So you’ve got 5 minutes until you tee off and let’s face it nobody wants to get off to a shocker now because of the limited time that you have you’re only going to be able to work on a small number of things and probably the best way to go is overall movement patterns
But before you even consider that there is one place that you should probably go more than any other getting here on the green is something that you should consider because let’s face it if you think about your rounds if you think about how they begin often more than not
You will lose a lot of shots around this area so if you are limited for time practicing those short range puts from 3 to 4 feet because imagine how many of these that you’re going to be faced in that first period of your round these are the difference between dropping big
Shots off your scores and really getting those annoying doubles and triple Bogies off the cart also just allowing yourself to have that feel over a range of makeable puts as well that’s really going to set you in good stead when you get out on the golf course but probably
The most important thing to consider is if you are a subscriber to the YouTube channel if you are not make sure you hit that subscribe button now we release weekly coaching videos to help you improve your game so how can we start those movement patterns how can we get
The body working in the right order a fantastic little drill that you can use but also which is very useful to warm up simply take a club pop it across your chest and get into your setup position now what we want to be doing here is rotating away trying to get the upper
Body facing away from the target so you can see that my chest here is facing backwards and you can see the butt end of my grip is facing straight forward now what I’ve managed to do here is get a full rotation of the body away cly the
Upper body and then what I’m going to do is on the way through turn through to the Target it and come up to a full finish position now what this is allowing you to do is to get all the body working as it should be within the
Go swings kinetic sequence now when you do this if you turn away and just hold that position at the top move into that stretch a little bit more this is going to enable those vital parts of the body that you need to be loose to get into a
More flexible State it’s just really a case of repeating this motion really sitting into those stretches I can feel this all along my lower back I can feel it in my torso and then as I’m coming through I Can Feel Again that stretch up through the body and for this part of
The warm-up we can dedicate about a minute minute and a half so to get your body loosened up here we’ve just done some rotational exercises and the go swing really is made up of rotational movements and then up and down movement so that is the second thing we want to
Work on so I’ve got two clubs here it’s going to become apparent why in a second but all I’m going to do here is hold these clubs over my head and I’m going to do a squat now obviously it depends on your current range of motion but if
You can get somewhere near these positions it’s going to enable you to loosen up your lower body a little bit more very simply clubs above your head and then move down Sumo style who there we go I’m trying to keep my heels on the floor here so I don’t want to be lifting
Up onto my toes as we just move down push the ass out and then back up now this is going to be stretching shoulders upper body but it’s also going to be activating those glutes activating your lower half and again about a minutes worth of those so two clubs this is
Going to act as a weighted movement very simply I’m going to grab the grip end bit more like a baseball bat I’m not going to use my golf grip for this but I’m just going to take very slowly back swings and through swings and allow the momentum of the club head
The extra weight at the end of the shaft to pull me through and really start to feel different parts of the Swing as I move back and forth and we’re not looking for technical perfect swings here all we’re looking for again is to feel those movements feel those
Rotations as we come through so again take about a minute to do this constant swinging will actually get your heart rate up on this as well now the final part of the warm-up is very simple all I want you to do is to visualize if you
Can if it’s a new course this might be a little bit more difficult but most people watching this will be playing a regular venue try and imagine what the first few holes of your golf course require and then select some clubs which you’ll likely to hit now the first thing
I’ve got here is a sand wedge because I’m going to be working myself backwards from the green so imagine that you’ve missed your first green or your first couple of greens and all I’m going to do is hit some short pitches down to where a Target that have identified is we’re
Only talking about 30 to 40 yards and I’m just trying to get Club on ball oh not too far away cuz what I’m doing in the time available is putting my brain into the situations that it might be facing obviously we can’t tell for sure you know on the golf course
Crazy things can occur so second up I’ve got a 99 again if this was a course I was playing I’d be imagining okay I’m going to play my second shot into the green with a 99 as I backward chain from the putting surface so I’m just going to
Weim down at the post with the black and white stripes and I think I’m going to hit it so next up with the 7 iron I’m going to pick a different Target so I’m going to weigh just to the right of the black and white stripes there’s a little patch
On the ground the down there which I’m going to try and land it again just taking my time with the swing I’m not rushing it here oh feeling loose I’m made of oil so for me there I’ve hit pretty much every single club that I might need on my imaginary second hole
So I’m down onto the first now so I’m going to take my seven wood which I can hit for a little bit of a layup if I need to and then I’m going to be whacking away the driver so I’ve got my Fairway in mind just to right the blue and white stripes
Something that’s become apparent in this warmup is that I now hit a draw now last up we have the big stick so this is the final part of the warm-up if you are playing a PA three to begin with for example I would recommend hitting the
Club that you’re going to use on that first hole for me I’m going to be hitting a driver off the first it’s just the driver that I want to use so just going to go through that routine again the Fairway I’ve ripped it as well now as mentioned if you are
Struggling for time there is a decision to be made whether you’re going to be better going to the putting green going to the chipping ring or focusing on the Range or in a net within 5 minutes there you’ve probably prepared your body as well as it possibly can be prepared
Obviously speaking as a coach I would recomend commend getting here much earlier mainly just for a bacon sandwich but also if you do want that full warm-up this is an absolutely fine approach to take and it will give you a little bit more looseness heading into
The round but in reality you have to temper those expectations if you’ve only got 5 minutes before you play you’re going to have 5 minutes worth of preparation that you could have had much longer if you’d have gotten out of bed a touch earlier and maybe had a few less
Scoops last night yes Dave I’m talking to you okay thank you for watching if you do need more help with your game continue to watch your swing Quest videos here

Well done Pete ๐ ๐
Glad I'm doing it correctly…suggest that your cameraman checks the ba ground before filming, as the left handed idiot behind you could do with some pointers ๐
Trust me when i say Pete, you are the best golf YouTuber by a county mile, carry on doing what you do, donโt change
This is exactly what I need, a proper warm up routine for a quick turnaround. Thank you
Excellent. So simple and so well explained ๐
LOL ๐
Watching the guys behind you on the range ๐๏ธโโ๏ธ
โฆ They should be watching your videos โ๐ป
You also need to rememberโฆ
That first shot you make from the first tee counts the same number of strokes as the last putt on the 18th green on the scorecard ๐
Yeah……dave๐
What about the 1 minute warmup? ๐
To be honest Iโd take long lag putt practice over 2-3 footers all day long. If you donโt get the speed of the greens by lag putting, youโll be having 6-8 footers (statistically much harder) rather than 2-3 footers. Iโve lost more shots early on by not getting my long putts close to the hole than missing 3 footers. Caveat is that some practice greens donโt resemble the course green speed but fortunately my course does. ๐๐ป
I try and get to the course at least an hour before to do exactly that , warm up and practice. Sadly still not a pro but I enjoy playing regardless. ๐
I did enjoy watching this video. Some really good advice. I've noticed the 7 wood is Becoming more popular.
Love itโฆ. Just followed the same warm routine ๐
Push the arse out, brilliant ๐คฃ
Great stuff – other than advising to stretch statically (holding the stretch) pre game. Dynamic stretching (bouncing in and out of it as you wrote) is the correct way to stretch prior to activity. Countless studies and literature on this. ๐
Was that a little spolier regarding your build the bag series, Pete? Looking at that Qi10 7-wood
Another great vid Pete…but personally, it's ALWAYS my driver that cost me the most strokes per round. It's the only club in my bag that's ever cost me 4 strokes on the first hole (two stroke and distance penalties off the tee).
Good thing I'm not Dave, that mean those scopes were perfectly fine ๐
Great vid, Pete. Sound advice. Is the AI Milled the new putter for '24? Or just using for the vid?
Peter, now with a solid driver and oily swing, I am looking forward to your quest for the OPEN !!!
Those tips actually led me to subscribe.
Good stuff Pete
I like to chip if I donโt have time to warm up. I try to focus on proper take away and follow through because I know that will help with the rest of my swing.
<3 Rockin them new Blue Print Pings <3
๐ฎ HOLY CRAP, PETE!! Did you take my suggestion from a couple of weeks ago and visit one of my favorite Phoenix, AZ Munis, Aguila?!? ๐ฅณ
All your doing is raising expectations so when go out there thinking Iโm going to crush the course instead it crushes me. Only problem is now I canโt blame not being warmed up lol. Love your videos.
ELLO PEEETAH
โfive minute warm up. 8 minute videoโ ๐ค๐ค๐ค
Wish I would have done this before the round this morning ๐. Oh well canโt wait to try this next time.๐ฆฆ
Push the arse out ๐ ๐ช๐๐
Those were nice draws
Unless you got the first couple tee times or no range at the course, how about actually getting to the course beforehand and be ready to play. This is why people do not improve, it takes them 4 or 5 holes to warm up, by then you got a few doubles already. When you get to the course, expect at least 4 1/2 to 5hr round, know it's going to take that long and stop being impatient on the course. Too many people showing up last minute when they know they have a tee time that day and not planning ahead or knowing what to expect.
When I play, I don't expect to be done 4hrs and do not make reservations or plans right after the round
Where do you stand on swinging multiple clubs (weighted) being counterproductive. As you're swinging them slower and the way to go was to turn the driver upside down and swing that so it acts like a speed stick kinda thing. To get your speed up before a round. Normally, if you have 5 minutes to warm up, you've got no chance of getting near a range.
Allways warm up before even at the range! Makes a differnce
