If you are struggling with your golf swing right now you need to watch this simple golf tip which will solve so many of your issues. Setting your right forearm like this will create the effortless smooth golf swing you’ve been looking for in your game, no matter your handicap. In this video, PGA Top Coach Alex Elliott dives into the only move you need to make to set this right forearm into the perfect position along with a basic drill which involves a key backswing position and downswing move to make sure you’re getting the very best results from setting the right forearm like this in your golf swing!
This video will teach you how to simplify how you use the arms in the golf swing, this will result in you controlling the face, create great width, get on plane, de-loft the club and massively improve your impact position. In this video I will talk about the correct way to simply set the right forearm and utilise this in the golf swing, so that you can produce a simple and effortless golf swing!
A lot of amateurs do not know how to set the arm correctly, it is hard to achieve after all! As a result the causes the club to get off plane, they lose control over the clubface creating, most commonly, a very open clubface throughout the golf swing. All in all this will result in huge inconsistencies in your golf game, making it far harder than it needs to be.
By following this simple golf lesson from PGA pro Alex Elliott you will produce a better impact position, more shaft lean, better clubface control and compression. If you can do this then you will play better golf and your scores will start to lower fast!

This is the huge realization that I have had about your golf swing yes your golf swing you’re trying to control too many complicated things what you’ve got to concentrate on now going forwards and please please please promise me this is just these two points your grip pressure
And your arm positions at address with all of your clubs because in reality that’s going to make a huge difference so together let’s start with your grip pressure and this is not a grip pressure video that you’ve seen before this is something completely different as a PJ
Pro I recommend you watch the entire video any questions you’ve got just comment them down below and I’ll reply to them all at the end of the video and what I want you to think about here is if I take you to the top of the back
Swing and listen to what I’m going to say here if I add loads of grip pressure where am I going to make the club fall I’m going to pull down the handle add pressure and there’s no wonder my club moves over the top okay well we don’t
Want that second point the reason why grip pressure is vitally important if I hold my club 10 out of 10 or let’s say even eight out of 10 my ability to close that face is significantly reduced so there’s no wonder we stand here and slice it with grip pressure that is all
Out of whack so what I’m trying to say to you here is if your git pressure is really high more likely to swing over the top and you’re less likely to square that face up more likely to leave it open so let’s fix this and I’ve got a really
Good way for you to do this we’ve heard the TU tube of toothpaste we’ve heard don’t break the egg but this is the one I want you to do so I want you to hold your golf club out in front of you now for me to hold it here my grip pressure
Has to be relatively High cuz the head is away from me isn’t it it feels quite heavy so I have to add a bit of pressure otherwise it’s going to fall now if I had it all the way up here I can sort of c one out of 10 grip pressure cuz all
The weight is above me and the shaft is sort of just being supported here so if we said halfway is about a five this is 10 out of 10 and this is 1 out of 10 all I want you to do is lower the club to
Around five think of that Spectrum 1 10 five that is then you just bow over that is how you get the grip pressure correct now I feel as though I can release that club I feel as though I can use my arms and I’ll be honest when I’ve done this
With students just making this change the speed goes way up now let me just show you how far I’m going to hit this okay hold it up fine there right halfway it’s just about there see how easy that was by the way you’ve got to see how far this has just
Gone now how effortless did that look and having a lighter grip pressure just gives me a flow in my swing and I’ll give you one too okay 258 we take that every single time let’s now have a look at the arm position one thing I would really say about that grip
Pressure analogy it gives you freedom in that release you often find if you’re strangling the club your forearms get tense these get tense your chest gets tense your whole body gets tense speed drops control drops even though you feel like you’re trying to control the club
In reality it has a very opposite effect so we’ve now got to just sort this right arm out that’s all we’ve got to do now it’s really that easy and I told this to a student the other day and the realization was that actually the golf
Swing is easy Once you set up to it better he was swinging and I can’t tell you great but from a very poor position his whole swing was just becoming a mechanism of saving it so really this is what I want you to focus on we want both
Of our arms up here so the crease of my elbows off facing up to the sky okay both of them want to avoid these elbows pointing out so this is the order that I do it in just so you know when you’re on the golf course you’ve got a little bit
Of a routine so place your left hand on up like this you can see that crease really easy roll just your palm over just like that take your grip okay this is set look at that there I can really feel the crease in here so I then get my
Stance just with my left hand on the club just my left hand for now I then go give blood okay now this is really important cuz if we start here we’re more likely to get in that really favorable position at the top if we start here we’re more likely to go okay
And that’s all you got to think about so want to give blood again my crease is pointing up we’ve already got this arm set move my palm over and what I would say is it’s almost like I’m just rolling it through my forearm rolling it through
My forearm to get my hand on the golf club now a really favorable position to be in here and all the top coaches in the world all the top ball Strikers Mo Norman Ben Hogan all were Advocates of this so look at this position all I’m
Going to do now is just make my grip pressure right and my arc of my swing starts to become a lot more controllable now that took me a little bit of time to do but this is how quick it can be on the course so when you’re practicing or
On the course up Palmer over a dress give blood Palm over easy as that and I just feel like I’ve got much better control of everything I’m doing in my swing once I start right 258 again absolute carbon copy that is what I want to
See here we go and I know you can add maybe not this but if you can great you might even hit it further than me but don’t forget if you are enjoying these videos please don’t forget to subscribe turn the Bell that way you always get notified when we release a video

Def trying this my next range session! Great tips
Love it!!
This is a great light bulb 💡 moment for me. Heading to the range to give it a go. Thanks as always Alex! Keep sharing the golden tips.
I will try this at our driving range thank you for another great idea
Alex a thought :- rather than hold the club upright for lightest grip, then 45 degrees 'up' for ideal grip; why not rest the club on the deck for lightest grip, then raise it to 45 degrees 'down' for the light grip, maintain that light grip when taking your stance?
I spy a Wilson Dynapower Carbon head??? Hence the carbon copy comment at the end of the video 🤷🏻♂️ How do you like the Wilson?
I have to acknowledge, without being critical of others, I think some of your methods are some of the best on you tube.
Alex, what are your thoughts on taking the bottom hand index finger and thumb off the grip to reduce the force of the dominant hand and prevent the shaft steepening in transition?
Like the portable driving cage.
Now just need a video about technique for when it’s time to trim all those shrubs, haha. That’ll take some proper technique as well.
Thanks for the video, just recently started turning that elbow in that motion and it’s worked great for me through the bag, except with the driver. For some reason I’m leaving it more open that usual, must not be getting that wrist turned over properly. This visual will help.
Hey Alex I really struggle for distance on my drive can hit it about 220 yards any suggest to help me , I use a ping g430 lst and my ball speed is 140 mph please help ⛳️🏌🏻
Alex I've been doing that for 30 years and I still only hit it 200 tops. But I'm an old man. I used to hit about 220 or so. But old age has gotten me. I'm 67 now so no worrys😂😂
Is this filmed in your backyard
Could you share info on launch monitor you use on your on course videos. May I ask your height? I am 5'6" and wonder what realistic club head speed could be. Minnesota. USA.
Great video and we worked on this on tuesday.. cheers
You explained it even better than mr. hogan
Great video, always look forward to watching them. I might have missed it, but shouldcan this be done with irons as well?
Can’t wait to try the level 5 grip pressure. I struggle with consistency and this is likely a big part of it. Will work on this. Thanks Alex!
Alex. Can you recommend an app that we can take to the range and get some stats on our phones?
That was a little zephyr of a breeze today Alex. Love the Swing thought.
What a simple solution Alex that you have given on how to make the Driver Launch so Easy! I have been working on these two areas of my set up (grip pressure and arm set!) I have been using a light grip pressure (maybe a 4 or 5) and having both of my elbows pointing to my hips. I make sure that my left arm is relatively straight and my right arm is slightly bent. In other words, I am mimicking what you are describing in this video. It definitely keep me in the short grass! Well Done Alex!!!
Looking forward to getting out soon and applying your techniques!
Hello Alex.
Strange question.
Can you make a comparison between a golf club and a Katana?
The Katana is gripped like a golf club, with the left hand up and the right hand down.
This gives you :
– Cutting power, given by the lower hand: as the sword is held by its tip, the radius described by the tip of the blade during a cut is the greatest and therefore the maximum speed.
– Precision of cut, given by the upper guiding hand.
