Hello everyone coach Loy here PJ golf professional welcome back to the channel or if you’re new here hello today we’re going to be talking about something that should rather be on your dinner plate than in your golf swing that’s right the chicken wing instead of this golf swing video making

Is going to be sort of appearing on your through swing in this sort of bent position here whereas you’ll see pro golfers better golfers releasing that Golf Club properly and as you get to the same sort of position you won’t see my arms or anything here you’ll see the
Club sort of exiting rather than that sort of dreaded look the chicken wing idea how do we get you releasing that Golf Club better to hit better golf shots and lower your golf scores well the first thing is if you’re just trying to change the look of your chicken wing
It’s going to be very hard for you to do and you’ll probably cause yourself a bit of an injury by doing that so basically you’ve got to take it steps back to find the cause of why that’s actually happening earlier on in your swing there’s something that’s going to be
Going on that’s going to be causing that chicken wing so if you’re just trying to fix this chicken wing and not let it happen like you’re going to cause yourself probably a bit of an injury a bit of tennis elbow or golfers elbow is there actually any difference between
Golfers and tennis elbow can someone let me know in the comments down below please basically what we see when people are chicken winging when people come into the Lesson Studio here and I see things like this is that from down the line view again here the common thing
That happens is that people’s hand paff or golf’s hand paffs get really out in front of them which causes a really steep shaft on the way down and a really generally open Club face and if you carry on this sort of start of that down swing where the hand path
Moves out or kicks out away from you this lead arm gets really detached from sort of your body that club’s really steep you see really extreme out Towing Club paths what does an out wiing club PA have to have well if you want to find Target it’s going to have to have an
Open Club face and the combination of the two that open Club face that path moving out to in is going to be the cause of that chicken wing so Hand path kicks out club gets really steep Club face has to be open because now you’re going to want to get some contact on
That golf ball to send it out towards the target if you don’t have that face open to the path you’re going to hit some straight PS to the left so you keep that face open to make that ball start left curve back to Target but then you
Can only hold on to it for so long until this arm is going to cause you some serious pain so it crashes and you get that chicken wing because that hand path kicks out because that shaft is so steep your body stops rotating as well so people think that you’re not releasing
The golf club properly when you’re doing a chicken wing well you kind of are because if you were to release it different you wouldn’t find Target so you’re trying to be functional with what you’re doing before impact and post impact so common chicken wing traits that you see from most golfers hand paff
Kicks out shaft is really steep paths way to the left really open Club faces if this is ringing bells to you down that lens then I would definitely recommend carrying on watching to the end of this video where we’re going to give you a few drills to help you fix
This chicken wing and this release and get you looking like those Pros so tip number one you’ve got to address this hand path hand path is number one we’ve got to stop this hand paff kicking out away from you so far we’re going to try
And make that hand paff be a lot deeper on the way down and you can Chuck AIDS in the way here if you want to but for this video we’re going to go by more FS rather than chucking AIDS in the way if you did want an aid you kind of want a
Tall stick up here that if you get to the top your swing and your hands move out you’re going to crash into it imagine you moving down if I drew a line up here my hands would move down below it and that’s the sort of feel that
We’re going to get and I’m going to get you to swing to the top of your swing here and then from here we really want to feel like your hands are lowering towards your back or Trail pocket back towards your Trail pocket rather than out and away from your body
So you’re going to do a few little pump drills getting that hands to drop down towards that pocket get a real good feel of what’s happening with your body and if you can get this to happen then you’re going to really want to start to release rotate turn that upper body to
Get that club onto the golf ball and already I’m in a much stronger position to let that club pass out in front of me with my arms straight and releas release into my finish rather than hands out across chicken wig allowing that hand path to do something completely
Different throwing that club out towards that golf ball rather than throwing that hand paff out away from you at the top of that back swing up to the top into your pockets into your pockets chip It Forward I’m hitting an eight iron here and I’ve done a few little pumps and
Chipped it forward and because I’ve got the right Dynamic LOF the right paths the right face the paths the right releases I’m now able to put that power into the golf ball that we want it’s got 140 yards look at the shape that it’s got It’s got a little draw to the left
Rather than that horrible out handw path steep shaft chicken wing cutting across it horrible slices like I’ve put a lot of effort into that one and because I’m not using my bigger muscles my upper body my lower body efficiently that’s carried 100 7 yards the second thing
That I just want you to check once you’ve got that feel of those hands dropping towards that trail pocket whether you’re right-handed or left-handed it’s your Trail pocket so I’m right-handed golfer I’m dropping it to my right pocket once you’ve got that feeling and you’re confident that you
Can start to swing to the top of your swing let those hands drop here first drop drop drop and then hit and smack I want you to double check that you’ve got the correct turn turns in your back swings too because generally speaking people that are kicking their hand paffs
Out a long way don’t put much turning in their back swing too so any bit of movement of your upper body any turns is going to kick that hand path out away from you so what I want you to check is that you’re making a good turn with your
Hips too get your pocket your right pocket to move back away from you more so a lot deeper and basically uh a great drill for this and I’ll put an overlay of it is put a go a ball against you on the wall and what I want you to do is
Keep that ball against the wall you’ve probably seen this drill before but it’s so good to get your hips turning the right way rather than them shifting and swaying over away from the golf ball and not turning which is going to make your hand path really sort of out and away
From you already and then you’re going to kick it away from you on that down swing twoo this is going to get your hand path a lot deeper by turning properly and then give you loads of space to get those hands dropping on the way down on the start of your down swing
So if you are struggling with the chicken wing don’t try and fix the chicken wing by itself you’ll probably cause yourself an injury tennis elbow golf is elbow don’t know what the difference is again let me the comments down below but it hurts so try not to
Fix just your chicken wing find the course before it’s happened of why it’s happening set yourself up to the golf ball good turns drop those hands drop those hands release that club again more of a draw shape there and then try and put it into a full swing the little pump
Drills can be your practice swings can’t they so before you hit your shot you’re going to get up to the side of your ball and go good turn down here down here down here you can do it behind the golf ball you won’t see me if I do that in
The camera so set yourself up I’ve done my practice Wings I’ve done my practice rehearsals good turns good turns same feels proper swing now green and regulation goodbye chicken wing in your golf swing hello dinner plate you can put AIDS in there if you are extreme and you want to Chuck some

Thanks for this. I started doing a chicken wing just to avoid pull-hooking it OB left. Need to work on that hand movement from the top, glaringly obvious when I video myself.
Tennis elbow and golfers elbow are caused by pain in differing tendons…… Belgian doctor said golf inside elbow, Tennis outside…😊

Nice video, Coach! I would like your opinion on what causes the over the top move. I believe it's because we all know that at the top of the backswing the target is over our front shoulder. So left to figure it out on our own we will naturally want to swing back to the target, which is over the top. 50 years of golf and I still fight that desire to swing at the target.
