But they’re also trying to gain Fitness and that’s the blend and challenge of of doing both and developing a mentality that’s what preseason is about as well but this is the penultimate preseason game for both sides so as of often happens uh you’ll see regulars quote unquote the regulars probably only for

About 45 minutes on both sides today and it’s going to be a bit reversed here as you can see here by the pictures you’re seeing the Galaxy is going with predominantly a young lineup to start the first half I’ll get you Jonathan bond in Gold they’ll go with three in

A lot of shots in the first 45 minutes considering uh New York City will want to stretch their legs well they’re going to put pressure on as you see there it’s calculated they’ll look to guide and then get the trigger or the visual queue and step good ball

Over the top here for the Galaxy but cleaned up nicely by New York City and cleared Over The Far Side for throwing La one more game on Saturday for the Galaxy and then they’ll return home they open up on the 25th against in Miami FC at Dignity Health Sports Park

Well at the beginning porit of the Season uh for uh for either he as a player or he is a coach tired legs jet lag and then you have a somewhat of a veteran side even they even though they are the kings of this generation in terms of names and guys who have

Performed to the echelon the higher Echelon of soccer in the world yeah they might be a little tired especially traveling across country once again to take on the Galaxy and open things up and the Galaxy is a team that’s coming together they’re trying to get their

Final players in into camp and ready to go that’s taken a little time a little more than I think that the Galaxy wanted but also some of the veterans players that are coming back from injuries like Ricky puog will not see action today Gaston brugman will see minutes most

Likely in the second half and those will be his first minutes of training camp for the Galaxy Martin cerus came on last game for 30 minutes and we won’t see uh Maya Yoshida today because he’s played the most minutes so far for the Galaxy so it’s a mix and match and it’s it’s

Really about getting these guys fit and ready to go for the opener and you don’t want a scoreboard to be lopsided but if it is it’s not the worst thing in the world on the New York City side and first for the Galaxy they’re playing three at the back which uh is uh

Something new for this preseason maybe it’s part personnel and going with a different group here to start the game but uh Andres perea uh he’ll sit the this one out but he New York City now on the attack as they push it on the left side the one time cross in front and

Cleared away first corner of the day it’s for crus is able to clear it out quickly out the near side it comes this is promising for New York at the top of the area nice slip pass is broken up and cleared out I can easily

Heard a voice because normally that’s an easy play by him and you go ahead and play that and clear it out of Harm’s Way as opposed to letting it go and it created the goal scoring opportunity and New York City takes the one zero lead inside 13 minutes

Now so park car now with two goals and an assist in this is third match here at the Coachella in Invitational another long ball of the back for the Galaxy quas will try to run this one down does well to keep possession he’ll need some help he’s by himself at the

Moment Miller approaches quas still on possession two Defenders around him does find Miller this time around the attempt to cross is blocked kept Alive by the Galaxy and the shot towards goal bounces on to the near side and collected by barza getting a lot of notes that the stream froze just

Jonathan Bond was completely surprised like why is this ball here tell the New York City audience what you told me last night uh we recorded a um on nycfc pregame live you you may have seen Joe tatino described some of the things with the Galaxy but you talked about Jonathan

Bond uh when you have a moment here he uh he underwent a a pretty difficult situation which impacted him psychologically yeah I I think what happened was last year had a collision with Raheem Edwards that uh kind of hurt his clavical I guess it would be not

Another another ball here in on goal here this flag goes up for offside but possession back to the Galaxy what happened was he got a uh a back injury that uh kept him out for quite some time and then I think he was a a bit of a

Different player when he returned and I it’s no different than for example let’s say a player comes back from a knee injury and they’re just unsure of themselves and they’re not quite the same player and until they can maybe even have an off season I think that’s

Kind of what happened with Jonathan Bond last year and and to finish what we said last night I still believe it’s Bond’s job to lose and we’ll find out as we get closer it’s a good ball ahead to bioo he’s offside over and back there and will’ll

Be possession back to New York City John McCarthy acquired by the the Galaxy and he’s well known on the East Coast he came out of the Philadelphia Academy and the Philadelphia Union and then had that big moment for LFC in the MLS Cup Final

Had to come in for crpo and took care of business for him the New York City with julan Fernandez he uh missed the uh last match with u again and The Opening match with the some soft tissue issues but nothing serious as we indicated so this is a time for him to

Try to gain a little bit more Fitness it was almost out a necessity is the way Nick Kushi put it that they needed to get julan Fernandez on the field to get some minutes here on the right side he could very well be the February 24th regular season opener starter on that

Right side good opportunity once again for New York City this time Bond Way outside his net to get a piece of that ball as nycfc looking to send it long and past the Galaxy defense got to be careful here when you creep up a bit too high you can’t get exposed in the

Back well one of the things the coaching staff likes about bakar the striker for New York City FC is that he rides that last line and he’s a good runner he’s looking to run the channels he’s looking to get himself in behind which was not evident against Portland and uh

Apparently he may have been just a little bit exhausted for that match uh they’ve had a very difficult preseason and match day minus one uh not so much here but in Florida for sure but a little bit here has been New York City’s been working hard the day before the

Matches they’re really trying to build their Fitness to uh to be able to press in the manner that uh Nick Kushi would like lepley does well to get this one back for the Galaxy Miller now trying to send it on through this is promising for LA but cleared out nice job defensively

There just nice and easy clear it away Tucker lepley who’s starting in the mid out of UCLA Greg vany’s Alma M too by the way but vany said that he’s been pretty impressive uh in the preseason kind of fits the way they want to play

And he’s got a left Peg so that’s also big a vany priority well and he also likes left footed players Greg vany absolutely and but also what it does is it they become they’re awkward for the opponent because everything they move in a different position right they move

Awkwardly for them and the Defenders set up going to you know the players’s right and all of a sudden they’re on their backside and it’s very difficult to deal with sometimes if you don’t know the player Baraza so noted for his feet one of the reasons he was uh pretty much a

No-brainer to start the season for New York City last year is because he’s used to the the system building out through the goalkeeper that New York City has utilized ever since Patrick Vieira arrived on the scene in 2016 City football group the teams uh under the offices of CFG this is the

Manner in which they want their teams to play Matt freeze came from Philadelphia Union sees a situation where they don’t build out for the back therefore his feet were not as clearcut but he’s worked hard at it and much improved good ball over the top here as they make the

Run on the right side the Galaxy do get numbers back nice job defensively winning this one but again can’t can’t clear the defensive third at the moment Nelson does come in to clear it out good amount of numbers forward here for nycfc keeping possession two teams that like The Possession

Game Galaxy have been a bit more direct here and I expect that from from this young group get it and get it out well the thing about the gala League last year we we talked about it in our conf ation last night Joe’s just coming off of 67 goals conceded that’s that’s

Inconceivable to me and Van’s he was a Defender so that must have been stressful for him just to try to sort that out yeah it was difficult as this ball will go out of play for a goalkeeper I think I think goal kick that is I think for the Galaxy what end

Up happening is they were do so well in possession in the game 63 65% would be there but they would then get stuck in a high line and if you if you see a team get stuck in a high line you don’t have to worry about your possession just win

It and go and transition and if your center backs are a little bit too slow you got trouble and that’s I think what happened with the Galaxy for much of last season the second half of the season because I think the first part of the season they were able to keep the

Game in front of them they were able to get the results that they wanted they were able to keep the playoff line to Within Reach here’s an opportunity and the second goal of the game for New York City and another mistake by the LA Galaxy defensively as that ball was

Cleared back into the box not enough on the pass easy turnover two nothing n ycfc well New York City’s pressure ended up with the Galaxy coughing it up penti so in the Midfield well you notice his first touch so you know Bond’s trying to play it through the Midfield

Maybe draw in the Defenders a little bit kind of invite them in and then and then work it work your way back and then to the opposite side and that first touch popped up on him and that was when it broke down on the initial touch so work

To be done for this galaxy team here to find their way into it they’ve had one chance really in the first 21 minutes of play expected that New York City would have the better part of The Possession mistakes it doesn’t matter what age you are you can’t have mistakes at this

Level at least those type of mistakes to both the goals in the middle of the park that close to goal it’s uh the tendency is that it’s disastrous but bakar finished it well so now he’s got the bravs he’s got three on the uh on the trip and that’s important

For New York City for him to find a back of the net but he’s had you know that’s a gift uh he had a gift in the U opening game against San Jose when a Defender slipped and then bakar went in on goal uncontested and slipped it past the

Keeper so you still have to finish those right absolutely abolutely you know and finish the job and that’s what he’s done so nice and easy baratza here in trouble you’ll able to clear it out the far side and knock Long play Simple sometimes you don’t have to always build

Out of the back find yourself in trouble simp simplify things and just clear it on out right there is where monf bakar has to improve his game as the target as the nine it went so heavily off his chest that was a good ball out of the

Back end of the target he needs to bring that down keep it wait for people to come in underneath him or around him so that he can use that support or maybe turn on the defender when he gets it down but we we talked about parente’s first touch well bakar coming back for

The goal like that with his back to goal that’s been an issue and it’s a it’s a huge part of uh what needs to develop in his game nice little give and go here for the Galaxy quas to the top of the area the shot towards goal Over the Bar

And out of play perenti looking to get the Galaxy on the scoreboard nice look from 18 yds out just a little high goal kick trying toh correct a previous error which led to a New York City goal see if he can find the back of the

Net good job on the part of quas pulling that ball back to the top of the box when everybody was crashing the back goal or back towards the goal top of the box is so often open on the cutback and sometimes players miss that you first of

All you need the delayed run out of the Midfield to set it up but the player on the ball needs to recognize it they’ll work the right side this time New York City on top two Z there’ll be a full change for the Galaxy in the second half as the

Veterans will take to the field and more of the starting 11 will show themselves Sans is expected to play another 20 or 30 minutes in the the second half but we’re going to see Christian McFarlan for Kevin otou Rio hope Gund will be coming in for

Burk Risa Tavon gray is going to slip into the middle Here Comes New York City once again right down the middle of the bark this time and again lepley picks up the loose ball and this is one of the things that he’s done well throughout the preseason now that he’s pickpocketed but

He finds himself around the ball being able to contribute whether it’s defensively and he makes nice runs when he’s past the Midfield stripe to be an outlet in a positive way as opposed to a flat or back pass Galaxy tucked in pretty good defensively right now bi Boo’s the first

Line of defense at the top of the center circle there has it now Aaron bio most likely we’ll see his minutes with Galaxy 2 as the Galaxy will probably go in with Deon yalich as the starter with Miguel Barry his backup as the shot from distance is

Blocked and out of play over The Far Side touch throwing for New York Santi Rodriguez who wound up there Keat Parks scrambling little hurdle maybe Hannis wolf on the shot but the parks made that happen just by getting past no foul was called so continue the play and then good ball

Movement by New York City they’ll continue to press the Galaxy here as they’ll welcome them into their own half now they’ll press out a bit defensively and force New York City to go back a bit and this is all part of it for LA right now with young guys all trying to

Figure out and maybe try to do a little bit too much work within the team work within your position and make sure you don’t get exposed good ball over the top here into the Galaxy defense cleared away Nelson on the end of that one came over from St Louis in the off

Season that was well calculated by Tavon gray coming up from his fullback spot we talked about gray what’s necessary for him is to increase his attacking awareness and some of the techniques that go along with attacking but there was no pressure on the ball said Rodriguez and gray took off him behind

And Rodriguez the delivery fell a little short but well read by gray good defensive posture here by the Galaxy forcing it to go back all the way back to the goalkeeper baratza here and they’ll win the giveaway parente he’s got le le no idea on that one though will go

Back and restart for crannis zavaleta well the thing about the left footer lepley too in the Midfield one of the things Greg vany pointed out is that the right-footed players tend to be able to open up and play to the right in terms of changing the point uh

Circulating the ball and it’s nice sometimes to have a guy with a left Peg like that in order to switch it to the left side of the pitch Greg was as a as a center back he was he was the player that switched the point of the attack

For the Galaxy a Midfield back in the day with that big left foot little bit different though for him for lepley today he’s been playing higher in the other matches today obviously he’s finding himself checking back a bit more and more responsibility in that regard they clear long trying to

Find Miller the flag is up and offside but there’s an example of New York City’s pressure and solving that pressure with a ball long over the top and Burke Reese if that was on side he would be left isolated 1V one and New York City’s going to see that at times

This year considering the way they’re going to play they’re going to give up goals because of that probably and um I think supporters need to be patient as they continue to uh make this adjustment which is pretty significant to uh apply pressure and leave yourself exposed a bit of the back

So that you are again initiating hopefully more goal scoring chances and more goals Gabriel Arnold comes on now for the Galaxy another youngster will get some minutes nice job defensively there by Miller to get it back lepley could have done better with that pass and New York

City stays on the front foot here in the Galaxy defense looking for another one already up two nothing good ball work towards the side of the area it’ll be kept alive at the side of the six as it comes loose at the top of that sixy

Box ball might have gone over the line it’ll be a goal kick for the Galaxy Santi Rodriguez has such good feet but couldn’t keep that from crossing the line here’s for Grannis quas switching out the left side not bad here for LA nice Cut in towards Center needs a little help

Lepley Mauricio quas finding himself in a number of different positions for the Galaxy right back right wing back now in the Midfield position as well here’s the cross down by Miller and it’ll come to baratza half hour into this one New York City taking advantage of two mistakes

Back four and create some unbalancing situations for that backline for uh for the Galaxy couple of overloads right Bond and this is a tough situation you brought up Jonathan Bond it’s a tough situation you come in here would you have a bunch of young guys that are in

Front of you and you know I I don’t think he’s in that position to where hey you know these goals are going to hurt him in any particular way I think we know who Jonathan bond is he’s a goalkeeper that can play in this league and he can play very well in this

League he’s getting his work in today the other guys will get their work in a halftime and they continue to rotate through yeah we’ll see who the second half keeper is I do we assume it’s McCarthy we we don’t know but don’t we see come on Joe you’re supposed to get this

Information here’s zaleta everybody’s playing that’s how Greg vany has done it everybody gets a look branis in some trouble does well that time zavaleta once again needs a little help and they’ll restart from the goalkeeper well the one thing if you got a away you want to play and obviously

You talked about The Possession both these sides like to keep the ball and control the game and in order to do that you have to take some risks sometimes individually you saw that back there with zapeta just kind of pivoting away from pressure and only some 18 to 20

Yards from his own goal good work by the Galaxy getting this back and being able to keep possession at Midfield now the long ball ahead towards that left side Nelson a little late on that ball it come on loose this will be a foul and possibly a yellow card on

Zaleta bakar the recipient of that and little doubt that talou tactical foul there or the old professional foul that’s a smart foul and I think uh Team should do it more often you know but is that but is that a blue card I’m waiting for the walls to come in in the

Glass yeah I just think he got to the spot late and but yeah and also decided Well I better uh make sure there’s no progress here sure especially with teams that play The Possession game that do inch forward here’s bio with a chance for the Galaxy and it went

Wide wow yes opportunity and again a bit of a I don’t know if we’ll be able to rewind it back no but just before that another ball into I think it was Fernandez this time for New York City FC where where back to goal under pressure

No no question but the ability to keep the ball in those tight spaces like that with the pressure this is good for New York City Now quickly getting ahead the Galaxy trying to get some numbers back Nelson does well to get in front of the initial

Pass New York City right now on the front foot once again gy held against their own 18 y box right now it’s a little better defending and they’ll restart once again from Midfield just defending the spaces right now normally would see a step out try to

Get that ball right now it’s more about positionally getting it right and New York City just needs to probe and wait for that moment where they could either put it over the top split the defense or get something out wide this is good into the area now for

New York City as it comes at the top of the box looking for the left foot at ball off the post and some trouble there cleared away in the Galaxy fortunate here in the 36th minute Hannis wolf got that favored left Peg out for this one and it hits the Left Post

He get the throw in and New York City as you mentioned Glenn was just patient enough right they found the opening and then once they wanted to take on their Defender were able to get on through and suddenly the opportunity showed itself at the top of the

Area well if you’re a team that wants to control the game and you’re possession oriented team that’s what it is you’re always looking forward what however you’re keeping the ball you’re always looking forward for that moment that you can uh take advantage of however the defense is set up at that

Particular moment can you split him Galaxy at this point conceding possession trying to get a better defensive posture as they’ll work at left side New York City will force it back to Midfield and now close things down and try to press in that middle third to get it

Back restart once again towards the right that about wolf I I spoke to him but two days ago I think and he uh all kinds of travel to get his Visa things like that and then he got very sick so he’s working his way back from an illness actually and

Uh here’s a guy that they expect him to contribute mightily this year I mean he’s Bond his Lia experience most recently Mula gladbach also leig and then salsburg in Austria which is his home country free kick here for the second half look for the starters or many of the starters for the

Galaxy to get about 30 35 minutes something Greg told me prior to the match here when I had a chance to talk to him he wants to see about 30 35 minutes from certain players some of them will be getting their first minutes again as we mentioned at the top of the broadcast

Ricky pu will not play today he’s expected to play on Saturday he’s coming off that high ankle sprain from last year and they’re being very he gets sore right a little bit and I I talked to Greg about that high ankle sprains are very very difficult to recover from depending on their severity

As well but it’s a different kind of injury yeah but he made it clear he goes he’s fine I we’re just going not going to play him here we’re not playing Maya today either uh Yoshida who’s normally wearing the captain armarm band right now for the Galaxy so they have a

Thought in mind on how they’re going to get ready for the first game of the season and the way things are coming together for this Galaxy Roster it’s probably going to be first second and maybe third game of the season before things really look like what this team will be in

2024 and you know these two teams play at your play June 19th there you go come on back I’m coming back what do you got for you little dinner sure golf why not you play golf not good not good well let’s play for money then the groundkeeper will chase me off the

Course will be knocked on back now you start seeing the the you know start laboring just a bit almost the 40 minute Mark as these teams try to stretch out to get ready Fitness wise for full 90 but we’re not going to see that here at the start of the season I don’t

Believe start laboring a bit looking for that second wind and as you mentioned most of the hard work is done behind closed doors in the training this is more of a let’s see what we did in training and put it to use and see what works here and what

Doesn’t I was very uh intrigued and interested to talk to D Kushi who visited Liverpool Tottenham hot Spurs and also Jona uh with the intent that he really liked the way and and really respected the way that those teams went added consistently their mentality and that’s

One area where New York City uh 14 draws last year that led MLS 14 ties and many of them were up one nil give up a late goal and it’s that mentality that uh he is searching for to you know and I I think most coaches like to learn they

Listen and then they figure out what might work for them them and that’s part of what uh Nick Cushing’s Venture overseas was this off season here’s Miller trying to send that on into B Bo it’ll be cleared away all bounced up hit a hand referee says play

On now the the whistle is blown so a free kick for New York City here players will’ll see in this second half for the Galaxy Deon yalich as I mentioned Gaston bugman Johnny Perez will get some minutes also we haven’t seen him yet another player who can work himself into

This galaxy team at least Off the Bench a gamechanging type player and it’s time for players of that age to start showing what they can do this is another good one on the right side here for New York City good possession very comfortable around sitting a little flat footed as well

Though what New York City can produce off of their good possession chance creation and then the ability to finish taking their chances and uh all those things rather instrumental in their I think inability to get to the playoffs the other thing’s very important teams make mistakes and if you

Don’t take advantage of those mistakes you might find yourself in a z00 game the Galaxy have made two bad mistakes and they made the Galaxy pay each each time and they put themselves in a nice cushion here approaching halftime and too often teams Miss on those opportunities for example biu just had

An opportunity on the other side on a through ball ahead he was almost one-on-one with a goalkeeper and he sends it wide and that would have given the Galaxy a spark I I was a I was wondering how he missed it I guess is what what I was thinking I

Thought for sure it was in or deflected right yeah here’s a good chance again for New York they get numbers into the Galaxy penalty area trying to find that through ball the shot is saved by Bond who does well on that ball going near side another cross towards the spot

Here still New York on possession in and around that penalty area Hest wolf and Keaton Parks combining well and it was wolf who took that right footed shot so he does have something with the right leg I mean he’s going to normally try to get it to the

Left and uh comfortable save for Bond as it was a hand height here’s ool and the Galaxy again remaining behind the ball this is an important part of what the Galaxy have been trying to do in training which was again keep the ball out of the the back of the net

Conceding but it was against the set piece situations that they struggled at times it’s a it’s a major emphasis in preseason he’ll bend it in towards goal here the attempted flick down in front they score and the Galaxy have tied things up at two and two how about

That Miller getting on the end of that rebound rebound the academy product that’s a career moment right there Glenn well misjudge on the uh aerial service I think that went over the head of Hannis wolf and then U I didn’t have a good look at the I think it may have

Been uh Rio hope Gund who was blind to the ball it fell and then it deflected and that allowed the Finish but there’s a set piece goal conceded the very first goal of preseason against Barcelona of Ecuador was off of a corner kick conceded in a one- nil loss it is

Preseason you have players on the pitch right now that are not going to see massive time uh in the regular year for New York City FC but it’s a setpiece concession and that’s uh that’s not a good look things that you’re working on in training that you want to see in a

Game situation and it doesn’t go how you well taught so to speak you go back to work that’s what that’s what this is all about 22 now in this match I don’t want to say all to play for but you know we’ll make it a little fun and this is the third match

Out of the three of Coachella where New York City had the advantage and the opponent it was uh San Jose and the opener Portland in game two and now the LA Galaxy have come back and again it is preseason you got different teams in either half uh we already talked about

This penultimate game of preas where both sides are they’re not utilizing their their regulars to the fullest extent nonetheless that’s the mentality and in the nycfc pregame live if you happen to watch it uh played a cut from Nick Cushing and one of the things and we

Talked about his visits overseas is the mentality to preserve a one-nil lead to get the second goal to make it two-nil finish games off close games off so hard to do these days mls in particular in this version of MLS exactly it’s been very difficult

To pull it off I would say over the last two three years and obviously I’ve had the example of my club who is trying to get back on the front foot and get back up the Western Conference but around the league it’s been the same thing as well

Where where teams struggle to understand how to close a game off well it’s closing the game but also remaining uh attack-minded to get the next goal I mean that you’re really and again that’s the intent of New York City this year is to to not lay back when it’s one- nil or

Two-nil but to continue to to push forward press forward and not try toh sit back and protect the lead in that manner because it doesn’t seem to work at ESS no here’s a GE Now for the galaxies they try to break out good ball ahead for lepley he can’t find a handle

Defended well that time around just a little slow decisionwise that time for La as it’ll come out near side now yanich the Galaxy tightened up the space a little bit more also here in the second half right New York City hasn’t had the free-for-all in and around the Galaxy 35 yards to goal

More tight more stepping out here Nelson does well on the play to go out of play for a throw in start seeing some more changes soon there’s illich this will be a foul and possibly a yellow card I imagine on the high kick ‘s Jason you’ll see him on the deck quite often

Needs to stay off the field for first of all to make sure they’re okay there should be an a lot of time three minutes five minutes whatever that is there should be a number the blue card thing makes things a bit confusing to me in a

In a game that has a running clock if you’re trying to save time just stop the clock go the old fashioned way yeah well I don’t know if that’s going to happen but MLS next pro has been the experimental uhhuh and trial with the rules League since its emergence now in

Its third year as the reserve League uh in Major League Soccer and they uh I want to make sure I get this right I’m G to give it my best but if a player if a trainer comes on the field the player uh has to be taken off the field within a

Certain amount of time and it’s just I think it’s like 30 seconds and uh it has to stay off for a two-minute period so they’re trying to erase the uh the over exaggerated and and that sort of thing so if you’re really hurt I just don’t like the fact that if you’re

Really hurt you’re still there may be some penalization there I I don’t know if I have it right I’m going to look it up while we’re while we could do that because I want to make sure I have that right but I more changes here for the

Galaxy the players that I saw leaving the match Barry who scored a goal lepley Nelson are done Diego fagundes you saw him just moments ago come on Deon yalich has enter the field of play for the LA Galaxy we’ll get you the rest of the the movement here as the match

Continues if a player is suspected to have an injury is on the ground for longer than 15 seconds the medical crew will come onto the field to evaluate the player and assist him off the field once the player’s off the field the player will be treated by the medical staff and

Injured and you know we’re seeing guys with with head injuries coming on coming back on in 45 seconds and say okay how that happened here’s bond for the Galaxy Diego fagundes has had a very nice preseason for LA and pretty much a bounceback after his debut with the

Galaxy and the trade when he came over midseason and uh kind of a shock to his system at the time there was a lot going on there he just had a baby just had bought a house a lot going on he’s a fan favorite in Austin all of a sudden he

Shows up with the Galaxy and uh he was also coming off a hamstring injury that I learned yesterday so he went through a lot and uh he’s fit he’s fit he’s ready to go and and he’s been a bright spot for the Galaxy in preseason he’s still a young man 29

Years old he’s 14 years in the league gu how about that well what he did with the New England Revolution 260 games with a revolution 53 goals I mean that’s he’s really been um solid but you know and injury free for the most part which is the only way you could survive

Like that so when we were talking yesterday say still have a I feel I still have a long way to go and that’s good because when you start thinking you’re done you’re done I heard that from some of the greats and sports along the way wave us on the right side again for

The Galaxy it’s a good buildup for New York City now as they work the right side going forward Al day out there for the Galaxy now defending replacing Nelson julan most likely will be the starter for the Galaxy this is promising for New York City Airi defending on this play top of

The box it’ll go Airi tries to get it back it’ll clear out and ahead it goes here’s fundes back the other way for La good recovery New York City and they had very good numbers forward it just got a little tight in there and maybe James s’s decision to try to put that

Reverse ball into what was a a crowd maybe you just keep that recirculated and New York City they do want more numbers forward this year that certainly will create create more opportunities but you have to have the spacing and the awareness and that whole offensive possession was started by Justin hack

With a little possession header in the Midfield started to Sands and then it went from there so how does New York City adjust game to game Home and Away in a smaller facility or a smaller field not a facility the facility is Grand for sure but a smaller field than they would

Say let’s say when they come out to dignity hell Sports Park and you have have what 76 by 120 they really don’t alter the way they want to play there have been times where Nick Cushing has uh gone to three at the back which sometimes could work at

Yankee Stadium or City Field and and sometimes it’s it’s not proper based on the opponent so he’s not unwilling to play three at the back but generally you’re going to see New York City in a very similar posture and what most teams do is they’ll press higher up the pitch

Because of the right length of the field um and in some cases because of the width of the field but more the length because it’s also only about 110 Long so it’s tight quarters there all the way through there’s you’re not stretching a field out at all as New

York City begins to make their substitutions now well you can though hanis wolf is going to finish up uh this his longest shift of the preseason now 67 minutes and this is going to be the guy that uh we’ve heard a lot about in preseason he’s going to make the the

First team went from Cedar Stars Academy to New York City FC 2 last year and the next thing you know he’s had a great preseason that’s Jacob arave so he’s G to um be in maybe an attacking Midfield role where Hest wolf was he’s the number 30 just played the ball there

Joe okay give you all the help I can they’ll rest I appreciate that they’ll restart a Midfield yanich to play this one on in Galaxy have three Defenders around the play and it’ll be cleared out well I think it’s great of both clubs the Galaxy at New York City FC to

So he was Center back on in the US youth natural team system so there correction of the correction yeah good job heck pre-season for all of us Glenn it’s okay and for somebody who didn’t hear any of that they’re like uh what are you bringing it up for May Cula all over the

Place inside 75 minutes 2-2 as the Galaxy have battled back they thought they took the lead but Johnny Perez was offside in that goal moments ago well I’ve always felt that gray looked more comfortable in this position right here on the ball Central defense he defends well in both

Positions he’s good in the air good ball here top of the area this is a good opportunity over the barn out McCarthy got a piece of that one corner kick good take by Jason off the hav Val to force the save by McCarthy and that’s Rio hope gun with a

Good ball out of the back direct for New York City worked out well that pullback though on the long ball was was what created that play many players will allow all allow that ball to slip on through and they’ll run themselves into a bad angle this pull

Off the field or the player coming on for you has to wait 60 seconds to uh to enter the field of play it’s a good opportunity for the Galaxy getting forward here it comes across the six and and deflected out of play off of yalich bit too much on that pass coming on

Obviously they had some issues with the microphone but that’s all that’s all technical stuff but ultimately that’s a very easy thing to do uh if you’re used to being around American Sports we’ve seen that in American football forever and it it makes a a lot of sense because

A lot of times fans are left wondering what do they call at the end of the day off of V what do they see yeah you know why not I like the IDE explaining it I like the idea of the television audience having the chance to see what’s

Going on in the room and the communication between the referee and the V and the AV which we’ve heard every now and then when there’s massive disputes I think U the Liverpool the famous Liverpool moment we we heard the audio of that um one other thing here

Return to play equity and this is this is fair opposing players who simultaneously incur head injuries requiring off field treatment so they both come off uh and they’re subsequently allowed to return to play they have to come in at the same time one can’t come in before the other you

Don’t like that way you cringed on that one or did you cringe because tyus Magno got slamed into the that one too but but are we saying that the the head injuries Happened One on purpose and one not I mean accidents do happen right and if one player can’t return and the other

One happens to be the opponent’s star why are you holding that person off well I if I I would think that the referee will ultimately have to take control that that’s interesting there should almost be a period of time where a substitution has to be made for the player that might

Be have a a more extended head injury yeah at some point you have to allow for play to continue otherwise both play both teams play with a man down and somebody’s getting an advantage somewhere if anybody listening knows that uh please let us know I’ll day I like here for the

Galaxy he’ll get the foul okay free kick I remember the early days of v it was it was made very clear here ultimately the center referee as this comes ahead for fagundes was he off black stays down for the moment that the center referee is ultimately in charge and I like that

Remaining the same way good ball across here baratza makes the save I’m I’m watching yalich though you his movement is so good I mean he’s got all the striker instincts but as that ball was played wide he took a couple of steps towards the front post and then

Started fading to the back and he’s trying to get off that back shoulder or maybe blinds side the defender and if that ball is served across maybe he’s by his Lonesome at the back post but it’s uh he’s coming off he had 15 goals in 22

And now he’s trying to regain that touch yeah yeah well but most of those goals came off the bench and it was kind of odd as a starting player he wasn’t having the same amount of prod productivity now he’s going to be able to be that starter for the Galaxy at the
