The head coach uh he was very clear this we know what the forward combinations are going to be Perry’s goingon to play with Kanan dry cuttle and the McDavid L will stay together Fogo is going to play with McLoud and Holloway that’s a lock down but defense pairings noblock who
Has been very upfront ever since he arrived in emont he’ll tell you who the starting goal tender is the day before he doesn’t hide anything he said you know what I’m not sure if the defense parings we had in practice yesterday are going to be the defense parings tonight
He was he was very clear about that he didn’t uh he didn’t commit 100% so uh we shall see they had an optional skate today so there’s nothing there but uh we will find out I I could see them having two new I do think de har is going to

Started the second round on fire he is a three under through six you’ve got Maverick mcne at seven under sahi thala as well as uh Doug gim Kurt Kama at six under so the Canadian Nick Taylor having having a good day good start to the tournament Cory Connor is uh three under
And now he’s through two holes on on round two for him other Canadians in the field you gota you got to scroll a long ways down unfortunately to uh to find them Adam senson now he is he shot an even par but has him tied for six second
Which would have him at the uh making the cut if he can just oh I shouldn’t say just because it’s hard to par but if he could shoot par today in round two he should uh he should make it Adam hadwin ended up finishing plus four he’s goingon to
Need a heck of a day today to uh to get to the weekend but uh Nick Taylor looking good so far there’s lots of tournament left lots of tournament left but uh Nick Taylor if you’re a golf fan starting to uh talk a little golf I like
Like it that course is in unreal shape but it was just there the uh the 16th hole they’ve basically doubled the capacity in that hole in the last two years last year they went up to 20,000 people around one hole and then if you look at whole 17 and whole 18 like it’s
Whole 17 I think is is almost as close to as many fans like they’ve got so much seating there they they’re expecting 1.3 million fans over four days now that’s obviously not unique fans some people might come every day but basically they’re averaging 300K plus per day at that tournament it’s nuts
Nuts hey Gregor you betting your hairstyle on orders win well that would be a little uh redundant you know what it well first of all it’s not a bet Lou what are you giving me if if they win that’s a bet okay let’s don’t confuse a bet to a promise very different
Things and uh like I said the people saw the hair most didn’t want to see it including yours truly so no but uh I would be stunned if the orders lose tonight um Anaheim is a very good matchup for them and I think this this
The orders are 24 and four in their last 28 games they’re 26 and seven under noblock their goalies haven’t allowed more than two goals in 15 consecutive games why would anybody think they’re going to lose tonight they’re very good he Gregor who is the uh last team
To win the Stanley Cup without uh any moves at the deadline uh it’s a good question well any moves well obviously Vegas had barbashev Colorado made quite a few uh moves at the uh at the deadline Tampa Bay you know always tweaks around the edges made
One um St Louis did St Louis that might be the team off the top of my head trying to think if they made any additions at the deadline that year um I’d have to uh I’d have to check now what are you talking because if you make a trade in December does that
Count or are you talking you know a month leading up to the deadline uh the blues might be that team but I’d have to double check um Washington I know made some moves Pittsburgh did most teams will make one but you got to remember like team Michael Hanzo
Is still to me one of the greatest trade deadline Acquisitions of all time the Blackhawks gave up a fourth rounder to get him and he ended up being their second line Center and playing a pretty significant role for them in their Stanley Cup win one year like
That’s ideal when he was acquired there wasn’t many people that thought he was going to make that big of an impact so guys do you think it’s possible Ken Holland does nothing Dean well in theory it’s possible B Dean in reality no um bare minimum they’re adding a veteran
Defenseman lock that in guaranteed they’re going to add a seventh defenseman um I also think I could see a maximum of potentially three new players two out outside of that I think they’re going to look for a second line right winger uh I I think they have uh some
Interest in a in a fourth line Center we talked about it yesterday in the show Nick Dow but I wouldn’t stop at Nick d right if I’m getting Nick Dow I would also like to add his left Winger a former teammate of steuart skinners Beck Valentine they played
Together only for 38 games in the playoffs when he was acquired uh during their uh their run Manny Vios was the head coach when the they went to the Memorial Cup the Swift Current Broncos big six foot3 when those guys play together all the time they take on
Some tough minutes they start in their defensive Zone pretty much all all the time now obviously those are like un stoppages we’re not talking on the Fly of course so we would uh I I would I’ll say this I will be stunned beyond belief I’m gonna say probably it’s
Impossible that the orders make no moves because I think they have to at bare minimum add a veteran defenseman to this club but you know you get one injury and all of a sudden you could be scrambling potentially and now hey and there’s a few other things you know I’ve
Seen you know some Rumblings oh the orders are interested in moving Phil broberg what when I see a comment like that I’m like yeah if you could get like a legit for sure but I’ll I’ll be honest look at the defenseman that are available are any of them as good as
Matias Echo that’s what I’ll ask people so let’s take a step back I always like to say okay when I hear rumors I’m like okay well let’s look at the track record of Ken Holland when was the last time Ken Holland gave up somebody who’s considered really high proit ECT Reed
Schaefer wasn’t considered a super high Prospect when was the last time right he had never he had never traded a first rounder until he got dingon so people thinking he’s just gon to give away Philip broberg because some people are are because Philip broberg early in the year was maybe a little
Frustrated as he should have been I understand it as a young player he wanted to play he wanted to play in the NHL so what I think they have Phil broberg because the honton owners don’t believe because there’s no guarantee when the playoffs start that they’re winning this year
Right we can all agree to that there’s no there’s no guarantee they’re gonna win they could win heck they could lose in a first round against Vegas in a seven game slobber knocker of a series and not even play poorly because you got some good names good teams excuse
Me so I think he even though he might not be here next year he might retire I don’t believe that Ken Holland is going to suddenly just go crazy and be like yeah it’s my last year let’s just put all the chips in he’s never really worked that way like last year he
Gave up Barry and he gave up schaer in a first for a guy who had potentially four playoff runs in him and Matias e he had last year and then he had three more full seasons left on his contract right that’s not just a rental so look at the defenseman available Matt Dumbo
Chris tanip now Noah hannahan he’s the best defenseman available I don’t think there’s any question about that if he doesn’t sign a contract between now and the eth of March which it you know it seems like it’s going that way there’s there can always be changes now but hannahan also doesn’t
Have any contract past the end of this season so he could in theory be a pure rental even if you want to tell yourself yeah we’re going to trade for him and then we could sign him there’s no guarantee Chris tanov pen in Ufa Walker has being a top four
Defenseman for all total of 50 games carrier same thing and I think both of those guys are probably considered really good number fives from scouts I’ve talked to me watching myself and with and and then you got to look at the history of Ken Holland he is a big believer in size in
The back end look at who they’ve drafted look who’s come up in the system in emont broberg nean de har C are any of them under 63 honestly now I know they just got Bo wakey and doesn’t mean you can never draft one if you think he’s that good
That’s fine but I’m saying if I look at the norm do I think that Ken Holland is going to add a 5 foot1 non Elite like not kale ma not Quinn Hughes not Adam Fox type defenseman first his top four I’d be surprised and I’m I’m basing that off of
30 years of history when you look at it so I think they’ll make a move but I I I think some of the suggestions there that oh they’re just going to throw in broberg like look at even the Fords we all know they’d like to get a second line right
Winger so even if the Devils fall out of it to Foley UFA at the end of the year gensel UFA at the end of the year Jordan Everly UFA at the end of the year tereno UFA at the end you think they’re gonna give up Philip broberg for a guy who
Might only be a three-month rental based on what there’s zero track record from Ken Holland to suggest that that’s what he would do zero so people can you know you can read this stuff and oh I heard this guy say this on that show but then you always
Got to ask yourself how realistic is it because we know what happens here in the next month everybody knows the orders are looking at Players we can all agree with that and so lots of names you you’ll have lots of names connected to emont
How many of them are going to end up in emont let’s be real probably two or three at the most but I don’t uh I I think you can can cool your jets a little bit if if you think that like Phil broberg is a lock to get moved I’d actually say at
This point I think it’s way more likely he doesn’t get moved because unless there becomes a player available who has multi- years left that then you can least say hey you know what we’re giving up bro because I still think the organization views him quite highly as they should there’s lots
To like about Philip Brer I know some people get impatient and well he was drafted four years ago he should be a star right away I don’t see it hey Gregs what what do you think it takes to get dowed Trevor I think it’s a first round
Of Trevor and I know some people like what he’s a fourth line Center yes but he makes 1.3 million he has another year left on his deal there’s a precedent because of Barkley goodro a few years ago he also doubt has been very good for anybody you crunch the numbers on doubt
Go back and look at it this guy is outstanding in his role he can he can more than tread water against top competition he takes a ton of defensive Zone starts which mean and Al when you’re starting in your dzone it’s harder to pres prevent or sorry produce
Offense unless you’re an elite guy like McDavid which obviously he’s not so I’m G to say this I think Nick Dow any team that acquires him is likely given a first now remember a first for emont could end up being pick 24 to to 32 right it’s not like it’s a first when
We think of like a top 10 pick so hey boys what’s gonna happen with Campbell I think he’ll ever find his game and get his confidence back or is he destined to be the highest paid minor Leaguer from Jordy well I read Spec’s article today you know and Jack
Campbell’s in a very good spot he says you know he’s very happy with how it is he’s just kind of relaxed he’s he’s playing really well uh it was also I think a fair comment from Ken Holland said the mistake Ken Holland made was when they sent him down they made him
Play right away they probably just should have given him some time to Exhale looking back right but hey that’s hindsight didn’t hurt him but in a perfect world Ken Holland said he probably just would have let him go down and do what they did in Toronto with
Samson off he just went down there didn’t play right away and then you let him play so Campbell feels he’s in a really good spot he’d love another opportunity in the NHL barring injury and the fact you know Calvin Pickard wins again tonight that’s five in a row
For him like what more could you ask for your for your backup but I think could I think Jack Campbell if there wasn’t the risk of losing Pickard on waivers which I think there is right now lots of teams are looking for goalies and pickard’s played
Well cost you nothing to get him on waivers that I could see Jack Campbell the way he’s playing could get called up here because make no m mistake the team that he would play behind right now is much different than the team he played behind the first 12 games of the season
Now I know he only played what five or six games but still we’ve seen the difference so I think Jack Campbell will get another look in the NHL like question is will it be on his current existing contract the yours like if Jack Campbell plays well
The whole rest of the year in the American League and they call him up and maybe gets a game at the end of the season the NHL or maybe comes in a few relief games in the play play offs I still would probably lean towards not buying him out next year because the
More dead cap space you have like it’s just eventually it’s too much for the team because the orders feel like they got a three-year window minimum here to compete if they resign McDavid heck the the window’s another decade or however long his contract is let’s make that

The show how you doing man I’m doing pretty good thank you uh just ended Allstar break for us here in Anaheim so we’re ready to get back at it uh yeah they come back the orders have already played a game uh uh they played on Tuesday against Vegas the Ducks haven’t
Played since the 31st um H how much do you think the break impacts do you notice that you think in the first period does emont have an Advantage just for the rust factor in the first frame I would imagine that they would uh Anaheim got their first practice was
Actually yesterday afternoon uh 2:30 local time and uh you know pretty brisk workout and then they had kind of an extended morning skate I would call it today but yeah I expect to see some Rust um I think it’s inevitable almost although it is kind of interesting
Because some of the teams have come out of break and have really performed well in their first game gam back so we will wait and find out the Ducks haven’t had much luck with the Oilers this year and and I know that they are intent on putting you know a much better effort
Out there tonight than they have so far yeah oh yeah emont what 82 and seven2 victories and really that you know it’s not been a great matchup for Anaheim for the last few seasons um it’s kind of roll reversal because for many years the Ducks used to beat up on the orders for
Fun so uh now it’s kind of Switched uh a little bit I I guess can you get an update on on some of the injuries in Anaheim how close is zis not close uh you know it’s a broken ankle for Trevor and I think he’s at
About the four-week mark right now and I I I believe that’s a six to eight week injury so you know we’re we’re at least weeks away for Trevor he’s not you know I haven’t seen him around the rink in the last couple of days and uh certainly
Not on the ice yet pavell minakov is close he’s not going to play in tonight’s game but um he was out with a shoulder injury it’s been four weeks hean zigis got hurt in the same game um so hopefully pavl is is going to be back in the near future Anaheim doesn’t play
After this game by the way until Monday when the team takes off for a Canadian road trip and it starts in Montreal on Tuesday so um I I would expect that mikov definitely is going to play at some point on this trip and and hopefully earlier rather than later and
As for other injuries you know it’s been that kind of a year for the Ducks Alex colorin is still out he has started skating it’s a a broken BR it’s an issue with the knee he had surgery um he looks like he could be maybe a week he may
Even join on this trip and um you know there are question marks about Mason McTavish now he was down at the morning skate today and when asked about it the head coach said that he is a game time decision so we’re not even sure if Mason’s going to be part of the lineup
Tonight or not well and that’s a big blow right you throw in Mason you throw in zis you throw in color there’s three of your probably you know top six guys maybe three of your top five forwards that are out of the lineup against a team that’s won 24 of their last 28
Games and uh you know I look at this this lineup uh bran you know you’ve been on really competitive teams you know and you’ve covered good teams and then of course you’ve covered teams kind of in a rebuilding it you know you have young guys but it does wear on players after a
While and they’re you know you just wonder with all the youth in Anaheim and I know they have played better lately though I think they’re what three and one in their last four games so are they showing signs of coming around or are there still a long ways to go in your
Eyes I I think there’s still a long ways to go um but I I will say this last year um you know the Ducks got boat raced pretty regularly you know games where they were down 5-1 after two periods and they weren’t really competitive with the exception of the
Two Oiler games this season and one or two others they’ve been a very competitive team they I think they lead the league in one goal losses uh so far this year they’re in most most games in the third period they’re in it they just don’t have enough Talent or
Experience yet to to finish games off the way that you would hope that they would finish off I I see a lot of improvement this season even though the record doesn’t reflect that um they are an incredibly young team and unfortunately for them we just touched
On the current injuries but you know all of their young players uh you know Carlson who I think is going to be a star will the oiler fans will get a first look at Leo Carlson tonight he hasn’t played in either of the first two games he might be their best player
Right now and he turned 19 you know three or four weeks ago um Troy Terry’s an excellent player um but but you know what if if you’re missing Carlson who’s been out injured significant time Troy Terry’s been out significant time Max Jones has is just coming back and we’ll
Play today they they’ve just had one thing after another and it’s mostly their young players you know like mikov that they’re really trying to rebuild around that have Miss significant time so that’s a big concern for me because this is a year that you would hope would
Be the development year for your young core to really spend some time together uh really give the general manager an opportunity to see where he’s at and what he needs to do to build around that core but unfortunately it hasn’t worked out that way because they they’ve just
Been hit so hard by injur it’s been it’s been brutal yeah uh we are joined by analyst for the Ducks Brian Hayward former NHL net minder and uh you know as we’re a month away to to the trade deadline uh you know teams near the bottom lots of people are looking around
Say hey which guys can we get well Adam hanri is is a player I think that that would Garner a lot of interest uh you know what he’s he’s 34 years of age but he can still play right uh he could be a second line Center on a team he’d be a
Hell of a third line Center I think on on a playoff team um do you think it’s almost for sure that he’s gone and then what about yakob silverberg do you think he might be moved as well well you know both Adam and Jacob are are you know two guys on expiring
Contract so a lot of speculation about you know what their future holds honestly I hope they don’t trade Henrik because he is one of the you know one of the voices in the room that I think is really respected and with all of these young guys around they they need they
Need that veteran presence in there jackob silverberg has started to play the best hockey he’s played in the last two years in probably the the two to three weeks prior to the deadline he’s he’s just coming back he had hip surgery during the off seon so he’s just kind of
Getting back into you know 100% skating form right now and it’s really showed the last the last couple of weeks um is it a foregone conclusion that they’re gone I don’t know I I mean Pat forbs a GM that keeps his cards not just close to his vest but maybe embedded in his
Vest so he doesn’t tell us anything and I I got a feeling that you know if if he reaches out to Adam and tries to resign him here or to Jacob you know that that’s certainly going to impact his decision but if they don’t agree to a
Contract prior to the deadline then they definitely will be moved because verb’s not going to let them just you know leave on expiring contracts he’s just not going to do that with the stage this franchis is at right now and and the same would apply to you know Ilia

They’re going to do they come up with a different game plan yeah I don’t know if I expect them to just come out and be super run heavy that’s not who they are as a team like they want the ball to be in mahomes’s hands but I do think that they’re going
To try to get Pacho moving downhill like I think especially we saw in these last two games against Detroit and Green Bay if you attack the perimeter of the 49ers defensive line they’re not as good against the run as they are up the middle being able to get something going
On the edges try to break a few tackles break a big play here and there I think that’s the kind of thing that they could get going if you’re trying to run right up the middle against them though where they’ve got Eric Armstead Javon hardgrave and then those two linebackers
In the middle of the field too I don’t think that’s the way to attack them on the ground you want to try to get something going to the edges of the defense and see if they can you know not hold contain out there from a 49er perspective right
Everybody was like oh gez wasn’t a great first half against Detroit but then they really took over in the second half and we all know that Detroit maybe should have uh kicked a field goal one time or another but uh you know that was really
Kind of the only time that the 49ers had that lackluster of a first half right like are we are we putting too much emphasis on the bad first half and and overlooking all the good they’ve done all year because you could argue the 49ers have been the best and most
Consistent team from start to finish this year yeah I mean I think we probably are you know it’s it’s recency biased there’s a reason that it plays in for everybody like they have been like the way that they played for the 18 and a half games that they played
Throughout this season is more than likely more representative of the kind of team they are than the way they played in the first half of the NFC title NFC title game like we’ve we’ve seen how good a team they are throughout the entire season and it was a very
Uncharacteristic half that they had you know they had turnovers they had defense not really and then they got team pretty much the entire year that doesn’t that come out you know the off but we shouldn’t expect them to you know down by the first half either yeah
Know that’s fair do you see like and I love offense so I hope I’m wrong but I kind of see this game being a little bit of defensive battle where do you come out of yeah I’m with you I think both of these defenses are very good I think one
Way it could be the other way the 49 just can’t get pressure on momes at all if he’s able to sit back there like he has for the most part through the first three playoff games Chief I think that get you know veryy for that9 defense very quickly because the strength of
Their defense is up accept on the back end the weaknesses are more secondary so they get pressure defensive line control the game up front then I think city is gonna have you know not necessar easy time moving the ball but an easier and this I mean it the best

Minutes the other game he had 10 that’s it so um and he played a little bit more with Darnell nurse than anyone else uh through those two games so that was the only time the other 31 games or de pairs have been the same now they don’t play every shift together
Right because they’re sometimes coming off a penalty kill coming out of power play and even when they change on the fly if you notice the one thing the orders how they change on the Fly certain situations is they will have a right d take the left guy guy if the
Left guy is the farther uh side so then the other guy can switch off to the near side it’s kind of weird or sorry if the Lefty is the near side the right guy will take him off because then when the right guy changes the the second right d

Didn’t he was trying to see what could work he was trying to see you know how does this player play with that player how do they handle this situation because when it got to the hard points of of of games like in the regular season and in the playoffs he wanted to
Know exactly what could work he wasn’t just of throwing it up to to guesswork and the other thing Scotty never did is he never did it after the trade deadline leading into the plus he didn’t want anybody to see it so I think what Chris noblock is doing is brilliant this is

Think there like a New Jersey Devils and Tyler T Foley to me um if he gets dealt it’s because the Devils have fallen out of the playoff race right now with them getting Jack Hughes I think they’re going to remain patient and think they can get back in it right so you know
There’s that cat and mouse game of saying hey we might want to write uh a second line right winger but do we wait to see if Tuli becomes available how do you play that cat and mouse game or do you if you know you look and say okay
There’s two guys we like and whichever one we can get first that’s what we’re gonna get them and we’re not necessarily gonna wait till last minute one in hand as we’re two in the bush that’s how the old saying goes and you know if you’re going to wait and and

See all this frantic discussions and and and then you end up potentially not getting a player that that even fits what you’re trying to do so to me you you got to be measured you got to be purposeful you got to understand what’s available and you got to understand that
When teams are going well we’re going to see if we’re in or out okay good like we’ll give you a little bit of time but you better be going down the stretch hoping that a team because if you if you’re in the last 10 days let’s just
Say and and and a team isn’t certain where the at I would suggest move on Craig Button from uh TSN joins us uh Craig the uh the New York Rangers are an interesting team to me because on paper they got a lot of things going for them
And they’re doing all this despite their starting goalen or really ever finding his game do you at what point do you get concerned do you think in New York about Cher never okay why would you what are you gonna do like you so you can be concerned and what’s that going to get
You nothing like he’s an elite goalie so he he he might be having you know some performances that aren’t at the par but there’s nothing you can do about it so what you’re G to try to do is is work with them to try to get them back to
Form and and and and and try to be patient and at the same time push but there’s nothing you can do about it you’re not going to get another goalie there just there’s no thing so work with them and try to find a way to get his level of playoff that’s what you

Playing their top six guys a lot are you concerned with the amount of minutes or do you think maybe in the NHL we we get too worried about time on Ice no I think you have to be concerned about time on ice with respect to you
Know what what you’re trying to do with your players I mean I mean there’s only so much you can get out of players uh with respect to their conditioning and and what the demands are so when ice time gets to be a little bit more than
What you think is ideal for them where you’re going to extend them number one number two is are they gonna be are they gonna start pacing themselves and I’ll just give you an example let’s just say I’m just going to use 20 minutes as an example so so so you’re looking at going
20 minutes is ideal so you know you might push a player to 21 but now he gets up to 24 and now you’re extending him well that that’s great so now you’re thinking about okay the player starts to have to pace himself but it doesn’t start at minute 21 to 24 the player
Knows he’s got to play more he starts pacing himself at 18 so now you’ve lost three minutes and you’ve added three minutes onto the back end that’s not good for your team and there’s no team that’s going to go deep in the playoffs when you’re extending ice time to to to
To top players you can’t that’s why you need depth in your lineup that’s why you need depth in your forward group and for the Toronto Maple Leafs playing those guys too much extending them too much it won’t pay dividends when it matters the most and that’s a big problem for the TR
M police let me just see where where’s the problems okay their goal tending has been a problem their defense is a problem their forward depth is a problem seems to me that they got a lot of problems Craig Button from uh TSN uh joins us Craig the uh if I look at other
Teams around like the Florida Panthers two years ago they made some big moves that didn’t pan out last year they didn’t make much um like I look at some of the good teams here I don’t think like Vancouver made a pretty substantial move all right and they did it early and

Short term he’s probably gonna want Power Play time you’ve got a really good power play you probably don’t want to mess with that so then you’re like well now we’re taking away power play time like how do you B how do you balance all that when you’re the GM and is the
Chemistry Factor more important and sometimes teams maybe Overlook it nope I don’t agree with that if the Evon Oro has made a trade for Jake gensel the excitement from the players in that dressing room would be off the charts okay because they would see it as
Clearly a player that can come in he’s won a couple of Stanley Cups that in and of itself is significant number two he’s been a big-time playoff performer he’s an elite player that excites players and you know you’re you’re talking about moving somebody down the lineup you’re
Not moving a top player down the lineup you’re moving somebody else down the lineup players are excited about an opp opportunity to strengthen your team always the case now there is a there is a case for what you just talked about when you add a player that that doesn’t
That that isn’t the right fit and now you’re trying to put Square pegs in round holes and you’re displacing other players that causes problems but you had you had top players like Jake gensel never a problem all right um if you are Ken Holland what would be what do you think
Is your number one priority to add I think it’s a second line right winger what do you think it is for the orders roster that’s currently built I think they need I think they need some weight and speed and in in in their forwards 10 to 12 N9 to 12 that’s
What I want to see so that’s your biggest look at the depth yeah yeah but I don’t I don’t need I don’t need a second line right winger I I’m fine with the way their offense is number one in the league they don’t need they don’t need offense I think they need more
Depth more speed need more a little bit more weight deeper into the four group Bruce Cassidy he said it we beat Edmonton last year with our third and fourth lines that’s where I think Eon can strengthen themselves that’s where I’m looking well how about this trade uh
Nick doubt I’ve crunched all his numbers Craig he’s hell of a player in in uh in Washington but I wouldn’t just because I think he’s gonna I think he’s gonna take a first rounder just like uh Barkley guo did and I don’t have a problem with that
He’s he’s a really low value uh cap hit at 1.3 million uh I mean a low cost good value at 1.3 million but I wouldn’t just acquire I would convince Washington to give me Dow and Beck uh marenstein his Winger they play together he’s six foot three he’s 200 pounds he’s physical he
Kills a lot of penalties so does dow and that to me if I’m the Emon orders I get two birds with one stone and I get two guys who have chemistry they play all the time together they actually can match up against the other team’s top
Lines which could free up McDavid for a few three four shifts a game not against other team’s top guys actually I I made I wrote the article I think that might be the best possible outcome and I don’t think you’re going to have to give up a
Lot to to throw in h Beck into that trade well it’s interesting I just said get some weight and speed deeper down the lineup you said second line right winger and then you come back with that I’m I’m 100% on board with you yeah that’s exactly what they need I think
That’s exactly what makes their team deeper and stronger and and again you use the Barkley good so you’re trying to find a way to manipulate try to get a little bit more and and you’re right I I remember when the Tampa Bay Lightning traded uh Nolan foot in a first round
Draft pick for Blake Coleman they’re going oh what’s this and then they trade a first- round pick for Bara good what’s this what it was was was strengthening their team deeper in their lineup they had the stars and and that’s what eon eon doesn’t I don’t think Edon needs
Help in the top part of their forward group they need help deeper in the lineup if you can make that deal if I could make that deal I I would be going to Washington and piggybacking those guys back to Edmonton who do you trade in your scenario for them Gregor um well you’re
Gonna have to give up a first and uh to make the salary work you’re gonna throw in uh brown or Yanmar and Washington’s fine those guys are you know expiring contracts and then you probably have to give like a mid- round pick for uh for Beck Malin like that’s what I i’ I’ve
Looked at a lot of trade deadlines um the big swings aren’t necessarily what always wins you uh cup or for because if you’re a good team you don’t like I look at Florida two years ago Craig and I remember at the time I was like they
Went out and got giru and and um sherro and gave up a lot and I was like God I’m not even sure they really needed those and it didn’t work now it worked because they won a round so in argument maybe the organization said that was good for
Us because we had want a round forever but man you can go back to Michael hanus and other guys like that the the secondary guys sometimes Craig for good teams that’s what you need like don’t need top end guys now a second line right winger to me is more of a
Complimentary guy they don’t need a driver they just need a complimentary shooter is what I was saying for a second line wi but they have their offense they they have more than enough offense anyway you know look at how good Ivan barbashev last year was for Vegas
Gold Knights yeah I mean I mean we we we can keep going into it I mean it’s all there it’s it’s been there and and you can look back and and and understand what teams have done I just talked about the Tampa Bay Lightning what they did did anybody think that Michael kepney
Was going to be a key player I mean he ended up coming and giving them 16 to 18 minutes of good hard heavy defense that took pressure and you just talked about taking pressure and taking some of the owners we talked about ice time right you’re trying to it becomes hard you
Want to win the Stanley Cup it’s two months of hard like competitive edgy play every other night and and you can’t be extending your players you you’re not going to be able to get through it and so the more you can alleviate the stresses with ice time and and and
Matchups the better the stronger you’re going to be and the more capable you’re GNA be so Jason like what you just talked about I I am 100% on board with that and I think that those are those are moves that become really really significant uh to to to strengthen and
Bolster your lineup to make you so much harder to play on and I’ll go back to Vegas because they’re just recent and and but they’re important but you think think about the line of Kier W and ksar Bruce Cassie never had a problem using them against the other teams Top Line in
Fact ksar is the one that took out Matthew kachak because Bruce said I can play him out there on the ice having players like that deeper in your lineup that make opponents uncomfortable and make you as a coach comfortable having them out on the ice is is incredibly
Important and good teams winning teams have these types of players and I I I love your idea about I mean I wish I wish that uh uh I would have thought of that but that’s a that’s a great trade I think Ken Holland should give you
Royalties if he makes that trade oh well he should too I I probably don’t get any but uh I could always asked for it you put it you put in a word in for me Craig I think that would be great one last one for you about adding a seventh
Defenseman uh I think it’s a must you look at the history of the NHL and how many teams use dmen you know there’s somebody getting nicked up blocking more shots it’s physical all that stuff um the importance of a seventh d man for you Craig like there’s you know because
You want to bring in somebody that’s going to be comfortable in that role knowing they might like they’re there you know in case of glass break and then I’m G to use you right how how much of the personality of the player like I I use Zach MOSI and it’s an easy example
He’s one you know he’s a veteran guy he can still play right so he fits in he’s not expensive but when you’re at when you’re acquiring a player who who’s who’s likely going to be more of a a Press Box guy than someone you you don’t
Want them to be you know um kind of the mopy guy around the room how do you find out that they for sure won’t be a moper well I mean that’s that’s part of making sure that you have the information in the intel on the players and understanding that a player coming
In uh you know and being asked that this is what we’re asking him to do you know not only not only has the personality to get in there and work every day and keep himself ready but also has the personality to accept that that’s what
His role is and you know Jason and we’ve all heard this over the years I hear it all the time players are willing uh to to to accept thing are willing to do certain things but embracing it and accepting it are two very different things and and that’s part of the work
You have to do you have to know the people you have to understand their willingness to embrace it because that’s not an easy thing to do because because it is it’s a state of Readiness and a state of accepting and embracing that role that’s important and you don’t want
Somebody that comes in there that’s going to be that that that’s going to have less than a stellar attitude with with respect to approaching it that way you need that and you got to make sure that you that you you’ve done the work to know that whoever you’re bringing in
