Kim Jong Un: The Ultimate Dream Team Guest Episode

After the busy Christmas fixture period, Crouchy, Chris and Sids decide to have a bit of a mid season review of their own

The lads reflect on the impact that the busy Christmas schedule can have on teams who start to stutter and suffer burnout, as well as those teams who welcome the slowed down schedules in January.

Not only is it tough at the top, but the relegation zone isn’t too much fun either! The lads look at the teams on the other end of the table who will be feeling the heat in the second half of the season and those teams snapping at their heals in the playoff battles.

Should change it all up you I mean like let’s start with that and see where it evolves what’s your one James James it was yours you didn’t say yours James as well was it PJ do you know what James your name do you know why you’ve inherited that name

Is that uh no any reason no family no no grandads I mean I’ve got grandads but he’s not after them my James is is but bzar throughout like my dad and his dad are are James their first name is James passed down but they call their middle

Name one my dad’s name is Bruce yeah but H so hang on so on his passport would be James Bruce Crouch really but he’s called Bruce whereas his dad would would be James Michael yeah but it’s called Mike so I’m the only one who’s I should

Be James James Peter but be called Peter but are you passing down the middle name James to your kids no well you got that’s you sort got to do that haven’t you do you think I think so I think it’s kind of you’re given a middle name it’s

Like Francis in my family seems to have been passed down so I felt obliged to then oh you done it as well well yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah I’ve done it to my young my uh yeah my last son but what I means I don’t know who this Francis is

So at some point my ancestry there’s some character called Francis obviously meant a lot to someone and now has been passed down without question I don’t know who he is could be a wrong I think it seems quite appealing going on that show right to learn about your ancestors

You must have been asked yeah yeah bad sometimes isn’t it that’s what I’m saying you assume it’s going to be fine but Steve like I could be I could be right in trouble I don’t think you can be Associated to that you know I don’t think you could judge someone

From what your ancestors done you think would you look at me differently if my ancestors were you know I don’t know something really bad what would you look at me differently can’t I I think you can’t help but feel you would have inherited some of the traits of you know

Some and they they got in the blood it’s in the blood it’s in there somewhere if if needs be I’d love us to all do something like that I would love us to explore it because I’d be interested to know in the whole sort of football argument of nature vers

Nurture if there is something that is kind of a product of all your ancestors and that which made you two exceptionally good at football and me slightly less than average what what is the difference were your ancestors playing the original game I don’t know um I’ve done the test the saliva test with

The but that’s yeah but that sort of tells you what you’re made up in general stats right what I think we need is someone to come and investigate the Sidwell family tree so like for example for example did I think you two because you got a bit of an ego on you

Both haven’t you like you you both probably assume you’re the most successful person to ever have existed in your family tree present present family tree yeah I mean do you think that thought about it’s probably true I mean you’re basically you’re getting out where does the town and dark skin come

From isn’t it that’s what you’re looking at I’m saying well M I’m just saying there’s probably stories there something has made the great Steve Sidwell the great Steve Sidwell Something’s Happened it’s not just down to you it’s your ancestors as well and I’d love to learn

This to you for years um I still think you’re reluctant to put the message in but you know at some point it would be great get think we should we should definitely trying to get him on yeah I’ve Got a Feeling 24 could be big I think it’s I think it’s it could

Potentially be one of the biggest what ever what just years well do you mean podcast that’s what I’m aiming for personally but as in guest wise I think he potentially well is there anyone is there anyone just looking back on think of young SIDS right we saw him on

Want um who would I like on you know like quite Liam gallager was a good one it yeah um someone on that kind of that kind of pathway do you know what who I’d like on who who we loved at darts Luke ller I’d like to speak to him I think

You know sometimes you have people that burst on the scene at kind of 16 and I think they had a list and I was watching darts they they had a list of the people that went on we won things at 16 obviously it was before he lost but Z

Martina Hingis obviously like Wayne Rooney there was people 16 what theyve achieved and they all gone on to massive things I just it’d be interesting to see where his heads at like at this age but do you think that’s part of the problem is he’s had this massive success age 16

That in a weird kind of way to keep Luke liter with the best possible opportunities of doing the very best he can because he’s managed to get this far on his own without all this attention everything and a lot of the criticism is suddenly he’s out doing all interviews

And things like that maybe the best thing we could do as a podcast is almost run a campaign to say in fact we’re not going to get you on the podcast do you know I mean like we’ll be the only media out there that going to

Publicly go out there and say we don’t want luk on because we want him to concentrate on his face on the ground yeah I I don’t know I just think that might be but you know if you have that success age 16 it can and I I don’t I’m not saying

This to kind of preempt anything that can happen with him but this amount of weird attention that appears you must have seen it have I guess galvanized some players and people but it does have a negative effect as well you must have seen it I wouldn’t like it person I

Don’t know how you were 16 I was Miles off it really like I didn’t get kind of well known really I mean even when I was playing for QPR 18 and Portsmouth at 19 I was still playing the championship and I was kind of getting away with it it’s

Only when I went to Villa people in football started recognizing me but only when I played for England really that I was like kind of on that on that level where people everywhere kind of recognize you but I was 23 then and I was still making mistakes yeah I can’t

Think think of 60 that’s seven more years yeah do you think there sort of a tension do you think it has on the balance of things is it more detrimental than positive because in one way I guess you get all your sponsorship and the increased awareness means he’s doing

Premier league and all all that sort of yeah think it’s good it’s good for him in some it depends on the individual if they if they’ve got the mindset that can carry off and that can do it some some can’t I think Joe Cole look at Joe like

Joe when he was 14 they had hype when he was 14 see those players as well have fallen by the wayside like players that I’ve played with like in a youth team who were just so far ahead of everyone and then just struggle to kind of cope

With it all um and and struggle to meet the demands or the pressure really I I would I would never I wouldn’t change my path at all I think it gave me a good grounding and then you know things happened for me at the right time I

Could cope with it well maybe that’s what we do with Luke we give him a couple more years let him get uh you know win win the Worlds at some point and then invite him on the podcast after that and until then should we just operate a policy of everyone should

Leave luk ler alone let him do his I totally agree unless he wants to come on just but it has to be his choice oh yeah listen you know hopefully he’s got good people around here we’re making a stand we do not want Luke L on the

Podcast for his own good we’re helping him out so just talking of darts quickly before we move on um this question come up over Christmas and it it was a SP a huge debate um it was what do you think is harder out of these three put these

Three in order a hole in one a 147 snooker maximum break or a nine data oh I think the ho okay I think ho in one’s the easiest in my opinion because I think even though you’re aiming for that and everyone you’re not realistically

Hoping to get it in so it’s a it’s a relaxed hit and hope situation my my problem is I think even if you’re a bad golfer you can get a hole in one yeah whereas for me 147 is unachievable for anyone who’s not a proper snooker player

Yeah a nine da even right it’s still nine dots you know it’s so hard I think the nine daa is harder than 147 than 147 this is this spark debate I was I’m the same so we’re in agreement yeah so I think again the um easiest out of the

Lot which is crazy to say it would be a ho in one yeah because you could you know if it’s 130 yard it’s ridiculous but you every time you have a shot go this could go in yeah so it’s two and three isn’t it it’s what’s the hardest

Out of a 147 and a nine Dart I think I think the hardest is 147 I do but then nine darts should I tell you why cuz I think the only reason I say the darts over is because the 147 I think is a it’s kind of a well

Rehearsed routine was I think the darts it as it gets increasingly more diff difficult I think I don’t know the pressure of it or to to get nine do think the pressure of the 147 it does increase usually when you get to the yellow yeah the green you know what I

Mean the brown yeah then you’ve got the black and it’s a tight one for the 147 like that amount of pressure on that black yeah it was a big one it SP it sparked a bit of controversy you’ve both gone 14 SS on that yeah I mean you’re

Probably right no listen I think at n da is absolutely exceptional and the thing is it’s probably it’s harder probably for a professional darts player to get a nine daa than it is for a professional snooker player to get a 147 if you know what I mean cuz if you’re Ronnie for

Instance has got loads of them do you know what I mean but I don’t think darts players have multiple nine dats do they because it’s I think it’s more difficult for a professional not I’m as a you know a novice whatever you could get lucky with a nine daa there’s no way there’s

No way NS you could I mean you could it’s nine DTS wow how many shots how many shot six lipsticks and then you finish it off all right okay it’s absolutely ridiculous but what I’m saying is yeah I know there’s so there’s so many shots to go through and so many different variations

Where if you got a still dartboard and a you know whereas you know there’s so many variations of a snooker table and you’ve got so many more shots to get through do you think are you doing this if you’re doing this properly then you need to test it with a

Novice right so you need say in room and she’s not allowed to leave until she’s hit she’s done 147 right how many days that would take You’ be happy against then she goes in a room and how long would it take her for a nine nine so you asking me to lock Abby

Away in a dark room I’m saying if she was willing to do it for charity I’d sponsor her [ __ ] charity we wouldn’t see it come out a beard this long but how many days i’ be arrested how many days would it take ABY glancy nine D this you to do n that’s

The thing I she’d have more chance at the nine da because she knows how to hold a dart she can’t hold a que straight away I think she’d have more child listen you know we we try this for Cherry but you might not see

Us see us for about 15 years you let me ask her if she’d do it for charity like can you but you’re I guess you’re right if this is a test of what’s more difficult I think it would take Abby clency Long more days or weeks to come

Out of that room having completed a 147 that’s what I mean and I think that clears up our argument what I mean what I’m saying is I think she could she could get uh a nine data in 3 years consistent have to test food and water water just die oh yeah yeah yeah

Yeah it’s not that she’s deprived of anything okay it’s just she has basement yeah yeah I don’t know why I like the idea of being she’s in a room room’s a game room the room with board trying to break her as well mentally oh god listen I’ll put it see

How we get on yeah please just before we get started as well I know we what we are doing we in the mid-season point in the Premier League this year you know loads to go on interesting to see how we how we get on with the second half of

The season but before we start I just wanted to say um ex Spurs player someone I played with actually Pascal Chima is currently managing schemale United and was issued with a five match touchline ban after being sent off following an appeal this ban was reduced to three

Games it what appears to be a move to try and stay in The Dugout Chim bod has now registered himself as a player what to be on the bench right so so he’s the manager but he’s he’s now registered himself as a player well so therefore therefore he can put

Himself on the bench and conduct management I like that is [ __ ] I like that it’s quite Petty because I still feel if you’re a manager you don’t need to be in The Dugout do you for the sake of three games do you know what I mean

It’s a lot of hassle to go to to just prove prove a point well I mean I think it matters more when I mean I’m I’m assuming it’s a small stadium or if they got a stadium scale’s up by Liverpool it yeah um I think it matters more when it’s you know

Like it’s right on the touch line and you can hear ones that are up in the stands and or they’re or they you know it doesn’t doesn’t matter but I think that non- League ones or the lower leagues that I think it that’s massive

They need to be there I I can’t I can’t say Pascal CH without without saying this uh we you know we used to call it uh when you go out for a walk we can out for a pascal Wonder go for a Wonder a wonder and he

Just used to he got caught so even now my vocabulary now go out for a little pasc out I AG tickles Christmas Pascal little Christmas Pascal taking a dog for Pascal oh no this is is this a known thing is this just my vocab no no no cuz I’m

Not sure if I didn’t see him as a manager and it’s it’s a strange one that he was kind of he’s up there I know he finished to kind of donc cast one at car we went to maybe it’s a place where you can fall in love like Newcastle maybe

Maybe he’s fell in love there yeah what’s um is is he the kind of player that you as you’re saying there like you didn’t really expect to be manager does that happen a lot or do you sort of know the managers are going to be no I think

There there’s a few now that have have taken to it you didn’t think maybe would it’s I think it’s quite common isn’t it it’s been a few Mark Hughes was definitely one that a lot of people said no one could ever see him being a

Friends and um he’s obviously had a break in Germany the season shut down and in that time frame where he’s last game was and when his first game will start Spurs have played four games so he have played four games that’s a lot of like considering he’s he’s had his feet

Up whatever and then he gets into like a mini preseason in a short space of time as well yeah but that be that’ be the first time that he’s had that I know that might bod well for us in the summer with England oh right of course I mean

Cuz I sometimes I think certainly in Harry KY made always going to start him because he’s you know he our main man um C but at times he he feels like he hasn’t quite been himself you what I mean I’m hoping this year that you know kind of

With that break it might might really help him it does feel like that maybe the you know the change that obviously happened and it’s all uh feels like with Harry Kane now there’s just a lot of positive focus on him because you’re only really talking about the goals that

He’s scoring and you know I’m aware obviously there’s a lot of fans of That League but there are generally speaking I think people are a bit more distant from it to to kind of all you’re hearing about Harry Kane’s positive thing do you know what I mean that maybe that

Pressure might be slightly off them when playing for the national team but it’s m obviously now obviously there’s a winter break now as well which is pretty pretty bizarre um like obviously like half the team’s playing it’s not a real one is it it’s like a like a fake Break yeah there

Are some teams that I’ve gone away as well yeah I know a few players a few clubs that have gone away as a team like a midseason already like because they normally do in February don’t they you got You’ go they’ve done it tocharge yeah if you got the cup quite

Often like it’s it was it was was a bit of sweet bit of sweet sometimes like obviously you want to win the cup competition and you want to get through and but you then go if you do go out at least you do get a little

Break yeah I see what you mean but I just think sometimes you know if you’re you’re not a big Club you go right we can win this yeah I mean if you’re if you’re at a club that you don’t can you win it it’s like it’s obviously you go

All out to win it you know I mean of course but if you do go out it’s a nice little break you get yeah yeah but then we’ve always said this as a podcast we’re very much for the FA Cup aren’t we and we hold it and I love it and I love

I love the weekend we had you know a couple of weeks ago like that cup weekends you know I I love those games like I buzz off watching them you know watching um watching uh Maidstone for instance like getting through you know like Watford left it late they left it

Late that was a that was a good game and I still I watch these games and I can’t go over what we were saying before about doing the FA Cup draws and sending team and I remember they were to I was watching the um Arsenal Liverpool game

And uh their commentators on now I think Shar was saying it’s a stinker of a draw this for both teams because they don’t want to be seeing each other in the third round you know and and having to arm up basically to to you know give it

A good go and um yeah I just thought yeah but it all comes from someone just drawing out the Hat I love everything about it the one thing I would say i’ be interested to know what you you boys think of it and I’m a bit confused by it

Is I don’t understand how you can have V in some games of the FA Cup and and not others and that not be seen as an advantage so constant talking about it like obviously going away and not having V and saying it you had to play a different way yeah cuz he’s saying

Obviously we play a high line usually but we had to it’s like so you do basically making it that you do have to play a different way if there’s V or not well yeah because obviously you do have to play a different way because refs obviously ref

It differently you don’t ref the game the same way with or without V yeah my thing is that’s fine because the argument would be well both teams are deal both team it’s not like one team it’s got but my thing is if you’re not used to playing with it week in week out

That must be that must be an advantage but look minor criticism about about the FA Cup so far it’s been a lot of fun no I enjoyed it enjoyed it are you going to be doing one of the draws this year well I don’t know I

Don’t know I’ve not been asked since my rod um that’s a disgrace they should give you one of year I thought I mean I feel like it was it was it was probably one of the best performances in recent years I think that’s that’s the best way to leave

It you nailed it and then I mean if you went back in now people would expect you to do something the goat yeah then I feel like it’s like it’s a bit like the robot at you’d have to do the robot well no no but I’m just saying you’d have to

Normally the time where a change of manager happens just maybe January February of course and and obviously January signings as well January signings change of possible change of manager so you know if it’s not going well that there’s going to be some sacrifices and it’s not nice when the

Manager goes I’ve been there yeah yeah well so if you’re sheffi United right you’re nine points right uh you’re you’re a drift at a minute it’s seven points from safety you I think you look you look at Luton and you you look to them and like they were a drift right

They’ve gone everyone wrote them off and look up now what they Point behind yeah like they’ve picked up they’re looking better yeah but I think with Luton they never they never claimed to be anything other than they were from the start this season it was like the fans were just

Going to enjoy themselves do you remember they were celebrating the losses right at the start anyway and actually they’ve kind of found their place and come good and all the stuff that happened with Tom as as well um I think has really galvanized that that team and um obviously we all wish him

Well uh but is staggering seeing how they can just grind out these results that’s what you want I mean I I expected if you said to at the beginning of the Season who’s going to go down I would have had them three in and around it I wouldn’t have had them three exactly

Down there I would have had Burnley probably out of the three of them a couple of spots above but it’s been tough but it looks like L are the ones that could definitely but what is it like being when you’re in that position how much do you feel it on

The training ground how much do you feel like is it is it kind of is it stressful starting to turn off it never leaves you like it never leaves you like when you’re down there like that you’re thinking about and the worst thing is you when you when you drive through the

Gates you look at the the the the fellas on the gate you look at the receptionist then you go upstairs and you got all the people the secretary everyone and they’re all looking at you like [ __ ] come on what I mean like it’s everyone’s jobs it’s it’s really tangible is it

Yeah you just feel the nervousness and it’s like you know you don’t know like I know there’s players certainly when we were at Stoke there were players that didn’t feel like that like I I did I Fel I felt like we letting these people down you know like if generally felt it

Wasn’t really just letting ourselves down it wasn’t you selfishly you want to stay up for you yeah but but it’s everyone around the place and the you know everyone you see at the petrol station is like come on and like every everywhere you go you feel a nervousness

About the the relegation that’s imminent or or potentially could happen do you think that compounds the issue or does it give you the motivation to kick onit both it’s hard isn’t it down you’re down there for a reason because you haven’t won football matches and then it starts

To become out of your control that you start not literally praying but you your take by any means just to get a win other than performing really well you’ll be like just give us three points today someone just cuz you obviously that’s why you’re down there so inconsistent

You’re not getting the wins and they say oh winning breeds momentum where it don’t you win one you’re thinking even the next week you’re just praying to get another three points I think to stay up yeah like as a manager I think I think the best way to play it and the ways
