Welcome everyone back to pomm and O hope we’re all doing really well if you’re new around here do me the solid hit that like button hit that subscribe it really helps the channel out can’t thank you enough for the support you’ve shown me and um you’ve been enjoying the content

That’s been pre-recorded and recorded on the fly so thank you very much for that become a member of the channel if that’s the kind of thing that floats you boat we do some wonderful stuff we’ve got in February some members only live streams where we’re covering the draft some

Topics led by you some live one-on ones it’s going to be a real good crack and we’re going to ramp that up once I am back on Deck with you beautiful people and this morning I woke up to the great news that Jack Sani is out for the year

With an ACL obviously great news being factious um I’m kind of used to this uh I’m battered and worn down Blues fan I am so used to players getting injured that it’s not funny so I thought this was asked by Adrien Selena good friend

Of the Channel good day to you ad mate I hope you’re doing well of what we might do to fix it so obviously it opens up a list spot as we know and what the AFL allow allows you’ve got to the last week of February mid-February um to add a player onto

Your list now there is a few options that I wanted to throw around one options of what you can do options of what we could do structurally and I thought that would be a good way to kind of get over the dram before we start my

Heart my soul my love goes out to Jack we’re going to miss you buddy I know you’re going to be around the club though and you’re going to be an absolute awesome cheerleader to really get through to these boys from the sidelines we’re all behind you mate

You’ve got an army behind you as well not just one person you got a whole flux of people that can’t wait to see you run out round one 2025 and I’d imagine the noise is going to be like an Ampitheater when you return so God speed my friend

Look after yourself and bloody H boys back him up get him going get him going and he’s got some wonderful people to learn from hasn’t he it’s going to be a hard time for him mentally he’s got match Bank there kuners he’s got doc who’s done it numerous times as well

Some veterans then he’s got some older heads who have been through disappointment and fought the way back people like pom Cotter and the like so he’s got some great heads around him who are going to really get around him um and Z will who has been doing this job

For a couple of years now um so that’s good so let’s have a look at it first what have we lost so it’s interesting only a couple of weeks ago we had Ash Hansen come out and talk about that he is a forward and we all Rejoice myself

Included because I think that’s Jack’s best position I don’t think it’s behind the ball I don’t think it’s a rook I think that was a good experiment but I think long term for Jack’s career he going to now down a row and I think that that third forward we’ve seen JM when he

Plays that third marking player which I don’t think is his best job incidentally from Jack Martin but it is what he’s good at I was kind of excited so let’s look at the options of bringing it in so option number one is we we pay Collingwood back so there’s two players

On the market at the moment there’s a guy called bro mclin who’s a key forward used to play for Gold Coast one that was a dominant in the vfl um mid-age player um my knock on him is I think longterm going forward it’s not needed I think if

You’re bringing in a key forward now when you’ve got Harry lemy there that’s the right kind of backup you want or you have a backup who’s 32 33 just in case something happens to Harry and Charlie touch wood it doesn’t but that’s probably where you are so I’m not for that the

One that might Intrigue C and this is more if we’re looking at someone to play that third forward which spoiler for later genuinely that third forward in most clubs comes from the anti where count have played young players as the key position good clubs genuinely play

Him as the third a young key forward as the third that being said the other option count may look at is a guy called Brin Tio and count and doo Collingwood won from them taking Oleg Markov now it works out well for both clubs we got pom

Cter we love pom cot and I wouldn’t I wouldn’t swap but counton could look to pay him back Brin T still training with the pies benefits of Brin is he’s played AFL he’s an able serviceable player because I don’t think losing Jack is a travesty in the terms of personnel ready

To play I think that it’s probably a position that we have a bit of depth in and probably something that we can make work I do worry about them key so brim T might be one who comes in who can play Rook he can play forward uh and he can

Do a little bit of everything so that might be something that cowon really look at and think maybe this is what we could do maybe this is the area here and Bren tles played AFL football we know he’s AFL ready option two is count and do what they’ve done quite

Successfully and that’s go internally and you may say pom does that mean well what I mean by that is C may look now they’ve had ramshaw and mcmah Co Liam MC working with the seniors and they’ve been training what has to be said all year with the seniors in all pre season

If you went to both open trainings I did see them in open training the one that I missed but the one that I went to I did see them but Archie Stevens AJ Mills Heath ramshaw and Liam mcmah have both been there and Liam mcmah maybe that

Tasty option that count and go and go while he’s really performed in the Juniors been through the Collingwood system being through our vfl system obviously they let Benny Crocker go because they’re quite confident of what’s coming through there that may be an Avenue they go down and go right that

Gives some validity to our vfl he knows the system because the vfl mirror the system that count and play and we get to have an early look at him and see what happens and he’s going to be in a developing role now the third option and this is

Probably the option with them options being discussed I’m more lean towards you look at MSD or you take the next best drafty so someone like K Sanchez who was overlooked could be that risk that count and go and go let’s go a different position he’s maybe been forgotten about

All you wait to the mid season draft which I think is probably more diligent because options four and five I’m going to present to you are the on that I’m leaning towards so mid-season draft basically we wait we look at the vfl you could maybe dangle a vfl carrot in our

Own system which helps with your Acquisitions which helps bring in the kids option four and this is the probably the one where I’m thinking and that’s reading between the lines very interesting last week C and put out a post that Doc is now a mid forward and

He’s going to play a large amount of forward time now when you look at Joss’s game what do you think right is that very good elusive third Mark he peels off his man very good at making himself available down that pocket with that deep lead can snag when he needs to and also

That intensity isn’t it that pressure Sam doti for me although not the same type of player brings all them and more very good at peing off his man down back and we saw that towards the end of last year as well when he went a bit further the ball especially on the

Wing he’s not scared to lead also loves a snag gives us an option that we probably don’t already have outside of our keys of someone who can Boom the ball from 50 out where a large amount of third tall marks are taken that 50 Mark

45 out when they do a deep lead so Sam doti may be one of them guys that now gets a bit more forward minutes which then allows C to be a bit more creative with an Elijah Holland pinch hitting on the ball as well floating through half

Forward and Jack Martin taking the big neat big Crooks of it other options as well obviously Ashton Mo he’s built for this to I said he was the J sauce with that touch of class and kicking of both sides Ashton comes in he’s going to have a great chance and Elijah Holland will

Be chomping at the bit here playing that half High half forward role and c and simply keep that as a rotating area slotting a variety of players in other option that’s not been talked about enough for me is Harry lemy by all reports training the house

Down and see what I said earlier in the video key forwards genuinely start their trade as the third toll what a perfect opportunity working with two of the best in the business and key forwards being safe being the extra body he’s been pinch hitting the Rook as well

Towards the end of last season the vfl could be an option for an early season debut or option five you start to get a bit creative and create these opportunities we’ve seen with these injuries before players start to thrive in new roles and there’s three players

That I wanted to talk about and I’m going to talk about them in my priority least favorite to favorite right so number one is broady cemp do you swing him back forward I don’t like it because I think he’s finally found his Niche and I’ve been saying this for years he’s a

Defender Defender he’s an intercept Defender that is his Niche but that is an option the same you could say with Mitch mcgoverin I don’t like it option two Jackson bins playing very high up the ground he’s been working as defensive craft but if you watch any of

The drafty interviews I did a lot of people mention Jackson Bings because of his ability at half forward this could be a great option for C because obviously Doc’s playing at half forward the club is confirmed and the mid and then pinch itting down the back it

Allows you to keep that rotation fresh which mean David Cunningham can be fresh which is where I feel with that count and Mr trick with cers towards the end of last season of not rotating him and giving him chance to be somewhere else would also help Mr Jack Martin out that

Avenue as well because he can then get into that rotation mix and C can use Fantasia and all them players and really rotate them and then become a little bit more unpredictable because I feel like that that helps if count don’t do the same thing I felt at times count become very onedimensional

So if there’s an air there so Jackson bins is someone that could be in with a shout and option three I looked at it and I thought who is in there that’s been forgotten about now Shawn makers is a really interesting case this year um in the AFL draft

Because when we talked about it we talked about it quite a lot that there was a lot of players in the AFL draft this year that were kind of unheralded and Tasmania is always that one and one of the ones that I was looking at quite

Heavily in this one was a certain Mr Loy Cowan and why I say loy Cowan quite simple I look at luy Cowan and I think is he getting in at half back probably not but what are his skills incredibly in the air he’s bigger than the average bear he’s very very competitive very

Good with a ball below his feet and he’s got a a big raking kick and he loves to give it off he loves to give it off to players but he’s also a fighter is this something that c look at developing I know we have only got two weeks remember

Really of two weeks of preseason left before it starts ramping up and by two weeks from now with there already been less than 40 about 40 days to go you’ve really got to be in the situation in two weeks time that you know what your best

22 is is that something that c may be look at early dos in the vfl playing him at half forward as that third all option and in synopsis genuinely I think the best course of action is we keep that rotation it now opens an opportunity for Elijah Holland Ashton Moore David

Cunningham to really cement that spot without J sauce and you know what I think it makes it easier for them three players because I feel like if Ashton or Elijah broke into this 22 at the expensive J sauce because he’s so well-loved and he’s got such a stellar

Name that’s so important to him was I don’t think the fans would have given him the love that he probably deserves and now there’s a great chance that you can come in and be the heartbeat of the side that the fans really have an affinity with Jack Sani and someone’s

Going to have to take that mantle for 12 months and whoever it will be gets to honor it and I think it’s a fast track to become an a media darling my early tip for me is Ashton Moore will get this job Elijah will have first crack but I

Feel like this is a job that once Ashton gets a bit of confidence he’s built for it he’s that Med ium sized player incredible in the air can kick with both feet so I think by the by Ashton will be that man taking the pressure off Jack

Martin and that makes it really exciting having two Jack Martins Charlie and Harry and then the marauding smalls of Fantasia mlop Duran and and O and Co that would be really exciting and with the p people kicking into him but for me I’m not panicked I’m gooded Jack’s

Missing but I’m not paned panic I feel like longterm will be okay let me know in the comments what you think the options are and until next time peace love and light pom Out I see her rolling up over black CAC he boots and a sexy body for the TS babies bad old babies have yeah

  1. Great stuff Pom! I certainly like the idea of Binns and E Hollands! With Moir after he gets some development in VFL.

I recall at GC they wanted E Hollands to play HHF and he didn’t shine! As he’s a more natural mid. Is it worth trying to shoehorn a player like E Holl when we’ve done the same with M Kennedy and it not really worked out?

  2. Pommy with the lovely cushioned header at the back post. I've been literally wondering all day what this means in terms of list numbers and options to replace SOS. Thank you very much Pom, very informative

  3. i have never been this devastated over an injury he shows what it’s like to play for the blues and be a supporter at the same time he was destined for one year lucky we have alot of depth though

  4. Thanks for this mate. We have options, it’ll be interesting which way go with it. PS. Top shelf surname pronunciation! 👏

  5. We all love him but TBH it makes the best 22 dilemma easier. TDK rucks and rests forward, Pitts on the bench and ruck relief. Forward line – Charlie, Harry, J-mart… two small forwards – Motts and Fantasia and then a rotating mid (Walsh, Bam Bam, Cotts etc) … Moir COWBELLS into the side on the bench

  6. Personally Pom I think a the Blues have some depth but it's certainly something that isn't as easy a fix. Enough so that I'd stress even a similar or even smaller player is the way to go.

Eliajaih/Oliver Holland's or Jack Carrol are what sprang to my mind first. Don't know any of these players health wise but they did spring to mind as alternative options as Carktons best chances up forward outside of McKay and Curnow, is in fact the crumbed ball, the in motion ball the lightning spear kick inside 50.

If Carlton can kick goals like 1 of the 3 ways I mentioned then they're a lock fir finals no doubt as your big twin tower forwards will hopefully/most likely kick the bigger sums of goals. All about the back up around them.

Sanchez I rate. If Carlton were to try and get him, then I'd say they should seriously do it now else he'll slip through the cracks to another club.

Teackle is an interesting take. Personally I think he's the very player that the Pies will select as they do need that Ruck and Forward depth. Arguably more so than Carlton and they're the reigning Premiers!!!

Very interesting video Pom. Injuries certainly loom as the early Kryptonite for Carlton yet again so fingers crossed Jack can be on the mend for the better. Keep up the great work mate, even as a North supporter, I really find your own teams content an intriguing watch. Great stuff!

  7. Sliding doors moment. Terrible news for Jack. Wonderful opportunity for someone else. Good test of our system too. Interested to see if lemmy gets some games. Prob still too early for him. Moir or Hollands would seem the prime beneficiaries of Jacks misfortune

  8. Thanks for the video Pommy.
I can't believe how much this injury hurts. I know he's not in everyones best 22 each week, but there is just something more that Jack brings. He will be missed 😥 The boys have a great next man up mentality, so they'll be fine without him, it's just hard and seems so very unfair.

  9. Well done Pom. I hope it’s Jack Martin goes to 3rd tall ( Binns or E.Hollands coming into the 23) & we recruit best available ruck cover in the State leagues to ensure our VFL program stays strong (if that’s Teakle then so be it).

  10. I'm no fan of the Baggers but I always have had an interest in Jack Silvagni as I was the secretary of the club where he played his junior footy and have followed his development which began as a 7 year old in our Tackers. He generally stayed clear of injuries ( juniors usually do) but he missed the entire season at Under 15s level with stress fractures in his back. He has had a few injuries at Carlton but obviously nothing like this. Hopefully it goes okay for him. For what it's worth, I think your club is in for a very big year. Some would say "about time" but everything comes to those who wait.

  11. Pom , not withstanding Weiterings injury , this injury to JSOS forces Carlton to put McGovern up foward , and find a C H B , all the best Jack , Blue thru and thru , GO BLUES RARARA

  12. Elijah Hollands will play the forward foil role in matches where JSOS would have played there. In games where we want/need a relief ruck JSOS will be a big loss.

  13. Development mindset would see Lemmey, Moir, Binns, Hollands E, filling JSOS role.
Playing to our strengths mindset…we are deep in midfielders. A certain P Cripps could fill that role, opening up opportunity for Kennedy, which then opens up a bench spot for some unpredictability…..Cowan, Boyd, Binns, etc.
Will be fascinating to see what our coaching panel conjures, and the application by our depth players who put their hands up.💙💙

  14. JSOS is the heart and soul of the Blues . He represents the Spirit of the Old Navy Blues .
There is no obvious replacement for him in reality . I think we need to develop an existing listed player . The practice matches will tell the story .

  15. I can smell the ointment in the air pommy from Bonnie Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 half way through my first winter 🥶 kick the sun a little this way pommy , Jsos getting injured suxs but that’s footy he will be back

  16. Great stuff, Dan👏
JSOS was our (only) utility, as he was our backup ruckman in game, if TDK and/or Pitto were/are out of the team, it is now a bit of a worry and a question mark?!
I think we can easily cover his forward out put, but I am worried about the ruck depth🤔
That is the hole that he leaves.

    I wish him a speedy recovery 🙏

  17. Gonna need a tall forward I like the idea of brodie mcglaghlin if Harry or Charlie go down we got no key forwards remember aswell the relief Jack gives in the ruck

  18. If Marchbank is fully fit, then they can allow McGovern to go forward. Harry, Charlie and Mitch who will stop that trio?

  19. JSOS is the heart and sole player at the club, no one will replace that. Carlton biggst weakness at the moment is ground ball and clearance in F50 and Jack brang that for a big man. With him out of the picture we turn to more specialists in the roll. Its no coincidence when Fogarty and Cunningham came in at the back end of the season we had way more chance creation. I think Cunners is a lock now. The question is do we stick with Fogarty or can the likes of Kennedy or E.Hollands step up and bring the presure clearance and ground balls while presenting a marking option with more scoreboard impact. Doc in his new role as forward mid is all the more important, we'll lean on his defensive presure. If Doc switches with Crippa in the middle then he could provide the ground/clearance work we need and be a marking target. Ideally with whats on the list Kennedy becomes the forward inforcer in a similar vain to Sam Powell-Pepper. He's got that game in him and I'd back him to be good for a goal a game. It's why ive got Cunners as a lock because he's the only forward with any pace and has the sharpest hands at the club. Im backing him with a season under his belt after injury to gain the confidence and start attacking the goals and have scoreboard impact on the regular similar to a Ben Keays

  20. I agree Dan. The Jsos injury has at least come at a time where a new strategy can be implemented. I'm very confident that Moir is our man in that third forward position (a true third forward), but will that be in his first year, i don't know. In the meantime, lots of options as you mentioned, particularly with Elijah Hollands, or Binns.. but i also like the idea of giving Lemey a run!

Feels like we have this well covered. The only place we might feel Jack's loss might be if we struggle with ruck options, but so far so good.

  21. I'd be looking at an experienced back up ruckman in case TDK or Pitto get injured for the extra spot on the list.

  22. Either E hollands orMcgovern goes forward or you play an extra small.Durdin Fantasia and Cotrell ! Moir is not ready but maybe forced to play ahead of schedule. You are now almost forced to play Tdk/Pitto in the same side! Even against sides that you need more run against. I was banging on how Carlton should have trained up Mckay to do some ruckwork years ago. Daniher does it for Brisbane so why not Mckay? Voss is not a forward thinking coach and prefers more a consertive approach! God bless!!
