For Oh Oh Welcome to the fourth edition of the ISU skating award tonight we are here together to express our gratitude to our skaters coaches and choreographers that are making tremendous contribution to our beautiful Sport we’re really looking forward to participating in the ISU skating Awards it’s going to be a great show just means an honor for me to be nominated I’m really grateful and I’m really happy to be here at the ISU skating Awards it’s amazing well I’m super excited to be nominated it’s a huge

Honor I’m excited to see who will get all the Awards I am very happy to be nominated for the ISU skating Awards ISU Meats art Nice so let’s celebrate together for our beautiful Sports and the loving fan of fig skting thank you for joining us and enjoy the Work welcome to the ISU skating Awards coming to you live from zerich I’m Elma Smith and with me I’m so proud to present figure skating Legend and he is bouncing off the walls from excitement little bit excited C Browning in the house thank you it’s good to be here I

Am so excited this is it this is what we’ve been waiting for this show is amazing we are combining the ISU Awards with art on ice right through that wall is an ice rink and that’s where the skaters are going to be worldwide skaters they got amazing crowds the best

Skaters acrobats um we’ve got got uh ad dancers U people flying through the air and and the maybe the best is live music live music tons of top quality performers are out on that stage and we will be joining them throughout the show Dave Stewart of UR rythmics is right

Here in the building Natalie and bruglia has made her way to zerich and the two Swiss artists Mark stach and R forer what a lineup right and I have some fun if I’m a good boy they’re going to let me get on the ice a little bit and

Possibly hand some of these beautiful trophy out to the award recipients how’s that oh we’ve got a whole bunch of winners in the house tonight we have been keeping these trophies under lock and ke so no one has any idea who’s winning well I mean outside of the two

Of us we’ll be presenting eight Awards in total let’s quickly talk you through them we’ll celebrate the young talented skaters who are nominated in the best newcomer category we’ll talk about the importance of costumes in the category best costume but we will also honor those who have the backs of your

Favorite skaters with the awards for best ch ographer and Bas coach couldn’t have said better myself also we’re going to have a little bit of fun we’re going to be handing out something called the Lifetime Achievement Award which unlike the rest of the awards takes a lot

Longer than one year to win that’s for sure and then special Achievement Award is uh celebrating someone who might in future be one of those Legends who receives the lifetime achievement will also Crown the most entertaining program of the year because ensuring the fans are entertained I mean that’s the name

Of the game isn’t it Y and also the is a neat award for the skater who really promotes the sport using their skating their personality and we call that award the most valuable skater award so we’re going to have a lot of fun and look at these beautiful trophies I might

Actually just pick one up they’re actually quite heavy um and they have been engraved so I can’t show you the back of this trophy um because then I will be giving away this is the special Achievement Award winner and we will present be presenting all of these

Shortly as uh we will be Crossing to the ice in between I just wanted to check in with you Kurt before we get to the action all right I’m ready you have done it all in skating well I mean it feels like you’ve done it all sometimes right

In my back and my legs yes it feels like it what’s up is there any of these categories that you’re looking at and going oh I wish I was actually nominated for that one right now in my life or back when I was competing right now right now then definitely choreographer because I’ve

Doing a lot of work with choreography I’m with the choreographer for stars and ice in Canada this year um so to be able to have the opportunity to be rewarded for sharing your love of the sport with the athletes and creating something new for them and lifting them

I think that would be an honor to win that award and everyone has been uh ensuring that we keep these um Awards locked away because they don’t want to let out the surprise but why is it that this is such a coveted award for skaters and people in figer skating in the in

The wider presence of the sport why is this important I think it’s important to promote the sport but in to do so we need to promote Our Stars so I think that this gives us an opportunity like so many like film hockey football so many other places have this figure

Skating literally does not so it’s not about what you’ve won um in the competition Arena it’s really about um what your fans think of you what your peers think of you the media and so this Awards was a long time coming so I think that this is the first fourth time we’ve

Done it and um it’s going to just grow and grow and grow and be more important every year I absolutely love and now as promised we will cross live out to the action on the ice Luna Hendrick is in the building and she’s performing to

Heaven or hell um this is Remo for on the mic running out of my power leing starting you I try turning my back but no no matter which track it leads me back to you I can’t seem to get away does it mean I’m meant to stay is it worth the price we

Pay cuz every time we give it a try we know it’s going to ending goodbye without even knowing why I find ice we roll the dice holding on it’s going to tear us apart but a head is in as t as a heart we l go from the start like fine

Ice we roll the dice either Heaven or Hell how do you still believe that we’ll ever find peace when we lost it on the how are we still here today both of us we feel betrayed honestly we’re not okay cuz every time we give it a try we know it’s going to ending

Goodby without even knowing why like Fire and Ice we roll the dice holding on he’s going to tear us apart but a head he’s in as strong as a heart we lost comes from the stor like fire ice we roll it dice either heaven or hell is it what you

Want either heaven or hell oh wo oh wo he what you want either heaven or hell oh Wo cuz every time we give it a try you know it’s going to end in goodby without even knowing white like fire ice we roll it cuz every time we give it a try we know it’s going to end and goodby without even knowing wild like ice we

Roll it dice holding on it’s ter theart but a head isn’t strong as a heart we last goes from the start ice we either heaven or H oh so beautiful she’s so good I just love that packed Arena and seeing everyone in there having the best time now speaking of entertainment and

Entertaining performances it’s time for our first category do I get to say it yeah most entertaining program how did I do wow I mean I love how you do that I I didn’t know you had the power it’s a little trick I’ve learned oh yeah really good

So how does this work okay so this program is more about um not necessarily what jumps you do or what you’ve accomplished but more literally about what the title says entertaining so can your program bring to life um creativity musicality storytelling about also maybe the most important thing is creativity

In a new way did you bring something new okay and shall we take a look at the nominees okay let’s do it the nominees are when his coach suggested the idea that Kevin Amos skate to Bolero by Maurice Ravel he was against it he found the music overused and dull however his

Perspective changed after attending a bolero performance by Maurice beart in Paris which left him captivated collaborating with Bree M Amos brought a fiery and Innovative interpretation of Bolero to the ice and thring audiences at both of his ISU Grand Prix events in 2023 Lyla fear and LS Gibson consistently Embrace novelty and

Innovation unafraid to take risks in their performances their free dance set to the iconic Rocky theme stands out as a pioneering choice in competitive ice dance drawing inspiration from the theme’s powerful message of overcoming adversity as underdogs the duo establishes a profound connection with the audience their daring approach to

The program has earned it a special place as a crowd favorite wherever the dancers perform it collaborating closely with choreographer benoa risho Adam Shia Hima consistently seeks innovation their creative exploration for this season’s free skating resulted in a compelling narrative a story of a man trying to write his diary experiencing

Moments of desperation when things don’t work out and ultimately finding a way to overcome obstacles the Duo’s commitment to storytelling and uniqueness infuses their performance with a captivating and dynamic quality nice you know what I take away from that it’s interesting that you skaters do not just take inspiration

From other skating not just the skating world but um ballet um music movies art and uh and bring that through the work with the choreographer and create something that has inspired them if the skater isn’t inspired then they’re not going to transition that to the judges into the audience and I guess when

You’re when you’re trying to make something really entertaining you also need to consider who your audience is and what they’re exposed to and the influences that they see and listen to and compare so you’re stepping into that entertainment space going okay this is where people are how do we push it for

Further and it’s a very different experience trying to impress a judging panel than it is an audience who have just been paid have paid money to be entertained where the judges are so critical they might be a little they might not be as excited about what your

Favorite song is yeah do you want to see want sh shall we do this are we ready to announce the winner I I still I wanted to chat to you about delayed gratification I just wanted to that note on Bolero um is that song now getting another run are

People brave enough to take it on that was Kevin Amoth um from France and he um yeah well of course Torv and Dean made it so famous back in the 80s was that and uh and I actually did a number to it and I I paid the choreographer and then

Said I’m never doing it CU I wasn’t I just I didn’t feel confident yeah I didn’t have the confidence okay let’s take a look at the winner will you tell us the winner is Adam him congratulations Adam and to benoa his choreographer as well now the reason

Adam isn’t here to receive his award right now and all he got was a little clap from the two of us is because he is actually out on the ice right now to perform accompanied by R for and this is called water gun okay H it’s like and re Applause for the [Applause] Adam we were boys play pretend AR tanks and army men hide and seek grow to be the Kings we dream where do we go we’re standing on the front line where do we go we Go I do want to be a soldier soldier I don’t want to have to play with real blood we playing now can turn around no guns no no I don’t want to be a soldier soldier I don’t want to have to play with blood we play now can’t turn around No BS there we’ve become L breaking rules nothing hurts when you B proof I remember yes I do I do and where do we go we standing on a front line where here we go we go oh I don’t want to be a soldier soldier I don’t want to have to play with real blood we

Play what it no no I want to be a soldier soldier I don’t want to have to play with real we playing now what BS we’ve Become what we’ve become what we Become what we Become playing with waterer who I’m playing with Water [Applause] Adam amazing hello everybody here in Zurich enjoying the art on I show my name is Kurt Browning and I am here on behalf of the ISU Awards you may notice that I’m carrying a something very shiny um it’s my honor to um be co-host with Elma Smith she’s backstage watching me

Right now and I’m going to have the honor of giving the first award out tonight to you Adam for the most entertaining program of the Year congratulations you deserve it thank so much what a beautiful moment and everyone who joined us here today at H stum just getting so much more bang for

Their money now let’s talk about how the winners are determined you might be looking at this going well I mean who decides so a rigorous initial online selection phase where members of the public like you and members of the media vote takes place and this year it ran

From December 11th to January jary 7th and this helped narrow down the long list of nominees to three outstanding nominees in each of the six open award categories then the 2024 ISU skating Awards selection commission took it from there so they determined the eight winners and you might say who makes up

This commission let’s meet the members of the jury who took the final decision on who is winning tonight sua Bali from France Andrew po Canada Mickey Ander Japan Laura liso Finland Brian buano USA chenlu China and those are our jury members so the interesting thing there is that all of these jury members sit together with that list that has your votes feeding into it and so the question always remains how much will those uh votes the

Public votes guide the process and then when the judges finally have the list of nominees and they take into account um all of everyone’s thoughts because they decide from the three who the person is that wins um that’s the process that happens behind the scenes that gets us

To this point so if you looked at the enter the most uh entertaining program for example looked at the nominees and thought my favorite skater isn’t in here then that’s a challenge for you ahead of the next ISU skating Awards the opportunity for you is to make sure that

You keep an eye on our social channels make sure uh that you monitor how this uh project progresses and then when the votes open you ensure that you cast your vote for your favorite skater in the category of your choice and then you could perhaps have a guiding influence

In who wins most entertaining program or best costume or best choreographer or perhaps it’s best newcomer we have eight Awards we’ve given away one of them but we have seven more categories uh to go and Kur Browning has just made his way back into our

From the ice on his skat a lot easier to stop with the ice I guess I don’t need this that’s really interesting um uh did you not win our bring our winner with you I thought you just want to meet or you want okay fine fine f Adam come on in don’t be

Shy most entertaining program congratulations Adam uh how do you feel I feel great uh and really grateful to uh everyone actually I’m really surprised but I’m really happy about all of that did you have a moment there when Kurt skated on the ice where you went

What is he doing here what is this man he has been set loose yeah actually with the the music and everything and the lights and I saw C coming like what is happening yeah we didn’t rehearse that but hey I was a bit confused to be

Honest but it was fun wow what a what a fantastic experience and what a year you’ve had yeah thank you talk to me about the highlights over the last year uh yeah actually I think the all season was a a big highlight to be honest I really enjoyed

Uh to skate from the beginning of the Season until now and I’m still enjoying to skate it’s really fun and yeah I will keep going can I ask a question I want to ask you about the process of creating that beautiful program with benoa Rish

Show and the the diary can you tell a little bit about that uh yeah so it’s a story about life um at first we hear the music from uh the notes from uh keyboard typing typing machine yes because I’m writing a story actually um and living your story yeah exactly and through the

Whole program I I’m going through a lot of different emotions and at first we hear the noise of the page getting uh frustrated yeah so at the beginning of the pr I feel a bit anger and I have a lot of frustrations and I want to

Rewrite the story to make it better and more beautiful and do quads at the same time yeah so with your acting there isn’t just Sportsman and quads but amazing acting as well how do you do both at the same time it’s hard yeah it’s hard yeah it’s hard but I try to

Keep working on that every day yeah and that’s not only drums that counts for me it’s a whole package and I really want to show that I enjoy skating you’re you’re doing a good job thank you and we enjoy watching you thank you so much for

The work that you’ve done over the last year congratulations on a phenomenal season and uh onwards and upwards from here sorry can you I I gave you good wishes for the future thank you so much okay thank you so much Adam for joining us uh Adam our most entertaining program

Winner now Adam um did you know Kurt is I mean he’s like the OG he’s been around we have proof of this it’s time to rewind the clock a bit so we have dug into the archives to 10 years ago 2014 at Art on Ice that’s not so long ago our

CT W the audiences with this Timeless routine take a look at singing in the rain this is me this is me La And Singing in the Rain [Applause] what a beautiful memory What feelings does that bring up to you any chance to wear a Good Hat any chance um you know what Singing in the Rain um I mentioned before the skaters being um inspired by movies yeah and I was doing a TV special

And they asked me this question they said if you could do anything but it was impossible what would it be and popped into my mind sitting on the couch watching singing the rain with my mom and I went that would be cool to do that

But how does it rain inside and um so that’s how that happened so the inspiration for uh skating can come from anywhere but that makes me very happy because the way I felt every time I performed it um was free like he had just fallen in love and so it’s a

Wonderful feeling to recreate on the ice that’s beautiful what’s more challenging the rain or the umbrella the umbrella oh my gosh uh I don’t know if we have time quick story The Umbrella is vicious like if you go to do a jump and if you pull

It in if the handle’s facing this way you break your nose or your teeth and then if it’s facing the other way the wrong way as you go to check out of the jump it hooks your other arm and pulls you down so I had to like go to marriage

Counselor with that umbrella just to learn how to use it okay he’s clearly still processing a lot there let’s take a look at our next category on happier thoughts best newcomer see I try to do it sometimes too yeah this is uh where we celebrate young talented single

Skaters pairs or ice dance couples competing very successfully for the first time in ISU events at the senior level in 2023 should we go for it yeah okay I love this part the nominees are 17-year-old Nina Pinera made waves in 2023 with a standout fifth place at the European championships the emerging

Star further affirmed her position securing a silver and a bronze medal on the ISU Grand Prix series and an impressive fourth place in the ISU Grand Prix final at the 2024 European championships nah added a bronze medal to her accolades marking her as a rising star in figure

Skating at just 17 Kim Pond burst onto the senior scene in 2023 clinching bronze in her debut at the European championships and securing an eighth position at her inaugural World Championships although faced with a slower start this season due to overcoming injuries Kimmy has made a resilient comeback as she triumphed at

The Swiss Nationals in December 2023 in a standout transition from the junior level 18-year-old Hannah Yoshida showcased her prowess this season the Japanese skater achieved a notable victory at the ISU Grand Prix cup of China and went on to secure the bronze medal at the ISU Grand Prix final Hannah

Has a triple axle in her Arsenal a testament to her technical prowess and continuous growth in the sport now this category is interesting because the this is not the best female newcomer of the year it’s the best newcomer of the year and we’ve got three women could been an ice dance team it

Could have been a pair man could have been anything so this is a good example of how influential I think fans are because they help drive this category down to the three nominees um and this year everyone was absolutely over or wowed and Overjoyed by the women competing that’s an

Interesting Trend tough category to be in if you’re competing then yeah you because everyone’s so good so shall we uh reveal our winner want do it in this category all right all right here we go and the uh winner is ready Hannah yosida wow congratulations Hannah Yoshida um talk

To me about Hannah’s Journey over the last year she’s she’s seemingly just absolutely like a shooting star yeah I mean in a in a way I believe I and I I hope I’m correct because we’re live on television but in the junior rank she was sixth at the Grand Prix final like

Basically last and then shooting up to third in the senior so basically she’s on it so do you want to do you want to have a you want to have a look at that okay okay she’s on the ice she can’t receive her award now but she’s out there so let’s watch her Perform I can feel an autum Breeze caught the sound of Heaven through the Trees live the moment hold it tight you never know when life will take a B So Close Your Eyes Can we Re and let me sing your tals of Love bring them down from up above oh yeah but I get Restless in the night and when it’s time to go you know that I’ll take fly oh Yeah let me Fly let me fly I think of all a heart can take and all the things that I have Overcome forever seems so far away but time for me has only just [Applause] Begun so is your Mind life can be and let me sing your T of Love bring them down from up above oh yeah but I get Restless in the night and when it’s time to go you know that I’ll take fly oh yeah let me Fly let me Fly say goodbye oo oo time to Fly don’t worry I’m steady a fire bird I’m ready I always fly home don’t worry I’m steady a fire ready I always fly home don’t worry I’m steady fire but I’m ready I fly home don’t worry I’m steady that I’m ready I let me fly let me fly O Say Goodbye time to Fly please put your hands together for our incredible dancers and our amazing skaters and Hanah Yoshida you’re Amazing it’s an honor to be back on the ice to award yes it’s me um actually you know we’ve never met hi my name is Kurt nice to meet you and um congratulations because you were the ISU Award winner for the best newcomer congratulations this is for [Applause] you Oh What a Beautiful moment I just love seeing these special memories being made in real time we are coming to you live from zerich I’m actually watching your comments on YouTube right now Jeremy called it said Nina um Bella Mills also cheered for for Hana sorry Jeremy said

Nina or Hana um congratulations uh coming here from Bella Mills also going Hana um it’s really interesting to see the comments Yolanda says women skaters have been winning this award for a while now so if you are feeling that you’d like some men nominated in this category then take your opportunity and

Participate in that public vote next time uh you have the opportunity just seeing loads of people uh loving the performances cheering on their favorites um it’s beautiful to see all of these uh messages from you and uh give us your give us your feedback oh here’s Hana let’s hear from

Her good over to you oh it’s us already live television don’t you love it okay I am here and like I said we just met for the first time but what a fun way to meet you um so I have a few questions okay um the first is when you skate you

Are so you’re only 18 years old but when you perform you are so good how do you feel on the ice when you skate cuz you look like you have so much fun both short short program and long program and the characteristic is so different so it was difficult for me but I

Concentrated in practice and now I am able to perform from my heart and like feel the music from your heart a you’re going to make me cry okay so also when you skate you’re not just acting but you’re using your eyes you’re not afraid to look at the audience and to look at

The judges um does that give you confidence or are you look like you are an actress uh I like competitions more than practice so I like to be seen by the judges and audience so I enjoy the competition with the audience oh my gosh can you imagine skaters at home if you

Liked competition more than practice how great that would be one last question about your triple axle I love the triple axle um when you skate into it I see like a little smile you you love this is this your favorite jump yes yes for sure and do you think maybe you’ll ever do

Two triple axles in the long program I would like to but I first I want to land both in the short program and the long program right on anybody you want to say hi to at home hi well congratulations you’re amazing and just the best of future in

In everything you’re doing okay well good luck I don’t want you to make you drop your trophy good luck thank you cool back to you she is just the cutest isn’t she and uh it’s brilliant seeing her per pering to an audience here in Zurich and exactly what Kurt said there her love

For performance and her pure enjoyment the fact that she loves engaging with audiences looking at them and really making contact is what does make Hannah yosida stand out now Kurt’s a busy man I mean everyone here knows him and is excited to see him again because he’s

Just one of the nicest people uh so we’re going to leave him out there in the passage uh Kurt have you found someone to chat to I heard you’ve got Jordan with you I am standing beside pound-for-pound the best skater in the planet one of my favorites Mr Jason Brown Jason you’re

Amazing um quickly you’re competing this year and doing shows all around the world how are you doing that well I grew up watching you do pro competitions those don’t exist anymore and this is kind of my own way of kind of carving my own path navigating that um but it’s

Been really really really fun does it help or hinder I think it’s a mix of both to be honest it you have to find your own balance which is hard as you know but it’s been cool to see the competitive side of the sport and the training help the performances in shows

And the shows helping me push and get comfortable out in a in front of audiences for the competition there’s a very cool story about a trophy that Paul Wy the Olympic silver medalist gave you can you quickly tell us about that because I know you got to get on the ice

Yeah absolutely it’s oh my gosh it’s insane so rri SAA um recognized dick button by passing along this Trophy and Dick button passed it along to Misha petkovich and Misha passed it along to Paul Wy who now passed it along to me so would be part of that Legacy of

Legends honestly Kurt I’m still processing it but this trophy has found a great home and I’m curious to see who you’ll pass it along to some way speaking of passing along you probably have a little work to do so off you go out on the that’s Jason Brown looking at him

Go enjoy one of my favorite skaters ever Mr Jason Brown come with me and you’ll be in a world of your Imagination take a look and you See into your Imagination I thought I saw a man B to life he was warm he came around like he was dignified he showed me what it was to cry why you couldn’t be that man adore you don’t seem to know seem to care what your heart is for well I don’t know him anymore

There’s nothing where used to lie my conversation HS from dry that’s what’s going on nothing’s fine I’m I’m my let F this is how I feel I’m call and I’m ashamed lying naked on the floor lotion never Chang into something real I’m wide awake and I can see the perfect sky is

Turn you’re a little late I’m already To So I guess the fortune tell Right I should have seen just what was there and not some Holy Light but you cow beneath my veins and now well I don’t care I have no look I don’t miss it all that much there’s just so many things that I can’t touch and turn I’m a

Light of fi this is how I feel and I am sh Ling Chang into something real I’m wide awake and I can see the perfect SK is turn here a little I’m already to There’s where I used to Li my inspiration has R dry sing it well that’s what’s going on nothing it’s fine I turn I’m a light of F this is how I feel sh never Chang something I’m wide awake and I can see the perfect

Is I’m a l of F this is how I feel cold and I’m maam broken on enough fall you’re a little late I’m already to so o yeah o yeah oh yeah oh yeah oh yeah oh Yeah Jason Brown ladies and gentlemen I mean I’m serious one of the best skaters of all time all time like his his way of working the blade and his upper body over the blade and and brings the music to life and he’s I’m jealous y I’m just

Going to put it out there what an absolute honor being able uh to watch these performances and also honor these great people of the sport and bruglia Tor did you know fun fact most played song in Australia of all time of all time of all time not the bgs like of all

Time not walting Matilda that one very well done that’s good that’s fun little knitten tidbit random little music facts I’ll just keep them coming so we move on to the next category I I’m ready here we go ready best coach best coach now this is a really important category here we

Honor coaches who delivered professional an efficient work and achieved outstanding results in 2023 worth one or several single skaters or pairs or dance couples yeah and this is a fun moment because they don’t get as much attention as those people at Center eyes so let’s take a look at who the nominees Are M Hamada a former competitive figure skater transitioned to coaching after completing her career and studies currently based at the kinosha Academy in uji Japan she has cultivated a reputation for nurturing top tier Talent among her noteworthy students are ISU World Junior Champion Mao shimata ISU Grand Prix final bronze medalist Hana

Yoshida and the accomplished 2023 ISU four continents bronze medalist Mona Chiba Hamada’s dedication and expertise continue to shape the future of figure skating through coaching endeavors two-time ISU world champion and 2006 Olympic silver medalist Stefan lomel is renowned for his artistic prowess and consistent execution of a quadruple too

While still captivating audiences and shows he primarily serves as a coach and choreographer at the skating School of Switzerland in champi which he founded in 2014 lel’s dedication extends to shaping the future of skating through notable students like sha Uno Dennis vasilev and koshiro shimar his second ISU skating Awards nomination in the

Coaching category reflects his enduring impact on the sport with over four Decades of coaching experience sonoko Nano located in coob Japan has left an indelible mark on figure skating her notable achievements include guiding longtime student kayori Sakamoto to Olympic bronze and the world title in both 2022 and 2023 as well as

Men entering my Miada and clenching two four continents titles and the prestigious ISU Grand Prix final gold in 2023 tatsuya tuoy is also among her proteges what a tough job uh both coaching but also narrowing that category down to a winner is a massive challenge uh but congratulations to our

Winner in the category best coach this year go for it m Hamada from Japan congratulations M yeah we’re in charge of clapping for her because she couldn’t be here right now but she did make a little video and with the magic of my fingers I’m going to let you watch it right

Now I never expected to be chosen it is a great honor to be award as best coach I’m thankful to be everyone who has supported me my dream dream didn’t come through as a scater but my students make my dreams come true I hope to keep

Improving myself as a coach and as a person thank you oh that’s pretty sweet I hope to keep improving myself as a coach and a person good words nice words values Run Deep now um you might have noticed that uh our set is losing some of the shiny

I mean he just keeps handing out all of our beautiful trophies here on set but because Mia isn’t here best coach will just hang out with us for the rest of the night we we’ll keep it as a souvenir we’ll get it to her we’ll get it to her

We’ll make sure it gets there safely talk to me about the art of being a great coach because it’s so much more than just the technical right I would say it starts there you know because you need that base for the big jumps and

Spins and and how to get the job done um but it doesn’t have to be there in fact most coaches of course were former skaters themselves that does make sense my coach for example Michael uranic he was an ice dancer and yet he taught me

How to do quads so the jumps so that’s a kind of an interesting relationship and so it wasn’t really the technical that I got from Michael as much I think a little bit more he knew how to drive this horse he knew how to get the best

Out of me so when we got to competition Michael knew not to ask me to focus not to run through my programs he knew to get me involved with the lights and the audience and the pretty girls and whatever else could distract me so that

I was involved in the moment and then I went out there and performed so he knew me and that’s why he was my fantastic coach that’s really interesting so the point is to meet your athlete where they are and really find the the the key that unlocks their performance and their

Ability to and you have to be a two-person coach you have to be able to do two things get them day to day through the grind the grind of growing and maturing and getting new Talent uh new technical ability and then in the last moment knowing what to say that day

Cuz what you said yesterday might not work today because you’re different so being a coach is tough really tough job it’s definitely one part technical skill and as you say experience of having been there yourself a lot of the time and being able to apply that really well but

Also performance psychology and I’m sure there are so many coaches watching this kind of paying close attention to what you’re saying is there anything is there anything that this award is going to do for M’s Journey like being a crowned as the best coach at this stage what

Significance a great question I’m hoping it gives her confidence um you know what and and to being acknowledged by your peers and by the fans and stuff like that that’s it’s it’s a nice step but like as you heard her message she’s like I just want to keep improving and so she

Wants to be ready for the next talent that comes along also she also says I don’t mind if they’re a world champion or if they’re just 5 years old learning at Walt jump she treats them all the same I’ve heard her say that in an interview and I like that’s also pretty

Cool amazing now last year here at the ISU skating Awards we spent a little time with GM ceron and Gabriella Papadakis on the show of course they were nominated most valuable skater and won most entertaining program both in 23 and in 2020 actually and they’re back so

Should we go yeah where are we going to the ice yeah let’s let’s watch them I have my magic fingers again let’s go to the ice and [Applause] watch There’s no sign under the gate and there’s mud on your face don’t you think it’s time we reinvestigate the situation put some fruit on your you forgotten how it started so close your eyes and think all the bubbles of the love we made [Applause] and it’s too late oh don’t come crawling and love what a b while I see you Fall got a birs in my head and my flowers are dead I can’t figure out where to rectify this situation I don’t believe what you said you forgotten how it started so close your eyes and think of all the bubbles of the love we made And it’s too late oh don’t come crawling and you laugh my what a big when I see you Fall I could s like a be so careful how you treat me baby I don’t think I’ll accept your sorry invitation just close the door as you leave you forgotten how it started so close your eyes and think of all the bubbles of the love we made and You it’s too Late oh don’t come and You well I see you falling and you cry over me I can’t wait cuz I feel you and You’re want a Ohing yeah yeah Yeah yeah yeah Yeah [Applause] oh yeah yeah Fox office that was great oh I I was chatting to Jason Brown last night and he was just gushing about Natalie and brugia saying saying how amazing she is and how engaged she is in the skating and how she really wants to celebrate the performers out on the ice

While she’s performing and you can really see that it seems like she’s very sharing of the spotlight you know like and but also I’ve been doing this for a long time as you mentioned and um so I’ve skated probably 20 times to live performers she more than any other

Performer I’ve ever seen perform live on the stage while the skater skating interacts with the skaters and it really adds an element of Tru truth to what’s happening so there’s that that um connection is made she’s just awesome she does awesome and then talk to me about the technicality of that table out

On the ice with him as well how do we get the table to behave the way it needs to behave when it’s moving like that yeah the first thing will it hold you up the second thing the the feet can’t catch on a rut that already exists from

Some previous skater and stop dead so the feet have to be able to slide over those little holes so that’s the technical aspect but both mostly when it comes time to training it when you have a prop it could be just a hat or a scarf or anything you have to learn the

Program and then you have to teach it to the scarf or the hat or the table and so you have to find out all the things that can go wrong with the prop to learn how to recover in the moment oh my so you really have to practice a lot so I when

I work with skaters I’m like you have to you have to teach the prop as well um you know kind of a joke but it’s true it’s true and uh the hat isn’t just for show that’s why he’s got all these magic fingers things going around and making

Sure things appear this old for one of my numbers and it became one my favorite hats and it’s a great hat and we’ll ensure that you have many more opportunities to keep on wearing it now uh we are going to look at the next category and this is genuinely one of my

Favorites okay really yeah oh okay G was I on time oo most valuable skater I’m going to go home and expect my children to do it I asked when I do that it’s not going to happen all right most valuable skater why your favorite I think it’s a really interesting category that honors

Skaters for being being participatory agents in this Sport and how it grows and how it develops a bit like how Taylor Swift has made so many more people watch the Super Bowl today you know it’s that impact that you can have by crossing your sport over into the

Mainstream using the platform you have so we’re celebrating great competition Seasons being delivered but also skaters who create digital and social media content and really stimulate the interest and the fan engagement in figure skate yeah I wouldn’t have gotten one vote from anybody I’m so bad on my

Twitter gram insta Tick Tock or whatever it is um so yeah so I H understand but because the sport needs promoting you might seem selfs serving a little bit to do that but we need our Stars to lead us and so you know when you got Johnny wear

Or anybody doing stuff like that and they’re out there it’s helping the sport I have uh some video evidence of what Kur Browning is like behind the scenes that I might be putting out there and then I’ll I’ll give you a collab opportunity okay and you can you can

I’ll try to I’ll get someone to help me click the right but there we go okay let’s take a look at the nominees in the category most valuable skater at just 19 Ilia Malin quickly became one of the most popular skaters and in 2022 he engraved his name in

Figure skating history as the first and sole skater to successfully perform a quadruple axle in competition with an impressive Instagram following of 127,000 Elia engages fans globally Beyond his on Ice achievements he relentlessly pushes the boundaries of the sport leaving an indelible mark on the international skating Community kyi Sakamoto a two-time world

The on the carpet uh what’s he got to say when I was on the ice with the quad God Mr Ilia malinin who is the winner oh oh we give giving it away already didn’t we no no I take it back I take it back

On live TV um okay so you can’t take anything okay IL and I were hanging out we were taking pictures because um Pat my back a bit I was the first person to get the the chance to do the quad I was represented as the first person or given

That honor and and because the Quad Axle was the last jump that we could quad in the rules he was the last person to land the quad so we’re kind of bookending the Journey of the quad and which was kind of a neat moment a yeah kind of neat and

By the way he won so there you go well I mean this h ly is such a great moment to honor him and his contribution to the sport but also the way he keeps people watching and keeps wo audiences everywhere he goes with his with his model good looks well I mean those

Definitely don’t hurt it is a performance art after all um but we he’s on the ice soon yeah so I figured you’re still wearing your skates so are you just going to take um his trophy out to him on the ice again again and he’s

Performing um to Mar St he’s going to be singing steamy windows and talk about props wait till you see this one so enjoy the show and I’ll see you on the Ice all right sir get come on let’s make some Noise I was thinking about talking the other night we was out on the back road me and my baby was just getting right our system go over Radio we must s on the back seat waking up the L time steaming window theil steaming window coming from a Body you can wind them down with a woman all night with good in but the something got a on a back Ro brings back the Deep Ste Window a Ste window coming from the body steing window Ain nobody can see stey window coming from the Body No coming from the back door it makes a a little bit closer good things Happen steing Window ability steing window coming from the Body all right [Applause] IIA give him a [Applause] hell you did it again man right [Applause] out you know what that music means don’t You um Everybody uh as you can see on the banners most valuable skater that ISU award goes to the skater who is promoting the sport using their platform and um all their fans and and their personality and their quad jumps uh that first jump in the program was a quad the

One he landed the best and it made it look so easy maybe you’re making it look too easy um congratulations on your second ISU award amazing right on enjoy congratulations to Ilia Malin and I’m also loving seeing on that ashisu skating Awards 2024 uh the harmonica

Getting a bit of love m now the music is a big part of the show and uh as on the topic of the music and the songs that you will be hearing next there is a tribute this year in a big part of the show to Tina Turner because Switzerland

And indeed Zurich was her home base for the latter part of her life here’s Aro with another Tina Turner head this time in partnership with skaters Alexa Kum and Brandon Frasier He hold of home from D can make the same mistake this time we are the children the last generation we are the ones they left behind and I wonder when we are ever going to change living on fear till Nothing we don’t need not a hero we don’t need to Mo away all we want is let be on the Door looking for Something we can rely on there must be something better out there oh love and Compassion it is coming all as our castles building and I wonder when we are ever going to change leaving under the fear till nothing else all the children say We Don’t Need Another Hero we don’t need to Mo away all we want is that be thunder door so what do we do with

Li leave only a we story like a li or end in the dark Give It All We Don’t Need A not a hero we don’t need to Mo away oh all we want is that be thunder Door and for those who wanted to know why they didn’t hear from Ilia we can’t have chats out on the ice but we gather everyone here in the back passages around our stage and we’ll be chatting uh to more of your favorite skaters shortly but now from kman Fraser to the

Turbo twins here’s Private Dancer another Tina Turner hit per performed by the aoi band skaters and dancers if the price is right your pocket TI but you a good Oh All the men come in this place and the men are all the same you don’t look at the faces and you don’t ask the Nam you don’t think of them as human you don’t think of them at all you keep your mind on theing do you like it keep your eyes on the

How does it feel uh second I you word congratulations it just feels incredible I mean I was not expecting this to happen I’m just a loss at words right now cool all right then let’s uh find some words uh if you uh are thinking uh

Today I want to talk to my fans I just don’t I’m not very good at the social media thing but you are really into it and and good with it and you interact with your fans how is that important and does it help you when you’re training oh

Yeah it definitely helps a lot you know when I perform or skate on the ice and post on social media a lot of the fans noticed that and they notice the appreciation that you know we’re looking we’re looking for you know their thoughts you know their feedback on

Anything so it’s just really means a lot that we’re kind of including them in what we do yeah and the journey along the way do you ever include things like me actually I know you do your training and stuff like that yeah no most definitely I always do a lot of training

Videos just fun silly videos on the ice it’s just you know to really get that personality side of me and not just how people see me at competition you know always focused and tunneled in right on my favorite place place on the ice is doing footwork yours is about three and

A half or 4 feet above the ice isn’t it uh yeah definitely but also sometimes depends on the day some days I like to do a lot of spins some days I like to play around with new tricks some some days like to play around with you know

Quick footwork or just you know just different step things like that yeah his tricks are unbelievable okay you are aot awesome this is the quad God and I’m throwing back to Elma congratulations thank you thank you so much Kurt and Ilia now if you’ve just joined us well

You’ve missed four of the awards already but the good news is we have four more to go best choreographer best costume best newcomer Lifetime Achievement and special achievement these are all still coming up uh Kurt just keeps on bumping into great skaters I hear that he’s over

There now is it oh it’s Papadakis and cesarone let’s hear from them hey everyone on YouTube look who I caught backstage they’re warming up and I take them from them Gabby and Gom I’m so glad you don’t have your skates on right now and my neck would be sore okay guys want

To ask you a quick question about the ISU Awards and what you think that they uh bring to light for not only the fans but also the skaters um I think it’s pretty wonderful to have uh the capacity to acknowledge you know all of the talented people that

Work in the world world of figure skating and not just the skaters obviously they’re a big part of what’s going on and what makes the sport alive but there’s just so many different actors that take a part in uh athlete successes like our choreographers our

Coaches uh you know just like it takes a village as we say to to get to to the top and I think it’s it’s um it’s just great to be able to have a ceremony and to be able to celebrate those people I agree the choreographers don’t get

Enough credit the coaches don’t get to wear the sequins and the fans what do you think they learn about us the skater well you the skaters I just threw myself in there during the the awards you mean the awards yeah I think yeah I think it’s great because I think the

Competitions rewards uh you know Artistry and and technicality but it’s I think it’s great also to yeah I mean to shed light on who’s behind all of the hard work and also to reward skaters who may not have had the best results but who had um choreograph or programs or

Per performances who really um really made skating interesting even if they didn’t get medals so I think that’s uh because because you know they’re as much part as uh why we enjoy figure skating as the one who have Metals so I think it’s it’s amazing that um we have that

Coming from you I’m sure that means a lot to them quick question got a little bit of time left there’s a third actor on the ice in one of your performances a table um how did that happen I love props so who want who wants this question

Um yeah we haven’t really played with props that much and we had prepared this uh uh this exhibition just for ardan I we had another number that I think the production really liked and they asked us to adapt it to this live uh song so we Rec choreographed it to to Really

Make it match the you know the the song and it’s it’s pretty great it’s it’s hard at first to have that uh third thing on the eyes that you have to be really careful about sometimes but I loved it I I I want more of it all right

So I’m going to let you guys go and I’m going to throw it out into the universe and see who catches it it’s me I get to catch it uh I can’t catch anything but I can catch a hint now next up we get to present the wait for a special

Achievement Award this is really really important because it honors a skater who makes history by successfully performing a new or special or unique element or who achieves something extraordinary at an ISU event and really pushes the boundaries of the sport setting new standards now Kurt um when we started

Talking about how we would like to present this award said oh I have an idea he’s recruited the help and his helper thinks that she’s there to announce the winner of Best choreography only she’s not she’s actually the winner over to you Kurt all right thanks Elma I am here I

Have the best well I’ll let you do it I’ll let I’ll let you do it there’s there’s an important name in here um so I got Dan here and she’s going to help me reveal the next award you ready go I made it easy to open good luck thank you

See it right here so I’m going to take you around the corner to a TV everyone at home gets to watch it from the comfort of their couch you ready let’s go okay okay Deana stellato dudek’s figure skating journey is a tale of resilience embracing both the brevity and

Unpredictability of the sport at just 15 she claimed the silver medal at the 2000 World Junior Championships only to retire less than a year later due to a hip injury transitioning into a non-skating life she worked a regular job and married however 16 years after her World Junior success she made a

Remarkable comeback as a pear skater with Maxim Des shamp having just turned 40 Deanna has a plethora of Titles since her comeback including two-time Canadian Champion an ISU Grand Prix final and ISU four continents medalist and a three-time ISU Grand Prix champion in acknowledgement of her exceptional determination trailblazing impact and

Just for doing something that I love um and I just want to make sure I think my partner Maxim uh who took a chance on a 35-year-old woman with a dream and uh together we’re doing amazing things if you could go back and tell 15-year-old

Di anything what would you say to her oh I would tell her to keep going then not stop and come back at 40 it would be much easier I I I’m speechless a little bit myself because I get to uh work with you and we get home to Canada and and as I

Said I just feel uh like the your story your backstory and your drive and your commitment to our Sport and the love of it and the fact that you saw chance tell the tiny bit a little bit of the story quickly about how you came back um uh

Well I was at a work Retreat a job I was very happy with and we were just reading some note cards around the table at lunch like a fun exercise um to do with your uh friends and your co-workers to get to know them a little bit better and

The card that I happened to pick up was what would you do if you knew you couldn’t fail and I just immediately said oh I’d win an Olympic gold medal and I hadn’t skated in 16 years I mean nothing like zero skating so um I thought about it for 2 weeks because I

Thought there must be something deep inside of me that still has the desire to do this um so I asked my mom for my 16-year-old boots and blades and started the Journey of trying to get all of my jumps back and um then was suggested I do Pairs and

Started to learn pair skating and absolutely loved it um and the journey just kept on going from there thank you for encouraging people to keep on dreaming and keep on reaching higher and to believe and to stick at it it’s absolutely inspirational being here with you congratulations this is so welld

Chatted to Kurt about Brian yesterday and he told me um that as he mentioned now Brian was his mom’s favorite skater and uh when uh she wasn’t all that well he invited her to a performance that they were doing together um and Brian did his routine um

And Kurt’s mom was obviously there for every moment of it um he performed and it made made her feel like she was the center of his attention um and at the end of the per performance uh waved at her and blew her a kiss um and when

Telling that story could even got a little emotional it was clear that this was a deeply personal moment uh but also a way uh in which Brian is aware of the power that when you’re such a successful figure skater the power that you hold to inspire people to reach them uh to

Motivate them and uh to make people feel more closely connected and uh firm collaborators in the the passion for the sport let’s see if Kurt has made his way to the backstage area yet because that is where he is standing by to have a little conversation with Brian over to

You could thank you it was hard to get here because everyone wants to congratulate you as do I um we’ve had a lot of moments together making the world Olympic team with you in 88 was was so great um listen this is your moment it

Was a long journey to get to this uh trophy tell us a little story about your life as a skater well you know when you think about Lifetime Achievement and this you know like so many things kind of come to mind and I of course you think

About some of those clips that they show from the actual skating and the competing and that was all fine and great and but I was also um a judge in skating I I yeah I did that so I kind of know that side of it I um was a

Performer and got to perform with you and many others uh I directed a lot of shows and choreographed a lot of shows so I I wore a lot of hats and uh and then it got into the coaching so at first when I kind of went oh that’s nice

I’m getting this award and you know maybe because of my skating and then I started thinking about all the stuff that I did and I’m like wow I’ve done a lot and I did everything with passion you know maybe that’s why this is here oh Brian you’re being humble actually a

Little bit but D you know what I think that the the the lineage of your uh legendary status goes all the way back to when you were a little kid doing that triple axle and you basically kind of broke the mold of the expectation of Skating World when you did that and

Everyone my age patterned our triple Axel after you y it is straight you got to get the classic backhand there right that was a big moment for the sport that was a really big moment I did it actually in um for the first time I did

It as a junior when I won juniors in 1979 I think in thunderbay Ontario so I remind some of my skaters now is like you know that was 45 years ago or more it’ll be 40 years from the Olympics in uh sio because I’m doing a piece uh next

Week in New York City with uh Scott Hamilton and and Joseph sabovic to Mark the 40y year anniversary so it really is amazing so I guess 10 years from now we’ll be marking the 50th there’s so many names in in your back of your mind right now in this emotional moment um

But if you could uh think if I wanted to well ion I won’t I won’t do that to you but if you could be a skater or a coach or a a builder what do you think is the most important to you personally oh were so say

Skater by Donald Jackson was the skater that helped me a lot and and I looked up to him as a as a as a youngster and he came and did our skating show uh up in Midland in sometime in the late 60s I guess and I just remember just being in

Awe over him and I still see him from time to time and I’m still grateful for what he did for me because he was so nice to me as a young kind of budding athlete skater someone who loved to skate gate and I kind of took that with

Me every time I went to do a show whether it was a club show or it was a stars and ice or something a meet and greet and somebody wanted to come up and talk to me about their own skating at you know an 8-year-old you know you take

The time and you look them in the eye and you ask them questions and and you take a real interest in in in their passion yeah you were a leader for me and a hero for me I can remember when Michael slip Chuck and I did our first

Side by-side double axles with Brian orer in a show and that was an amazing moment for me personally and I think you will be inspiring so many people with your coaching and your history but also with this award really amazing I’m humbled and and grateful and I think you

Know the isus are they’re they’re doing some great things and and I think you know we’re kind of moving along with the times and changing and evolving and it’s really pretty special congratulations Brian back to you Elma this is Brian orer a I love the Bromance going on over

Why don’t you just take that microphone yes show us around the back here should we go on a little tour you you guys want to come with me I’m going to go right behind that camera because what uh where’s my where’s my camera there you are

Hi this is where the skater like to hang out literally right behind our cameras elma’s right over there and this is like the hangout the chill out Zone the eat banana Zone the uh catchup on your email Zone uh these are like where olyp CH just kind of cruise future Champions who

Knows be right all right let’s go let’s go let’s go Liz it going that way is where all the carts that interrupt the show come from we don’t know what they bring like food and stuff like that there’s a little ramp here so be careful

Um right on so good so uh you know not as exciting but necessary we got some food we got some skaters we got live singers here so yeah right on just say hi to everyone we’re on on YouTube thank you for the music so um skaters just descend beautifully down

These stairs without falling somehow with their skates on and around the corner are all their dressing rooms so we never oh good very elegant nice this cast is absolutely huge there’s so many dancers so many uh Flyers singers of course skaters um Mr Brian orer is right over there getting interviewed by

Tatiana big huge moment for him like doing this and um you we’re live on YouTube again yay what’s is this your order of Canada it’s is oh of course perfect timing to wear you should be wearing yours um I yeah I thought it was in Europe so I

Thought I wouldn’t wear it we are everywhere yeah all right oh look over there there’s Dave Stewart see hi hi Dave that was Dave Stewart this is backstage there’s the singer this is amazing so we’re all cool we’re trying to be cool you know we got Superstars

Walking around there’s Ilia qu God are you going to skate again yeah okay sounds good good luck thank you you’re going to do more quads yeah yeah he does quads like it’s more Bing okay right sorry about that right through well this is exciting there is a lot of action going there’s musicians

Going on right through that door is the actual show so is there’s no more skaters around there’s Adam chilling out with some coffee all right so let’s go take a quick peek it’s going to get really loud I’m not sure if you can hear me anymore but this is it watch your Step all Right Every single night in Z five shows sold out crowd so exciting beautiful big set you can see Deanna and Max are standing right over there they’re doing that free skate thing where they’re just bouncing up and down there’s always a bubbling energy backstage when it’s going to be your

Turn to skate and you’re hearing the show but you’re only focused on your Job can we go over there or is it too far so have a quick peek maybe you can get a better look at them they’re wearing black I can’t even see Them this is the boss is his name is Oliver Herer he used to compete against me now he runs this whole thing anyways pretty soon they’re going to finish and Deana and Max are going to step on the ice and they get an idea of the energy backstage a lot of

Movement a lot of movement parts and we’re doing it all live for you guys at home thanks for tuning in way Way all right guys good luck you guys thank you good luck have a good skate have a good skate all right that’s I’m going to go back to Studio back they are I got to Go all right I think there’s still you know quad God right over there come on quad God all right I’m back I’m back do you know this feels like an immersive video game why I just have to ask you one that was exciting that was exciting

Why do you feel the need to run um cuz in my ear we have a voice vogg voice of God and he said get back to Elm so I’m back oh wow thank you miss you it’s good to have you I was really just enjoying that behind the scenes uh look at that

Whole area next to the I I got I got a flush of energy when Dave Stewart walked by from from the rhythmics I I was like literally Little Star Struck he has been loitering in that doorway maybe a little bit just a little just you know just

Hanging just you know on his phone waiting has anyone seen Dave I an autograph um so Dave if if you are streaming this on YouTube backstage please um our friend here big fan he bought one of the 100 million albums the D Stewart and the aric and I still wish

I had it I wonder where that album is I a record player again um so Dave do you know has won a Grammy a Golden Globe and then list of Awards as long as your arms literally Iva Nell and the whole Bank shoot no it’s it’s how music can become

A part of who you are cuz when I hear that music I I’m a younger version of myself like it’s time travel and so it’s a I think music does that for people oh that’s a great way of putting it it’s so accurate um I think it’s time for us to

Go back to the ice back to the ice for When a Man Loves a Woman with Dean and Max a man War out can’t keep his mind on nothing else he changed the world for the good thing he’s Found if she’s mad he can’t see it she can do no wrong turn his back on his best friend if you put her down Well this man you were My and I gave you everything I trying to hold on to you I can’t go on baby please don’t treat me [Applause] bad when a man a out you give her everything try to hold on to what he’s got if she’s bad he can’t see it no she can do no wrong loving eyes can never see well this man loves you My and I gave you everything I try to hold on to you I can’t go on bab please don’t treat me [Applause] B when a man l a Woman he gave her everything he has trying to hold on to what he’s got yes this man let you warm out and I gave you everything I had trying to hold on [Applause] what she looks very composed there hey well considering how emotional she was when she won her award she maybe she used it she used that emotion in that number professional I love that so next up we’re going to be talking costumes and we have seen some Sensational

Costumes out here I really enjoy can I do it yeah okay best I’m going to so miss that when it’s gone I really enjoy this category cuz I mean I don’t like dressing up it was that loud sorry I don’t like dressing up or anything it’s not like I like shiny

Things at all and I haven’t used a figure skating event to wear every sequin on on Earth um but I think the expression the job that a costume has in the sport um is just so compelling and so interesting I mean you’ve heard uh Indiana Jones talk about you know until

He puts the Hat on he’s not the character yeah and I’ve seen um you know that that happened for actors but it it does happen for skaters too because you’re practicing in a cold rink with no audience and when you start to get that costume and you put it on you start

Feeling what it’s going to be really like and and getting into the character feeling more important and presented you know and it’s important also the costume has to function it can’t just look good it’s got to function especially when like when Diana is up in the air and Max

Has to catch her if the costume is in the way it’s not only going to give problems and the judges are going to notice it could be dangerous so the costume maybe maybe Gabby could pull that off potentially problematic yeah so there’s a lot more to think about than

Just how does it look um how has it changed what is the way in which costumes have innovated over the last few years you’re asking me um you’re actually asking me okay the answer is I don’t know the real answer might be something along the lines of probably

The material the material has changed over the years the ability to have different Fabrics have Fabrics made for you um but also I can remember my skating pants were like this thick they were so thick and heavy and nowadays they’re they’re much lighter people have fabric made for them yeah like um actual

Patterns made and so that they can I know it’s fancy I had never have but I go to my closet you want to see who the nominees are I’m wearing my costume right now this is this Hat’s actually from one of my cost the nominees are I dancers Madison chalk and Evan

Bates grasp the importance of making a striking first impression when they Glide onto the ice their costumes for the 2023 24 season seamlessly embody their free dance concept time drawing inspiration from Salvador Dolly’s renowned painting the Persistence of memory or the melting clock designing costumes is one of Madison’s favorite parts of the

Season in the first half of the 2023 24 season Hane Le’s siren’s short program costume perfectly embodied the essence of a mermaid in the glistening ocean waters crafted by designer Yi Kim from Edge Plus this costume not only facilitates the execution of challenging jumps and Spins but also captivates with its thematic

Precision Luna Hendrick and her team chose an upbeat disco style of music with break my soul the Queen’s Remix by Beyonce and Madonna hendrix’s along cider coach and brother yorck and choreographer Adam soia scoured the internet for costume ideas the result is a striking black and silver Ensemble

That perfectly complements the energy of Luna’s performance amazing costumes your your favorite category maybe I have to say I really enjoy this one I feel like it’s so figure skating that we have a best costume category and I’m here for all of it but before we tell you who the winner

Is I just want to show you this little conversation that our Kurt had a little earlier um we did it before the show started because president Kim from the ISU is a busy busy man you heard from him right at the start but here’s Co with cornering him H at our special deep

Meaningful conversation area in the passage backstage it’s an honor for me to be with this man right here this is President jul Kim and he is in charge he’s the boss this is this is where it all goes to right here this man H from the international skating unit the ISU

Mr ISU and it’s an honor to speak to you no it’s it’s an honor to have you as our host because you are the fourth time world championship winner and the recipient of our lifetime achievement uh at the yeah award at the first edition so it’s it’s great to have you it’s only

Appropriate that you are here hosting us thank you very much that coming from you that means a lot um so here we are we’re at Art on Ice in case you haven’t noticed and the ISU skating awards are running in conjunction with this amazing show um having the a live audience being

Able to give an award to a a recipient on the ice in front of live people live people on YouTube it’s really special and um I’m I’m loving it what tell me how it feels from your point of view no no it’s so exciting to to to celebrate

Our beautiful Sports of figure skating uh in conjunction with a beautiful I show uh the so the first two Edition this is actually the four edition of the IC award first two were only on digital because it happened during the co period last year was a hybrid first time we did

It we uh combined we put forces with the the arch on I was successful but this Force Edition will be be even more greater because it’s our second time we have more experience uh so it would be a fantastic award cool and I love because other sports like football and hockey

And soccer or football as we say yeah it’s um they they get dressed up and the fans get to see the athletes um but in this situation they get to see them perform and then be handed uh an award and also a chance to honor the people

Who have worked so hard and recognize them not just with the metal but with like votes from real fans at home right no it is a it’s very exciting for us because it’s a celebration for the whole figure skating Community uh we always appreciate the beautiful performances of

Our athletes skaters but behind them supporting them are the coaches and choreographers everybody has to support the athletes to make them start and we get to celebrate and show our appreciation for the people that are working behind the scene as well as the as well as the stars on the ice that’s

Right yeah everybody at Center Ice gets the credit the coaches are involved and the choreographers so quick question just for fun just for fun you know there’s eight categories which is your favorite category mine mine is best hair and I think you might win it um but honestly what’s your favorite category

Uh you know I can tell you but I have to kill you and kill the camera a perfect politician thank you very much thank you yeah keep up the good work all right thanks just to clarify he made that up there is no best hair category because

Obviously um I would have been a nominee as well uh can you tell us I have here who wins Basse costume this is this is the person it’s it’s oh it’s written right on the back it’s you ready it’s Luna Hendrick congratulations Luna hendris I I think it’s important I need

To go give this to her give get some skates on she’s out on the ice let’s go watch over for we’re going to play lots of your rhythmic songs one after the other so that everybody has a very emotional but good time [Applause] Lang love slips from all my lover tongue cooler than ice cream and warm than the sun Dum Hearts get broken just like CH C the language of love let be broken all the around but there’s just one thing just one there just one that I really need to know who’s that

Wearing there the top half is the same one that she was wearing in our feature um didn’t have bands across the back but this uh line continued as the costume made its Journey Through the season interesting bit that he picked up now we’re going to rejoin Dave Stewart back

Out there on the Dance Floor U rythmics have sold over a 100 million records worldwide and I mean all of those people couldn’t be wrong uh so we’re bringing you the best in music entertainment here Dave is joining forces now with our Dancers well I was born and [Applause] Original well I was Bor from Original if I had a dollar bill for all the things that I’ve Done there be a mountain of money pil up to [Applause] My me good my mama told me strong she said true to yourself and you can’t go wrong but there’s just one thing that you must understand now you can fool with your brother don’t with a don’t mess with a mission don’t mess with a missionary don’t mess with the

A big in the decision making when it comes to what you wear when you’re on the ice yeah I do um I discussed it together with my choreographer and my brother um we yeah yeah yorck uh we search like a lot of dresses on the internet and then I think we always

Combine like different dresses into one dress and until I feel very comfortable like I really want to wear it and um yeah that’s just like a special process of of making a costume So when you say feel comfortable do you mean like emotionally character-wise or do you

Also mean this has to feel comfortable like you have to be able to skate in it um like everything like you have to feel like a real woman in it um like confident like the body shape is good uh but also like I like a lot of stones I

Like glitter and I also like uh colorful dresses like my short program so yeah I’ve heard stories that uh the dress for a woman is so beaded that it’s two or three pound like a kilo or something is that ever like for you um yeah like some

Dresses are very heavy because of all the stones um like my short dress is like very less uh fabric but a lot of stones and and things on it so it’s very heavy and um yeah it’s just like yeah I love Stone so so some people at home

Might think you’re actually wearing like the top of your competitive outfit uh I was one of them so I thought that the outfit had been changed but this this is a different version and so Elma I guess this is a different version right yeah it is a different version I like to um

To change my dresses a lot and um yeah I think this was also very like suitable for my free program so all right good luck for next year choosing your costume and maybe you’ll win again congratulations I’m so excited to see what she does next and I mean that’s a

Lot of insight right there she liked it so much she’s got different versions of the same look I might just have to have this jacket made in a few other rainbow Hues uh as we go along uh let’s return to the ice for more of Dave Stewart from

The arith miics live in action would I light you this time we have Adam sha him far who won our most entertaining category a little earlier and Jason Brown the inimitable uh performing with the entire cast at the [Applause] end I to you oh yeah when I to your H Uhhhh was Unless anym my B clean Theo now watch me walking walking out the door oh thank You I to you yeah I to you H tell me what I I tell you stra to your decep the biggest F SC all I can now I’m Le in you Yeah To you hone tell me what [Applause] I [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] Know me anymore I P my b I clean the now watch me walking walking out the [Applause] Door I’m you I I [Applause] to oh I love all of those people out on the ice What A vibe I I don’t have an award to give you this is the best coach award that I am just stealing for the moment because uh we’ve reached the

Point in the show now where I wish I had made one of these for you to say thank you being just such a pro you are amazing and a partner in crime and it’s just been such an adventure seeing you flutter around here the way you do well

This is my home this sport has treated me so wonderfully and every chance I have to give back to it and to the fans um on the whether it’s on the ice or hanging out with you I I try to do my best what do you take from this year’s

Awards what have we learned has there been a pattern an Insight inter a lesson we have learned that the uh what’s the category where it was all women newcomer best newcomer and so I think that we can look forward to great things from that category from that uh

In the future the future looks bright I’m beginning to have an accent we’re spending a lot of time together oh I I tend to rrap off on people it gets rougher and rougher the longer you stay with me um if you haven’t noticed we have had a

Lot of fun and we love that it’s been live I think that’s my favorite part of this show is that we are reaching into your homes reaching into your lives and you’re sharing your time with us which we appreciate and and thank you for but we have such a wonderful product art and

Is literally one of the most coveted shows in the world by all the skaters they all want to be a part of it um as you mentioned you’re in love with the live music which is stupendous it sounds so good here and um and I was lucky

Enough to have skated in this show a few times so thank you for joining us I think the ISU Awards is special I think it’s going to grow and I think that um you know these people need to be honored and so we did yes to celebrating more success Excellence creativity and

  1. I'm happy for Hana. I would have given her the award for most entertaining program too; Koo Koo Fun is iconic.

  2. if the "quad god" drying his face with a towel that says "quad god" is as cheesy as Clark Kent sleeping in Superman pajamas. so this is all very awkward

  3. Thank you Skating Awards for honouring such brilliance ! Congratulations Ben Orser…🎉😮 A brilliant show….Eurythmics a privilege to see this .

  4. Shame on the ISU for excluding Russian Figure Skaters – they are the best in the world and any competition without them is second-class at best! To punish athletes for war is disgusting and a disgrace to what this sport stands for in terms of promoting excellence in this amazing sport. If your governing body understood politics they would know that USA initiated this war alongside NATO countries to sell weapons and launder money — so why are these countries' athletes not being excluded as well? So much for moral integrity! Figure skating should not be used as an instrument of punishment for the globalist overlords!

  5. So this stays up but can they sort out copyright strikes on European championships/Four continents? Nooooo….

  6. Просмотры накручивают, либо людям не нравится, судя по количеству лайков

  7. The only award that was deservedly presented was to Brian Orser. The rest was a laughing number. How can a skater who has just one successful season be recognized as a most value skater? Kaori and Shoma have consistently had great seasons for ten years and they've both been world champions twice in a row. Shoma won everything there is to win last season, but the ISU is too easily influenced and blinded by jumps. I have the feeling that the awards are given out arbitrarily and therefore the rating is null and void for me.

  8. So happy for Brian Orser, he really deserved this award, ( which is like an Oscar), for his lifetime achievments, both as a skater and as coach…Congratulations !
