starts with 179 yard par three that generally plays into the wind overwater got sand traps all over this place especially on on the bear trap what you could see on on holes five to seven is guys can maybe put up a huge number they can maybe go double triple
Power whereas the bear trap kind of hurts you Hole by hole maybe you go three straight bogeys but it it’s it’s a very very difficult course and obviously those three three whole stretches are going to come into play quite a bit on on the front back nine approach shots
Matter at every single course but here considering how much water and traps and just trouble there are you really want guys that that can hit solid approach shots here a little over 25% of approach shots come from 175 to 200 yards 23% coming from 200 plus so you you
Definitely want those long irons another 20% comes from 150 to 175 so mid to Long irons are an absolute must here and hitting greens is not easy here Greens in regulation percentage on the PGA tour is average of 66% at PGA National only 60% so guys are going to be missing greens which
Obviously places a little bit of an emphasis on around the green game but not as much as you might think because if you’re missing greens you could just go right into the water or or be into a sand trap so around the green going to
Be needed but more so it’s going to be scrambling out of these sand traps or obviously if they go in the water they’re going to have to take a drop and maybe be hitting from 75 yards away so little bit of round the green but more so just scrambling in general and
Scrambling is actually more difficult here basically if you’re playing out of bunkers constantly the these bunkers are not just easy they they are deep greens side bunkers you’re going to have some sand saves and you’re going to have to scramble here now driving distance is well below average just guys tend to go
Less than driver or just go a little bit safer off the te the average drive only comes in at about 272 whereas obviously last week we saw somewhere around 300 yards so definitely don’t really need bombers but it’s odd because a lot of previous winners have had some power in
Their game so it definitely helps but it’s not something that you absolutely have to have here driving accuracy is also below tour average only 60% of about Fairways are hit so you do want guys that can hit Fairways and and definitely want to be strong on the approach shot if they’re not hitting
Greens you want guys that can scramble so that’s really what we’re looking at this week the field consists of 144 golfers and the top 605 and ties will make it to the weekend but Fitz what what are you looking for as far as the type of golfer you want this week yep
You kind of mentioned it um you know every week you you know you want ball Strikers but you know I’m looking um you know this is a tough tough course a lot of trouble around um like I said it could get windy and uh it’s usually low
Scoring Affair so I’m looking for for Grinders man um guys that can uh strike the ball well and that can uh get out of trouble you know that can scramble you know around the green um you know driving accuracy ball striking but um yeah just uh just good scramblers
Grinders you know like I said you’ve seen you know top of leaderboard you know Shane Lowry with second year of the year you know he’s a grinder um you know sun sunj and won this before he’s uh you know um you know I consider him also you know great Scrambler good grinder
McKenzie Hughes was second that year he’s a guy that’s always uh you know good getting out of trouble so yeah that’s the type of golfer I’m looking for yeah absolutely I mean bogey avoidance is definitely going to come into play here and you really want to be
Able to forget some of these bad shots because you’re going to have to take your medicine you’re going to have Bogies so you want guys that that can take the hits and and just keep moving forward so if we dive into the field as I said it’s it’s a bit stronger than
We’ve seen in the past so it’s going to be an interesting Dynamic and then also interesting is the dynamic pricing you know we we start with Rory mroy all the way up at 12,200 and we drop down to $5,000 so it’s it’s a pretty wide range as far as
As pricing goes you know they they started last week at at the Mexico and I I actually like it quite a bit because I do think that it spreads out the ownership on a lot of guys and it gives you different options of ways that you
Could build but if we start right there you know Fitz I I asked at the Top If if everybody’s going to be playing Rory what do you think you gonna play Rory I’m not yeah I’ll answer your question off the bat I’m gonna be faying
Rory I mean it’s just I don’t I don’t know what’s what’s been up with Rory but he’s just uh I don’t know what all the distractions with with live or whatever he just hasn’t been right for a while I mean I don’t know when the last last
Time he won on on PJ tour is you know um and it just yeah you know maybe you know do well but I just don’t see him winning so I mean he’s at 12 to with the dynamic pricing um you I probably wouldn’t play
Him if he was you know 11,000 so I’m uh I’m gonna fade Rory um I’m probably going to you know be more balanced but uh if I am going to play you know these guys up top I mean I like cam young if it’s Patrick better and you know
Henley’s got great history here and I mean there’s like you know what’s the 2000 you know over $1,000 price difference there so uh I’m I’m a fade on Rory yeah that that’s where I’m leaning right now now he hasn’t played here since 2018 really in total in his career
Hasn’t played great he did actually win here and has his second place back in I think it was 2012 and 2014 so a long time ago but you said it it just something seems off I he doesn’t really look right but he did win over in the
Middle East already this year and just when you look at this field strength he’s far in way the the best golfer in the field so as of right now I’m leaning fade but you know we saw it last week with with the Mexico Tony fenel was was
The top of that field and he only came in at like 26 28% in a lot of tournament tournaments so if Rory’s not going to be really that high owned I will definitely consider him but as of right now I’m not crazy about it cam young has played here
2022 16th Place it’s okay I just I don’t really play a lot of Cam young and I I just I don’t love him here and especially at this price so I’m probably gonna start with Matthew Fitzpatrick I’ve also made an outright on him got in
A little late I did see there was a 35 but I I ended up taking the 28 on him hasn’t really played that well here but I I do think that it’s it’s a place that could suit him I I mean really it depends on on on who shows up yeah he’s
Grind absolutely and and that’s what I mean is you know we we’ve seen him it’s funny he’s he’s a very up and down player that there’s times where he’s missing cuts and and just not looking good and then he can come out and win a major one week so it’s it’s
Going to be interesting but hasn’t really played well here in the past but I I I’m willing to look past that because a lot of winners that we’ve seen here recently have never played well here and then all of a sudden they come out and win it so I’m I’m fine going to
Fitzpatrick I I do think that you know Bermuda is is one of his best putting surfaces the around the green game I I do think that if the wins pick up he can he can play so I like him quite a bit you mentioned Henley
As of right now Henley’s a fade for me I do think he gets popular just because of how well he has played here and listen he it’s definitely warranted that he’s up here at 10,200 but I’m willing to go to Tom Kim right below him I I do think that they
Have somewhat similar games now Tom Kim has never played here but I I do think it’s a place that that could fit him and for $100 less I’m I’m fine going there but what are your thoughts on Kim um probably not going to play cim so
When I go up here I’ll probably play cam young I just think cam young he plays difficult courses um well and uh he’s been playing well recently so I’ll probably go cam young and then I’m not I’m with you I’m not gonna be playing Henley um you know I might sprinkle some
Com in there but I’ll let you know right below that you know um just playing really well good history here Eric Cole um I think you got to go back to him um you know JT poon you know he’s good good putter he’s a grinder uh s James W here
Before so I kind of like as we get down further I’m going to start liking guys more and more but um yeah right up there up top it’s cam young and Eric Cole uh for me yeah I agree you know obviously last year was a disappointment losing in the
Playoff for Cole but played very well second place is nothing to sneeze at at such a difficult course he gained 8.4 Strokes putting which was actually the second most of his career the most Strokes he’s ever gained was 8.8 at the Windom and that was actually also on
Bermuda greens so he definitely likes puttting on these Bermuda greens guy’s been playing well he’s been incredibly consistent I think seeing him at 99,900 maybe keeps his ownership in check just be he’s been so consistent that everybody is is fine playing with him but now that he’s priced up here I
Think it might help with the ownership a little bit you said it sun JM I I I love him as well 9700 obviously he won here back in 2020 I’ve also made an outright on him at 33 to one but I I’ll definitely be playing those guys and
Then probably going to drop down I’ll play a little Shane Lowry 9,300 but similar to what I said with Henley if everyone’s just looking at the course history and seeing what he’s done the last two years if he gets a little bit out of control with the ownership I
Might go elsewhere and then probably my favorite play on the board is Daniel Berger 9,200 obviously had the long layoff but he’s had three tournaments under his belt he’s looked pretty good you know a little shaky to start but only missed the cut at the farmers played well most recently at the waste
Management finished 28th gain just under four strokes on approach so striking the ball well he’s played well here at PGA National with three top five finishes and seven appearances two fourth place finishes in his last two times out so I I’m playing Burger I’ve also made an
Outright on him at 50 to one with six places but what what about the rest to the nin tier fits what what are you thinking um yeah I just want to rate what you said there with Burger we’re on the same page I mean uh to some guys
Just play better in in Florida um that’s that’s just a thing and and burger um is one of those guys and uh looking good off after the layoff and great history here so yeah I’m on burger and then a lot of the other guys uh Keith Mitchell
Um I know I like him uh same thing a guy that kind of seem to play difficult course as well um you know good history here uh Cory Corey Connors I know he doesn’t get uh you know he’s not like a good Scrambler you know um around the
Green guy but if uh he’s a great ball Striker so I might take a dart there and then uh Danny McCarthy man you know on difficult courses you know I like uh you know good Putters and um you know I can see myself going to um some Denny
McCarthy Keith Mitchell and uh def definely Burger yeah I I love the Metro call obviously he played pretty pretty good last week has played well here in the past Conor I don’t think I can get there just he’s terrible out of the sand he’s not great with the bogey avoidance
In a field of 144 golfers he’s 127th in scrambling over the last 24 rounds so that’s not great but I I love the Denny call you know you’re gonna have a ton of putts here to save par so if if you got a guy that you need to make a putt you
Want Denny there and if we keep dropping down into the eights here step joerger I think could get a little bit popular 8,800 but I I’m willing to skip over him I don’t think I’m going to play a ton of the eights here Matthew Pavone obviously had
A good run here but I I I don’t think I’m GNA get there sep straka I’m fine with 8,600 with the course history going to be interesting to see what people do with him but I I’m fine going there and I’m not going to go back to Jake knp I I
Just you know his his first win I could see it being a bit of a hangover and maybe literally and figuratively I I could see him going out and partying and and coming out and maybe having a hiccup but the guy’s been playing incredible Golf and and with how good of a ball
Striker he is this could be a great course for him so you know if if we get to Wednesday night and he’s pretty low owned I might consider him but but as of right now I’m I’m really not liking much in this 8K range what about you Fitz any
Anything stand out to you no um um like I said we’re on the same page again I’ll probably uh I liked a lot of the guys above that we mentioned and um I just kind of don’t really like anybody here um so yeah I’m fine kind of skipping
Down and there is some guys here in the high e that I’ll play um Taylor pendri being one of them um I like like spencon he’s a ball striker Todd um is a guy that you know hits Fairways and his greens and he can kind of scramble and
Then uh CZ CZ is a grinder and a Scrambler so I’ll start you know right there in the top of the sevens and skip over the eights there I’m with you yeah I I might play Justin Rose it’s just you know he he is a grinder but I mean he
Just hasn’t been uh yeah he he hasn’t been great but I mean you know he he played well at Pebble so so I I think courses where he’s comfortable I think he could play well and I I I could see him being comfortable here and playing
All right and I do think that with the names that you just mentioned he could be a little bit lower owned so not gonna play a ton of him but he as of right now we got a star next to him I do like hogi you know another guy that that great
Ball Striker similar to what I said about Tom Kim and Henley he’s first on approach over the last 24 rounds he he’s great from that 175 to 200 range so I’m I’m fine going with hogi I like what you said about pendrith he’s first in bogey avoidance and then brenon Todd good call
There hitting Fairways I don’t know if I’m going to get there on C Bez but another guy that’s mixed in there is uh Adam Fenson been playing sneaky good golf I I just you know last time out finished 10th at the Genesis seven strokes T green yeah he’s
Like a cheaper Cory Connor you know um yeah yeah so yeah Alex mention yeah I mean he’s played the Honda before hasn’t been too bad made the cut in all three appearances he actually did have a ninth place here in 2020 and and gained 11.8 Strokes T to Greens
So gota like the fact that he’s played here before has a top 10 and I I could see him being looked over for some of these other guys anything else you like here in the in the sevens uh um yeah we go down to the bottom sevens I’ll play uh Lucas Glover
Um you know he’s a guy great ball Striker just uh you know if he is he going to make enough you know putts to uh save par um but you know down here at 71 I’ll play him uh you know I mentioned guys some guys just play better in
Florida um you know Billy Ho is one of those guys um you know maybe have a little bit of little bit of horel Glover maybe Matt Wallace he’s another um grinder has been playing pretty well um and then I’ll you know dip into the sixes yeah I definitely think that you
Can make a case for Matt Wallace obviously he played pretty well last week at least to start the tournament kind of fell apart on the weekend but if the wins are going to pick up here he’s a guy that can absolutely play in the wind I like the Glover call he he really
Hasn’t looked great you know it’s it’s crazy the run that he went on at the end of last year and and just has kind of come back to earth since then but as you said at 7,100 I think it’s a good price for him you can make a case for him
Another guy I’m considering I I played him last week I actually bet him in a head-to-head matchup I’m gonna Slaughter his name Rio Hune yeah I said it better than I would there you go yeah I have no I have no idea if I said that right but you know
Obviously Japanese he he’s played on the DP World Tour played played fairly well too I mean he he’s got some good finishes recently he actually won the kazoo back in September Bermuda is his best putting surface I I do think that you can make a case for him there and
Then MAV mcdy been pretty good recently came sixth at the waste management 13th last week and actually came 11th at the Honda in 2020 so can make a case there but at at any point he could just absolutely fall apart but I I think at this price it doesn’t kill you
I like the Billy Ho call as you said guy plays well in Florida so probably sprinkle him in and then the big decision for me is I love baa I I play him every week but I like him a lot more on on birdie courses and this clearly is
Not one of them so I don’t know if I can get there on him but what what are you thinking here in the top of the sixes um Ben Griffin uh let me play some of him um maybe Chason Hadley um you know seems like a guy that uh could do well here
And then um down a little bit maybe Bobby Mack I know he hasn’t been uh been great lately but he’s a he’s a grinder he’s just someone you know that I think would would play well here so um down at you know 6,500 I don’t think he’s uh
Think you could do worse so um yeah probably Ben Griffin Hadley and McIntyre on sticking out to me here in the Sixers yeah I don’t hate Ben Griffin um Bobby Mack played very well last week so maybe he can carry it over here I’m not
Really sure Justin Su was a guy I was on last week and started off he was three under and then ended up I think from that point being nine over so that was not a great showing but I do think that he could maybe fa a little bit better
This week so I’m willing to Poss possibly take a chance on him here he came fifth place here last week great putter so as we said with Denny you know you got guys that you need them to make a putt to save par I’m fine with Justin s down here
Carson young actually has been playing all right 6,700 I I could possibly go there as well Samy valaki had had a great week last week you know obviously was fighting to come away with that win but I I don’t know if I can get there on him so yeah Pro probably those guys
Bobby Mack and Gary Woodland has played well here in the in the past has looked a little bit more like himself here recently so could could make a case to play him as well but we’re we’re getting pretty scarce down here is there anyone basically from this point I mean it
Don’t matter the price but anyone else that sticks out to you that that you might take a chance on uh yeah let’s see I mean I I don’t hate Woodland um I can I can stomach that um scrolling down like I said since I’m not playing Rory
And and a lot of the guys up top I probably don’t need to come down this slow with this pricing um Matt Matt coocher um you know he’s he’s a guy that you know I could see uh you know just uh paying off his price down here um a guy
That can can scramble and and grind as long as he’s uh not in too much trouble um CT pan maybe um he’s he’s played well here in the past and actually he was all right last week so I I think you can make a case there Sam Ryder that seems
Pretty cheap for him down here um yeah he’ll he’ll probably be pretty popular down here just you know he has his last two times playing here top 10 finishes rates out pretty well statistically so I remembered him playing playing well here yeah so um that’s surprised him to see him there at
5’9 so uh yeah Ryder and then um oh you got anybody else I’m scrolling nothing nothing sick um I’m willing to go back to Nate Lashley I just Lashley he’s more of a birdy Fest guy for me yeah yeah but uh if if I have
To go down here it’s just it’s a guy that I’d be willing to play I don’t know that that I’m necessarily going to get there on him uh maybe Tyler Duncan I mean a guy that can hit Fairways and wasn’t really great last week but just a guy I’d possibly
Consider nah probably not now the more I think about it I’m talking about it out loud he he just he was terrible last week so Pro probably not going to get there on Old T dunks but yeah I mean if I’m gonna dip down Davis Riley
54 maybe Kevin Kevin rman bud colie has been out of golf for quite some time but did actually play recently and and his game could fit here so BR brt snedaker still plays you still yeah but not not well yeah no that’s Kevin kizner I mean again you
Know we’re just kind of saying names I don’t think it really need at this point it’s it’s few and far between yeah I won’t I won’t need to get down here so have you looked at anything as far as outrights go um I have not but I liked when you
Were talking you said you got burger at was the number you got burger at so I got him at 50 I’ve seen him at 35 and 40 on a lot of books now yeah 50 I I got in early on a couple guys because I just I
Really you know with it’s not the strongest field but there’s enough names at the top that I could see like people gravitating to them so I wanted to get in early cuz I knew some of these numbers would C Burger was the first one I made at 50 he
Immediately dropped to 40 and I think he’s at 35 in a lot of places now what’s what’s what’s CZ at I have not looked at his odds I am not sure we’re going Long Shot season I might throw something on CZ I I mean the
The way this it’s part of the reason why I’m losing money is because you know I I’ve taken some long shots but I live in the 20 to 40 20 to 60 range and last week was the first time one of those guys has even won so yeah and it was
Someone you never never never heard of yeah but but as as we get more into the swing of the Season here I I I think the cream will rise to the top a little bit more and just you know there there is a lot of variance at this course just with
The amount of water but sjm hasn’t been playing incredibly lately but I think he’s been playing well enough and and actually took a little bit of time off which is odd for sunjay but I think putting on Bermuda is a totally different game for him and if he can get
The off the te and a little bit of the approach game going and and get that putter going I definitely think he can make a run here so I got him at 33 to one and then Fitzpatrick you know we we said he hasn’t played well here but if
The wins pick up or or if it just plays difficult I I could definitely see him paying off here and got a pretty good price at him I waited on him I could have got him at 35 but I ended up on the 28 I’m I’m fine with it I’ve seen him
Down as low as 20 in some places yeah I might look at uh Keith Mitchell’s DOD and I don’t know if you mention him on the podcast but M mu Le he’s another guys you know great in win look Grinders I don’t think he’s far off from getting
A win at the PJ tour and you know I wouldn’t be surprised to see it here yeah it’s it’s possible just he he’s got to find some more Fairways he can’t just rely on on the power but I I do think he’s a talented golfer and I I could definitely see a
Win coming whether it’ll be this week not really sure I did like Keith Mitchell quite a bit too but saw his number at only 40 I would have liked a little bit more I mean I get it just with the the field strength and and his
History here but I I think the numbers pretty well below that now so gonna be looking to add probably one maybe two more guys maybe some longer shots but that’s my card for now but that’s going to do it for this week Fitz thanks for joining absolutely
I think this is my uh first time on video here so glad to be here well first of many because we got a long season ahead of us obviously we still have the majors The Players Championship is coming up so we’re going to have the whole cast together at some point here
Soon and it’s going to be a good season I think you know a little little shaky start but I feel the money coming yeah no I’m looking uh yeah as we get into these these uh good tournaments and into the golf season I’m excited um so
Yeah all right well that’s going to do it as always check out the helm sports.com have the course preview up over there and I will have my Hardcore Parkour up tomorrow night Tuesday night that is my core four key stats Fades pivots DraftKings ownership all that good stuff so check out the Helm
