All right the internet is on fire once again with comments after Brooks kepa’s team smash dropped this image tagging both Smash and Nike showing what appears to be a shoe collaboration and the reason why this has been such hot news Mike and we’ve been talking about it
Here on the podcast is because in recent days we have seen uh a number of very high profile names of course including tiger Woods himself parting ways with Nike and this makes us Wonder like what’s going on here is this that Nike is potentially leaving the PGA Tour and
Its association with PGA Tour players in favor of live we’re going to talk in a second there was also a big rumor not too long ago that Nike be potentially investing a lot of money to be a key sponsor in Brooks kepa’s team or is this just something that we all know Brooks
Kea likes to do and that’s just kind of troll the internet just a bit possible and tease us it’s totally possible it’s possible right because I mean I don’t know did they make these shoes I mean are they working with them um I know we’re going to talk about um a
Possibility of Nike coming in with a large bag at one point for Brooks’s team but maybe I don’t know maybe just speculation that if Nike leaves the PJ tour and they’re going that way they’re not just going to live but they’re going for more Global eyeballs in golf and
That’s something we’ve talked about like the at the end of the day Liv you look ahead at its schedule it’s a very Global league in a lot of ways they’re going to be playing all over the place there was which we’ve got I’m sure we’ll talk about more on future episodes but we
Just saw Phil mikkelson on the Pat McAfee show and he was talking largely about that being a huge part of Liv’s business model uh he he talked there about one bit of Revenue that a lot of us wasn’t privy to previously talking about how a lot of the the tourism uh
Agencies for different countries are actually paying big money he claims we’ll see how true that is but he claims to bring live there for that increased tourism but getting kind of back to this and looking at this you know one thing that that has to be said is that the the
The clear reality is that anyone can take their logo and throw it on Nike shoes yeah you know or or really any shoe I mean anybody can do that right I’ve made Nike IDs before I’ve gotten them and I’ve used them exactly and Nike ID some people had even pulled that out
In the comments that you can go in there build shoes like this of pretty much any lame for a guy with gazillions of dollars in a big celebrity Spotlight to make his own shoes and spend the money well the question is it what’s the intention and and I I we all know Brooks
Is a notorious pot stirer I mean do you remember back in the Ridder cup where he had all Ricky Fowler and all the guys wearing his team smashh and none of that is not done without an intention and you have to have to question the timing of
This because the news is just right on the heels of tiger parting ways with Nike um Jason day to malbon and all that exactly the timing of it I mean I can very much put myself in that room where Brooks is like hey guys you want to have
A little fun exactly you know what I mean he’s like throw the logo on on a pair of shoes I’ll wear them we’ll just drop a picture no contexts it’s just a smashing into 2024 right and we’ll get people talking and from that regard it is a great publicity stunt you can’t
Knock that you can’t no I and I honestly my my personal feeling is I don’t believe Nike’s leaving PJ tour and going to live yeah I don’t think so I don’t think and the reason for that is Tiger Woods you won’t leave Tiger Woods and go to there unless there was extreme Bad
Blood right which we know there’s not because based on the announcement they thanked tiger very amicable part very nice parting where I would believe that potentially they would be investing in live ni Nik would be if they did not pull out a golf these guys are still
Going to wear Nike and they wanted to expand their model there right pull out here and go there it just doesn’t make sense I think it is Brooks being Brooks and I kind of love it for I love it and listen we want you guys to weigh in the
Comments so let us know below what you think this is is this just Brooks trolling or is this something bigger you know make Playing devil’s advocate and trying to like look into it I can see how it’d be possible that company like Nike could be like listen Tiger’s
Winding down the reality is we’re only if if you want ey tiger is the way to get eyeballs we all know that he always has been but if tiger is going to get to a point where we only see him in five six events per year you know I could see
A company like Nike saying well I could take that same money and probably even less C some less money potentially to grab you know the the entire team of from of Smash and and one big thing that we heard uh Phil Michelson saying again in that interview was saying that
Sponsors are going to come to live this is what he claims because they it’s guaranteed appearances they know how many times they’re going to be there and all those types of things but I maintain in my personal opinion and guys again you guys weigh in the comments let me
Know whether you you agree with this or not we did an entire podcast on it we’ll link to that so we won’t have to go too deep into it again here but I still believe Nike is leaving golf I think what’s happening is as contracts are coming to their natural conclusion I
Think they’re just not being renewed and I think that you’re going to see a regular in steady phase out I think it’s it follows exactly the model of what Nike did with its equipment not too long ago I think apparel’s next I think the golf is just not the market that they’re
Pursuing going forward I think you’re absolutely right so the where we did see these rumors of Nike dropping two billion dollars into live Nike’s a huge company they can afford it I just don’t see it happening do you look at Nike in the past and the athletes that they’ve
Had like who are the top three Nike athletes that have ever worn Nike it’s did what Jordan Jeter and tiger yeah was Federer a Nike guy I believe he was Fed was I mean and that makes a lot of sense they go after those big big
Person the goats they go for in a lot of ways so and I’m not saying that they’re they’re they’re dropping a level by by leaving the goats and going to live I’m not not knocking Nike but I just don’t see their business model going in a direction where Liv isn’t established
Yet you know like I don’t see them going that way it is true but the other side of that coin there’s two sides to every coin the other side of that coin is that Nike’s always been one of those brands that will take the risk on something new something that’s disruptive they’ve done
That and and live in a lot of ways we know is that and and and that’s their own words I mean you heard over and over you heard uh Phils calling how they were disruptors um they could be saying hey look we look at the global long-term
Market and live is is growing in these other countries and that’s where it may be so there’s obviously there’s a lot of ways you can look at this we’ll continue to watch it we’ll continue to report on it here on the on the show but really we
Want to hear your opinion weigh in is this an indication that very soon we’re going to see some sort of announcement of a partnership between Nike and either smash directly or live in general or is this Brooks Kea taking his advantage and making a a what is arguably a very smart
Publicity stunt in the light of all the announcements that are happening with tiger and others and just saying hey this is a great moment for us to get some eyeballs and maybe uh you know prod the system just a little bit I think he’s just prodding it a little bit
Brooks being Brooks and I I absolutely love it and again I could see him saying guys all these things going on with Nike we’re still wearing Nike even if I have to pay for it cuz I want to look like Nike didn’t drop us that’s Brooks you
Never know we yeah we know Brooks loves to to do that type of stuff so uh waiting in the comments let us know what you think

i swear Nike is trying put itself out of the golf business on purpose
Does Nike still use slaves?
Nike is looking at ROI with how money is spent on players and product line
Return from golf is not their
Nike offered Koepka “$2Billion” for Koepka’s Team Smash. Nike goes where the money is. Saudi owned companies spend $47 Billion per yr in advertising on the PGA Tour. Notice how many Sponsors are dropping out of the Tour now?(Farmers, Wells Fargo) hmmm.
Comparing Nikes golf equipment departure with their clothing sponsorships is apples and oranges.
Remember Nike left balls and clubs in the middle of their contracts. But they are not doing that now.
I still do not think Nike is leaving the pga tour or LIv. And I do think sooner or later —looks like sooner— Nike will play a big role in LIv and brooks team. It is interesting brooks never had any logos on his shirt or hat. His first smash logo is on his shoes. Some day I want to hear brooks explain all this.
The big question is why tiger left Nike. tiger probably feels he can be even more prosperous doing his own thing. I look forward to learning what that next venture is for tiger. I would love to see a logo with a BIG tiger fist pump.
Calm down, it's just a troll by Koepka. Nike isn't aligning with LIV, there is no money in doing so, and they won't be buying Koepka's team either.
Koepka trolling would be awesome! At the same time I could easily see Nike looking at the age demographic of Liv consumers and thinking thats where they'll do well in potential apparel sales, and especially sneaker sales! The average age of a PGAT viewer is 64, not exactly a market place rife with sneaker sales opportunity! I think Nike execs saw the wild scenes at Liv Adelaide last year when Chase Koepka made the ace on the "watering hole" and thought to themselves "everyone of those crazed fans" was a potential Nike customer!!! The Liv golf tour has established themselves as a global tour, so why wouldn't a global brand like nike not see the potential there?
Just asking, is PIF invested in Nike?
Why is anybody shocked a company that promotes child labor is hooking up with a Saudi golf league? Nike is trash anyway.
If Nike is smart they would align themself with LIV. Its the future. LIV's audience is global and aged 10-45. This constant referencing to Tiger is comical. He is done. Why do you think Nike stopped paying him.
I feel bad for the players that turned down 100+ million contracts for some misguided loyalty to the PGA, because when all is said and done LIV is the future of golf and they will end on the LIV tour without the signing bonus or owning their own team franchise. I think Rory may be beginning to realize this and that the PGA & DP World Tour ships are sinking.
I hope you guys make a video after Nike blows up the golf world
1. Brooks is a Nike Golf guy
2. Brooks is a Srixon guy
3. US golfers that are Srixon will be outfitted by Nike.
This has been out for a bit now that Srixon and Nike will be together. Research it
I'd imagine Nike will sponsor Brooke's whole team. They are probably trying to capitalize off more of this team model they use in college. Maybe Brooke's will be like the "coach" and receive a big cut and then require his teammates to be part of the Nike package, with them getting a smaller team share and their own individual deal. Nike doesn't need to have a golf specific line. Many people (and average golfers) are just looking for quality athletic leisure wear. That could be Nike, Lulu Lemon, Brady or whatever. It doesn't need to have a golf ball emblem on it.
This is why I love Brooks!
Once you get a guy like Rahm on the roster thè interest in LIV jumps by oŕders of magnitude.
For example, last year Adelaide wanted LIV to lift their cap on tickets available. Can you imagine what Valderrama will be like this year!!!???
LIV is like a pantheon of All Stars with a great mix of champions of all ages. Why do you think Rory is singing a different tune now?
There will always be people who want to see Tiger for the greatness he was. But he is not going to be the headliner he was.
This whole issue of the Team Business Model is probably still working out what it means for investors. Does an investor want some portion of the profits or do they just want the commercial exposure? Will it be like the naming rights for stadiums??
NIKE going with Both LIV & PGAT. It’s just business. TW brand for NIKE was loser deal. Folks were just buying NIKE Golf apparels, not TW. It’s not Sir Air Jordan Brand. NIKE want to sell products around the World, not just North America
Good place for those woke Mo Fo’s
Rafa Nadal too a Nike guy…
1. Nike will definitely go with LIV due to the global tour, reaching out to younger audiences
2. Tiger is going downward. Kinda boring stuff in the long run. As a corporation, Nike would want to invest in something new and bigger rather than a stagnant personality who plays a few rounds of tournament per year.
10000% in a few years brands will own teams. Like F1
Phil has a gambling addiction and he is just speculating
BTW, Don't be surprised if Team Smash is wearing Nike Jumpman golf attire, as it's well known Michael Jordan wants a stake in the men's professional golf game and it's no coincedence he's in Dubai this week. Rumor has it he's had meetings with Yasir Al-Rumayyan and Norman to explore ownership options. It's no secret that MJ hates Tiger and there's a lot of speculation Nike killed it's deal with him at Jordan's behest, as he wants no competition with his Jumpman golf apparel line. Now that Tiger's out, Jordan's in. In fact, the shoes in Koepka's tween look to be Nike Air Jordan Low G's. Connect the dots. Wouldn't surprise me if Jordan has an ownership stake in Team Smash.
If you looking for eyeballs, going to LIV that airs on the CW??? Not enough eyeballs @ all!
Nobody cares what I think. Too much energy spent on these knuckleheads. Wonder how the LPGA and LET are doing? Might be time to broaden my options.
Nike doesn’t have to “leave” the PGAT to support LIV teams, but I would think they would allow athletes out if they have an issue with it. As far as Phil goes, he was wearing Jordans on the course for a few events on LIV and majors I believe last year so it could have been in the works.
Brook made a shoe with his team name, so what? Anyone can get a custom pair of Nikes, just another LIV hoax.
