Course was an assistant coach at Florida and went on to UMass went on to uh U was that chat was he at Chattanooga before UMass yeah and now is on SiriusXM and killing it every time I listen to him doing and he bounc is around from different Station to Station he could be

On the Big 10 one day and the SEC the next and the college sports the next but we’re going to talk to him College of basketball and so there’s plenty of it to talk about so look forward to that uh before we start uh I do want to send out a lot of

Uh condolences you know prayers everything for all the people in Kansas City all the people all the people that were traumatized by it certainly the people injured wounded and certainly killed by uh you know insane mass shooting again it’s just uh I mean I’m not going to

Make this political by any means but it’s just sad that we you can’t go anywhere without being in having some fear you know um it is the way of the world I don’t know what the end I it’s like the gun situation no I can’t even

Say that I I was going to say the gun Situation’s almost like nil and that I don’t have any answers for it I mean because everybody’s got answers for nil everybody’s got answers for gun control um or or or how to solve the gun problem but not everybody’s going agree on

Anything so U anyway that’s as political as I’m going to get I I just think there are answers out there to solve the problem not not get rid of it you can’t get rid of it it’s impossible but anyway that’s all I have to say all right let’s

Talked about it we you can’t go and like don’t let one win become one win and you know we I worried about it going into the game I knew LSU was good enough to beat Florida but then Florida comes out and they’re blowing them out and I’m

Like man Todd got these guys ready to go that’s a that’s an at um Accolade for him to um to get these guys ready and not and put that win over Auburn behind them and then it happened again where they had a 20-point lead and they started playing tentatively and the

Other team went to Zone I don’t know why everybody doesn’t play zone all the time against Florida um and I don’t know why they got out of it at all but um and and of course the lead whittles down ends up being a tie game whoops mov to

Screen there a little bit end up being a tie game and we go to uh we almost went to overtime but luckily uh the player from LSU whose name is escaping me now uh Wright Jordan Wright um who’s a good player and and had kind of taken over the game in the

Last five minutes has a five foot shot there is nobody near him which is in itself unex inexcusable but he air balls it he alligator arms it gets the rebound some people said he was foul I don’t even know if he got it all doesn’t matter the bottom line is Florida wi and

You know my motto win by one right well look there’s a lot of Gator fans like I I told Jeff on the tailgate Wednesday I go we may get a lot of calls today or we may not get any because people don’t want to talk about a game you almost

Lost uh to a team that’s 90 three or whatever it is in that ranking um and they don’t want to talk about a game where you um that you won by two over a team like that so but we may not get any calls and

It turned out to be the latter uh people just didn’t want to they weren’t that interested in talking about the game to be honest with you um but I will just say this about this team right now okay if you three and a half weeks ago if I

Said to you hey what guess what I Florida is going to win six of their next seven games they’ll be seven right now they’re 11- six they’ll be 17- seven they’ll be um seven- four in the SEC a game out of second a game and a half out

Of first place that’s where they’re going to be at that point what would you have said no and I go whoa whoa whoa wait a minute during that run they’re going to have two 20-point leads disappear on them oh that’s okay as long they won those games right oh yeah okay

I’ll take that yeah we all would take it so you know sometimes they got to figure this out but maybe they don’t you know sometimes it’s hard to figure things out and sometimes your guys just aren’t good at what they what they need to do there at the end of games but uh

They got to get better and you know again um still it was a win it was a win which I keep wanting to stress very much they won the game all right let’s get to number two on our process service of Gainesville starting five and that is uh

This was the great thing about the net rankings which I I knew was going to happen I knew was going to happen because they’re it’s a really flawed ranking system the next day after Florida betl issue by two points at home I said Florida’s going to drop I somebody said

What are you talking about they W I go they’re still going to drop in the net because the net is it’s all mathematical and doesn’t take into account just winning winning should be the important thing and sure enough they did they dropped two spots LSU Rose five spots with a

Loss but that’s the way the net works and it it it has worked that way for even the RPI used to work like that to a point um but Florida is still at 32 they actually went up a point to last night this is how crazy the net is and I’m not

Even sure what happened to make them move I think somebody moved to but I’m don’t worry about it I’m just telling you how weird the net is and of course Florida playing Georgia on Saturday Georgia has a net of 96 in the country it is on the road but it’s still ain’t

Going to be a quad one win this year it I think it qual qu ifies the quad 2 though and you know pile those up too I think it’ll qualifies as quad two I’m not 100% sure I think it’s I think I’m right on that uh but again you’re you’re

Facing your former coach Mike white guy who kind of stuck it to you and need to get a win um these are the kind of games where you kind of look at and you go I have no idea if Florida’s gonna win or lose this game no idea because look i’

I’ve been watching this team they won they’re games over 500 for the first time since 2017 I like a lot a lot of things about this team but every game is capable of being a loss and to be honest with you every game’s capable of being a win

Except if you’re playing at Auburn okay which Florida did not have to do this year which brings me to number three on our process service of games will starting five and the SEC this weekend was kind of Wild and Woolly again with Vanderbilt knocking off Texas A&M on a crazy last second jump

Shot that my first reaction was he walked why aren’t they calling walking traveling but he didn’t he lost the ball barely um but anyway that that happened and then I settle in last night to get the two TVs going and watch these two games and I’m excited about them and uh

Auburn beat South Carolina by 40 and I’m not saying that as a exaggeration they beat him by 40 40 and that is uh that was not fun I didn’t watch much after the first half it was pretty bad and then of course uh Tennessee the game against Arkansas was close early and uh

And then Tennessee blew him out again at the end so um we have a a a great race in the SEC right now now in Florida is in the middle of it um right now you got Alabama’s 9-2 Auburn’s 9 and3 South Carolina’s 9 and3 Tennessee’s 8 and3 and Florida Kentucky

Are seven- four so all those teams are within shouting distance and of course the big thing you want to get is to get to that four um you know the four buys where you don’t have to play Tuesday or Wednesday you don’t show up till Thursday or maybe

It’s Tu Wednesday Thursday and then you show up on Friday uh yeah Friday and then you play if you win you keep playing you play Friday Saturday Sunday I don’t know if Florida can get to that point I mean the schedule left is is fairly difficult you got two games with

Alabama um you got to go to South Carolina you know going to Georgia is not easy I’m not gonna say it’s easy I know they’re 96 we just saw a team that was 93rd come in here and take Florida right to the wire um so it’s gonna be

Tough but we’ll see what they do I’m I’m proud of what Todd’s been able to do I really am I think he’s done a heck of a job but the tournament itself the NCAA tournament I’ve talked about but the SEC tournament is going to be crazy man I

Can’t wait for that um now I don’t want to be there I I’ve been to millions of them it feels like but because when you’re there it means you’re around all the Kentucky fans because they dominate they take it over um I don’t know you know South Carolina’s got really good

Fans but those tickets those Kentucky fans buy their tickets up the moment they go on sale they don’t wait until they they’re they won 19 games or something like that they they’re buying them and they’re going even if their team has lost three in a row now they

Won last or was it last night or the night before anyway they won yeah night before they did win that game uh they killed Old Miss Old Miss looked bad home court it’s it’s it’s a different world and you look it’s like you look at Auburn you know I don’t know like you

That would be a team you would want to I I heard that um I Heard um what’s his name I’m blank on his name now and uh Fishback Daman Fishback uh asked John sunville the question what one team would you take against the field if you had to take one in

Nashville and he said Kentucky and I I I get why he said Kentucky because Kentucky’s gonna score and kck’s gonna have the fans they’re gonna have the most fans but I’m wondering okay if South Carolina fans show up um I don’t know who I’d take as the field I might

Take Auburn except that they’re a home court phenomenon they they don’t lose there there’s something like 43 and two in the last three years it’s ridiculous and that’s great for them that’s great that they’ve been able to create that kind of environment and they’ve taken it I mean

They take it they took it all the way to the final four a couple years ago I mean it’s not like they’re bad on the road but you saw them here they weren’t great here that’s for sure we’ll see they are in Lexington we’ll get to that in a

Little bit coming up let’s get to number four in our process service of gamesville starting five and that is another coach leaves Florida uh this time Darnell Stapleton assistant offensive line coach going to the Washington commanders what does this mean uh it means they got to find another offensive line coach or maybe

They do something else maybe they say hey Rob sale you do it we’re going to hire guy to do something else we’re going to hire a full-time special teams coach we’re going to hire a guy or we’re going to hire an offensive coordinator I don’t think they will I think he likes his

Plan but we’ll see how it all works out um I people who are going to say that there’s some kind of a um something bad going on at Florida and that’s why all these people are leaving don’t know the whole story and and you know who does it

Else does it me I don’t know the whole story but my assumption is that a lot of these guys are are going to the NFL because it’s great jobs you get a huge pension there when you become an NFL coach it’s the the next level it’s the

King and if you get an opportunity take it you can always come back to college um so I don’t think as far as I know and talking to people inside the program I don’t get the impression uh but but look I can tell you this um people like Darnell staple

And people like some of these other coaches they hear all this negative uh stuff that’s around them and they also are you know dealing with the nil and trying to recruit with nil and recruiting with the portal and everything and the pros when you’re an offensive line coach you have no saying

Anything all you do is say here are the guys I want to start I’ve got what eight offensive linemen here are the five I’m going to start here are the couple I may rotate in every once in a while and here’s here are our plans that’s it

That’s all you got to worry about uh you don’t have to worry about doing anything else but uh but anyway so we’ll see what Florida does to replace Darnell Stapleton um like I said Monday the momentum seem to be going good for this Florida team and I was feeling a lot

Better about things and then losing your strength coach and your uh one of your offensive line coach is is certainly not good if you were planning on keeping him and his contract would run through 2025 so in his case um I think Washington will have to pay Florida buyout I don’t know

What the buyout is I guess I could have looked that up but I didn’t um because I don’t care anyway oh Florida’s gonna get money so that’s good I guess that’ll be a good thing I just remembered I didn’t turn my phone off uh okay um let’s get to number five on our

Process service of games will starting five and that is that baseball starts Friday and um can’t wait for that um I I know Kevin ulvin is very excited about this team in fact I’m surprised how excited he is to be honest with you um

He just was in the finals so but he said he’s more excited about this team uh it’s going to be a good team it’s going to be fun to watch we’ll see how they pitch see how healthy they stay in pitching wise um they’re playing St

John’s to open it up on Friday night and then if they we’re supposed to get bad rain Saturday um and if they do they won’t play a double header Sunday they’ll just play one game you don’t want to stretch your arms out on the first weekend of the season so they’ll

Only play two games that happens in fact the golf has already been moved to 36 holes on Friday and and playing on Sunday Saturday is gonna be a downpour Saturday’s a good day to stay inside good day to stay inside and watch basketball that’s what I say all right

Show I got all kinds of Gator stuff behind me though up there uh that must be something I mean when do you pull the Rings out uh because you’re not recruiting anymore usually that’s when you pull them out no I I do them on the on the big noon

Kickoff you know they have a lot of fun with that and uh you know what’s amazing is I was because I didn’t eat very well back then my hands are real skinny so I can’t really wear them anymore because I gained a couple pounds so it’ve gotten

Too fat your fingers are too fat what uh what has it been like for you though to to move over I mean you moved over to TV TV for a little while where you after you left Florida and got a taste of it uh but coming back to that

And be making doing that full-time obviously did it before Jacksonville and then did it again after Jacksonville um you seem to have eased into it really well yeah I it’s I’ve always been told to approach it like it’s your team and that’s what we’ve done and I’m biased

But I can’t imagine you know Fox is always the best as far as I was concerned to deal with because you know when they came to me it was at the Rose Bowl and they said this is our vision you know I I first of all kind of thought they were

Nuts when they said we’re going to take the noon window because noon window historically has not been the strongest games and we want to own this window and my gosh the the numbers have proven that to be what a what a vision by Fox and Brad zagger and Eric Shanks to do that

But uh the thing that I think you know me fairly well about this I I have no interest in beating people up or you know know Fox is all about and this is exactly the quote they said we’re going to celebrate this great game and those

Who play it and I thought I shook her hand and and that’s what we do you know even when there is controversy or narrative or something even though you know the whole Wolverine and Harbaugh stuff if you really watched we were and I was in particular because they wanted

Me to start swinging and I’m like you know until you know the truth we’re not going to do that other people can but we’re not and so I I just really appreciate our approach I love Mark Ingram Brady Quinn Matt liner Rob Stone we become family members and uh they

Treat us really good so I enjoy it well you probably enjoy not being a coach I know you miss coaching but I know you probably with the nil and the transfer portal you’re probably okay not being a coach right now yeah I I I’m glad the players are

And I’ve always been pushing for that about you know they there’s some there’s got to be something there that for the players and I think the nil when I first heard that I was like this is perfect you know a player can go earn you know what it’s called capitalism if if a

Great player you know look at the back in the day you take a TBO or you take a Dallas Baker you take Percy Harvin what was their value you know if a a big our car company or they want to sell their Jersey they want to do Instagram hits

For money and and they go out and it’s name and likeness I think that’s fantastic and that’s going on but the other stuff Pats not is called cheating and the amount of cheating right now is you know and it you you can when you hear the word Collective you know it’s

Cheating you can call it whatever you want to call it but when they say we’re going to have donors donate a lot of money and distribute to players to come sign a scholarship at University of Florida Ohio State whatever or Alabama Georgia and they said okay we’re going to and this is

From my understanding what’s going on is this player says well Alabama’s giving me this much what are you g to give me and by rule that it’s it’s I’m still kind of shocked that that’s going on because in black and white it says you can’t do that yeah and it’s I don’t

Everybody had want is asking me for answers and I have none I can give you answers but it doesn’t mean they they’ll p through the courts that they will I don’t understand why the answer isn’t make it be name and like us yeah that me

Let let the player go out and earn but don’t let the universities and collectives and donors be part of that donor if a donor wants to hire a player to sell them cars or to you know be on the billboard or even to come out to their business and speak for money

That’s fine but get rid of the collectives don’t you know I I don’t understand and I’ve said that that a few people I said that you know everyone says I don’t know what to do well I got a good one get rid of all that stuff

Yeah and let it be legit you know so but you know how it is when you start with something somebody’s going to take it to the nth degree you know it’s just like they were they put a rule in because Bear Bryant would recruit all these great football players and put them on

Track scholarships they put a rule in that you couldn’t do that anymore so you you have to take it and you have to stop it but the thing that’s alarm to me Urban is we’ve had at least three that I can know I can think

Of um coaches in the last few weeks or few days really leave for non-he head coaching jobs because they just don’t want to deal with it anymore you know whether it’s Halle at Boston College whether it’s Chip Kelly at UCLA um uh what’s his name Sean Elliott

At Georgia State just two days into Spring football bolts for another job I mean I I just don’t I think a lot of coaches are just saying I don’t want to take that path to to Glory I was actually with a very good friend very wealthy friend and it was in Ohio State

Of Florida so you know I don’t want people to think that so I’m in the car and he says look at he shows me a text message it’s from a college Co head coach and they’re asking him for money because they need to get this safety or

They need to get this linebacker or something like that and he goes I’m tired of doing this and I’m like what do you do he says why I’ll contact the family for him and we’ll come up with money through this you know group of donors will get together and come up

With a lot of money to give the plan I was going oh my God you know and I understand that’s happening where the head coach is out soliciting money from a donor for a player so to answer your question do I miss coaching and winning and team building and the staff staff

Meetings and I actually miss recruiting I loved recruiting I loved recruiting when it was about you know the academic opportunities and the life after football and the chance to BU the NFL and get a ring Etc but no when I when I hear that stuff first I couldn’t do it I

Couldn’t I couldn’t handle that no it’s and there’s a lot of coaches that are just saying that they just don’t to deal with it anymore um and I think it’s making the NFL way more attractive than even more attractive than it used to be

Um what uh let me ask you this I want to get to your 06 and eight teams in a minute but um I want to ask you about Ryan day um and certainly this they’re all in on this you know bringing Chip Kelly in spending 13 million on players

They’re all in on it how I mean how big a deal is this for Ryan Day this year well it’s uh you know the rivalries in Florida were Tennessee I mean when I first got there I it was kind of hitting me in the face so got Tennessee you have

Georgia you have Florida State oh by the way Miami’s arrival so is kind of LSU and they’re like you know kind of you know you I think we’re all created to know who an En enemy is and go get that enemy uh it was a little more difficult

At Florida and at Ohio State the enemy is it’s very clear who the enemy is and the enemy’s beat us the last three times yeah and as a result that that place like like I can’t imagine you know Gainesville we lost to uh Georgia that one year and it just maybe maybe I’m

Over dramatizing but it was awful you know I just the old especially the old Gators you can’t lose to Georgia you just can’t lose to Georgia and everywhere you go I would always feel like and maybe it was just me that I was letting people down when you lost that

Damn game Ohio State just because there’s only one rival I mean it is it’s it’s awful and so what happens is the donor base or alumni base the coaching staff the ad everybody man it just closes on you and so you have to go beat that team and so to

Say they’re all in they’re always been all in yeah but is there a little extra urgency I imagine there is absolutely uh let’s uh let’s talk a little bit about the two national championships in the 06 and 08 and I was telling somebody the other day I go you can’t even compare 06

And 08 because they’re they were such different teams 06 was built on defense 08 was built on TBO and Harvin and an offense that could really score a great defense but that 06 team could not have scored you know as many points as that 08 team did no the’ 06 team if you

Remember there was uh at times you know we were making changes offensively almost made a quarterback change and you know we were stumble bumbling along uh offensively playing not good defense great defense and those are I mean really good players on defense and you had Charlie Strong and Greg Madison

Running the defense and and then you know TBO came in and we started doing the you know the curveball and that was Tim would come in in situations play about 15 20 snaps a game and I had a d-coordinator early in the year tell me how hard it this pair of two offenses

You know because you got the the pure spread with Tim in there and then you got the spread with more passing emphasis with Chris leak in there that’s really hard to stop now it’s also hard to practice as an offensive coach so you’re you know we were very SU think

About how we would practice because and they stayed healthy thank God because if you know a guy gets hurt then you got a problem but uh very unique team a team that at a heart of a lion as that team and I give Brandon saler that Netflix I thought

They did a great job detailing how powerful Brandon Syler was because without Brandon Syler there’s zero chance we win that National Championship because he was the guy that said follow along we’re going to go we’re going to do it this way all he had to do because

It was different you know the we we the way we practiced Pat was really really hard the way we train guys in the off season with Nick was really almost beyond what any other schools probably did but Brandon saler was the guy that said you know we’re going to do this and

If you’re not going to follow along you’re going to meet with me I mean he actually went after some of the players to Rally him up and that team had a heart of a lion and the o08 team was just incredibly talented that was just

Putting a lot of guys uh in a lot of places I don’t know you Carlos dun done get suspended you probably win a third National Championship at least that’s at least that’s what I’ve always told people I think the 08 I’m biased and I wear my

Feelings on the sleeve a lot to people and to me it’s hard to say that’s not one of the best top two three teams ever to play the game let me go back to something you said about the 06 team you said you were talking about making a quarterback

Change were you thinking about making TBO the starter at any point yeah oh yeah yeah because we started struggling a little bit offensively and then we lost to uh Auburn and you know it just we were kind of I think the story was in Netflix but

We lost Auburn and there was almost a fight in there was a fight in the lock and Siler went after a bunch of the offensive players um and we we were not the toughest group you know we weren’t the defense was tough you had Ray think about those players Ray McDonald and

Some of those guys were just tough tough ombr and Reggie Nelson and you had two good Corners you had Ryan Smith so we had really good players and on offense we had good players but we weren’t the most rugged group and they got called out and I remember Charlie Strong coach

Strong grabbed me and said we better break this up and I even I did for a second I said all right great I want to hear this keep going let’s get it all out in the open so for about 20 minutes after that loss at Arbor uh it was some

Things said some I don’t think anybody really got into it but I mean it was close and that was like almost that was a cleansing we got on the plane from that point forward and there was no secrets anymore it was all hey offense you better get your ass together you we

Better get going we better toughen up and if we don’t and then we as coaches said do we need to make some changes and and we ended up coming close to making some changes but we didn’t you ever Reg coming back for the 2010 season coming back to oh after yeah um I

Just regret the whole end of my time at Florida you know I do you know is that part of it no I wish I came back with a more sting and and did a better job as a coach and did our staff did a better job

Because I think we won eight games but you know was amazing in 20 actually yeah what was that yeah that’s right yeah eight yeah we won eight but we were also in the hunt for the SEC Championship we don’t beat if we beat South Carolina we win that game and remember Andre deos

Ran that kickoff return back for touchdown and so as much as we lost all those good players after 08 let me see here 08 09 after 09 we went you know 26 and two and then we come back in 2010 and we were just I mean we had quarterback

Issues other issues but we were still right there so my biggest regret is not finding a way to beat South Carolina and get in that SEC champ game yeah that was uh interesting certainly uh let me uh we play this game we call yes nowhere maybe three quick questions in use after

Georgia State coach a head football coach just left to take a job back on South Carolina staff coaching tight ends which is what he was doing before and they’re two days into spring practice again I go back to they players have the worst role models in terms of committing

Network as well so we’ll see how the gymnastics team does they they’ve fallen down the rankings because they haven’t put up the great scores yet but I know it’s a struggle right now with with all the people they’re missing with so many youngsters but they’re they’re still

Winning so they’re doing good like I said earlier golf Friday 36 holes you want to go out there I can tell you it’s a lot of you’re seeing great players just great golfers out there um and then probably I think they’ve already canceled the Friday Golf

And they’re going to play a Sunday uh round as well uh and then women’s basketball is playing at all Miss tonight six o’clock on the Plus in fact we get out a little early from Radio tonight and then they go to Kentucky um on no the Kentucky games at home home

No I’m sorry the Old Miss game is at home I screwed that up Old Miss is at home tonight be there six o’clock on the plus if you want to watch it Sunday they go to Kentucky which will be a tough game for them and it’s on the SEC notk

In the Georgia Dome the old Georgia Dome and get over there and and I’m going to the bathroom and Verns had the same issue he’s trying to race in there and he sees me he goes man and Al Horford had just gotten hurt on a play per previously

And he said golly what are they going to do without Horford I go you know Vern that same thing happened to him against Ohio State earlier this year and he came back and he was it was just a matter of getting a kink out so I it may be
