This gorgeous Saturday, May 9, 2020 would have been the marquee day of the 34th annual South Carolina Poultry Festival in Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina. But the COVID-19 outbreak forced cancellation of the town’s largest annual event. Undeterred, festival organizers decided to stage a miniature parade around town with its mascot, tossing out T-shirts and Life Savers candy.
The community rallied around the quickly-arranged celebration and demonstrated the spirit of this resilient little village in the Carolina Midlands.
