Tournament Prep Day 3 – Playing With New Golf Clubs

Cobra Golf have sent me some new golf clubs for 2024, so I played a few holes with them

Driver which I’m actually properly excited about because I’m probably I’m probably just a tiny bit quick for this spec that I’ve got in my driver right now so we got the AO jet playing it 8° 7 and a half or eight and I’ve got the 6X Ventus

Black um in the new setup the new dark speed I’ve got the 8° head set on 6 and 1 half de and I’ve got that with the 7x Ventus black which is an absolute joke so like into wind at the moment when I get it launch in it’s just spinning a

Bit too much and oh I lose a bit of yardage but with this new with this new set X in the dark speed 6 and A2 it just goes forward so like into wind I probably got I don’t know like an extra 20 or something but anyway the wedges in a

Forgiveness and you still got playability they’re soft I mean these irons they’re the best irons I’ve had hands down um and then we also have so the cobra snake bite wedges and I’ve obviously as you can see gone for this dark finish I mean how good does that

Look there’s going to be some perves getting a bit flustered right now right so I’ve gone for 60° with 11° of Bounce just added a bit more bounce this year um and then I’ve got the 48° and the 54 Dee uh so a bit of a gap

Between them but I’m just going to try and get some yardages ding soon um and then the uh slightly lower bounce version in the other two Focus you bastard Focus there we go this is a good review isn’t it wouldn’t see this on rach’s channel Focus you bastard n

Stuck so that thing that I was talking about the other day on the way to East EV in fact it was yesterday I was talking about like the main focus of the round is to go in there um and it was just a mental focus so it was try and get

Analytical before the shot and then when it’s time to actually commit and play the shot just turn the analytical brain off completely and then just go by like feel and trying to almost like react to the Target and just perform um and I was also saying that I had the tendency to

Either go like too intense and too focused where I would be sort of like over analytical um which isn’t actually that bad like pre-shot but then I take it in to the shot itself and be two tense over it and not be freed up and

Then just not be able to perform as a result and then there’s the other way where you can be too relaxed so you’re trying to free yourself up and then you’re just too relaxed pre shot as well so all the analytical stuff that you need to do like you know don’t miss it

Left or you can only hit it this far it’s a back flag can’t go long all of that stuff um you just forget about that as well and end up just playing playing a bit dumb so it actually yeah it really helped and that’s something that I would

Say is something to think about for you lot if you’re trying to you know improve your golf this year or say you got a big tournament uh the best way you know just trying to have like the same mindset for any sort of Tour Tournament that you

Play or any round that actually means something but that um sort of like Get analytical then switch the analytical mind off really helped and I know like Bob rotell has talked about that in golf is not a game of perfect so it’s not like revolutionary but some of these things

That you read you sort of forget about and then you sort of like Discover It Yourself you like come about that um knowledge um we sort of relearn it I guess no duffs right 2 46 trap add 20 266 add 5% for the cold um what I say

Used to so what I’ve done is gone midsize plus two layers and what this does is it it just adds a bit of weight to the grip and to like Risk boring the shis out of you when you add layers layers or add weight to the grip it changes the swing weight

And the swing weight is basically how heavy the club actually feels so more weight in the grip makes the club head feel lighter and when you’re playing a swing weight that’s slightly different from a swing weight you were playing it can just throw you off a bit and throw

Off your timing a bit but after you know a few swings it did start to feel normal so it was probably like a very small change in the swing weight but anyway next week when uh just before I play my Devon Pros event at saon I’m going to

Get him swing weighted budo he’s going to bring up his swing weight machine so yeah proper interestes in stuff really um just golf equipment some people are in into it some people are not but that’s just a part of you need like you need to get your golf equipment it’s

Like a couple years ago I would I was not and I’m still not into it but a couple years ago my golf equipment was all over the place in terms of Swing weight in terms of the actual frequencies of the shaft um I think that’s the stiffness is the the

Frequency is the actual stiffness but it was a bit all over the place and then went to see Joe so Joe the pro you might know has he really knows his when it comes to this kind of stuff and um yeah he made it very clear how important

It was especially for me being fairly high speed uh to get your equipment in the right place and it it especially all sort of like matching you don’t want like your two iron D1 swing weight and your driver D6 you want it all to be sort of around the same place like

Driver and irons can be a bit different but you don’t want to you don’t want massive differences between um between golf clubs is what I’m trying to get up so that’s going to be a part of that’s going to be a part of next Thursday’s video when we go to play saon

In the Devon pros and by that point I’m hoping that I would have got my little action camera and I’ll be able to film way more of the tourn tournament round itself the rest of the clubs from Cobra are on their way so I’ve got the driver
