Longview, Washington — On January 1, 2024, around 5:00 a.m., officers from the Longview Police Department responded to a call from a man, who reported that 29-year-old Katelynn Rose Smith had assaulted him. When officers responded to the house at Columbia Heights Road near Parkview Drive, they ordered a man out of the house and pulled him away from the home entrance. The man then pleads with the deputies saying, “Can I please just talk to her?” He is denied the request and then pleads again, saying “please don’t hurt her,” before Smith comes out of the house holding a gun, which she pointed at officers. The Longview Police officers then shot the woman. Though first aid was administered, she did not survive her in injuries.
