Welcome back to the NFC Championship Game presented by in Turbo Tax where as usual we have the sidelines covered and Tom raldi is with the Lions KB Dan Campbell’s message to his team has been the same all week we are ready for this we’re not surprised to be here Campbell

Said not me not our players not anyone in our building as for the size of the moment the first conference title game in 32 years for Detroit Campbell said we’ve been playing big games for a year straight this is just the next one we’re

To be able to beat any team now we have the chance to prove it and so the stage is set and Spanish language broadcast available on Fox deportees the 49ers won the toss they have deferred so the Lions will get the ball first Niners lions for the right to go

To the Super Bowl and here we go and so Detroit will start from the 25 yd line here’s a little flip to Montgomery looking for a block from Su gets outside and Montgomery’s going to pick up four on first down I think early on the Lions are Going to lean heavily on Montgomery

And Gibs the rookie here’s Montgomery G Center big hole in a first down Montgomery all the way up near the 44 and on Q that’s a good start yeah 2,000 yd backs you see Montgomery he’s the starter and jir Gibbs he’s going to be kind of the ch Pace the rookie first

Rounder and just really well blocked this is the strength of this offense is their versatility the ability to put a lot of load on this offensive line both in the Run game and as the pass game unfolds fake here gotha some pressure gets off Le Porters wide open first down

And more and Sam leaport on the play fake in the Boo from GFF and another first down and a good start to this game for the Lions first down another fake come with Jameson Williams the Speer has a block Williams Cuts up 252 still on his feet Jamerson Williams

Scores 42 yds and a quick lead for the Lions well we talked about which defense has the ability to stop the explosive play as you see Jameson Williams he starts out as the wide receiver left a little flip reverse Frank ragn now the center he gets out in space and that is an

Element of this offense the big play we see them throw the ball deep a lot to Jameson Williams but getting the ball in his hands this is one of the most explosive offenses in the league shoulder injury so that’s good news here’s macaffer though up the middle

Runs into a wall and there’s nothing there Alex angel bone on the stop he brought him back there he is to throw it again first read not there tipped over the middle and it’s incomplete Aiden Hutchinson got his hands on that one on first down birie again pass some

Time Loft and deep for auk Sutton is right there and it’s knocked away auk had to play defense that time cuz Sutton read it beautifully you said it that that looked like they just had a little roll reversal cam Sutton he’s thinking he’s got himself a pick and great job there

By Brandon auk he kind of turned into the defensive back and it was him attacking the hands of Sutton to prevent that from being intercepted go pistol here flip mcaffrey right side looking for something and the liance played it well capper’s going to lose a yard that [Applause]

Time all right so keep an eye we’re going to keep track of this all day long right it’s five down with three in the the Box these big eight-man base formations are very hard to run the ball especially against this Detroit Lions defense so they’re going to continue to

Face that style from Aaron Glenn some point here Kyle Shanahan’s going to start pushing the ball downfield and test them with the passing game 10th play of this opening [Applause] drive what’s up here’s a fake C knocked up in the air and incomplete second time

Today he’s had one tip and I think it’s the second one that Hinson has you know Aiden Hudson’s hard to throw over he’s he’s 67 and he’s all of that see if it was him yep Moody 48 yds on this try and mov he up and it is no good he pushed it

Right he had one blocked last week and he misses this opportunity let’s get it back up seven to nothing here’s Jer goty has a lot of time and sings it over the middle there is his excellent rookie tight end Sam leap Porto so here’s the first touch for jir Gibbs and Gibbs

Sprinting to the outside he’s got a first down up to Midfield well Gibbs the rookie from Alabama has been electrifying and we saw the Lions multiple times this year in the first few weeks it seemed like they were trying to figure out how to use

Them they know how to use them now yeah and it seemed like there was a moment during the regular season where David Montgomery who was at the mo at the time was kind of their Bell cow was the guy getting the majority of the production

In the Run game he was out for a stretch due to injury and it seemed like all those reps that then gives was given because there was no one else to spell him they found out what he excels at man he’s taken off go will get it to Gibbs

Here Gibbs gets to the edge makes nice little move and works his way for about a 5yd gain here’s a fake G’s got all day looking goes far side and there it’s caught out there by Montgomery who makes a catch he’s got a another first down a

Lot of time for Jared gof on that drop back and it’s the first and second down playaction pass and it just does such a Wonder helping your protection watch under center it’s the one of the best front fours in football take a look I mean Bosa wins real late but goff’s

Trying to take a shot trying to push the ball downfield for an explosive and he has all the Time in the World to just come back down and check it down and pick up a first down 49 as a get it out to am ra St Brown has a wall of blocker

St Brown diving forward he’s got a first down inside the 20 and the first touch to Alan ra delivers as he moves forward for 13 and the drive continues now right on Q this is something they’ve made a living they get the big boys pen Su big number 58 he’s

Out there in space he’s one of the best right tackles First Team all pro Gibbs on the draw nothing up the middle cutting to the right and then turns up the field and Gibbs just so fast Jer Brown thought he had a beat on him but Gibbs works his way which should

Be a first down we’ll see where they put it down so Randy Gregory he plays this right when these guys go down you’re taught to close but he closes so hard on the pulling guard but he actually lost the edge of the defense and then you

Said it the speed of gives to then just outrun the late support run Defenders he’s just an electric guy with the ball in his give it to him Montgomery nice move up the middle still chugging his way all the way down to the one that was some

Swim move by Montgomery and a great [Applause] run man this is impressive what a start loss if you’re Detroit moning on second and goal surging his way forward he’s in touchdown Detroit Well we talked about the interior of this offensive line Frank rag now he’s really beat up back up at left guard but watch The Surge and then you got a big back who’s able to run through Drake Greenlaw listen that’s not that’s not an easy feat and there’s a guy right there

That knows a thing or two about being a running back for the Detroit Lions here’s Montgomery a little stutter step right side spin move Montgomery on a first down oh man running hard in this early going and Montgomery’s got 14 a great job there Graham Glasco the Right

Guard really nice job against Eric Armstead the defensive tackle third and 10 goth back delivers onor off St Brown way to go makes a move and he’s got it he had to work he didn’t have the first down after the catch but he moves forward and picks it

Up this is what I’m Ross St Brown has done since arriving here in Detroit it’s his ability to operate primarily out of the slot he’s the inside receiver matched up third and 10 fourman Rush H in some trouble lets it go to the middle and is picked off Rodriguez has it

Breaks the tackle and he’s inside the 25 we get a penalty middle of the field too so hang on temporarily Rodriguez M filling in for Derek Barnes who left with a knee injury and let’s see if this going to stand it looks like maybe during the return let’s find out yeah I think

They’re going to get this I think it’s going to be after the pick I think it’s going to be a blinds side block on Detroit so they’ll maintain possession but they’ll mark this back 15 believe during the return personal foul a little Blindside block return team number two

15 yd penalty from the spot of foul first down Detroit as take a look here you’ll see Josh Pascal number 93 he’s able to get his hand right there on pie upon release and I think that’s all he needed for that ball to kind of come out take a look

Here gets the ball he gets his hand and by the way Drake green law back in the game for the 49ers here’s gof over the middle of the Porter’s wide open he makes a catch and he surges forward near a first down and he should have it you

Talked about the middle of the field it’s what San Francisco’s D does Best But what Detroit’s offense does best so far they’re holding their own there absolutely and they’re kind of trading blows again a soft Zone second and real long they’re playing pass but goff’s ability to be patient and just check it

Down again to a team that very similarly to San Francisco They rely on the run after the catch makes his presence felt on a weekly basis second and seven forgot Dr throw Z one oh good adjustment St Brown’s got a first down that was a great catch he’s down to the

15 in in breing routes thought the safety Jer Brown the rookie I thought he could have jumped it they’re playing kind of a quarters coverage on any in Breaking route like you ran there by Aman R st Brown now it’s Gibbs trying to get to the Edge gets a block from the quarter

Makes a man miss Gibs inside the five touchdown Detroit KB we talk coming in they need to defend this play Josh Reynolds he sets the edge John Bosa and now they can pull theor is out in front glasow the Right Guard and jir gbbs man in the open

Field he is a handful trying to bring down and tell you what we said there might be a shootout I think I think we were on to something about as an athletic big man as they have in the league Montgomery up the middle not Cuts left and a strong run and another first

Down for this lions run game it’s going to put him up over 12 20 rushing yards on the day came out threw the ball 46 times stay on the Run game with Montgomery with a nice seam on the right side and another big run he’s out near a

First down he you know what kind of players you have here’s a fake goth lot of time just UPI over the middle Montgomery’s got the first and then Warner comes up to hit him down to the 45 pen su he thought he was going to get himself he chips Randy Gregory he

Thought he he thought he was going to get himself a first down down conversion there in the left’s flat but third and long going to hand off dibs he’s got a SE dibs racing to the sticks he’s got the first down they handed off on Third and 12 and they picked it

Up well what’ we say in the first quarter no team runs the ball more on Third and pass than the Detroit Lions cuz what are you thinking if you’re the defense we got to play pass best pass rushers play soft shell and they know even if they’re stopped short between

The 40s they’re in four down territory they want to make San Francisco use their last timeout here’s C Forman Rush steps up Zips it over the middle of St Brown he’s got a first down a third and 18 conversion and a dart from gof to St

Brown wow well it was a it was a high percentage throw just a little deeper than we thought Jameson Williams he took the top off and he carried the safety J Jer Brown and that’s exactly the hole that St Brown was able to find and man

That is just a back breaker right there you’re third down got fires Far Side sa BR again another first [Applause] down they are doing whatever they want on third down Greg yep Aman R st Brown working against dador Lenor in the slot and this is an area of the San Francisco

Defense for all the things they do so exceptionally well and here’s badley from 21 buries it so it’s 24-7 a 17-point lead for the Lions on the road 280 yards in the first half by the Lions but 49ers will get it first certainly could use a good drive to get

Back in the game as McLoud will watch it go over his head we go downstairs to [Applause] Aaron on the fake here’s a flip Samuel in some trouble in the back field and he is brought down for a loss Josh Pascal read it the entire time and that’s a big

Play for the Lions defense maccaffrey will get it he is slammed down to the ground Brian Branch came up from the secondary made a great play yeah auk he’s in charge of cutting this backside Gap off but branch is just going to hit it and from that stance in

A two-point receiver stance he just he can’t get off the ball fast enough and the 24 Cur quick throw KD his first Catch of the Day upended immediately by Su that’s a nice tackle h it sets up for what should be a fun fourth quarter on the Move Get it to Debo

Samuel who is hit and is taken down nice play for VOR to hang on and not allow Samuel to get anywhere great impressive counting speed there’s pie on the play fake look at End Zone it’s not there pressure coming pie is sacked nice job by the secondary and

Then it led to the sack by Tyson ALU Alo yeah I think this one’s on pie he’s got to get this ball out of his hand he gets the one-on-one matchups that he wants nice job there in the back end by Detroit but this is good protection I

Mean they’ve got everybody accounted for on the blitz [Applause] and fourman Rush C in trouble C sacked again no sacks for the entire game but now on backto back plays as AE mcneel delivers welle mcneel he’s kind of a breakout rushing the passer you see him here working against the Right Guard

Feliciano and here’s G on the fake back loading up deep and Williams is that intercepted Thomas Williams Williams comes down with it wow Jameson Williams hangs on after a little Bobble and it’s good for 22 well that’s their third snap of man coverage a little bit of a wrinkle we

Thought was coming and man now we’ve seen each team make a big catch off of a deflection he’s open this ball was thrown a little bit behind him and I was with you keep those timeouts if you have to go on defense need this on third over

The middle C Le Porter that’ll keep it going first down yeah they got to try to get off over the middle the pora again is another first down into 49ers territory 204 to go and that will take us to the two-minute warning they need two scores Blitz is coming picked up goth

Deep Over the middle and he has a catch down there to Reynolds will holds it in clock is running they won’t use a timeout yeah these are the big in breaker chunks that they need and again no use of using your timeouts you don’t want to just become

Strictly reliant on recovering an on site’s kick got Far Side lorta makes the catch slides out of bounds Dr through the middle again St Brown down inside the 10 first and goal time feel like this one needs to go in the end zone out of bounds to stop the

Clock cannot get tackled in bounds pressure coming G unloads it and down near the end zone is ferer and he’s out of bounds Anthony ferer hasn’t had a single Target the entire year yeah take a look watch his left foot great shot there about the

Yard and a half short of the pylon take a look right there and still stop the clock this is the game go PPS fires End Zone it is caught for the touchdown what a grab by Williams to keep this game alive for the Detroit touchdown it’s a really good drive I’ll

Tell you what they went down the field fast only had to use one of those timeouts they had the benefit of the two-minute warning and just a really nice basic cross on the back end line out of that Bunch formation

  1. Lions over the last 60 years have found spectacular ways to lose…Sunday evening was the cherry on the top

  2. "highlights" but didnt show h9w 9ers got 17 points in 3rd quarter 🤦🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️
Edit NONE of the 9ers second half points 😂😂😂

  3. We earned every right to be here this year. We had it in our finger tips and let it slip away. No promises to ever be back in the position that we were in. Sick of everyone just saying “oh keep your head up!” This loss is absolutely heartbreaking and theres no way around it.

  4. As a Raiders fan I know how the Lions feel. Both teams find new ways to lose game they should have won. I'd rather get blown out by 40 points then to lose a game that we should have won.

  5. I’m not a lions fan but man this one was a tough loss. That’s not to say it wasn’t a great run this season for y’all. Go into next season knowing the playoff drought is OVER! Get back in there with heads of steam and get back in championship contention

  6. I know a lot happened that went wrong, but when your up 14 in the 3rd quarter with a chance to go up 3 scores, take the field goal. Everyone knows, when you gamble, sooner or later it will come up snake eyes. Bad plays happen all the time, but bad coaching, shouldn't happen

  7. It doesn’t get much more horribly awful as that. Blowing the largest lead in NFCC history when you had game in hand. I doubt they get back to this game next year, that was their shot of a lifetime and it was devastating.

  8. Interesting how these highlights can be edited differently. Mysteriously, these particular highlights somehow show none of the 49ers touchdowns. Another highlight edited differently shows all of them, including Ayuuk's catch off the facemask and Purdy's three long scrambles for yardage. I guess creators can take liberties with their editorial biases that reflect their own fan base. Regardless, my heart goes out to all Detroit fans. Games like this (and of course, a Superbowl win), can be a huge boost for a city like Detroit. Same when Cleveland beat the Warriors in the championship game a few years ago. Sure, the San Francisco Bay Area would be deeply disappointed with a loss. However, they are in a state that would be the world's fifth largest economy if it were a country, is a global tech hub, is called the breadbasket of the country due to it's food production, has a multi-billion dollar film industry, the list goes on. My point is, though I grew up there and am a 49er fan, I'm happy when cities that have had financial struggles and get dumped on by the media have a huge source of pride, an economic boost and a victory parade. When it happens, its well deserved.

  9. Niner fan here, Nothing to be ashamed of or embarrassed, Detroit lions put up a gigantic fight, but sometimes Momentum helps the other side; congratulations for a great season but happy my 49ers won.

  10. Its hard to say "we'll get em next year" after this… Just a Super Bowl appearance would be nice. Go for the tie late in the game DAN!

  11. Lions won’t make it back to playoffs next year. The north teams were down this year. Lions will be back on the bottom again.
Their defense is soft and now losing their offensive coordinator.

  12. As a lions fan, I respect Dan Cambell, he has the guts to do stuff no other manager would dream of. He made it work 99% of the time this season, and we should all be grateful for that.
It just happened to not work out this game.

  13. Lions players folded in the 2nd half .
Coach Campbell screwed up on 2 separate occasions on 4th and short to go for a 1st down, instead of going for a field goal.
In big games sometimes it comes down to which team makes mistakes.
Campbell made the same mistake twice.
    Deflates his offense and defense.
    Horrible decision coach .
See ya next year in the playoffs. Maybe 😮

  14. The Lions could have won this game but there is no need to point fingers.Detroit players and their coaches gave fans a great ride for five months and that has never happened here.

  15. hey good tip from a 49er fan deebo is the last person you'd want to fire up either way great game you guys and u prob shouldve won that game respect from a 49er fan

  16. What are dead gum Sorry video exclamation mark didn't even show the Redskins scoring! Thumbs down.👎👎👎 can't believe I even wasted my time watching this

  17. If you are going to SHOW the Lions loss to the 49ers, then you should ALSO SHOW the 49ers game plays when they SCORED!

  18. In 2021, when the Lions finished 3-13, there were glimmers of potential of what could be because they lost many games, but they always fought to the end. Their turning point came in 2022 when they started 1-6 and finished 8-8 with rookies and young players who started to figure things out. The years of 21-22-23 show how the Lions built through the NFL draft and instilled a new culture.

The year 2023 will always be remembered in Lions history for what they did under the man who should be the NFL COY of the year. The Lions will learn the lessons they had to because the experience offers as a great teacher to propel them into future to finally win an SB.

  19. Niner fan here, You guys put up a really tough fight. Youll be contenders to the us and the whole NFC for a long time. It actually sucked that we had to play you because I am such a big fan of Detroit, Dan Campbell, and the Lions. You'll be back

  20. They got a sample of US and we almost won it all now imagine what will happen when they taste the whole meal! We still cooking 🧑‍🍳

  21. Does anyone know what is the Lions 4th down conversion rate on the road against teams with a winning record?

  22. Lions lost because of the coach had clueless about those two 4th down that he called. The coach should be fired. He want to be called a good gambler, he doesn't want the champ ring. he fools Lions fans

  23. Guys don't be upset with this loss, we made rookie mistakes and i think we lacked experience compared to the niners. However next year is our year as long as we fix the defense. I truly believe next season we will get 1st seed and will win the NFC championship game. I know this seems unrealistic but we did great this year and next season our guys will be stronger, smarter and hungrier.

  24. Took me a week to get over the loss and watch these highlights. Just brings excitement for next year. We were built for this moment. Just ran out of gas. Get some more dawgs on that defense and we can be special next season.
