[Applause] [Applause] and just like that the off seon is complete the 2024 Allstar event of the disc golf pro tour is right around the corner and before that event happens we have to draft teams it’s the All-Star draft time I’m Brian aart and joining us in the dgn booth two of the top

Finishers last year on the foo side uh Missy Ganon and own Scoggins the captains for the All-Star event this year welcome welcome welcome first before uh we get into things I want to talk to Missy first you’re the top tiered Captain right now second in the uh standings last season how are you

This winter I’m great yeah I’m uh down in Florida being being able to practice and stay on top of my game um more than I had been in the past which is really nice and um yeah just uh can’t believe it’s already here but I’m excited on you mentioned last year that

You were going to promise us that you would take a long break after a grueling uh long season how has this winter been for you well I still take a break off opposite side of Missy I was not playing m at all I I have been traveling um all over the

Place and just try to heal my arm you know um I start to practice here a little bit um so we’ll see what’s going to happen well let’s take a look at the format here for the draft we’re going to get right into things it’s going to be a

Snake Draft today Missy being the higher seed from last season gets the number one pick but then own gets Picks 2 and three Missy gets picks four and five and so on and so forth until every player has been drafted we are choosing just the best disc golfers possible unlike

Last year’s Allstar event we are not doing team skills competitions we’re not doing a team distance and team putting those skill competitions will be there at the event but not a part of the team competition and then with that it’s just going to be a stroke play Saturday

Doubles event stroke play Sunday singles event and that’s what we’re drafting for today I want to ask Missy who does have the first pick of this fantastic talented group of women uh I mean missy we had more unique women winners in the foo division than ever before what is

Your philosophy when drafting a team what are you uh what are you going for here um a lot of a lot of things honestly um you know I think that the way the um standing shook out from last year I think are going to play an important role um you know you just

Never know what uh what people are doing in the offseason and and uh you know you really kind of have to be a little intuitive and pick players that you think are going to give you the best odds to win and um you know I think uh

It’s hard I went over it over and over again in preparation for this and it just it it’s so it’s so nice we have so many really great players uh everybody on this list is a great player so it’s not really it just kind of depends on on

What how it all shakes out and um you know who own picks and uh but I think we’re we’re in for a a great Allstars event uh no matter what happens well I’m gonna ask the same question to you own obviously we’re not playing for points

At this Allstar event but I’m sure the comp the competitive side can’t really go away when it comes to this uh what type of team are you looking to uh put together here well you know me um it’s had to be playing good and fun in the same

Time that’s my team’s gonna be um so you know what I know everybody I I don’t need to even um like I said like they all good they all deserve U to to pick and it’s unfortunately we you know I cannot pick all of them and we have to be uh some of

I cannot pick some I can pick so but I want them to be know like hey no matter what um you know you you all just like so good and challenging um but my team I would you know I’m I’m just going to

Look at um some you know I I have a hard time go back and forth which one I want to pick also but no no matter what the people I’m going to pick is is is I I I look at a lot of their skill um you know

And there some kind of the course they play to what’s what their skill going to fit with the course or or who like you know over overloads like like you know sidearm back hand whatever I don’t know um but like I said um the end of the day

Um my my my team whatever um they I believe in all of them it’s going to be good like doesn’t matter like Missy team my team that’s why it’s going to be like so close this year it’s going to be so much fun well we we head to the Olympus disc golf

Course where uh historically the throw down the mountain tournament has been played just an incredible course we’re heading to Brooksville Florida uh should be incredibly exciting let’s jump right into it first pick you get one single pick being at the top Missy Ganon uh let’s jump into it who’s your

Pick and why um I think that it goes without saying the next highest ranked player to choose from would be Holland Handley she’s a deadly backhand forehand she’s been working on her own course this entire offseason so you you know she’s been playing uh a lot she’s been

Hitting the gym I know that for sure um so yeah it’s a no-brainer Holland Hanley goes number one to team Missy little Discraft connection there that player is off the charts now now own pick number two and three we’re snaking back to Missy after this so you get two choices who’s number

Who’s your second pick my first pig is gonna be Hy King so you know Hy King like said thow far backand s pting good and she hit the gym too right now like I was so impressed and I feel like she she is a very good strong player and

She got everything and she’ll she’ll bring uh the win to my team and the second one oh man I have a hard time the second one I’m gonna go with cat merch so cat mer like I said you know she got it all backand th far very confident and um

Very smart player and she just no scare of whatsoever that this lady you know so yeah so um I believe in two of them couple of young players Haley King and C merch now also off the charts not able to be picked couple of uh great players from

Both sides of the disc forehand and backhand I see a little bit of a pattern here Missy are you seeing the same thing his own have you gotten to see this new course in Olympus I have not personally been there um ever even when it was throw on the

Mountain I have watched pretty much all the coverage I could um from previous tournaments so I kind of have an idea of what the course is like and I know that um yeah I know that well-rounded players are going to be uh really an asset on

That course and um but also people that can stay controlled um so yeah it’s uh you know nowadays if you’re well-rounded you’re you’re going to be a force to be reckoned with so it’s important well now Missy you get choices number four and five what do you have for us all right

Well I’m G to add another bomber to my list um she’s also been hitting the gym uh playing even when it’s cold out and uh you might say she’s a part of the the duo now um so I’m gonna I’m going with Ella Hansen again strong on both sides

Um of of the disc and uh you know she’s proven that she’s uh a really a really talented player and uh her her ceiling is very high and for your next pick for my next one yeah this uh I went back and forth on this one um but I have to say just

Given given her track record at the allstar event she is undefeated she’s an undefeated All-Star she’s been a captain before and uh she has more fpo World titles in either of us so um I’m going with Katrina Allen getting some experience on the team a nice mixture some newer players

To the tour and now we have two-time world Champion Katrina Allen on the team this is shaping up to be quite the battle uh own what do you have to say what what is Missy’s team looking like so far are you are you scared yet man

Good pick strong you know um I mean um you never know man my team is like is gonna build up good too so we’ll see well you have two more picks six and seven go to you own who do you choose um so the first one is going to be Hannah blam

Blum so you know Hannah like she is very good with open wood course her pting with solid and she’s just getting better and better every year and when I play with her and she might don’t have a s but this lady can throw back hand and nail the Gap just

Like no one can do and I’m very exciting to have her as my team and then the next one is going to be Jessica wheat like I said Jessica weed her game just getting stronger and stronger and this lady have S backand and throw far you

Know and she she she work hard on it she work hard on it and I I I believe in in in her she she’s gonna do great henna blamus and Jessica whis now off the charts on team own I’m going to ask a question before Missy’s next two picks

To both of you as team captains going into an All-Star event these are your peers that you see week in and week out what type of a role as a Captain are you going to take are you actually going to try to be the emotional leader of the

Team are you going to try to coach decision making or are you taking your hands off the wheel Missy um you know I think none of these players need coaching uh we are all here because we are the best of the best so um I yeah I’m just going to be there for

Support but I’m just going to um you know know that they all know what they’re doing and they uh all have just amazing accolades uh under their belts and just great skills so um yeah I’m just going to be there I pick them because I I did this list over and over

Again and funny thing is that I’m uh I kind of predicted right so far so um I uh I put a lot of thought into this and I know that the players I pick are um are going to handle this course well and yeah I’m excited for my next two picks

On I uh I want to ask you the same question are you going to take charge of the team or are you going to go big boss mode and uh coach the players in any way you know what this lady is a big boss already they are big boss I mean and you

Know what I’m I I have been I have been um a capton before and I like to give them all the freedom they want and then whatever they have some thought to share with me or whatever you know I’m I’m I’m happy to be there but I know this

Lady I look at their eyes they need they they want to win more than me you know you know I’m talking about like I don’t even say anything this lady was like make me chew on my bone so yeah so you know what I just got to be like sh like let’s go

Girls well with that said Missy you have two more players to add to the roster who do you choose my final two players um so I think that this particular player is somebody who is is quite new um but she is already proven that she is um developing very fast which is

Something I appreciate um having joined the sport late in in my life um and I think people sleep on her and it’s only cuz she’s she’s newer but um she’s got she’s I see a lot of potential in her and I think she’s uh again just great on

Both sides of the discs disc and that is Ali Smith Ali Smith hitting that phenomenal ace at the World Championships I think uh there’s some more highlights up her sleeve coming into this year so pretty solid Choice there Missy and who are you choosing next okay

Both of these players man as we’ve been saying they’re just they’re so good um but I’m going off of track record specifically at the throw down the mountain this player not only has played that course but she also won throw on the mountain back in 2021 um so she knows how to navigate

That course and she is the Fairway Queen so I am going with Miss Sarah Hokum another another world champion and a world champion in the woods in 2012 in Charlotte own what do you think about those picks are you uh shaking in your boots yet no no no you know what let me

Tell you something my team you can not even know we have 13 so we already win well with that own Ma valz goes to your team you’ve played with Macy many times what are your thoughts on her as a player um she’s a good player you know she’s have everything like I said

Overload backand side arm and strong very very uh fun to play with and and you know I I I cannot wait like what she going to bring to our team you know and and I know I have like very strong team right here and we we we GNA

Get it we’re g to get it done well Missy what do your thoughts on that own thinks she’s uh got it locked in already all I see is a big old team Inova thing going on over there um boring um but I think uh boring is good

Though I I honestly um I’m giving myself props because I literally predicted every single pick that own picked and so in my mind it went exactly the way that I thought and in the end it went exactly the way that I had hoped um so we’re GNA see I’ve got lots of

Experience on my team and um I think our doubles teams are going to be amazing I already know who’s playing with who and yeah I’m ready on Missy is claiming that she pretty much telegraphed every pick you made uh are you confident that that uh she’s going to be eating those words

Soon uh you know what is the same thing is I already know in my mind who would she want to pick so that’s why I give her like respect like I know what she going to pick so I let her do her thing but you know what

The end of the day you never know what’s going to end up it you know you you never know what uh sometime the person you think is going to be good maybe not I but I only thing I know like my team I think like they they’re they they hot fire right here
