The DP World Tour returns to Africa for the first time this year as Muthaiga Golf Club plays host to the fifth edition of the Magical Kenya Open. Rikuya Hoshino will be in the field and begins the week second on the Race to Dubai Rankings. He’s had a couple of strong weeks with a 12T finish at the Bahrain Championship and claimed victory last week at the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters. Thriston Lawrence will also be in Kenya this week. The four-time DP World Tour winner has a good record in Africa winning the Joburg Open in 2021, before adding the Investec South African Open Championship a year later. He also started the season well registering no worse than a tie for 11th in his first three starts to the season. He also claimed 2T here in 2022. Ewen Ferguson will also fancy his chances this week. He’s claimed two top-10s over four tournaments to start the year including a 9T at last week’s Commercial Bank Qatar Masters.

This young Scottish lad Yan Ferguson he’s turned into a magnificent player this is at the ninth for a birdie he shot 69 yesterday sure is a cander but he’s too better than that today he will tap that one in there that will be for around of 67 and he’ll go into the third

Round at minus 6 daras Fel this was a par put at nine which he duly rolls in for 69 he’s round in 67 and tied for the lead 69 I be a pardon and tied for the lead and he’s tied for the lead with tapio

Penan that’s a nice roll isn’t it at the 17th hle for penan that got him to six underpar another chance at 18 which he takes advantage of so it’s a birdie birdie finish and pulan after a second round 68 alongside vreal in a share of the lead here at the magical Kenya

Open Conor Sim good round yesterday although he said this was the uh club that saved him on occasion so sim off and running this is the birdie for El Vera at the 18th and he’ll move alongside you and Ferguson really good work he was so impressive on the challenge tour last

Season Manuel so consistent ball above the feet so it’s going to come out a little bit lower he’s going to have that right to left he started off on a decent line down that right side as you are saying oh yes good result excellent stuff he

Was well down the grip there when he near on them on the shafts now go to Eddie peppol birdie attempt here just off the back Edge hit it hit it oh daylight robbery yeah Lawrence for birdie at the first a very simple straightforward pting stroke which worked beautifully

Tom Lewis coming towards the end of his round this is for birdie at eight so Lewis moves to within two of the lead W this would be some up and down broni needs a two three over go on go on go on yes excellent inviting little Chip Shot this

Is horrible plenty of green to work with running it up the slope oh he scared the Daylights out of it beautifully played Anoni for par oh good Heavens Richard boxall that was was that was about the same length you missed at the what was it the 11th I

Did it at the 11th it was the older green there was a lot more grain about but um that feels like someone’s punched you in the stomach when that happens let’s see what Tristan Lawrence can make of this one he is in position a off the T that’s a great t- shot

That and a very good chance of Birdie Eddie peppol out of the half at seven third shot ad Duke looking for his first birdie of the day ni thought for Muscatel there at the 10th good start to the back nine to six and Lawrence with a good chance

Yeah he is moving closer and closer isn’t he Tristan Lawrence Eddie peppol looking to uh join the party here at seven this for birdie nicely done so he’s back on the par as well and yeah he’s played that nicely as well beautiful touch very good indeed not the greatest lie

Either my word is it gusting here it must be at least 25 mph into the face to keep this right of the flag ideally there water left oh I think that looked in pretty good shape on that I think keep going keep going it’s all right it’s going to

Stay up Brave deserves a four after taking that one heart would have been in the mouth there though wouldn’t that would have been don’t you dare dare kick left uphill just quietly uphill I think is the way to put it for this second shot here at the eight

Perol miss it left he hasn’t very tight part of the green there so tight excellent shot oh flag out this is interesting and he doesn’t mess around he get some with it pretty quick oh he did fancy that that’s brilliantly played good chance for Eddie pepol it

Certainly is just coming up for birdie at the last hole as well for Eddie perol zoom in here you think that is think that’s a bit of right to left and you’d be right Edward and that is one against the head on the toughest hole on the

Course and only five behind with that scorable back nine to come it’s good work ah delightfully played by cockrel you can you can hear the strike can’t you fiddley now to Conor at 10 Ken his fourth shot misjudging his pitch Ching around the brilliant hle is today get a good t-shirt where you’re

Going with probably a 99er a weel beautifully played but if you missed a fairway it’s a very tricky one camura nine oh this time he does get it and he needs a few more of those he’s also looking to lay up here no he’s not good bre me well that

Was that was actually a little bit lucky a little bit unlucky surely he wasn’t getting on that line box he may have pulled it slightly didn’t he five over we think four outside the cut Mark and that is going to be a huge help flag out fancies this one oh it’s dead online

Too thear t-shot finding this bunker down the left hand side of the 12th pins over the left hand bunker think he hit the lip there did he of that bunker maybe not no I don’t think he did that’ll do did sound like it but what a shot

Varas very good excellent we better get the name right it looks like we’re going to see quite a bit of them over the weekend found some trouble had 14 can he find a way to get it up near the green somehow near the green are you

Kidding me what a shot I think he had to try and turn that right to left as well didn’t he yeah and I think get a low hook car oh that’s nice to playday what a good shot that was at the N that was brilliant oh well done Eddie pereral he

Was well left with his T-shirt awful t-shirt he wouldn’t mind any of us saying that it was a bad and then played a pretty good little chip there just run off and chips in for his par opportunity here for TR and Lawrence up the hill excellent right in the middle good

Hauling Pace as well for Tristan laeno back to four underpart but it is looking like that cockrel plays a beauty it’ be Delight with that hasino at 17 come on back up back up oh oh it listened well thank you very much that’s the easiest birdie he’s going to make all

Week and the only two if he rolls this one in it’s to plus one but I’m not sure it’s going to make it it make be quite a loud noise not quite try down the slope for P for his birdie this to go into Saturday or the third

Round at two under and to earn a bit of a lie in well yeah we we haven’t seen many long P go in today have we or yesterday one there if we did it good effort and an for his closing birdie lovely reception for 55 year old dismas Inda

Anon the Safari tour order a merit winner that’s what got him into this Championship his 24th magical Kenya open another great experience and he will be back for more what’s he at that can about 380 85 yeah 380 I would say right didn’t quite get it beautiful shot it’s going to be a

Nice way to finish not that one in he’s time for the lead Molinari couple under apart this for two at the 16th out the way cat out the way out the way oh oh yes that’s the first sort of long T we’ve seen three under for this n

Molinari tricky little one here Tony little slidy one go on well done what a way to finish your day that’s brilliant isn’t it an eagle at the last and a round of 68 and Conor Sim has tied the lead with penan and vanriel at the halfway stage of the magical Kenya open

Come on yes that is just brilliant what a Roar as well he’s got some fans out there good lad that was brilliant on it to watch another DP world tour video click here and to subscribe click here
