Think part of our frustration is that we have we haven’t got the bulk runs like Australian feeds on runs that’s what happens here and we haven’t got the bulk runs cuz they’ve all been kind of I mean sporting would be a maybe more polite term for it I
Mean that none of them have been like shocking but I think it’s just been he been hard to score the decks for the Pakistan series were really good you know they offer something for everybody uh so only 200s in the summer what was what was Perth Perth was

The captain you’re going to throw in the ball when the tails in because he balls rapid in swingers that they’re afraid of so that will help you take wickets which is generally the idea and actually minimize the amount of runs the other team scored so I totally get it but just
Hazel Hazelwood is I just get the feeling the um the quality of batters he’s getting out are of a very very high standard and I think that matters you know who who he knocking over where they’re batting I think specifically with Stark and Hazelwood because cumins has always been like the best bowler
When he’s been in the team and then obviously line plays his role and the amount of wickets is just unbelievable wherever he finishes up he going to be incredible um but like I was looking at um like so star has got a better record he’s got a better average and a better
Strike rate than Mitchell Johnson now Mitchell Johnson when he was in the team like obviously he was um he had some tough years but then he came back and had some great Summers especially here but like he was always the best bowler on the team Mitch Johnson Australia
Relied on him so heavily he was the strike force he was also the um the most stable player in the team regular fixture in the side if he bowled well straight would often win but Stark is like star is kind of your your raw sex
On the side you know like it’s just like okay we can we can allow for this because of the accuracy and the consious affair oh yes sizzling but then but then he’s but so like if St play in a different era he would be like our absolute standout star
But now but now he BS a couple of bad spells he’s like look a little bit slingy isn’t hez might be the same thing if HZ would played if he was the lead bowler in any other generation just about he’d be like this this guy be one of the all-time
Greats maybe maybe he would have to do more donkey work and you know bowl a little bit slower or within himself and you know maybe it’s not like the the core just completely complement each other it’s just not missing anything anything you want you know come has it
At his disposal and now he’s got two [ __ ] all rounders in green and Mitch Marsh to to to hand the ball to as well so it’s still not enough somehow I still don’t like it but uh but all the best to him a touching tribute to Shamar Joseph’s Debo
There um yeah anyway so he Hitman kaaga uh with about one run to win I think um in the fourth Innings there hit him in the jaw got him under the grill that was ugly um but I think he’s going to be well it seems like he’s going to be okay
Uh by all reports um in terms of to play in the Gaba test match starting on Thursday um so that’ll sort of um I guess negate any conversation about well you know does does renw come in is he going to be able to play for the heat again it’s selfish selfish from this
Team and these players who are hanging on I do think that will become a theme in the next couple of years like you can just see the there there are people with you know guns in the holsters ready they’re waiting for this team you to Creek but uh yeah

Before when was that I don’t know no no no New Zealand no they played ad like the first pink po test was in was it I don’t think it was I don’t think it was England I don’t think it was India so we’re looking at maybe yeah was the West

A Shield Season before next summer and whoever the guys at that time does really well then there’s going to be some calls to to make those changes but it’s almost like even that that that sample size of what would been for test for Smith opening batting by then it’s
Really too small you know like if you were giving a uh if you were giving an upstart um someone a chance in the team gave them four tests maybe six or seven Innings the way Australia’s been playing at the moment not really getting much of a go to about twice consistently anyway
But um uh you know that’s that’s way too small so but then what do you do because then it’s such a big series IND you obviously won the last two series out here they always play really well in Australia whether they win the series or
Not they always give us a game much more consistently anyway than what England have really in this um in this Century um since the year 2000 I mean they obviously won um tremendously in 2010 11 where they won three games by Innings um but apart from that it’s been pretty
Grim for England out here so uh India is like the hardest series that Australia faces now like so you know coming to these questions same thing with Cameron green I mean there’s just so much promise there so much upside but you said this before like guys international
Cricket win games for their country at the age of 24 which is what C gr is shman Gill Harry Brooks 24 as well you know um it’s not that young now is the time I mean he look they they’d give him five years before you know they they
They put the Que in the rack with green but um I just I guess like you I guess you want to start seeing some results don’t you but and this was the thing with Warner like these things become problems if the team is losing matches you know if if
There’s a correlation between those performances and losing games like if that it’s one of the upsides of having great players around you is it gives you time to to bet in and settle in and like they’ve won every game this summer so sure you look at it and you go that’s

Be tested you know but the other thing about the Australian side is that they they step up when the you know the the competition gets tougher you know that’s when you see them at their best uh generally speaking so yeah it’s test criet you know you got to you got to
Deliver I I think Steve Smith’s every chance at the moment I think they should give him some long rope to to get there but who knows down the track you know if he if he continues to struggle then perhaps The Narrative will be as he goes into retirement that he was just having

Around people going crowd’s being up short of competition things going well so I want to just issue that as a caveat first up all I want to say though that just um gets me down is that in like any team that reaches the final of any competition that sees their
Own team Sha of its best players because they have chosen to play another competition um you know is any person following those teams is entitled to be disappointed now there’s a complex landscape that leads to that happening but if I’m a fan that’s not really my problem and
Particularly when you are um presenting a competition as a wealthy Nation within Cricket I think fans are entitled to expect that the players who have been their best players namely overseas players are around for the finals and I know that a lot of these players are saying the same think uh but ultimately
That it’s it’s money and food on the table so just none of the teams in the finals Can field their best 11s right with the scorches for example Ashen Turner got injured that’s a he’s he’s a homegrown player but Lori Evans is their gun uh can’t play ilt2 Adelaide um no
Chris Lynn ilt2 no Jamie overon who’s basically their best player this year golf Giants no Adam H desert vipers Scorch has lost Lori Evans as said Sixers lost James Vince who’s been one of their best players the last couple years golf Giants Tom carar and desert vipers heat loss Colin Monroe the
Captain and Sam Billings again to the iel T20 uh it’s just just hurts you know like and there are there are no Solutions being offered here other than like BBL would love the best players available to play from Australia and overseas can that be ached out what pain
Um what sacrifices need to happen what pain needs to be gone through uh anyone who’s Keen to learn more about that really great piece from Matt roller on Crick info um getting into the weeds a little bit around the increase in the BBL salary cap but that it still can’t
Compete with the IL T20 in terms of the size of the salary cap um but not just that the length of the tournament so IL 20 done in four weeks um Lori Evans goes on in this piece to say that uh there was still a lot of time lost in the BBL
This year they think they can crunch it even more that’s that’s generally the view of the players and that the il20 gets their contract signed earlier than the BBL uh due to the bbl’s dra I believe please look at the piece um also also security for those players as well
Cuz often the BBL contract is one year exactly and and I think Billings made that point on Twitter as well you know there’s no guarantee in the draft that you’re going to get picked up either so you want to get that security of being signed up um that’s some x’s and o’s
Nuance stuff there’s a bigger there’s there’s you fly 50,000 ft and there are other questions that come into play but again just goes to show I think uh the you know the the the competition from both sides on the Australian summer with footy on one side and then these other
Franchise tournaments with better security and more money um are serving to undermine the opportunity for the BBL to have its best players available at the end of the year so we’re not even talking about like um access to the best overseas players we’re talking about overseas players who’ve been part of the
Competition for a long period of time that then those fans lose when they need the most uh I I appreciate the complexity for BBL organizers it’s not to say that they haven’t thought of these things but just goes to show how much pressure is being exerted from franchise tournaments overseas you know
And uh that the players are going to follow the secure and quantity of money uh and I think it’s upon the BBL to fix that well maybe not on top of that look at like brisen he had a fantastic year only lost well they lost two games now
For the year but before the finals they’ um only lost one game incredible record of the Gaba people getting behind there in pris as well and they they get to the finals and they’re playing these two knockout games must-win games for them um on the goal Coast because the test
Match is being played at the gabar so the Test match needs like a full week or something beforehand before the Test match Starts Now the Test match is against a significantly diminished test side that really has um it’s it’s very very difficult for these test Nation to
See how it turns around again yeah there’s some ideas about like you know sharing money and um you know communal wealth generally speaking but like yeah I don’t really see how that happens so so like so then so then what then it’s almost like what’s the point plus on top
Of that you got 13 guys in the Australian setup who surely like just must be playing they must be playing the big bash but it’s hard it’s it’s it’s hard to figure like um the the right solution out in the meantime other domestic competitions around the world they’re just pushing their window
Encroaching into the big bash and then and they’ve now got Indian IPL ownership money they’re going to offer more money for a shorter for a shorter time uh a short of playing time are the sa2 and the ilt2 so if I’m a player it’s like more
Money less work right and on top of that as like Lori Evans points out in in Matt Roller’s excellent piece uh the places the teams he plays for have the opportunity if he plays well in each of these leagues to continue on to other tournaments owned by those franchises so
For Lori for example he could get a contract in this is per roller um in the US with Los Angeles Caribbean with Trin Bago um even in India Kolkata down the line there’s no equivalent with the scorches I’ve noticed that the rhetoric from cricket Australia and another shout out
To um our mates the final word who interviewed Nick hawkley recently Cricket Australia’s radi at least Hawley is that uh these are less questions about money and more a question about scheduling you know if you can find some um scheduling intelligence he’s not talking about 4day tests necessarily but
If you can kind of um find the right way to get all of this in then maybe everybody can be happy and Nick Hawley knows way more about the EXs and those of this than we do but it just occurs to me that like if we cram the Australian
Summer even more to make everybody happy won’t these leagues just expand further you know they they’ll these franchises will keep expanding so long as they can offer more money and more security uh it’s it’s just so difficult to see with the monopolization of the schedule with these um many of them privateers who
Just have steam train level cash compared to the bicycle you know that that Australia is offering at the moment that they won’t continue to encroach that Australia’s summer will will shrink we’re getting caught behind yeah and and and a 4-day test that’s that’s well and good that might open a few opportunities
For other countries to play and then creating more time but won’t the domestic tournaments as a like a as a as a capitalist monopolistic reflex continue to expand unless some kind of um regulation is enforced on when there are Club windows and when there are international windows that are
Irrefutable you know will that not just spawn further like um unofficial tournaments or something question for test won’t solve the problem that like these T20 franchises how much money they make their their national boards that that that that won’t change and and these T20 franchises has got to be clear
They’re not run by the BCCI like the IPL is a 50/50 between the franchises and the BCCI so the franchises people who own these franchises these privateers they don’t have any um you know uh policy or principle driven um responsibility or obligation to the good of the game or format you know they
Their their like operating principle would be bottom line p&l for their country and in increasing the value of their investment you know if that means um you know climbing into to to test crickets time which they’re already shown they’re prepared to do they’ll continue to do it right so the next two
Summers in Australia are big summers in the ter in the terms of um 10 tests against India and England and then we’re going to bury our head in the Sands being bury our heads in the sand again being like yeah see this is good this is really good and important but the
Reality is these Summers that we’re having right now that’s a reality for most people in world cricket after the ashes in 2025 I guess it must be that summer after that it’s three tests against New Zealand three tests against South Africa no like what kind of state South Africa
