Morning everyone we would like to welcome our Mexico open at viant defending champ Tony fow Tony welcome back it’s a course and tournament where you’ve had much success what is it like to be back defending your title it’s awesome we love this place I said it last year after we left our

Families really fall in love with this place and um to be back defending this year is pretty special so we’re really happy to be back I’m really happy to be back on a golf course that I love and um just everything about this place the people the food um vians is pretty

Magical spot and last year um to be able to just win the golf tournament with my family here was extremely special so it’s nice to be back and um looking to defend this year as well spoke upon that this place you come years to come with your family what are

Some activities um your family’s up to even off the golf course this week yeah well swimming is always high on the list you know they like hitting the pools here at Vidant um but this year they opened the theme park which is exciting we love doing

Rides so um my oldest two are 11 and 12 and they already love roller coasters so uh I think we’ll be hitting that over the next couple days um something that wasn’t open over the last couple years so we’re looking forward to that um some great restaurants here um we’re big

Foodies the fenals so we love to eat and they have some great food here so those are a few of the things that we’re looking forward to throughout the week and kind of become a tradition with the par three course over at viant is that something you guys expect to do this

Week as well yeah no doubt I think that was a given you know we have uh I think we have reserved the tea time there like around 8:00 every night and and we’ll be there with my boys uh playing pretty much every evening so um that’s

Definitely at the top of our list as far as things that we enjoy here at Vidant and defending a title and have another one later this SE season at Houston what’s the mindset uh is it kind of more added pressure um when you’re defending a title yeah there’s definitely different

Feelings coming back to a golf course that you’ve had success um I I would say just more obligations than anything else once you get on the golf course you know it’s a course that you’ve had success and that you’ve won before so um you definitely have that sense of confidence

I think walking around a place that you’ve won before um you know hopefully that’s the case this week and um this golf course is high on my list as far as courses that look good to me and that I like so um I’ll be looking to definitely get after it again this week

And and and try and defend this title a top 20 last week at Riviera and it’s kind of been a rainy West Coast what are you looking forward to this week and how’s your game feeling entering the week yeah well you said I look forward to this weather it’s be 85 degrees and

No no rain on the forecast um but uh you know hopefully it stays that way uh but yeah look for forward to competing I I feel like the game’s in a in a good place had a couple nice finishes on the on the west coast had a chance to win at

Tory a golf course that I you know that I like and have success as well so um it’s nice to have the juices going already and being at a golf tournament that I really enjoy um hopefully I can have a good week this week with that we’ll open up if you guys

Now that you’re coming back as a defending champion and that most likely people will be on your side cheering for you are your expectations set um higher because now people’s going to be on your side and perhaps it could change what they are expecting from you yeah I mean I feel

Like there was a lot of love there last year really over the last couple years um I felt some of that energy I played with uh Abraham aner the first year and he was a HomeTown you know uh a Mexico favorite so there was a lot of energy

There so I think I have an idea what to expect but um I love I love having the crowd behind you and um competing as far as extra pressure I don’t really look at it that way I think it’s a very positive thing that’s great but again I think a

Lot of people were cheering for me last year you know in the final group to win the golf tournament with John and um I was able to pull it off so um the more the marrier I love the support and um I love whatever whatever being a defending

Champion comes with is uh is only a good thing and and a second question if if it’s okay with you um if you go ahead and and win vidanta or Mexico open at Via once again it would be the first tournament that you conquered twice so it could become perhaps like your second

Home doesn’t it yeah no doubt I wouldn’t mind this place being a second home it’s pretty pretty special spot thanks moving over here in the middle back hello Tony Diego papit from uh golf sh uh first of all I noticed you’re a golfer that has uh Sports clo

Style in this point of your career have you considered to make your own brand or merchandising yeah it’s a great question um I’ve been a very proud Nike athlete since I’ve signed with Nike they’ve done a great a great job with apparel Footwear hello apparel and Footwear you

Know obviously you see me rocking the aj1s which is a shoe that I love and that I’ve been wearing for a couple years um I have I have my own Foundation logo where we do some branding with Nike which is cool I wear some off course um

TF gear uh which Nike has allowed me to do so um I think that’s more than enough for me at this point in my career um Nike again has been a great brand for me and um a small ship that uh you know hopefully lasts many years okay and

Second question uh what MJS will you be rocking this weekend yeah I got some special ones as a defending champion this week so you guys have to stay tuned for that and we’re just going right next one tyy there are 16 Latin players on the field this this week what can you tell

Us about golf in Latin America and and in Mexico what have you seen in your Years playing as a professional yeah I think uh there’s a lot of great Latin American players a lot of great Mexican players and I love seeing the diversity um being shown on

The PJ tour and I think there’s there’s so much potential in Latin American players uh Mexican players players from South America I think uh it’s really cool to see and I and I love feeling like um I’ve been taken in as kind of one of your guys own you know again

There’s going to be a lot of support because I’m the defending Champion but over the last couple years that I’ve been here you know even before I won this golf tournament I felt like you know the I was like a home crowd favorite which is kind of a cool feel so

Um I love being part of the event because of that they give a lot of these guys the opportunity to play this tournament which they should as the Mexico opens so um I wish them all luck and um would love to see them succeed and play well back over here to the

Right hi I’m Nessie in the last five tournaments like last year you cut you made the cut three times in the top 25 and one time in the top 10 do you feel you are ready this year to win a game yeah I feel prepared um I’ve done some

Good work in the All Season my body just to be strong and you know this golf course has um yields some birdies and I can really really swing the driver uh with some Freedom out here as there’s a few holes that are pretty lenient as far

As hitting area so I love that being able to hit it hard and um and play this type of golf course so I do feel like I’m um primed to go on a run um starting this week I have a couple questions from the me Mexican media that is

Arriving you have a foundation with social responsibility purpose is there a plan to extend a program abroad here in Mexico or our BR yeah I just want to be clear my Foundation is that yeah yeah um there I mean there haven’t been any plans um to expand like

Internationally but I would love for that I would love for that to happen I think um some of the reach that I might have uh in Mexico could be an incredible thing and that’s what our foundation supports you know underprivileged Youth and um through the game of golf so if

That’s something that happens organically throughout the years uh then the Tony foundation will definitely uh support that yeah and one last L was question for from the national media you’re actually in the top 13 of pj2 players born in the US how do you get along with internal rivaly between the

Americans and if you have goals for the Olympic Games yeah I it’s been a big goal of mine to play in the Olympics there’s no question I’d love to represent the US and play in the Olympics this year um I know it’s coming to LA in a few years so

That’d be great um to be able to represent the United States and play in the Olympics and can you repeat the first part of your question please the internal competition among American players yeah so you know I think uh we have a great great stock of American

Players uh a lot of Great American players right now in the game and we’re all very competitive I think we all get along and respect each other but at the end of the today you know the PJ tour is a competition and we all want to win

Golf tournaments and so um we definitely respect each other but every time we Tee It Up everybody’s wanting to win perfect with that we will go ahead and wrap it up Tony thank you for your time and good luck this week thank you
