What made Lee trino such a good ball Striker trino had a unique swing to be sure but what created this pure ball striking in Lee’s golf swing we are going to find out first was Lee trino one of the best there were not much in the way of Statistics back in the day
But Lee racked up six majors and 29 PGA Tour wins which means he could definitely play on one hot streak in 1971 Lee won the US Open Canadian open and the open back to back to back then he came back and won the US Open in
1972 I always been amazed the Audio I mean the the I know he’s talking over every shot sometimes he talks over his shot but the Christmas oh it was just so flush I think he was the best ball Striker modern day ball Striker the game has so what was Lee doing that others
Were not doing well it had a lot to do where Lee came from and how he was brought up Lee Buck Travino was the grandson of a Mexican graved Digger in Texas on one side of the ramshackle trino home was the cemetery on the other was a six Fairway of the Dallas Athletic
Club after a few years of selling golf balls he discovered the catty Shack they had a little three hoold course after eighth grade he he I decided to just drop out and get a job and I make what he could and keep playing golf so he’d
Spent his teen years not in high school but on the golf course cading teaching himself the game that is where Lee began playing on Texas hardpan where you had to hit it crisp or your arms would shake this is what led to leino’s Unique swing let’s look at the swing here’s a
Great analysis by Craig Hansen of world class golf I will add a link to this video in the description so this is a this is not the greatest camera angle but the first thing that he did was when he when he took it away was that he took it away on the
Outside and he spoke about this when he was when he was hitting golf balls he stumbled across this move and when he took it on the on the outside he started hitting the ball better this is where I think the swing starts to get a little
Bit interesting you’ll see that now in a massive amount of lowering and compression with his head H into the ground and and push down into that left leg and his hips will actually go backwards and deepen somewhat you’ll see this point here in his swing as at this
Point here moving in this Direction with the blue line is you see his hips actually deepen and go backwards so great footwork great leg work and we’ll just pop a line there in in front of his front of his knees and you’ll see that he’s he rolls onto that right foot here
Just uh terrific uh footwork into that position here the most impressive thing is of course that he lands right back on the original Shaft plane and we we’ll see the the amount of lowering once again with the head that we see so often hip stayed back uh coming back on the
Original shaft plane and um as he once you once you get yourself back into this original Shaft plane here the the release is is is easier you tend to hit the ball obviously more in the middle of the club face but but the higher that this is up
Here the more that the left wrist has to bow down and it makes it let’s say not a neutral release from this position here you can release it more underneath and it just makes a little bit easier so many of the greatest ball Strikers of all time have landed there
So you can see when he comes out he’s actually got his head on his turned side on so if you if you’re going through the shot and you’ve got your right eye lower than your left eye um or bit extreme actually it really does prevent a golfer
From coming from the outside so you’ll see that the shoulders have have much steeper through the shot than than what they were on the on the way back from here and into into this position here now you’ll see a slight pausing of the hips as he comes through into this area
Here uh another thing that a lot of great players will do subconsciously great footwork and uh and through and so what can we copy from Le trino firstly most of us can’t get into these positions what I have found as a helpful drill is to take the club away like
Trino and create that loop back to the inside it really does lead to better ball striking here is Jim McAn showing a great tip of just this move and today we’re going to look at Lee trino and being the one one of the greatest ball Striker that’s ever played
The game I wanted to show you what he did so it’s going to be with both wrists and hands to look at first with his left hand he turns the Palm down and he combined it with right wrist hinging back on itself this way cocking the right wrist back so those
Two things combined look like that this dve drives the left arm out away from him on the back swing which you’ll see when you watch the swings and gets them into this position right away now when you’re coming down that happens to be a great position to be in so I’m going to
Demonstrate this for you now first I’m going to flatten the wrist like this then I the right wrist back and you can see that the face looks square here which tabino called Toe up it’s a very common way of teaching and then from here the club went up so let
Me do it again with a little both hand motion so you went like this the arms push away and then up to the top from here you dropped the club to the inside and just rotated and H on

95% of golfers are plagued by chunking the ball. Everything we do is a compensation to not chunk it on the course.
We dont know how to use the tool.
We can all learn in 1 day to hit a nail on the head with a hammer and by the end of the day we can naturally add tremendous power.
“Straight jacket golf” instructors wrap us up like a pretzel and think we’ll be able to swing freely and powerfully.
How do we use the tool and how do we get the club sweeping at the correct height at impact?
Teach us that and we can take care of the rest.
