Thank you for tuning in to another episode of WGC fits today we are going to do a overview of lab golf right what is lab golf AJ lab golf stands for lie angle balance and what does that mean it means that when they are building this putter they are building it around your

Setup essentially and there’s a lot of reasons and benefits to why that happens but essentially the end result is the face is always Square to Target which is what we we have taken away a huge window of ulation required in general putting which is trying to get

The face back to pointed at the Target yes pretty powerful how does it do that how does it do that it does that not only with the waiting that goes on which you could see there’s quite a bit of quite a bit of but also with the window

In which the shaft is actually connected to the putter so when you have the proper Li angle right you’re able to sit there and get everything locked in and essentially it almost has something to do with in terms of making sure sure that if you’re measuring everything to

Start and you’re square right that’s kind of where it starts because the weighting in the putter is there to keep everything from moving around where it’s not supposed to essentially so you start off with the L angle and the length measurements to make sure that we are

Able to aim properly you then add in the fact that it’s weighted in a specific way and balanced in a specific way to remove any and all torque and next thing you know we are at the target at all times yes and you’re less manipulation this way no manipulation that way now I

Noticed allw Center shafted yes that the L angle part that helps with the L angle the intended aim as well as being able to build around it from a stability perspective yes so good questions thank you so these are these have been around for a minute they’ve grown in popularity

Across the board especially last year on tour I believe Lucas Glover won twice yep chamele Jus won again correct and then I some guy won the Sony opening in Hawaii with a link has zat one with not yet but he’s honestly he’s been up there

Yeah he’s been up there a lot he had the lead of Rivier for a little bit for a good chunk he uses a broomstick version he does of which we have upstairs we do we’ve got all the models that are available at Windmill so come and check

Them out right we get you fit up for one um in terms of I think the two biggest things that these Putters help with right one groundbreaking right the fact that it doesn’t rotate away from Target ever is insane phenomen two we really got to talk about stability because it is just

Out of this world from a stability perspective um when you don’t have to move the face and when the face doesn’t move on offc Center hits all of a sudden becomes pretty difficult to not hit your intended target that’s correct right it simplifies putting almost because now

All you got to do understand Pace pick the right line if you can do those two things you can make a putt yeah right now I’ve been gaming one of these for a little bit through the winter through the winter I’ve played three rounds of

Golf with them yeah um or with it I should say quite a big fan pretty good putter in general this is actually statistically increased that by a good chunk um and I really didn’t think that would be the case originally kind of talking about one of these Putters and

Now you want another one there is a chance that I get another one because I’m curious about just some shaft stuff and some specs but again it’s for another day um one of the cool things actually about it is right so from a fitting perspective certain things are

Super important right um shape sight line all that kind of stuff right it affects your ability to aim one of the things that’s really cool about lab Putters are because they’re all built around essentially how you’re setting up right and you could kind of get them to

A window where as long as you like the look of it right not necessarily just something that you don’t like the look of um you could almost kind of rotate and switch between them a little bit right now that’s partially my curiosity which is why I kind of want to get

Another one to see if that’s actually the case I do think it’s probably going to be right the evidence would suggest um but I think for right now we should probably do is just kind of test them a little bit and give some feedback what do you think beforehand talk about this

Grip okay I was to say we could talk about the grip as well I was going to introduce that next but we’ll talk about that right now so another very key component from a technology standpoint that these guys do is the Press gript now there’s two windows of the prescript

There’s the 1.5 and there is the three now from there there’s different kind of finishes on them in the stuff but it’s all just angle based what it is is it’s how many degrees of forward press are built in right now forward pressing is very important in golf because in a true

Window of putting we want to deliver somewhere between a degree to a degree and a half a lofted impact if we do that and we hit up on the ball like we should that should produce a roll that rolls very quickly right now we’ve done videos

On this in the past where we talk about how important it is to get a ball to actually roll forward as quick as possible the forward press kind of helps get that to happen as soon as possible right now here’s the problem with forward press not everybody

Can do so repeatably right with a standard grip with a standard grip yes um because again that’s a level of manipulation and to a certain extent these guys are about taking away as much manipulation as possible corre given certain windows so what these do is they

Build in the forward press so when you set it up you’re actually delivering the proper lofted impact and all you have to do then is keep your hand Square so no movement right so instead of setting up and then having this right which is kind of where most Putters would have you sit

Here you just keep it like this and then you just rock your hands and go right yeah so that’s the Press grip now Now not available on all models right this is something that they keep in the standard models standard being traditional kind of style right the counterbalance model does not we’ll get

To that later the broomstick also is kind of not with the Press because again that’s a totally different window um but in the standard models it’s just about keeping everything as quiet as possible and letting you just rock your shoulders down towards Target um let’s hit some

Pots okay so you want to start off Ian yes which Potter you want to use I like the link you like the link okay link it up all right let’s do this do it proper cuz I’m curious doe due diligence you like diligence so this is the link this

Is lab’s version of a blade putter right very good Putter and then it’s just end over end very very good roll right can’t miss now you are not necessarily a blade guy whoever I understand from a look standpoint no correct but that’s also with a plumber neck

Or shafted so when you’re sitting there you’re swinging this right we’ve both used blades in the past let’s just first the thing that jumps out to me immediately how much more stable oh very does this feel compared to like a normal blade very stable you know what putter

You know what putter I use mhm so it’s very similar to a lap style torque balance comparable yes MH and I can’t go back to a normal Golf Club I don’t know if I can either at this point I can’t go back to a tow hanging or face balance Golf

Club they just don’t Fe I can feel my hands moving too much that’s a good point so we could talk real quick about I’ll do it in the background while you’re hitting the putt right normally when you hold a putter like this right what’s going to happen is you’re going

To have something that’s going to sit like this which is going to be face balanced or something that’s like that which is tow hang yeah this Putter and these Putters if you sit there and you hold them is like this so the toe is actually up because again they’re

Weighted in a very specific way to eliminate that rotation that’s actually wherever you set it well for the most part that one that one would be but this one’s going to fight to get it’s going to fight to get to up but for the most part these kind of just are balanced to

Wherever they sit mhm so from a fitting perspective right two things that are super important and need to be said not fit forine yeah also we’re on a 12ft putt which PGA Tour is around what 27 to 35% somewhere in there 10 foot um about 30 yeah um so take it

For what it’s worth but um not fit for in right a little bit different um I can’t I hope they come out with a half moon style I’d be on that in a second that would actually be really awesome if they did seriously lab golf hit me up I’ll test it

Out we got a we got a test subject for you good put it just rolls end over end every time the one that you have that’s solid 303 stainless what’s your feel off the face we both use some pretty high-end you know standard Putters in the past it’s

Soft I think it’s incredibly comparable in all honesty right very much like I’ve been a I was a bat and ardy guy for a long time and I can’t sit there and say it just goes left that this feels worse you know yeah I think it’s very comparable and in all honesty because

It’s Center shafted I actually really like Center I’ve used them in the past I think it puts more MK behind the ball I think it actually feels a little better I would agree you know um try another one yeah all right so what part have we

Got now um this is the MZ Max this is the standard one now this is the head that they designed to be able to essentially take away any and all compromises that may or might exist right this is something that they brought out because they wanted to bring

Out if you will the end all Beall for not only all of the different configurations that you’re going to see like on tour for these guys but also just something that they can like I said take any and all compromises away from so this one is uh 6061 I believe don’t

Quote me exactly but I want to say it’s 6061 aluminum yeah with a 303 stainless kind of insert in there now it’s not an insert for the face it’s an insert that you actually have the shaft connected to that is how you connect the shaft to the

Or the shaft and the insert to the putter you actually screw it together um I personally quite like that because I don’t love the way aluminum Putters feel off the face personally correct I prefer the extra weight that you get with this in there it just makes it feel much more

Solid in all honesty in my opinion better than any other putter with aluminum in my experience is felt I mean I’m rolling them end over end it’s just I keep missing left m again and you’re definitely I don’t think a press guy so that’s also something that’s I might be pulling it

Just a little for this but and I you could actually kind of see that that’s a thing thank you it’s tough it’s tough when you can’t actuate your hands man that to me is very important like I got to feel like I push it to get

The Press right you almost have to feel like you’re swinging out to the right yeah but again end over end I’m not complaining try to get one out of the toe on this no thank you just try it okay like there sure here I’m going to I’m going to we’re going to miss

This it did the same thing that’s the exact same result yeah there’s no difference right now would that feel off face terrible I’m J I’m joking I know I knew I hit it off the toil mhm I’m talking about just in general though right I like blink it feels good right

That’s what I’m saying it’s still really solid no issues right you know in all honesty the shapes on these right they can be a little bit different but you know as someone who went in going from a very classic traditional blade to now this right I got to say the shape is

Actually grown on me quite a bit I actually do like it you know and when you make putts that’s something that happens so not too bad there um how about the weight did the weight feel weird or anything it felt the same I didn’t really notice it not bad right

Little too heavy in my hands but well you like a little bit of the light putter so different window all together which thing to note we can get these all set up to be lighter or heavier depending on what you need like a B5 swing weight you can make it very

Lighter I don’t know how exact how light light one gets off the top of my head I got it written down upstairs but uh in general they do they do that so for example this one is 385 grams right counterbalance a little just a little bit not not as crazy counterbalance as

You think um but I like a very heavy putter right so um not too bad I mean I I really really can’t complain about these this is the counterbalance one so this is the one I use in my putter um mesmax just little bit different from a setup perspective so counterbalance 36 1

12 in heavier head weight different shaft and again from a stability perspective that should have turned left I just didn’t aim no I should have turned I guess we should have aimed first let’s come back here and you have a different shaft in it yes so with it being as heavy as it

Is we had to put something a little bit different in it um cuz it was actually torquing too much with well it’s a lot of head weight right so yeah it’s a little bit more stable I play the ACA putter shaft in it there we go oh see that should have G

Dead straight I’m telling you I don’t think it breaks bro dude you saw my putts well that was you it was me I like how you went with no line never going line I hate lines of course it doesn’t mean anything cuz right now I can’t aim but yeah believe in you we’ll

Get that that’s a feel feels incredible I I can’t I can’t speak enough to how good it feels see you went left lift that out come on now I love the weight I love the feel now the counterbalance one I pulled that you did I saw it doesn’t have the Press

Grip no noral super stroke grip on here yeah now I don’t like a press grip right so for what it’s worth right yeah we were making this one just weci said couldn’t do a press grip yeah so I mean I I I I like standard too I like to

Control it I I have to forward press for me not to forward press that’s an issue much better button yeah there we go there we go much better speed all right so counterbalance counterbalance little heavier but it’s not supposed to feel heavier but again it’s adding the head

Weight for increase in stability and then it’s slightly longer so I would choke down a little more than that it’s meant to play at roughly 34 and a qu inches so here yeah I like to just go underneath like the the smooth part you can choke up you don’t have to choke up

As much yeah so again extra weight in the bottom more stability then you choke down on it a little bit to put some weight on top of your hands so it doesn’t feel all that heavy and again end over end mhm now just like I don’t know what your y

Angle is what’s your L angle for me yeah what’s standard roughly well for normal 70 to 71 I think that 71 okay 72 so this is 71 okay okay that’s what I was doing again end over end maybe a little pushy let say they all feel very similar

M now here’s what I like about it right when you simplify the putting stroke do we just pick like the hardest putt to read apparently I apparently we did well I wanted to change it up today MH when when you switch to something like this right when you simplify the whole

Putting stroke right yeah the thing that I’ve noticed that I truly love right is lag putting there go lag putting oh it’s it’s a in terms of long-term putts like longdistance putts I should say it I feel like it’s so easy right I know that’s a question that some people ask

And stuff right like with these Putters how is the feel off the face for distance control I don’t think that anything is as good as these because with every other putter right with the putter face twisting and rotating I feel like at times we get the like glancing

Blow I I have a I have a putter very similar to this and I will three putt every four rounds that’s a pretty good stat to have so I mean my putting for what it’s worth I can’t I can’t go back well for what it’s worth in the three rounds that I’ve played

There hasn’t been a three putt yeah so exactly maybe that’s it in in two of those Putt in two of those rounds right and again I am going to equate this a lot to this because these were winter rounds and the greens were not great yeah and the holes round

That I played the first round I played with this had 11 putts there you go and I I played a 18 hole round a couple weeks later and I got 28 putts that’s good that’s left that’s a great putt so end over end counterbalance standard link totally different yes all

Feel good all for somebody and they don’t all feel that different do they no this is why I’m curious about this is why I’m probably going to grab a df3 too because I’m curious I that one actually I would play that one like sneaky like

I’d play that one it like I feel like it looks really good there might be a green one with a specific sight line in a TPT shaft coming I went to the the PGA show this year and the buddy I played with we played after has a df1 mhm and I just

Said I can I don’t know if I could hit this he hands me to it I drain a 25-footer he’s like yeah you’d be making too many putts just doesn’t make golf fun you know yeah we got we got to keep golf a little bit little bit challeng

Out there right um so in terms of Putters staying Square towards our Target the whole time throw a stroke yeah thoughts you it’s it’s like a no-brainer it’s the only way you can make a putter now yeah I think it’s a no-brainer I don’t understand why it’s taken people so long

To make these I don’t either you know I really don’t yeah I know that there’s a couple other companies out there who try to do this kind of thing but like just from a pure technology standpoint I don’t think there’s anything better than this it’s better
