Next on our list a guy that we’ve spent a decent amount of time talking about over the last year plus is the forest Buckner of the Indianapolis gos and you look at the forest Buckner this is somebody that could come in right away and immediately improve the Seahawks in
Two specific areas one of those is run defense which has been an ongoing discussion for the SE Seahawks for how many years now the lack thereof of run defense and how much they need need to improve but also pass defense as well he’s very good in both categories
Specifically his impact on third downs and that was just a disaster for the Seahawks last year of how they dealt with third down defense with one of the lowest third down defense uh defensive rates in the entire league towards the bottom Forest Buckner uh last season had
81 tackles eight sacks 11 tackles for loss two Force fumbles and a fumble recovery he’s uh familiar with the Pacific Northwest as well played his college ball at Oregon uh many years ago so what would it take okay getting a little creative with this one here’s what I’m thinking okay trade off Buckner
And get a seventh round pick in exchange we’re going to give up cam young and we’ll give up a third and a fifth round pick I love this idea to me this is a a very simple home run deal where at the end of the day you’re cing me a third

Round pick but here’s the other thing before we wrap up I’ll say this much that the Chicago Bears are insistent on the idea of getting a first round pick okay that’s kind of the buzz that they’re looking for I don’t think anybody’s given them a first round pick

Would the Chargers really take just a 5th rounder for Khalil Mack? I think they probably know they can get more out of a Khalil Mack trade, but depending on what we’d actually have to give up I’d be open to the idea. Buckner sounds like he’d be a great fit here, but again Idk how much we’d have to give up for him, I feel like that trade was also undervaluing him significantly. As for Fields, I think we’d need to throw in a little more(maybe an extra 4th or 5th rounder) but as long as we don’t give up the farm I think he’s got a lot of potential, and he’d also immediately add another dimension to our team’s rushing offense.
I’d say no to Mack just because he is one of the oldest in the league. Props to him for being so dominant still but we need to develop young talent. Deforest Buckner isn’t a bad trade I just don’t like the idea of 2 picks for him, just a little hesitant. For Justin fields if it’s just a 3rd round we’d give up then yes. You can look at it either way with him. You see glimpses of really good play, but you also see really bad play on his part. I will give him the benefit of the doubt that Chicago is in really bad shape and has terrible coaching. I can see him not being totally motivated to play there attributing to some of his poor performances.

The problem is we're thinnish on draft capital and way thinner on cap space.
Buckner I like, but the Colts ain't giving him up. They're in good cap shape, so why would they. If Williams isn't resigned, maybe, but I don't think so.
Fields, nah. Could he be better than Geno? Who knows. The jury is out. But he's not really cheaper and, imo the Bears will likely get a lower 2nd/high 3rd for him (anyone giving up a 1st is insane). May get him for a (2025) 3rd if the Bears can't shift him pre-draft, but otherwise nope. May as well draft one.
Mack. Too expensive, unless he's cut and we can sign him in FA. Forget not that Nwuso is to return and with greatly improved defensive schemes/play calling Mafe can only continue to improve. Hall maybe also joins the party 🤞

No to all three on trades. Mack is good but it won’t be worth the trade and money for someone who might be around for two more years or maybe just one. Buckner is good but your trade proposal is too steep of a price to get him. It’s also a possibility he may not fit in a 3-4 defense due to playing in 4-3. There have been players who’s playing got worse when switching from a 4-3 to a 3-4. Hell no to Justin Fields. I’d rather stick with Drew Lock.
