Yeah so you’re leading the charge of the LA guys coming down here and ripping up uh Tory Pines yeah I mean I just I grew up in Los alos so not too far up the road about an hour and a half or so and uh
You know it’s always nice to be back in Southern California how have you generally played here Tory Pines it’s been a little while since I’ve played here uh in the farmers I played the US Open was the last time I played around here um and I played Soo at the US Open
Uh obviously different conditions this week it’ll be a lot more wet this week and so uh the score should be quite a bit lower but you know you play the play The Golf Course from the Fairway and you can have a bunch of chances around here what were the highlights of your round
Today I thought I played the par fives pretty well um you know I three putted one par five which which was you know kind of a bummer but I hit the ball very solid played from the Fairway a lot which really gave myself a lot of opportunities to make birdie
Today I know it’s I know you guys adjust every week according to course conditions and weather and what have you but is it particularly drastic going from Lita to here I don’t think so I I mean I grew up in Southern California so I’m kind of used to the difference um
You know the golf courses are definitely different and scoring this week will be especially with the rough how it is um it’ll be a lot more difficult than it was last week but you know growing up uh and being comfortable around both both places um you know happy to be here and
And be on some po anag grass how would you characterize the rough this week compared to when you were here for the open good question when the when the rough is as wet as it is it makes it it more difficult you know it’s harder to get
The golf ball to go cuz the the water gets in the way um but the rough the rough is classically long here I don’t think I’ve played this golf course ever really when the when the rough rough short so um you know there there’s definitely a penalty for missing the
Fairway and like I said today I played a lot from the Fairway so hope to keep that up uh Patrick 7 under 65 to finish with the lead today what were your general thoughts on the round I thought I played well off to a nice start um obviously
The North Course is a little more scorable so glad to get that done and now three more on the south um but off to a good start and happy with it aw how did all the rain that the golf course has taken this week affect your uh strategy through the golf course
Today I think it allows you to take on a few more of the whole locations just because the ball’s going to hit and stop um and I think overall the scores will be lower this week because of how wet it is and lastly you mentioned last time
You played in this event was 2019 what led you this year to put it back on your schedule yeah the schedule just changed a little bit and um you know they changed the order of some of the tournaments and it just it worked out good awesome thank you all right thank
You oh yeah last question sorry um Hawaii and then California swing how important is it for you in your game to find a rhythm early in the season yeah for sure I mean it’s nice starting the year in Maui uh no better place and and then to come back here to
California for for a nice stretch a number of tournaments on golf courses that I’m comfortable with it’s always nice to start off the year here all right thank you thanks
