Starters for the 2024 NBA All-Star game most of them fairly obvious picks uh in the East Giannis embiid Jason Tatum that’s your starting forwards and then Tyrese halberton and Damen Lillard sneaks in there in the back yeah a little surprising I know we’re going to get to picking our actual reserves here

But just any uh takeaways thoughts on the starters there in the East Tas Millis the tie goes to the fans that’s what happened with Damen Lillard because it isn’t just a fans vote that matters it’s 50% fans 25% to the media 25% to the players and there was a tie there

Was a tie the East guards are extremely strong he tied with Brunson specifically jayen Brunson of the New York Knicks uh but the fans the fans picked Lillard first so he gets in yeah we’re going to get to the East guards that’s going to

Be that’s going to be a race um but of course we’re going to get them in all in on the reserves I do believe but for two years we’ve been telling Nicks fans to go uh vote for their guy Jaylen Brunson and it actually you know there was some

Uh impact this year because if he had more votes if he was higher up he got a higher you know love from the players of media he would have been starting but yeah the tie goes to Dame uh what do you think TK yeah like nearly a million more

Votes for Damen Lillard over Jaylen Brunson but I thought Brunson had a great response he’s like Lillard deserves it it’s his first time starting an All-Star game that’s crazy and his numbers they’re still really good they’re not the Damen Lillard and Portland that we’re used to but the

Bucks despite firing their coach this week they’re still second in the Eastern Conference like you can make a case obviously uh for Damen Lillard so um as long as Jaylen Brunson gets a start at some point I think it will be water under the bridge but he took it the

Right way and I kind of agree with what our friend Jason concepion said on Twitter last night uh we elected juliani and Eric Adams New York is not good at voting good point good point uh so okay let’s go to the west then the starters LeBron Kevin

Durant and uh jic are the starters in the forwards position Luca and Shay gilis Alexander will be on the floor when the ball is tipped in the back court so yes all 10 starters have made All-Star games before and uh Shay is maybe the one that surprised some people

That he edged out Luca actually in both the media and player votes and he beat Steph Curry in both category categories and almost caught him in the fan vote so he gets the start there um I guess Edwards beat Steph in the media vote as well that maybe helped uh Shay chances

Uh to get that starting spot too any thoughts on that well Shay being there fantastic stuff just period I think what it comes down to is just getting your name in the All-Star game having that in your credential having that on your resume and Jaylen Brunson better damn be

There in the Eastern Conference and it’s just great to see Shay be there I can understand why Shay trumped Steph in many ways I I get that um although the fans pick Steph and want to see him there he will be picked as a reserve um even though Shay won those other two

Categories uh we will see step there and LeBron set the record for most NBA Allstar selections with 20 yeah that’s absurd two decades I feel like is it does this sound weird because it’s LeBron and we talk about LeBron all the time but like this is not really being

Talked about as much as I think it would be maybe because last year he tied the record and this is just a formality but my God 20 straight years a streak that began in 2005 in his second NBA season and uh here he is starting another one

TK yeah I’m I’m going back and looking at the old pictures of LeBron carrying a PlayStation into a game they’re on a PlayStation 5 now man that’s amazing 20 years of starting in the allstar game and I mean he will be starting until he decides to retire I

Don’t think we’re going to get to a dirk nitzki Zone a Dwayne Wade Zone even a Michael Jordan with the wizard Zone where he didn’t start his last All-Star game until Vince Carter was pressured into starting his All-Star Game it feels like LeBron will just continue leading

The vote until he decides to hang it up okay so that’s the starters again all 10 of these guys uh have made previous All-Star games um you know from LeBron making 19 prior to Shay making one prior but they’re all back in the big game as the starters but let’s get to the

Reserves that’s what everybody wants to talk about get into our debates about who you leave in off who gets in Tass you have the challenge here of the Eastern Conference you’re picking the seven reserves we’re going with the coaches type ballot the two guards three forwards two wild cards um how much did

You struggle with this exercise last night when you were putting together your team oh I got very difficult at the end especially at the end we we’ll get there but at the beginning I think it is a little bit easier start with the two guard spots I started with Don V

Mitchell over Jaylen Bruton how dare I but Don V Mitchell has been fantastic he could have been starting over Damen Lillard in all honesty I picked him over Brunson we’ll get to Maxi a little bit later when it comes to the wild cards but he’s been carrying the Cavs since

The injuries began and look at these numbers he’s become better and more efficient in more of a star role with Darius Garland out and have mle out U but Mitchell has averaging 28 and8 assists and better shooting numbers 59% true shooting percentage since those injuries happened and he’s on the

Seventh highest us usage rate in the NBA so he’s become a superstar anyways he deserves to be there he’s there Jaylen Brunson will take the other guard spot the guy is an absolute machine uh I just love watching him play he barrels into guys to create space every single game

So he’s just fun he may not be the most athletic super duper jump over you but uh the four seat is theirs in New York he’s taking it and he’s the best player on that team so he gets there moving over to the forward spots my first forward I picked was bam

Atab bio because he’s been phenomenal he’s one of the League’s best defenders and then the numbers hello 21 10 and 4.4 assist all career highs shooting 50% from the floor he got over there easily more than uh Jimmy Butler who missed 33% of the Heats games but he was my best

Forward in the Eastern Conference which was a little surprising to me moving on Jaylen Brown is there okay um he’s the second best player on the best team in the conference easily to me I I know porzingis is fantastic I know Derrick White’s been fantastic I know Drew

Holiday has been fantastic on the Celtics but he’s efficient and he defends extremely well so moving on to the third final spot on the on the forwards this was a little tough Randall or Scotty Barnes or Paulo banero it all came down to but uh Randall was the easy

Decision at the end it wasn’t easy I take it back but uh I like the barreling Bros with him and Jaylen Brunson they just Barrel into all of the everybody and uh he’s got incredible scoring and rebounding and efficiency that’s better than Scotty Barnes that’s better than PA

Buero and he’s got more wins so you know it was it wasn’t easy but that’s where it came down to wild cards two more spot we got two more spots here Maxi clearly should be there with the Philadelphia 76ers he deserves to be there he could have been above Brunson or Mitchell if

You if you really wanted but he’s the second best player on the third seed he scores a ton assists efficient plays the most minutes in the freaking League okay now the last one okay the wild card for me at the beginning was Barnes banero or Trey Trey young has had some

Incredible numbers but the first decipher his wins Trey needed to say goodbye uh because he also it comes down to the defender also kicked off Trey on this position in in this scenario here because Barnes is damn good at that banero is damn good at that too actually

The field goal percentage of guys he guards are pretty low the three-point percentage on shots he defends are among the best so came to Barnes or buero Barnes B Carol Barnes or B Caro it was wasn’t easy um so I turned I turned I turned and uh Barnes has more rebounds

Assists steals blocks although B Carrol scores a lot Barnes numbers through all those categories rebounds assist Steels blocks a little surprising better than b Caro he’s way more efficient than b Caro 57.5% to 53.6 6% in true shooting percentage but do wins matter the question just threw Trey young out for

Wins yeah I’m not more than the I’m not done I threw out Trey because he doesn’t defend the way Scotty Barnes does he freaking he’s he is he’s a behemoth on that end blocking shots stealing shots so it really did come down to uh it come

Down to wins the Raptors are 12 games under 500 is it siakam’s fault who who could I blame and put Scott put Scotty Barnes on the team I am taking B Caro it was freaking tough um because Scotty Barnes is damn good but yeah being 12

Games under 500 I know we tend to put guys on starting lineups or I’m sorry On All-Star lineups even if they have losing teams these days um but uh I I I I I guess I deciphered when I saw Barnes on there lots of losses Trey on there

Lots of losses so I went with Banker over him there’s lots of other snubs uh that we’ll get to that should probably just be at Allstar Weekend but anyway okay so p is your final wild card so C there over like you said Barnes Trey young maybe some of those other Celtics

Guys so you remov Jimmy Butler from consideration just uh in terms of only playing like 65% of his team yeah he’s missed a third of his games yeah that’s not good and Chris class Jimmy thing yeah it’s getting it’s getting it’s getting Wilder and Wilder it’s becoming

More straining I think on on his team 33% it’s a lot I know they’re just numbers like he is a great player but I I I put bam on on there because they’re nearly a top 10 defense and it’s all bam um he’s been so good you know I went

With numbers as well when I looked at Christof porzingis oh he’s missed a quarter of the games that’s a lot of games it is a fair amount of games um so they’ll make the second team we’re putting the second team in there just get the snubs there Eastern snubs play

The Eastern Allstar the Western snubs play the Western Allstars then the winners meet at the end because we want a great Sunday I I didn’t even realize that Joe Dumars VP of the NBA he talked to the players before the season and said we need a better Sunday we need a

Better All-Star Weekend Ty Tyrese halber is gonna be there he said the allstar game sucked last year his his first one but Dumar has literally said we talked to players about putting on a great show on the last night on Sunday night actually getting out there and competing that’s what they

Want snubs versus Allstars would be good I don’t know if that’s going to work here kind what they do for rising stars now they got a tournament I love Joe Dumars the disappointed dad of the NBA he just needs to lecture the players every now and then so that we try a

Little bit harder and that’s why went to four quarters that are basically just 12 minutes now they’ve gone away from the the El amending they’re just it’s just a game again MH so just play hard at least for a decent amount of it exactly okay so uh tas’s Eastern Conference reserves

Uh the guards were Donovan Mitchell Jaylen Brunson the forwards bam at a bio Jaylen Brown Julius Randall gets that last spot then you had Tyrese Maxi as a no-brainer wild card and that last one you went back and forth back and forth back and forth but in the end palero is

On T’s teams how did that stack up to your East reserves I assume a lot of similar names but maybe difference yeah yeah yeah six of seven I would say are the same my locks definitely Brunson and Mitchell in the back court my front Court guys bam Jaylen Brown and Julius

Randall and then I also thought Tyrese Maxi is a lock as a wild card so it came down at the end for me to Pao banero just like Tas uh porzingis is in the mix for me cuz I think he might actually be the Celtic second best player but he’s

Missed significant time and he rolled his ankle again last night so not great um but I’m going with Trey young I’m putting him in the numbers are kind of undeniable to me 27 points a game and 11 assists shooting 36% from three he’s given his best effort defensively I

Agree it hasn’t translated to defensive performance for the Hawks or for enough wins for the Hawks but man 27 points and 11 assists yeah that’s hard to to look past uh meanwhile Pao Bano kind of in the same situation he’s got to do everything for the magic he’s at 23 a

Game five assists he’s awesome I really wanted to make a case for Paulo but when I threw it in stat head it just didn’t hold up uh yeah and I I feel like if this was done a month ago it’s a no-brainer pal in but the magic did

Start to slide a little bit I think some of that had to do with fron vogner’s injury yeah Pal’s efficiency started to dip more and more and more so I can see why you struggle to either have them on or off um so you’re going with Trey

Young you get into this whole dilemma here right especially when it comes like to the last couple spots at what point is is it better to have a complimentary player like a Derek white let’s say or a porzingis like a complimentary player on a really good team or the leading man uh

For the lack of a better term on a sort of bad team be it a Trey young be it a Scotty Barnes uh and like those type of guys that’s where you go you know you go back and forth but and then there’s the whole Jimmy Butler thing which I mean if

You’re just saying who’s the best player in the East jimy Butler is going to be on a lot of people’s list but like like last year right similar situation where he missed a a decent amount of time and was left off the All-Star team if I remember correctly um so he’s always a

He’s just his own thing he’s an easy elimination for me because he sucks in All-Star games he does not care at all to be at an allstar game he would rather go on vacation yeah uh and then the only other name I think maybe what about this

Guy that was sort of I guess slipped in there as a as a joke but Pascal cakam the numbers are still good he can’t hit a three to save his life but obviously now on Indiana 22 six and five I mean those are good num numbers this is a a

Really talented player so he’d be the final guy I think that would be in the running Jared Allen also a fantastic season okay okay we will have discussions about him in the defensive player of the year contest he has been phenomenal I think we got to all the

Snubs though okay there you go um let’s move to the Western Conference then and uh Trey you’re leading this one was this more difficult or easier than the East more difficult uh for me I think there are the last spot particularly in both conferences is where it comes down to

Right like think they’re pretty locked in on six players for the most part but there are so many guys who could easily make it in the Western Conference and the cases are pretty hilarious because there’s a lot of mid teams in the western conference with like huge

Numbers like I don’t know what to do with Anthony Davis man this guy’s having one of the best seasons in the league and he’s playing and he’s playing all the time and dominating when he’s out there but the winds aren’t rolling for the Lakers and you know do they get two

All Stars we shall see star in the back court though Steph Curry didn’t get voted in Easy lock for me okay not having his greatest season I blame Draymond few were wins for the Warriors and Steph went into a slump when Draymond was off the court because

Draymond sets Steph up for a lot of his shots uh you saw Draymond and Steph last night doing their thing against the Kings what an incredible game that was but Curry easy you we know he’s going to be there anyways he’s got some other things planned that’s true we’ll that

We’ll get to that later yeah Anthony Edwards you’re an All-Star okay that was easy one best player on the best team in the Western Conference lock him in okay I guess now I have to move to the front Court my only lock in the front Court

Kawh Leonard I feel like there are so many front Court lot of like there’s like a list of like eight guys so you’re like yeah he could be there he six centers easily exactly okay but you have kawhai as a lock as locked in you know definitely a

Slow start to the Clippers season but then once they got their legs under him with James Harden Ka is looked like the best player in the league at times I mean obviously joic is the man but kawai’s throwing it back and the Clippers have been one of the best teams

In the league for basically two months at this point yeah kawhai averaging 24 6 and four shooting 44% from deep and kawhai also never turns the ball over like he never hurts you in that category so and he’s playing like you keep bringing up Tas and he’s actually

Playing in you know back Tob backs and playing a lot of minutes okay so Qui my next two in for the front court that had to make it on Meritt and case Larry marinan wo okay okay 24 points a game eight rebounds two assists he’s shooting 49 from the field 39 from three

87 at the line you’re telling me a guy’s averaging 24 a game on 50 40 90 so feeling very Dirk like feeling very Dirk like I was hoping to see that his record when he played was different than the Jazz’s record when they play

But they’re 23 and 23 and 18 and 18 when Markin in’s on the floor so okay could have been better but he has been great I’m surprised I thought he was going to be a oneandone kind of Allstar and it wasn’t the smoothest start to the season

Uh for marinin but he’s good he’s just a really good player uh next I’m surprising myself on this one damont sabonis je welcome to my All-Star team okay you’re surprising me here with these picks I love it curveballs yeah hey hey heyy sure JD loves the sound of

That uh bonus highest riser for me when I was making my short list I didn’t even put him on the list and then I went and looked at stuff this guy’s averaging 20 points a game 13 rebounds and eight assists he’s leading the league in rebounding shooting 61% from the field

He is shooting 43 from three that’s not really a part of his game but at least he’s knocking him down uh when he gets the attempt sabonis is not one of my favorite guys to watching an All-Star game but he’s there for me right now okayy look numbers are ridiculously

Numbers are crazy yeah yeah it’s like every second game it’s like uh sabonis lead Kings with a triple double T trip dou yeah yeah it’s again there’s I know you’re going to go through a bunch of other names so he’s like that’s the crazy part you ask 10 other people to do

This you know eight other people probably don’t even have sabonis as one of the sort of locks as you called it for your for your front Court position you don’t even have them as a wild card um because there’s just so many guys but uh you got low marinin sabonis and Kawai

There as your forwards weird I mean you do love rebounding so that makesense I do love rebounding uh and I’ll say this damont sabonis best screener in the NBA oh boy come fight me he won the game against the warriors with the screen I’ll explain later all

Right here’s another lock for me as a wild card Devin Booker yeah okay okay I was getting a little nervous there but yeah yeah okay I I got him behind Curry and Edwards in the back court but Booker to me an easy Wild Card pick so does

That add up right that’s three so far four five six I got one last spot yep you’re right it’s tough M yeah Paul George he’s in the mix okay Anthony Davis he’s in the mix yes Rudy goar he’s in the mix sure Carl Anthony towns same

Team he’s in the mix sure Darren Fox he’s in the mix 276 and four alprin shenon they put him in the mix and I’m even throwing chat and wemy in there just cuz it’s fun to discuss them at this point so where do you go where do you go

T I’ve been debating hard my top two choices Paul George and Anthony Davis Anthony Davis better numbers worst team Papa Johns Paul George longtime hater of this guy he’s been straight up dragging the Clippers to some of these wins but I’m staying with all curve balls here

SKS I’m going Rudy goar is my last holy [ __ ] who is this guy man what is wrong with your I don’t know I don’t know defense and an allstar game that is not the Trey cury I know wow look the timber wolves are in first place because

They’re the best defense in the league and he’s is going to win defensive player of the year yeah yes yes that is true we can have one guy out there that cares about defense this is amazing I know what a dumb team I’m picking here

But goar you’re in you’re in for me holy crap so the so the painful ones that get left off dearon Fox Anthony Davis Paul George Paul George yeah Paul George is averaging 266 and4 and his shooting splits are 47 42 and 91 and he’s a great defender still that’s I mean he’s

Basically Kawai those are that’s like kawhai like numbers they’re almost identical that’s a it’s a tough admission but yeah yeah yeah okay anyone else on that ooh tough to leave off you said those three well I think what Trey is sort of building here are good teams that have been good all season

Long but have you know one player you you get shoved in there like low marinin which was a little bit of surprise to bonus only one player from the Sacramento Kings I mean Booker sneaks in has a second son cuz Uh Kevin Durant got in there so

Uh but you don’t want Anthony Davis in there it’s a 500 team I do want Anthony Davis I do really want him in there he team if they were five games over 500 I’d have him over go I think yeah he’s like 25 12 and four and it’s like

Arguably I mean goar will might win the award yes but he is Anthony Davis is still a top three defender in the league you know probably Rudy bam ad maybe and whatever order when you’re looking at the center position and the the numbers are just damn good for Anthony Davis

Obviously played a lot so it’s hard to leave him off but um you know you got to respect the other players the fact that he’s played in 44 games is almost surprising yeah so so how would you differ here in in the Western Conference reserves well well I don’t know um I I

Think I would sneak in Anthony Davis there uh right at the end over Rudy goar okay but I don’t mind the Lowry I don’t mind the sabonis and I like the book especially because book got a little screwed last year because he was a little bit injured he

Deserved to be an all NBA player he deserved to be everything so I like I don’t mind Curry Edwards kawhai Lowry sabonis book and I think I’m going to Anthony Davis sorry Paul George you can set up Podcast p in any hallway and have every NBA player on your podcast but

Paul George gets screwed every year it seems like by by people who pick their picks not necessarily by coaches but everybody I was going to say Paul George’s made a lot of Allstar teams he might make this one too as we’ve debated here previously but everybody keeps him

Off other than the coaches really oh man I guess I I like your I like a lot of your guards that you picked for sure um Steph I am just not at the point yet where I feel comfortable leaving Steph Curry off of an All-Star game so he’s in

Anthony Edwards is a no-brainer I believe Devon Booker is a no-brainer there as a wild card sure Kawai yes it’s then the final three that you had Markin in sabonis and rud it’s like ad Paul George I feel like I maybe have in over a lot of those guys

At least over you know two of them I think Rudy’s out for me sabonis is there and then I go ad Paul George Lowry Markin and I think just started he just started too slow and then the guy is kicking ass recently so timing is everything with this so maybe he gets in

You said Chad he’s like the Western Conference version of porzingis sort of with what he does we didn’t even say the two guys on the Pelicans who are just going to be on the outside looking in I’m so Zion and Brandon Ingram like they’re the classic they’re really good

But 22 a game and this economy and right same thing with Jamal Murray he’s come on late like we talked about but he’s the second best player on on the team cat the fact I don’t mind sneaking in Go I mean yeah Harden has the third man

Option there uh he is the third he is third he’s not an Eastern Conference I’ll say that no um Kyrie Irving has missed a lot of games I do like the fact of sneaking Rudy in there because Timber rolles are still the one seat in the

Western Conference so to put two guys in there I know it’s just traditional crap get a second guy in there but he’s damn good um towns Town’s numbers are freaking phenomenal and at 22 points the the percentages are ridiculous he’s having a career-high three-point percentage in his career almost 44% the

Best seven foot shooting guy in the freaking NBA the problem is though if ANS a no-brainer which he seems to be for everyone yeah and then it’s like it’s like cat or Rudy sort of cannibalize each other a little bit I think and so then you’re just left going

Well maybe I’ll just leave them both off and go some other some other way uh and some other guy that’s deserving to yeah it’s tough It’s very very difficult uh I know people are uh sounding off here in the Stream team let us know in the

YouTube comments tweet at us uh who we got right who we got wrong how we did explaining all that cuz it gets really confusing too let’s be honest when we got three guys trying to pick their teams we aged on some but yeah um is ad

Stacking up wins against they’re 9 and against the magic Hawks hornets and wizards you should be winning those games that’s how they’re doing it their best wins this season they beat the Lakers twice fully healthy Lakers that’s nice they smoked the Cavs in Cleveland but no Donovan Mitchell no bam for the

Heat and then they beat the 76ers without embiid they don’t have a ton of quality wins and I can’t tell if I’m just getting suckered and rope doed once again by the Miami Heat or is this team actually stinky I mean are they going to have to come out of the play in
