Rory McIlroy Round 3 Highlights | 2024 Hero Dubai Desert Classic

Highlights from Rory McIlroy’s lowest EVER Rolex Series round, as he posts a 63 (-9) on moving day.

The DP World Tour continues this week with the first Roles Series event of the season as the Emirates Golf Club hosts the Hero Dubai Desert Classic. World Number Two McIlroy is in the field again. He is aiming to become the first four-time winner of the prestigious event, having begun his 2024 campaign with a runner-up finish at the inaugural Dubai Invitational. Tommy Fleetwood will also be teeing it up again this week. His victory at the Dubai Invitational last week was built upon a consistent campaign in 2023, which saw him register five top-tens, including a runner-up finish at the season-ending DP World Tour Championship. Tyrell Hatton will also be in Dubai this week for his season debut. He finished 2023 with three top-12’s in his last five events to round of the year. Others to look out for are Nicolai Hojgaard, Francesco Molinari and Ryan Fox.

Very very good golf you know definitely better than I played the last couple of days and uh nice to get myself right back in the tournament started the day 10 shots behind an informed cam young you knew you needed something really special to give yourself a chance tomorrow how did you approach it

Mentally tactically I just thought if I could play the front nine better um I’ve played the front nine a little scrappily um the last couple of days so I thought if I I got off to a good start was a couple under through three um and then I

I thought if I could pick one or two more up you know over that sort of tough stretch from you know 5 through nine and I ended up picking uh three up pry and 7 at nine which was um which was fantastic and then I just kept it going into the

Back nine so I think for me the key to this golf course is always the front nine because it is a tougher nine and if you can play that nine well you know you give yourself a ton of momentum going into the um the more scorable back line

Whenever I see you here I think back to that first win on tour 2009 and I think of all the achievements you’ve had since then the rider cut wins five RAC to devis the major championships so many achievements what are you most proud of in your career since that point uh

I think the fact that I I turn up every day still trying to get better um I think the consistency that I’ve shown uh throughout my career um I’ve never lost the I’ve never lost the hunger to go outad and play better but I’ve also

Never lost the joy of the game which I think is really really important um it’s never felt like a job to me and the day that does feel like a job is it is the day I need to give up just finally we don’t know what the lead will be

Overnight but how many shots can you be behind and feel you have a realistic chance to win um I mean I I think anything within five probably I don’t think I’m going to be five behind unless someone does something very special on the back nine but um yeah any anything within three four

Five shots I’ll I think I’ll still have a good chance what would a fourth win here mean to you uh it would be amazing um you know be the I think the first player to get my name on it three times uh or four times sorry um

Yeah it would be awesome you know I’ve had so much success in Dubai whether it be at this tournament or over at JRA golf Estates and the race to duai and um it’s been a really really good place to me and um I love coming back here I
