And then there’s Kota ibushi who wrestled Naomi Mara Fuji at the pro wrestling Noah New Year show in a 33 minute match that was one of the saddest things I’ve seen in a very long time uh I have not seen the full 33 minutes but I saw several minutes of highlights I
Don’t even know if that’s really the right word to use to describe what I saw uh but it was more than just a couple of minutes of the match one week before this match ibushi claimed to have a broken ankle and a broken right
Hand and if we take him at his word and that he wasn’t just exaggerating a broken ankle and a broken right hand so he had no business being in the ring to begin with if he had a broken ankle and a broken right hand now guys have wrestled with broken hands
Before but a broken ankle especially for someone who likes to leave his feet and do moons salts is a very bad idea to everyone not named Kota ibushi he did a moonsault to the floor during the match and in doing so he injured both of his angles and he looked
Even worse as the match went on until he won 33 minutes in he won with a kamag go and then he slowly collapsed on top of Mara Fuji and pinned him after the match they sent Kaio kiia and Jake Lee out to the ring Lee bowed to ibushi and then he
Put his hand out in Emotion for him to leave the ring because he wouldn’t leave or maybe he couldn’t leave and when he got to the back ibushi was in so much pain he couldn’t even do any postmatch interviews so they called an ambulance for him and they took him to the
Hospital and on Friday ibushi tweeted and and this is translated now but this is what he tweeted I was scammed by a place called C5 Clinic which is spread all over the country as I’ve mentioned before take care of yourself please I think Noah will release information about my surgery fractures and
Dislocations Etc I’m sorry for the game everyone it’s all my fault and then he tweeted again on Friday night sorry for the late contact I’m sure Noah will give you more details but I would like to inform you that the inside of my left ankle was quite a mess
So I decided to have surgery on the right ligament I think there will be a release soon I’m really really sorry Noah then posted on their uh their own page a statement the following day that reads as follows it’s titled Kota ibushi’s recent diagnostic results Cod ibushi who sustained an injury at pro
Wrestling Noah’s araki Arena event on January 2nd has been diagnosed with a right tibiofibular ligament tear and a right ankle lateral ligament complex injury as a result of a more thorough examination than his initial diagnosis ibushi is scheduled to undergo another detailed exam mination of his left leg
And to concentrate on treatment we will inform you of his progress as soon as we know more we apologize for any inconvenience and concern this may cause our fans and other concerned parties as we ask for their cooperation and understanding in light of the situation thank you very
Much didn’t say anything about surgery in there it just said that he will have another examination and then they will I guess decide on treatment I looked up this C5 Clinic that he mentioned there’s a website for it if it’s the one that he’s referring to there’s a website for it that says
They provide human atopos derived stem cell treatment for regenerative medicine which would seem to indicate that he underwent some type of stem cell treatment to try to avoid having surgery now he calls it a scam I don’t know how he didn’t explain it could be that he tried an alternative treatment
And it didn’t work or maybe they did deceive him in some way we we don’t know this this all could have been avoided if he would have just had surgery from day one this is not the same Coda ibushi that we saw in his last New Japan match
Against okado when he HT his shoulder on the Phoenix Splash he crashed and burned and they had to called the finals off of the G1 he never had surgery to repair it he wanted to rehab it and avoid surgery and has not been the same since he would
Give these updates online and you know months had gone by you would think okay abushi is on the road to recovery and he’ll be back soon and by that point he should have been well on the road to recovery and instead he would post these updates and say oh my shoulder is
Getting worse and he has no strength in his arm and it’s like dude just get the surgery but he never did and when he finally came back he was not the same Tony KH signed him and brought brought him in last year for blood and guts he
Didn’t look great but you could chalk it up maybe to ring rust he had worked two matches in two years by that point he looked a little bit better I thought it all in in the tag match that he did but Tony KH has avoided using him in singles
Matches and now he he should not be back in the ring at all until he gets these injuries addressed you know I know he’s been freelancing and I I don’t know what his financial situation is but he did sign a contract with aew and I’m sure that if
He had to take an extended break to heal himself he would be taken care of he should not feel like he has to get back in the ring he may want to get back in the ring but someone needs to step in here and be a friend and say no you
Can’t do this you need to take care of yourself because this man is His Own Worst Enemy he’s apologizing he’s saying oh it’s all my fault he’s he’s blaming himself I I want to sit the man down and say to him you don’t have to apologize
Just get better and if he can do that when he’s ready to come back whether it’s 6 months a year year and a half from now people will want to see the kod abushi comeback story but the ring is the last place that he should be right now even before
This he was hurt he admitted that he’s been working hurt he’s been working through all sorts of injuries that’s an old wrestling mindset that needs to die and I’d rather it die then him die in the ring going out there and killing himself for people’s entertainment there is nothing entertaining about watching
Kod abushi in the state that he’s in

New Japan officials said to Ibushi. He should finally have an operation. But he always said to New Japan that he wanted to do things differently. I hope he's clear-headed now and can have surgery. That the operation is necessary
Piss poor state of the medical teams within the company. I think there needs to be more in house care and responsibility towards performers.
Wrestlers like Kota Ibushi are the type of idiots that internet fans and the likes of Dave Meltzer glorify when they're not good. They hurt themselves and their opponents for real cause they wanna be stiff and reckless even though wrestling's a complete work, and they do stupid stuff like wrestling in junkyards. The only person to blame is Kota himself as he's a fool. MJF used to have the right mentality telling wrestlers not to kill themselves for online fans, and then he fully contradicts himself and now his hip is worse than an old lady's.
How are injured wrestlers cleared to wrestle what kind of indy show is this?🤷
Ngl the more I see of Ibushi the less I like him. The level of recklessness and the fact that NJPW doesn't seem to stop their performers from doing dangerous spots, I'm looking at Naito.
The rate of speed these clowns perform in NJPW circus, injuries and wrestling fits perfectly like a hand in glove.
Really miss 90s and mid 2000s wrestling in japan.
Kota Ibushi is totally shot. Needs to retire.
His appearance is embarrassing. He used to look like a greek god and now he is fat, out of shape and can't work. Sad to see from one of my all time favorites.
Do you do mailbag questions. Any time stamps in your live videos.
He is a 41 year old man. If he knew he had broken bones than he should had never stepped in the ring.
It's truly sad how far Kota Ibushi has fallen.
When I saw him at Blood and Guts, I was like “he put on some weight, what happened to him?”
I don't think I've ever seen a wrestler fall apart as fast as Ibushi. It's like years of abusing his body in the ring caught up with him overnight.
He’s definitely not the same performer he was 5 years ago. It’s quite sad as he’s one of best in ring performers within the last 20 years.
Just the thumbnail alone too as his physique has suffered as well. When he came out in that tag match in aew I was like wtf happened to Ibushi?! He uses to look great!
Kenny and Kota have fallen down so bad with these injuries. Just sucks
As i fan of Ibushi i really want to see him get the necessary surgical treatments and get healthy
I haven’t seen the match but Ibushi should not have wrestled and did all the reckless moves to his feet. NOAH shouldn’t have cleared him to wrestle and AEW (the company Ibushi is signed to) should have pulled their talent from the show.
Stupid by Ibushi to do moonsalts with a broken ankle
He needs to heal up. It’s crazy TK signed him knowing the condition Ibushi is in.
The fact that AEW lets this guy wrestle for them is incredible irresponsible. This dude should retire today
That match was painful to watch on so many levels.
That doesn’t make me have respect for him or see him as a tough guy! And I mean this with the upmost respect, probably not gonna sound respectful, but what an idiot! There’s no fan that’s a real fan that wants to see their favorite wrestler, hurt, and keep on and keep on! Just like watching Brian Danielson just beat his body to death. You need to think about his family who cares what everybody in the wrestling world. Thanks and he doesn’t need to keep thinking about himself his need for that stuff. Same thing with this guy.
I'm a big fan Kota ibushi but apparently he's his own worst enemy knowing damn well he desperately needs all these surgeries but refuses to do so. having said all that, I hope he does get all the surgery and rehab he needs because I would love to see him go on a final run as Murder Ibushi before he retires.
They think it's like a cartoon where you get so hurt that it unlocks some unknown abilities, but life doesn't work like that. 😂
“work through injuries.”
Maybe MINOR ones. But yeah, this mindset of wrestlers feeling like they need to work though serious injuries needs to go away. I agree on that one.
Hope MJF learns a lesson from Kota’s story. Get that shoulder surgery. If you have to sit out a year, so be it. It’ll be worth it in the long run.
How did Tony Khan see Ibushi show up in the worst shape of his career, ruin several spots in his match and still sign him? Oh yeah, he's friends with Kenny and AEW is not a business I forgot.
This is why Nakamura loves the WWE. You have mad travel and a grind that never stops but, you can just coast on your matches and don’t have to do those “fighting spirit “ matches and you have medical staff to help repair you.
I read the title of the video and thought that there were accusations of Kota Ibushi scamming people, and I was like "When did this happen? I don't recall anything like that happening!"
…unless your name is Kenoh, in which he definitely got scammed out of the main event
Kota comes from a very rich wealthy family, so he has no issues with treatment costs. Plus the contract TK just give him must be huge.
Glad you made a video on this. It's pathetic. I know the love of the game and what not but if he wants to be walking when he's Undertaker's age people need to stop enabling him and force him to sit out for a long time so he can have the surgeries and recover properly. Idc if you're a wrestler or fan, no one would want to be remembered moving the way he was compared to what he can do when he's healthy.
This is why work rate wrestlers are garbage
That's crazy get well soon kota
Dave Meltzer would still call his bed rest an outstanding performance and would give 7 stars! 😑😑
This is what happens when you dont let your body recover and choose your spots. Not every match has to be a banger where you get dropped on your neck 15 times and beat yourself to powder
This dude used to be an absolute specimen. Sad to see him like this
Now both Golden Lovers are in the hospital. Sad sad starting of the year
This was a mistake for tk he didn’t even see him before signing him. He looks like Yokozuna , maybe those ankles would be better if they weren’t carrying the extra weight.
I love NOAH, but he had no business being in the ring. Ibushi used to be one of the best in ring performers in the world, if he is to continue he needs to change his style dramatically in the same way Lyger did.
Ibushi doesn’t even seem like it’s physical ailments. He legitimately looks like he has undiagnosed brain damage and suffers from motor function issues.
Welp, I'm just gonna sit here for and wait for "fans" to begin blaming Kenny and/or AEW for a grown man making poor decisions. In all honesty, is Ibushi going through something? The injuries, his going off about New Japan last year. Along with the physical help, Ibushi needs to seek mental health also. Kenny himself had to come out and say I can't go anymore (with weirdos saying he deserved it) and I hope Ibushi sees that gives it some thought.
Who famously said "I liked the business more when the marks were in the stands(and the workers in the locker room)"?
This is ridiculous. Him, Moxley, and many others… forget how many years their career has left… I'm looking past that, to say 2040, when the next scandal about wrestling comes out as a whole new crop of guys are dropping dead in their 50s. Spoiler: It won't be WWE guys.
Stop killing yourselves in every match. Idk if you idiots know this, but it actually means MORE when you do this stuff less often. These guys report to Meltzer like US politicians reported to Epstein.
Get well soon
maybe Ibushi has a fear of surgery like i do and just really, really is trying to avoid it at all costs. that being said when you become a wrestler or really any sort of athlete you gotta expect that surgery is almost unavoidable due to wear and tear on the human body.
Allowing Kota Ibushi to wrestle a 33 minute main event AND defeat Marufuji is some serious booking malpractice.
Working hurt mentality is stupid in this day and age, back in the day they weren't doing half the airborne moves of today, it's just reckless and people who act like they need to respect it are delusional and don't understand, even Bryan Danielson is guilty of this mindset, they all need to stop.
I wonder how much of this is related to money. I have no idea what wrestlers of his stature get paid per match, or if they have to pay for their own medical care or not, but I wonder if in his mind he thought he could not afford to not wrestle. If @wdred is correct then he was just irresponsible.
A lot of these wrestlers are just shot yet they will continue to push them, which will just make their life harder as they get older.
Another wrestler stealing money from Tony Kahn
Kenoh vs. Soya should of been the main event what a barn burner
