Dis Raptor dis drying Tool what’s up locals well we are back again looking today probably scene maybe at this point called the dis Raptor uh this is um a really interesting um device they’re kind of trying to compete with golf towels here what you’ve got here is a sort of disc drying tool and
Before we even start I want to just say real quick um dis rptor did send us this for a review no money changed hands and this will be a completely honest review as you will see interesting little device um it’s got like a real like sort
Of like car kind of shammy vibe to it if I flip it inside out for a minute you can see here I’m just going to pop it right inside out and you can see that it’s got this sort of you know furry kind of vibe going on to it and then
It’s almost got this like sort of like kind of astr turf um kind of edge to it and um it’s you know semicircle in shape and the idea is that you could run a disc through this they’re trying to appeal to an audience where you know in some extreme conditions whether it’s
Damp whether it’s muddy out uh you know they’re trying to appeal to them and say that this is like you know one of the best tools for drying your disc all right so I’ve got my um new um MVP Watt and I just got this the other day and
I’ve been kind of keen to get out and throw it a little bit and wanted to see you know how this tool Works uh you know compared to a towel cuz ultimately we all probably have towels in our bag and is this actually like doing anything
Different so um if I throw my disc obviously this disc isn’t going to hold a ton of snow right now but if I run this into here you know and I try to give it that clean I find now truthfully um you know I can obviously shake a lot
Of this out but I I got to be honest I you know I I haven’t loved the experience truthfully I feel like it pushes snow and mud around in it you know I you put it in right away and you can kind of squeeze it and try to get this off
And I have found like even here right now showing it I feel like there’s not a ton of absorbing going on I don’t know that I can show this completely cuz it’s snow but um there’s still moisture on the inside there’s still snow on the inside even
Though I’ve run this around here you know a couple times uh the disc still feels damp there’s still snow in it I’m actually getting more out of it by shaking it I don’t want it like crazy I just want to be able to like pick it it shows what we’re getting at
Here see again just kind of is like pushing it around now did I get some of it off absolutely and like right now obious I’ve got even some sand on my hands so you know this is kind of like a my technique is off but I just feel like you
Know a towel is way more effective these towels give you sort of this like waffle weave on one side and then kind of a microfiber on the other and you know in my experiences I the dis rptor I guess could be used in a situation where like
If you threw it into a situation it was just like absolutely soaking wet it would get like the bulk of it off so I do think that there’s a purpose for it um but you know ultimately if I’m trying to like dry my disc off you know I I
Still don’t believe that there’s anything better uh than a towel and again with a disc like this on a day like this I can get all of the condensation off and this goes back into my bag and after a few minutes after all of the condensation off of it this disc
Is just going to naturally dry so I didn’t feel like it did um you know as good of a job as a towel I think in extreme conditions uh it probably does have a purpose I don’t find myself in a lot of extreme conditions playing like
Yes I play in Winter uh and maybe like in the thaw in the spring sure um you know but I don’t think for the most part you know a tool like this is doing anything better than a towel I guess the only situation where I would say you
Know your towel can while they’re fantastic at absorbing maybe your towel gets to the point where like it’s just super wet if you’re playing in really extreme um circumstances I guess you could create like kind of like a two-step process where you use your disc
Rptor to get like the bulk of it off then you can switch over to your towel at that point um and then that kind of like maybe extends the life of your towel through your round if it’s like super wet and super Mucky where you’re playing I love the creativity I love the
Ingenuity of it that you know obviously people are trying to create products that like you know make the sport better make the experience better um but you know in my testing personally uh this hasn’t been you know it lived on my bag for a little while and then obviously we
Did have a dry summer so when the conditions don’t feel extreme I kind of put it away and I just kept a towel on my bag or on my card I just didn’t feel like I needed it if you’ve got a comment maybe you’ve had a different experience
With it than I have uh definitely leave that down below I try to keep an open mind to the idea of this and um you know if if you’ve had a different experience um please let me know uh maybe it’s a lifesaver for you and maybe it’s just
The fact that like I live in a pretty dry climate where I am and something like this doesn’t serve me as well that’s my opinion definitely leave yours down below uh thanks again dis rptor I appreciate it and um look forward to you know maybe there’s an evolution in this
Process too where the device could evolve I you know maybe there’s a way that they can incorporate you know a microfiber element or something more of a towel element I love the weatherproof exterior to it I think that’s a great piece to it but you know overall I it
Didn’t uh do for me what I was hoping it was going to do for me originally so having said that I want to say thanks again uh for watching my name is Ryan this is local we are local

Great information Ryan.
I picked up a Disc Raptor on their website release. It's not something that I bring every round but if the conditions are wet and muddy I use it to get a majority of the mud and moisture off and finish with a Goat Towel.
I've found that to be a great 1-2 punch to minimize bringing multiple towels for a round
I tried this in the snow and I found that it wasn't very effective, I'm thinking its going to work better when the disc is full of mud. I'm hoping its going to save my towel from getting full of dirt. Time will tell.
You’re also holding the disc upside down. Not letting gravity help. Never have tried a disc raptor but kind of looked like a bad commercial for a towel.
I like mine, use it instead of a towel. But for snow its not great
As far as I know, Disc Raptor isn't PDGA approved
Thanks for another great review Ryan!
In theory it's a good idea but it just doesn't work very well. It doesn't get heavy snow slush out from the rim of the disc and for mud it's almost useless after a handful of dirty discs go through it once, then it just smears the mud around the discs. You can't really clean this thing til you get home meanwhile shaking off or beating a towel on a tree or something is always an option. It's also bulkier than my towel and not as easy to jam in to my pouches.
I use one to get the bulk off and then a towel. if I just use the towel my towel is dirty quick. I play in the mud and occasional floods.
Mine works well. Only had it since christmas but its getting the full Michigan winter experience and hasn’t disappointed me so far…
Best towel i ever bought was a yoga mat towel from CVS. Cut it into 4 pieces. I absolutely love it. Drys better, cleans better and last longer than any other towel I've used before.
THEY WORK FINE THE NAME IS NEW TO ME MINE HAS NO NAME WHERE RAPTOR NAME COME FROM
