Honestly, Bayer Leverkusen have the opportunity to do the most outrageous thing possible this year. And Harry Kane knows it. Bayern Munich have won the Bundesliga for 11 years in a row. They aren’t having a bad season at all right now either. 44 points after 18 games played.

To put that number into context, this is enough points to put Bayern above the team in second place after 18 games. in each and every season over the past 11 years. Of course, Bayern themselves were far above that threshold on numerous occasions, which led to them winning it the entire time.

But I’m sure you get the point I’m trying to make. This year, they’re the ones not up to pace. Bayer Leverkusen just continue to push on. And quite frankly, I think a lot of people that don’t usually pay attention to the Bundesliga are starting to do so because of it.

What Xabi Alonso is doing is unbelievable. He also just might be the very worst thing to ever happen to Harry Kane. If this man fails to win a trophy with a team that’s won the league for 11 years straight, Yo, what is going on everyone, really hope you’re all doing well, I’m

Tinashe, welcome back to the channel. Something big went down a couple weeks ago, and I don’t think as much has been made of it outside of Germany as it should have been. I’ve been in Austria for the past couple of weeks, so I’ve been catching all the news. Bayern Leverkusen were officially crowned.

The Herbsmeister, which directly translates to Autumn Champions. An unofficial, non existent trophy for the team at the top at the halfway point of the season. An incredible feat no doubt about it, but also one that doesn’t really mean all that much when we look at it in context.

As in the past decade or so in Germany. It also doesn’t really mean all that much when we consider the fact that this isn’t the first time that this has happened for Leverkusen. They’ve been top after 18 games on a few occasions.

Back in 2009 was the most recent, the worst of which was, of course, 2002. Champions League runners up, DFB Pokal runners up and Bundesliga runners up. By one point, that right there is nightmare fuel for anyone that supports any club. The Vizekusen or Neverkusen nickname is gonna be thrown around regarding

Nevikusen right up until the very last day of the season, regardless of how the table is looking, you have to feel. Although the form these guys are producing right now is the exact polar opposite of their fortunes over the past while.

They’re the only team in the Bundesliga that haven’t been defeated so far. They’re the only team in the top 5 leagues that hasn’t been defeated so far. And. It’s even more than that, they just haven’t lost, at all, in any competitions whatsoever, DFB Pokal, Europa League or Bundesliga.

It’s almost like they should change their name to, Never Losing. I’d understand if you clicked off the video. Please don’t though. The best defense in the league, with only 14 conceded. Just 3 shy of the best attack in the league. Just 1 goal separates them in goal differential between them and Bayern.

4 points clear. It’s gonna sound a bit cliche, because it is. But their past 2 games have literally been the epitome of what it takes to become champions. And they’ve had some really good value for these wins too. They’ve had The entire spectrum when it comes to the types of wins.

We’ve had, you know, grinding out results, convincing high scoring wins, late dramatic winners too. Even further, these past two games have been the ultimate examples of that last one. Augsburg and RB Leipzig. Against Augsburg, they were lucky on a few occasions.

I’ll spook at the post, there were one or two offside calls, a shock result could have happened. But Leverkusen ultimately controlled proceedings, as they have done essentially throughout the entire season. They left it late, with Ezequiel Palacios scoring a winner in the 94th minute. Leipzig was a whole different kind of challenging.

They took the lead twice in this match, and were dangerous throughout. Xavi Simmons was having an unbelievable game, scoring the first after doing a little bit of juggling of the ball, and then playing a crucial ball before Leipzig’s second. He sadly injured himself going in for a slide tackle, but

He seems to be doing okay. Leverkusen came back twice to come out 3 2 winners, with yet another late winner rescuing them. Piero Hincapie this time. The team are firing at a good pace, with some real standouts too.

Alejandro Grimaldo has to be up there with the best signings of the season so far. And he was free. Florian Wirtz is on his game. Palacios, Hoffman, Frimpong, Tah, Xhaka, Boniface, the list goes on. Alonso has managed to get the best out of all of them.

And if they manage to keep this going, Bayern Munich just might not be able to maintain pace. Before last weekend, Werder Bremen had failed to win against Bayern at the Allianz since 2008. Before last weekend, Bayern Munich hadn’t failed to score at the Allianz since 2020.

We didn’t look like a team who wanted to win the title. For the umpteenth time this season, and really since he’s taken charge over at Bayern Munich, Thomas Tuchel was questioning why his team hadn’t performed the way they had in training when it really mattered.

Which was of course during their 1 0 loss. to Werder Bremen. There was a lot of talk about how the team had trained really well during their mid January training session in Faro, Portugal. How they’d been entering a new, renewed sense of concentration going into the second half of the season.

It didn’t look to do the trick though. In contrast to Leverkusen, Bayern Munich have now lost two games this season. Which, again, really isn’t that bad. Like I said at the start of the video, this isn’t dreadful at all. The only problem is that there’s a team that’s better than them, number

One, and number two, They’re being haunted by the success of their past. It’s kind of like Erling Hall in this season. The man has scored 14 goals in 15 games this year. That’s unreal. Wait, wait, wait, what’s that? He scored 18 goals in 15 last season? Never mind, he’s washed.

Call it in, boys. The same thing can be said about Mohamed Salah just about every season, and the same thing was said about Cristiano just about every season when they were at the top of their games. However, I will say that there is probably something to be said about

Bayern Munich and the situation that they find themselves in right now. Having said that, I am aware that they did win their match against Union Berlin to cut down that points gap to 4 points. That was their game in hand, so now everything’s on par, but I want to

Talk about this from the perspective of their previous match against Bremen. Now I watched that game closely because I really wanted to see how they would respond to Leverkusen’s comeback win against Leipzig. And what I saw were the differences between a team that knew what they were

Doing and executing the plan and a team that knows how to execute the plan. Just weren’t doing it. And I’m using this game as an example, but this has happened a couple times to them this season. There was no cutting edge to the attack.

There was no urgency in the penalty area or the final third for the opposition. If you compare that to Leverkusen, who are a team that every week are playing as if the title depends on it, which it does, And then you see the difference between 1st and 2nd right now.

And I’m not just saying that because my expectations were high after watching Leverkusen and Leipzig. Bayern of course aren’t helped by the fact that players like Kim Min jae, Dayot Upemacano and Serge Gnabry are all out for various reasons. Although, I don’t think it’s anything that Eric Dier can’t fix.

Thomas Tuchel is already rumored to be close to the chopping block, but is apparently only being saved thanks to fears that his firing will cause internal instability. All I’m saying is that Bayern Munich vs Bayer Leverkusen on the 10th of Feb is gonna be some match.

We all know that Bayern Munich are no strangers to bouncing back after facing criticism. We saw that last night. And they have the most prolific striker with them in all of Europe, whereas Leverkusen are gonna be without Victor Boniface until at

Least, I think it’s April, after he was injured during training with Nigeria. Plus, we all know what pressure can do to a team that isn’t familiar with a season long race. I wish them all the best. In other Bundesliga news, Jadon Sancho has slotted right back into the starting lineup for Borussia Dortmund.

Not only that, but he’s performing like he hasn’t been on football hiatus since August. He’s registered an assist in both of his first two starts after being back with Dortmund, and I gotta say, that’s phenomenal. I can’t really speak too much on his performances because I

Didn’t watch his matches, but it looks like he’s coming right. Fair warning to all Man United fans, if Jadon Sancho continues to perform alright over the next couple of weeks and months. We’re going to be seeing a lot of revisionism around him, you know, how

There was no attitude problem, how there was nothing wrong, all that sort of stuff. You know what, who knows who to believe, who knows if any rumors at all are any true, but just be ready for it. Ian Maatson was way too good to be eating bench at Chelsea, so it’s good

To see that he’s gotten off to a good start with Dortmund while on loan too. Again, never watched the match, so don’t really have much to say about him and his performances, but I did watch him at Chelsea and thought he was decent, so I’ll be watching.

I don’t really have much analysis or thoughts to talk about when it comes to him, but just wanted to mention that. And there we have it. Hope you guys enjoyed, little mini update about the Bundesliga, uh, let me know what you think in the comments below, feel free to subscribe, feel free to,

You know, follow the socials, all that. That’s all for me today, hope you guys enjoyed, hope you’re having a great day, cheers and I will catch you in the next one.

  1. Could you cover the Austrian Bundesliga? I'm an Austria Vienna fan and think a lot of the teams in this league deserve coverage

  2. The fact that Maatsen is so young and immediately plays in a team like Dortmund as if he has never done anything else is very impressive. Makes me excited to be Dutch with so much talent at the moment

  3. Hey there! I'm subbed to only 2 football channels, and yours is one of them. Love your content! And especially love your content that is not about prem 😉 So, I selfishly suggest, when ManU sucked again, instead of making another one about it, just watch other leagues for distraction and do a vid about that.
just joking, I know it's hard to do all the research. keep it up!

  4. This was a great video, keep up with the fab content. Looking forward to seeing all the amazing things you will do in 2024 ❤

  5. I've been a Dortmund fan for 15 years, but since we won't have anything to do with the title race this year anyway, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for our neighbours from Leverkusen.
It just fills me with joy to see Xabi succeed, I really hope he can achieve something this season and win titles.

  6. I liked Alonso as a player, and now seeing him taking Leverkusen so high is amazing. I believe every football fan except for Bayern & Spurs fans wants to see them win. I like Kane too, but it's time for a new winner in this league

  7. Please make a video on Barcelona's academy. I've never seen so many youngsters pop out of nowhere as starters and deliver.

  8. What about PSV? They have won all of their games, not even drawn any of them, this is a misleading title.

  9. As a football fan, seeing Leverkusen finally end Bayern's reign of terror would just be very refreshing and enjoyable.

As an Arsenal fan, seing Harry Kane lose out on yet another – and probably the easiest – title opportunity of his life, truly setting his curse in stone, would be as Martin Tyler once said, "The cherry on the icing on the cake"

    You got this Leverkusen

  10. they are not winning yet, they arent having injuries
just wait for the domino effect
the schedule right now favors them, a lot

  11. 2:09 As if the madness wasn't enough, 5 Leverkusen players went on to lose the World Cup Final with Germany as well, including Michael Ballack, who didn't play in that Final because of the yellow card suspension he received during the previous game against South Korea. However, Lucio played for the winning side, Brazil.

Bayern Munich also suffered this similar fate 10 years later. They lost both Bundesliga and DFB Pokal Final to Jurgen Klopp's Borussia Dortmund, as well as the Champions League to Chelsea, which is even more heartbreaking as they played the Final in Allianz Arena.

  12. I'm waiting for 11 years for bayern to be dethroned, I believe it when it actually happens.

  13. Sancho struggling playing at United then performing well at BVB should be more a reflection to how Jadon handles 'big club' pressure more than any talk revisionism of his time at United. He simply has not lived up to the hype. His 'ability' to redeem himself instantly away from England, United, the spotlight essentially, proves this.

  14. This is a win win type of video

If they go on to do it its an early call

If they don’t, it’s preserved as a reminder of how good they got
