Luke Donald has appointed Edoardo Molinari as his first Vice Captain for the 2025 Ryder Cup which will be played at Bethpage Black, New York, USA from September 26-28, 2025.
Molinari will return to Donald’s backroom team after a highly-successful stint in the role for the 2023 Ryder Cup in his native Italy, where Team Europe secured a memorable 16 ½ – 11 ½ victory against the United States at Marco Simone Golf and Country Club.

It’s something that I’m very proud of extremely excited to to go to Beth Page the last time was the first time I was a Vice Captain and means I’ve done a decent job and I provided something useful for the team I’m very honored very proud and and
Of course I’ll do anything I can to help Europe win Again I think you know having Eduardo back on the team was a very easy decision for me he was such a a huge help to me uh for last year’s Rider cup I think out of all the vice captains I certainly talked to him the most just
Because of his role the role that he plays in terms of strategy in terms of statistics you know and I think he’s a very natural selection to to get on board very early on in the process cuz again we’ll have to go through a lot of that stuff uh over the coming
Months there is nothing quite like Friday morning and the first tea at the Ryder Cup Rome was unbelievable to be honest because uh obviously we were clear underdogs uh going into the event and we were able to get off to a fast start a winning start 4-0 in the first morning
And all of a sudden uh the week changed completely and the crowds were unbelievable from from day one uh I think all our players had a lot of fun they played some unbelievable golf I don’t believe that that is just unbelievable and it was just uh one of the best week
Of my life on a golf course even if I didn’t hear the golf shot dodo was hugely significant looking at the potential team and what those strengths were and how to best fit those strengths with the golf course that was important and then you know looking over
All the possible pairings who might go with who and it’s it’s complicated but you know I think between us we we uh we had a great uh plan put together and you know Eduardo was really Paramount to a lot of that and it is Europe who wrestled back the Ridder cup here in Rome I really enjoyed working with Luke for Rome it was a very busy 12 month cuz it was only named in August so there was like 13 month and we had a lot of things to do this time is the opposite cuz we have a lot of time in our hands uh
Probably a little bit less things to do because we we’ve done it once already we know how certain things will work uh so we can prepare well ahead of time and then you need to to adapt because it’s a it’s a different Rider cup it’s an away
Rider cup and hopefully will be good fun we won’t be able to do anything with a core setup like we did the last time but the there are other areas where we can improve what we did and and yeah we had a few discussions already with Luke
And I think uh we’re on we’re on a good path we became really good friends um you know over the last 18 months or so leading up to Rome and um you know I’m happy to share this journey again for the next couple years I think you know everyone that was
Part of that team it was something we’ll always remember um but to have this opportunity and this challenge to try and do it away I think both of us are very motivated and uh eager to try and uh do what’s you know very very difficult to do and that’s that’s
Winning a way rider cup I’m really looking forward to it I know it would be a lot of uh discussions and conversations and talks with guys with Luke with the other Vice Captain players but it’s uh it’s very exciting and I can’t wait oh
