  1. There is a simple technique to get that feel in the arms during the swing. Simply establish the grip while standing up with both arms bent 90° with shaft vertical. As you bend forward and the arms straighten to lower the club the ulna and radius in the forearms will rotate creating the counter-torque needed to keep the elbows pulled in together.

    I first discovered this by trial and error when trying everything I could to get the “towel wringing” feel Hogan described in Five Lessons in my arms and later read it suggested in the PGA Manual of Instruction and by Martin Hall who calls the technique EDPU – Elbows Down / Palms UP which is how you want the arms and hands oriented before putting the club into them.

    It made a huge difference and improvement in my ability to hold and guide the club because even a slight amount of counter torque between the two arms at address helps the trail arm to fold consistently and predictably to guide the club head on the ideal balanced, outside of hands takeaway path.
