Conference they’re 2 and8 2 and3 they’re fourth place we’re first place they’ve got 1382 in their school we’ve got 860 students so it’s bigger bigger and better usually I think we’re going to go at it tonight folks Billy B here with head coach Ryan benzenberg Let’s uh step
Back though because Tuesday was against Big Rapids you’ve had a moment to look at that game thoughts about Tuesday night’s big win uh basically doubling their score it was fun it was a fun game everybody got in the action uh we played really really hard
And like I said to the the Big Rapids uh newspaper man we got him against the ropes pretty quick pretty early and they were never really able to recover we’ve we’ve done a really good job in our 10 games of getting out early in games and kind of making teams come from behind
That’s an Mo that we have and I sure as heck hope we continue that um we did a little bit better job protecting the lead in the second half than we have in a few other games so that was promising and exciting to see as well so uh over
The next two weeks things are going to get ratcheted up for us a little bit but it was a fun game Tuesday and glad to get out of get out of there with a win I mean there were seven- two with some with some division 2 State ranking uh

Couple of different starting lineups I’m very interested to see what they do against us from a starting lineup and how they guard us perspective they could go big and kind of match our size a little bit um I honestly think that will play into our hand a little bit if they
Do that so I’m kind of hoping that’s the way they go uh but we’ll see our family healthc care injury report looks like everybody other than Martin Peta is uh doing pretty well uh not a sprained ankle on Eli main it looks like Charlie’s knee is good any any uh
Commentary on the record relative to our our health no we’re we’re as healthy as we’ve been Grant was a little under the weather earlier in the week but he feels good now and hopefully we’ve got the sickness away from our team uh so nobody else gets it clay had it a couple weeks
Ago and Grant had it didn’t feel great Tuesday gutted it out and played some minutes but uh he did not come to school or practice Wednesday but he was there yesterday feels good today so we’re full strength you got to use some of your JVS that came up on Tuesday and flushes out
The team I mean we’ve been going with eight players there’s been really no injuries no sicknesses to speak of and Nate Roberts I think missed one game maybe I think that’s been it really for the season uh and so far so good not to Chin you but you’ve got some extra kids
Coming up how about uh the kids off the bench that we don’t talk about very much and even the kids coming up from the JV that play their uh four quarters and are eligible to play another one in Varsity ball the same night it’s a great experience for them right very often
During the week we practice together so we’re we’re enhancing the experience of all of our JV kids to play at a physicality and a speed level of a varsity practice but to reward some of those kids David and Kade and Kyle Ross before he got hurt um and Lucas to be
Able to get some them some minutes at the at the varsity level not only is is a reward to them but it also gets them some experience so when they make the jump this summer and next fall it doesn’t seem so fast to them so that’s
Kind of the idea behind it okay they’ve got some players on this team and Travers they’ve got the Rival Brothers Owen only a sophomore and we’ve been dealing with I say dealing because that’s a good word for Anthony rival he’s not as hot as he’s been maybe he’s
Still coming back to full health they’ve got a big kid Aiden Morehead number 35 at 65 just a junior Brendan slack Slack’s a familiar name here if you’re from Cadillac a family name as well uh Tim slack in the house tonight 1971 or two grad played with Dirk dumbar when
Dirk was a sophomore um he was an amazing guard his uh and of course Brendan’s dad Spencer slack he’ll probably be here he was at the TC Central game up north we got a Cadillac connection there and that kid kind of sunk us last year he played a part rival
Was the death now last year when we played up at the middle school um thoughts about their players their team and uh what we have to settle as far as the score relative to what happened at the middle school last year due to a leak in our floor well first of all say
I’m ecstatic that Anthony’s hting get to come back nobody ever wants to see anyone get hurt in particular somebody of anon’s Anthony’s uh stature his senior year all the work that he’s put in from his freshman year up through uh to have to miss games I don’t want to
See anyone go through that so I’m happy that he’s back now when the ball goes up I’m I’m hoping misses every shot he takes uh it’s probably not likely to happen because he’s a really really good player so things are going to be a lot different this time um I think last time
When we played them the beginning of the year that was their first game they were just coming off losing Anthony as the two or three practice before their first game so they were trying to figure out rolles so we jumped on them pretty good do not look for that to happen again we
Have do have a plan in place that I I feel like is a good plan to kind of try to keep him under wrap so he doesn’t go crazy on us but and then slack kid’s playing well obviously uh I think he’s averaging right at 11 a game so we want
To make sure we take the ball out of his hands make him put it in his weak hand it’s something that I know he’s working on but not not one of a stronger suit so that’s the plan for him Coach it’s Friday night and we’re at a conference
Game we’re not on the road thankfully we’ve done some road games already in fact it seemed like it was never ending at one point and now here’s our weather and we’re home which is good but how about the Friday night conference feeling tonight doesn’t get much better I actually was having a conversation
With 2023 graduate Jaden Montag who’s over at Jun uh Grand Rapids Community College and he took a red shirt year and him and I were talking today and he said something like I just missed the feeling of a big Friday night high school basketball game cuz he doesn’t get that
Feeling not being able to dress and unless you’ve done it you don’t really get it and you know I look at R1 senior Charlie but we’ve had a bunch of seniors over the last handful of years the closer you get to the end of the season
The light at the end of the tunnel gets a little bit bigger so there’s some urgency there and our Juniors understand that urgency just as much as Charlie does so we’re going to relish it we get to play in our whites on a Friday night
