Championship round 33 is in the books it’s been a while so here are some hot takes team of the round Leeds United Leeds picked up an eighth straight Championship Victory this weekend winning 2-n down at Plymouth since the streak began back on New Year’s Day lead’s record in a perfect 2024 so far
Reed’s played eight8 drawn none lost none goals scored 19 goals conceded did 1. 24 this latest victory was reasonably straightforward after Willie nono’s fifth goal in his last five games in all competitions rewarded an excellent first half performance Plymouth were far more competitive in the second half but
Georgino Rutter’s goal made things safe as the game went into the final 20 minutes this type of run understandably tends to have a huge impact on a team’s season just last year Burnley started a magn nificent 10 game winning streak in second place with just a two-point
Promotion cushion they ended it with a 17o promotion cushion and could Freewheel their way to the title this very season Leicester went early with a nine game winning streak leading up to the end of October that gave them a 14-point promotion cushion just 14 games into the season lead’s winning run has
Been similarly impactful at the start of it they were back in fourth place and on the chase they’re now in second place and the eight games has seen them gain eight points on both Leicester and Southampton and 12 on ipwi the lead super streak has redrawn the battles in
The promotion race if they keep it up significantly longer we might just be looking at the key moment in the unfolding of this season’s extraordinary fight to reach the Premier League player of the round Josh sergeant norch City context is everything in football take norwich’s Striker Josh Sant as a key
Example the US International arrived in summer of 2021 with Norwich back in the Premier League and this time able to spend a little bit of money on players to try and help them survive by the end of the season Norris were relegated rock bottom of the table and the Summer
Splash on Sergeant chis raicha cabak and Gilmore was seen as a massive failure in recruitment fast forward 18 month and the context has flipped unimaginably so the sergeant is now seen as the vital component in the Canary’s attempt to get themselves back into the Premier League Sergeant started the season with four
Goal contributions in his first four games before an injury in late August so him sit out almost an entire four months of the campaign he returned at the very end of 2023 and has picked up exactly where he left off banging in seven goals in his last eight Championship appearances
Aside from 10 goals in 13 appearances this season norch with Sergeant are an entirely different proposition to norch without Sergeant while the American was out injured norch picked up just 24 points in 20 games while he’s been fit and play saying nor have picked up 27
Points in just 13 games that is 1.2 points per game without Sergeant 2.07 points per game with him and the brutal points based maths says that Norwich are 72% better with Josh Sant in their team with the canaries in the thick of the playoff Chase they want to
Keep their key man in the thick of the action talking point of the round the Sunland sulk pretty much every Saturday my social media timeline will get filled with examples of the same hyperv viral championship football clip of the day this weekend’s installment was the substitution of Sunderland fullback Trey
Hume who exited his Sid’s game at Birmingham in the 87th minute that wasn’t the story though as Hume was seen to offer a handshake to his manager MCB who seemed to ignore his player and of course all hell then broke loose as with many fallouts in life the thing that
Appears to be the issue is not actually the issue and there are several other layers of suspicion that need to be peeled back to understand this reaction you see MC Bal has rightly or wrongly become a bit of a lightning rod for football fans dislike and this latest
Episode will be added to his charge sheet in the court of public opinion QPR fans will tell you Beal promised them the Earth and then did a runner to Rangers fans of the Glasgow Club will tell you he was a failure at I Brooks while suspicious sundland fans see Beal
As the guy that their trigger happy ownership replaced the highly likable Tony MRE with now adding the extra ironic wrinkle that sundland had surrendered a lead and were about to lose to a Birmingham side managed by none other than Tony Mo Bill tried to pour water on the
Issue postmatch by saying he didn’t see Hume and that he’d apologized he’s got a way to go though to improve his approval rating with the black cats fans Loney of the round EK ugbo Sheffield Wednesday although it flips and flops from week to week the longer term pattern in the
Chase for Championship survival is that the tide is rising at the bottom yes Rotherham do look dead and buried at the foot of the table but both Sheffield Wednesday and QPR are in the bottom three but very much not functioning like relegation candidates in recent times a
Point per game will normally see to safety across a championship season and QPR well above that lately with 22 points in their past 16 games Wednesday can go one better with 23 in 16 obviously those runs started before the transfer window but both sides have attempted to add goals in January and
Wednesday might have found a real solution with EK ago’s arrival on loan from tra in the French second tier agbo is doing double duty on Loan in the championship this season having spent the first half of the campaign at Cardiff scoring four goals in 20 League games the good news for Wednesday is
He’s already one away from that total for the owls after his double in the win against Birmingham and the opener in yesterday’s key victory at milw here’s the issue though augo also had a fast start at Cardiff with three of his four goals coming in his first five games including one against Sheffield
Wednesday at risk of being overly simplistic teams are at the bottom of any League because they don’t make enough good chances and they give up far too many the value of having someone who can put away what service he gets down at the bottom is priceless let’s see if
Ugbo can maintain his hot start second time around

First can I have a pin
Loving this leeds run. The Leicester game is huge, just six points behind them if we win. We couldn't, could we???
What I’ve seen of Norwich they are a team of cloggers
Yeah I have to agree on that Norwich are looking dangerous with Sergeant back. He’s an incredible player. He’s popping goals every time when we need to send.
Good don’t like Middlesbrough
Amazing how a manager can spot a perceived injustice from 100 yards and yet can't see a player he has subbed walk past him from two yards!
So glad hot takes are back on the channel Ben! Fantastic content
leeds out of the picture last month according to some by this weekend they could be sniffing down leicester for top spot … funny game is football if leicester lose they could start getting twitchy and thats a reality
Loving the video format
As a leeds fan , didnt play in top gear against plymouth got job done onto the next , had a tough month so far , ipswich not going away , ud have snatched there hand off if someone offered ipswich in playoffs as it stands
So….. We are due a loss soon, surely 😂
Can't stand Sergeant, precisely because I only ever see him playing against us. He is to players as Warnock is to managers.
Meanwhile QPR are only a point short of 1 per game over the whole season, with Wednesday just 3 points behind that. Current form is dragging the season average close to survival rate. Only snag is that that means that the survival rate for this season must be a little bit higher than usual, otherwise they wouldn't be in the bottom 3 now.
As for Beale, is he arguing that someone else made the decision to make the subsitution? Otherwise how could he not have seen the player walk off? Even Arsène Wenger wouldn't have tried that line in this case.
Sargent's influence on Norwich's improved performance has been incredible. This is me being a pedantic old git but Billy Gilmour was on loan from Chelsea but did not live up to expectations. I think he's now at Brighton. Have you got a cold, Ben?
Sargent is the best striker in the league and the stats back it up.
Back into the premier league to become relegation fodder. Just like the rest.
UTT 🐯
I'd say Beale has lost it, but not sure he had 'it' to begin with 🫤
Wow love the new content 🔥
Yes the return of Hot Takes! 🙌
A much needed result for us yesterday, puts us back in the fight. So many teams down there are catchable, hopefully we take advantage. The next 3 games are winnable.
This format might be your best yet!
Great work Ben. Love the sprinkling of stats throughout.
I can’t describe the difference Sarg makes for us. Makes you think had he not of got such a bad injury, where we’d be right now! Now with Rowe out for a couple of months, we still haven’t been able to see our strongest side out all fully fit. Hopefully we will before the season is out, all being well could make us pretty dangerous come the last few weeks of the season providing everyone stays fit for it! Although a large part of me doesn’t want us to come on strong and somehow get promotion to be absolute cannon fodder again next season 😂😂
Have to feel sympathy for the Sunderland fans.
it's all too reminiscent of our season when Rooney was parachuted in.
Wouldn't wish it on any fans. m
Except for the Villa. 😜😜
KRO!
what about a Coventry City hot take
Good job Ben, great content and decent editing!
Hi Ben how’s things mate? It’s shaping up for an exciting finish to the season It’s as you were with Leeds Southampton and Ipswich all winning that automatic promotion spot is up for grabs the Play-Offs as well it’s hard to know who’ll finish there and in the relegation battle Rotherham I think are gone Wednesday and QPR have giving themselves a chance Huddersfield suffered a heartbreaker and Millwall I’ve got to tell you Ben they’re in trouble they’ve been absolutely abysmal as of late they need to start improving as quickly as possible
Leeds United are playing GREAT football FairPlay to them from the Steel City of SHEFFIELD! SWFC💙👏👏👏👍👊
Im a bcfc fan and beale is a wanker for what he did and it wernt even my team
Benjamin who do you support cus i love your channel and you treat every team the same no bias opinions
Wow editing has had a massive upgrade love this Ben!
Let's see how we fare in the next 3 games ben, hopefully we can drag a few more teams into the relegation scrap. Us and qpr have had the pressure on us all season, so let's see if the other teams can handle the pressure 🤔 WAWAW 😊😊
Norwich were on another level this past weekend. Cardiff had no clue how to contain them.
