To do click the button down here we’re going to give you loads of information on products like these ones and future ones that are coming out to help you make more informed choices and also get you better at the game hit the link let’s get stuck into the video so for

2024 Callaway have a new line of golf balls we see some new faces and we see some old faces they are improved though and that’s being the chrom soft that is a ball that we’ve seen in the lineup before but now it is new and improved

But here we now see two new models that we’ve not seen before the Chrome tour and the Chrome tour X now if we think back to last year in terms of swapping like for like which these aren’t they fit sort of in and around the previous

Models it would be easy to say though that the Chrome tour X was the Chrome soft XLS the Chrome tour was the Chrome soft X and the Chrome soft is the Chrome soft but like I say it’s not quite that simple there’s little differences throughout those golf balls so in all

These golf balls there are some new features and I’ll just read from the back of the golf ball box to tell you what they are we see that there is a new seamless Tor Arrow which is the skin of the golf ball basically which is designed to give penetrating and

Consistent ball flights on every shot there is also the high performance torane cover which is designed to deliver that maximum control on the green side shot so when we’re pitching when we’re chipping we’re going to see we get the spin that we want around the

Greens now in the tall and in the soft we see that there is the hyper elastic core that produces exceptionally fast ball speeds for longer distance as opposed to the optimized core designed to produce maximum ball speeds for longer distances in the t x model and when we actually think about that as

Well that’s where it plays into a little bit of a feel thing because with what we would see is this being a slightly different core in the Tor X this is going to be the firmest or it says this is going to be the firmest Fe of the

Golf balls then we would move into the T being the sort of middle of the range of the golf balls and then the soft being the softest of the three offerings but all of them offering greenside control offering distance offering Precision also we need to know what the durability

Is like so what I’ve done is taken these golf balls out to the golf course to give them a test firstly I wanted to actually see what they were like around the greens because I think when we say that these range of golf balls are now

Going to be the new gold standard in the premium Market they’ve got to be performing well around the Greens now as I was chipping around the greens from close range the only real difference I would say came from a feel perspective and it stood out more in the soft ball this one to me throughout all the testing whether it was an iron whether it was a driver whether it was

These chips or whether it was the puts it just felt that little bit more rubbery to me it did feel the softest of the golf balls it felt quite sort of grippy on the face but also like a little bit slow off the face when you were pitching you could really feel the

Ball sort of compressing a little bit more it felt like and you could really feel like I say that sort of rubbery feel about it so if you’re looking for a really soft feeling golf ball that’s where you want to be going in terms of

The tour and the t x the only real difference I would notice from a feel perspective when we were out on the putting green to start with felt pretty pretty much the same but the sounds are ever so slightly different from me you get a little bit more of a clicker sort

Of high pitch sound as it were from the t x as opposed to the T again just being that little bit softer and it just sounds a little bit duller in its sound as where even when then you progress into some chips sort of close range around the greens again you could just

Hear that tiny and I’m talking very very subtle difference between the to and the T XX you would probably in play if you didn’t have them side by side you wouldn’t really notice much but you could just start to pick up a little bit

Of a sort of fir sound as you were you were hitting the Tour X when it came to sort of pitching with these golf balls though what I did notice it says the the soft is going to be high spin again the same with the T and then the t x was

Going to be maximum and even when I was hitting some pitches in from sort of 50 60 yard I definitely noticed when I struck them you know all really well this torxx it definitely felt like it had that real sort of grip and spin into

The uh the green it felt like it was digging its teeth in and pulling up a little bit quicker um not like I say so much noticeable on the just General close range 5 10 yards off the green but when I got a little bit further out I

Definitely started to feel that the Torx was actually starting to get that grip a little bit more the next thing that I wanted to do was try all of the golf ball with some irons again just to get an idea of what the flight was like with

Each golf ball was I seeing this Precision was I seeing real controllable ball fights was I seeing that I was able to work it now it would probably take a much more skilled player striker of the golf ball to say that they could definitely work it exactly how they

Wanted to but for me what I was noticing the real standout would be that the tour and the Torx felt pretty much identical the flights were pretty pretty much identical distance wise didn’t seem to be any real difference between the two golf balls as where the Chrome soft

Starting off it felt like it popped up in the air a little bit um easily it felt like its peak height was getting a little bit more up there it felt when I hit the shot instead of sort of penetrating it was up it was like

Straight up in the air and it fell again that that softness feel that rubbery feel was carrying on even into the you know mid long irons whatever it may be the Fuller shots so was still getting the same feel I was from Putter and wedge with the Chrome soft now before we

Talk more about how the ball performs I want to talk about price because one thing that you would have seen from the Callaway range and I definitely noticed sort of over the past year was that they came in quite a lot cheaper than what we would see the counterpart the Prov V1

Which there everyone in this premium Mar Market is trying to knock off that spot we’re always seeing that these sort of balls were coming in around about £39 a dozen as where we were seen Prov ones at 47 a dozen so you know 78 um a box that you’re saving on is is

Pretty significant really as where now with this new lineup we’re seeing that the Chrome family is RRP of5 so that’s quite lofty up above that Pro one I have had a little scour around on the internet and what I’ve noticed already from one of the local Outlets

Here in England I’ve noticed that they sell them on pre-order at $47.99 for these two models already so falling straight in line with where that Prov V1 sits at so you know price point matching it could have they gone cheaper and seen that that was one way to

Undercut them potentially but I think what Callaway are trying to do is let the perform perance of the golf ball be the you know the thing that makes you switch instead of the price point but it’ll be interesting to see you know whether 6 months down the line do we see

You know that these stay at $47.99 and again we see the the soft actually drop a little bit in price a quick thing to note as well I know a lot of people are a fan of these things the true track that is staying throughout the models

The triple track the three lines that we see which matches up with some of the old Odyssey putters the triple track three 360 and then even just a blank golf ball just a standard you know old school white golf ball we’re seeing that all these are available and I believe

That there are going to be some custom um true vises coming out in the future with these so you can have a specific logo um put onto the golf ball in the truis um styles but that is yet to be confirmed but that’ be pretty cool if

You can do that let’s get back to how these golf balls are performing out on the golf course because one factor that would just knock it out of the water as always was how they would stand up with durability now from initial actual shots hits out on the course we hit you know

Quite a lot of golf shots out there using only three golf balls it was quite evident there was no real marking on them you know with the ground was a little bit Sandy I was hitting irons I was hitting wedges I was hitting drivers puts you name it and I was seeing that

There wasn’t any real scuffing of the golf ball because for me that’s one area if your ball doesn’t stand up to where a Prov V1 does with that durability and then you’re up in that cost bracket that they are straight away it’s a big no no

Because it’s the same price but not the same durability get it out of the window so to further test this as well I actually hit 10 shots with one of one brand new ball of each of the models with a brand new wedge to see how it

Would stand up are we going to see big gouges out of the golf ball we’re going to see that the skin the cover is coming off is the paint coming up off how will it Perform you can see the golf balls there each on screen we’ve got the tour we’ve got the Tor X and we’ve got the Chrome soft and I’m really happy to say that all of them had very very minimal marage now the wedge that I was using the Cleveland

Wedge the grooves on that feel like cheese gr so to see that the cover actually with stod that wedge was fantastic there was some little abrasion marks on there where the paint had maybe just worn a little bit but there wasn’t any real noticeable big gouges out of it

And for me you know 10 wedges would probably be what I would hit in around and then given that you know it might hit a tree or be scratched in a bunker it seems like they stood up really well to that test so that’s a uh a big

Positive and a big pass from the durability standpoint now when we get into driver this is an area where I need to see an improvement because chrom soft of pass was slow off the face and it was short when it came to yardages we’ve done tests in the past where we had sort

Of the four big Brands the tailor Maids the callaways the titlist and the shrien which are the brands we think of generally when we have the four big premium golf balls or the one are available but it was always one that was down at the bottom of the pack in that

Speed off the face in terms of the distance when we were getting the carry numbers as well so when I took it out onto the golf course originally and I was hitting shots with the driver whether it’s the new driver in my bag whether it’s me actually working on my

Golf swing getting into the gym a little bit it feels like they were a little bit longer now there was points out on formul 8’s Golf Course where I was hitting some shots and bear in mind it was freezing cold when we were out there 0 degrees and there’s not much run on

The golf ball and there was shots that I was hitting that I thought that’s like up to where I am in summer that’s seeming like a positive start to confirm these suspicions and see what I was actually getting with my eyeballs out the golf course I took the balls back

Into my studio and I hit countless shots with them just to get an idea of how each one is performing these balls are claiming that they’re going to be the gold standard and going to be knocking tight list off they’re saying that they are faster they are longer than tight

List let’s see if that’s True so the verdict is in and I’m a little bit surprised I recently did a test where I was using prov1 I was using the qi1 driver that I used in this review to do that and this is basically 7 days apart and in that video I used a Pro V1

My carry number with the Pro V1 was 290 six yards with two of these golf balls I carried it 295 yards which is these two the Chrome tall and the Chrome soft so literally one yard shorter now the ball speeds did come in a little bit slower than the

Prov V1 hence why with the launch and the spin I was seeing that actually the Chrome tour for me was the lowest spinning of the lot 1,900 revs versus the 2 ,100 of the Chrome soft but literally one yard shorter than the Prov V one so nothing in it bar yard which

You know for me is neither here nor there when we get to the Chrome tour X this is where it differs now this golf ball for me would be the one that I would probably play I was playing the Chrome soft X beforehand and I’ll would be torn between these two probably going

Down this chrome tor X it was exactly the same as the prov1 296 yards the spin was lower than what I saw in that testing 2,700 I think my revs were with the provy as well with this one 2,300 my launch was actually a little bit lower than the other two with these

So if I got that up I would probably see maybe a couple more yards out of this golf ball but it is right there neck and neck with the prov1 at 296 for myself so overall it’s doing the same as the Prov V1 I was maybe expecting to see

A little bit more from it but neck and neck you can’t complain it’s doing the same job will it stand the test of time will we see that it knocks prov1 off its spot it’s a hard job I think they’re going the right way about it but for me

I think it’s one that you have to try you have to give it a go will the prices come down to see that it maybe Pips it in that sense but overall a good Golf Board that’s getting the same numbers has good drawability good feel perspective from them all and just a a

Solid replacement from what we saw last year not blown away by it though but pretty decent guys I hope you’ve enjoyed that video as always make sure that you do hit the Subscribe button we have plenty more coming to help you make better choices this year and help you

Improve your game I’ll see you in another video very soon

  1. Nothing is going to knock off the Pro V1. Come on. Even if a new ball is better it won't impact Pro V1 sales. For the average golfer, the golf ball makes no difference. Won't make 1 stroke difference in ones score. All modern balls are fantastic. I buy new balls for like $15 a dozen and they are great.

  2. A number of Youtube content providers, have used the heavily salter water bath to check balls for accuracy in being balanced, centred. One 12 ball box of pro V's, had 6 bad balls, which is terrible, based on the cost. The new Callaway balls are checked by the company and have proven to be 12 out of 12 true, centred = bettter value, with both boxes bought same time/ location. Other balls have also proven to deliver better results, when hit with IRON BYRON, when the pro v range was in the test with those other balls, with the results knocking the pro v off its number one spot, with better dispersion and length. Think Titleist may be using another factory for their balls, or, they are getting very lazy with their production checks on quality.

  3. What's the point of them then, as expensive as a Pro v1 and not as long – maybe if they were £25 or 30 yards longer worth a look

  4. This is the second test I’ve seen and the Chrome tour outperformed the Pro V1, so will be interesting to see whether this ball and TP5 make inroads.

  5. unless you are an elite player cannot see the point…. if callaway want to take the market it is 29.95 per box… difficult to get PRO V1X players across if they are the same/similar price performance…..cannot see anyone over a 6 handicap getting any noticeable benefit … but hey ho each to there own

  6. I switched from the Pro V1x to the Bridgestone BXS. The ball is longer and spins more, and feels softer. All around for me it's better. A bonus to it, I can get them for almost $20 usd cheaper per dozen than the Pro V1x.

  7. ProV1 has been dead for years, as far as performance goes most golfers should be gaming a mid priced ball, balls such as Vice Pro will suit most amateur players far better than a premium tour ball

  8. I did see there around $95 in Australia. I wouldn't be spending that when srixon are $55 for their z star and tyalormade and Bridgestone balls are around $60-$75

  9. Every time… haven’t even watched the whole video yet. I know the answer is no the Pro is not dead.
Also, is Matt ever going to straighten those framed flags. The Ikea frames are bowing

  10. Too expensive as most top premium balls are. I’ll stick with either Bridgestone, Taylormade Tour Response or Titleist Tour Speed. ⛳️👍🏼⛳️

  11. With the new ball roll back I dont think many companies are going to put much effort into making a ball that will be illegal in a couple of years, these were probably made before the roll back was announced.

  12. $$$$$$$$$$ unless your pro caliber golfer or just want to be wasteful
80% of you audience probably would not know the difference in either if not for the LOGO's

  13. In the states we play the CS in the winters and X in the better weather. easier on the hands and get a lot of response from it.

  14. Nope, not for me. Played Pro-V1x for a long time before switching to Bridgestone B-X, no regrets. It's just better, longer, everywhere.

  15. Imma let you finish but the TaylorMade Tour Response Stripe is the best ball of all time. Of all tiiiiime.

  16. Great video, i played with the Chrome Soft X and thought they were great, the way they grabbed the green on wedge shots made a massive difference.
I think the interesting point on the stats was whilst the soft and tour were very marginally shorter on average carry, the variance was much tighter than either the Tour X or the pro V1. I would imagine the consistency at your level is more important?

  17. There will be balls close to Titleist and you can save a couple of bucks but there’s still no ball better than Pro V’s…..

  18. Great review Matt, a solid range of balls and they clearly are as good as the Pro V range…
From an on tour point of view, I'm seeing a great amount of tour players using the Callaway balls, more often than not you'll see the Callaway ball in vertually every group out on the tour, a sure sign that Callaway are as popular if not more popular than the Pro v's.

  19. I’ve recently been playing the new Wilson Staff premium ball. Long off the tee, and very workable. It’s much more clicky sounding around the greens, but the spin, and check is phenomenal. I’m not very “brand” specific, but I like the soft feel of the regular Chrome Soft, ProV1, and TP5. However, with the X models, in these balls(also the Wilson Staff), it still feels weird to me how a ball sounds harder, then surprisingly checks up quicker. These new Callaway models seem to be similar to the X models of other brands. I used to think that the softer a ball felt, the more spin it produced. That couldn’t be further from the truth. I love the feel of a Callaway Supersoft, but it’s a hard ball to shape, and has zero check on the greens. You have to play premium balls for extra spin, and seems like the firmer models spin even more.

  20. Man, I used to love Pinnacle Gold. Could crush that one farther than any ball, including the ProV1. I could tag a 7 iron into the green, get it to check up………………..and I'd get to the green and find I had peeled the cover. Yea, not real durable but they were cheap and had great feel. I have played Callaway Chrome Soft and I like it, but not nearly as much as I like a ProV1. I am a rarity in that I will play a lot of different balls and like a lot of different balls. A lot of golfers, especially those who buy the more expensive balls, are pretty brand loyal. Callaway really needed to consider a lower price point to get ProV1 players to even try them, much less switch.

  21. Youtubers losing their sense of reality. Folk cannot afford to pay for these balls, that you lot get for free for a good review to the mugs who watch.
Sorry, i forgot. Rick, Andy, Pete, yourself and loads of other, do this from the good of your hearts, companies don't pay you for good reviews to millions of subs. Aye, guid yin.(Bullshit)

  22. My Irons would eat these balls. Prefer TM or Vice. But buy Wilson because its less soul destroying when i lose them. Much cheaper, but do the job.
