Five minutes of doing this is way better than hitting thousands and thousands of golf balls we’re focusing on an impact drill today that gets you here and really gets your swing working ready for the start of the season so I’d ask you this question what does a good impact
Look like so a good impact looks like this hips open weight transferred hands ahead now more importantly what does a good post impact look like rough around a foot after the ball something like this this is what we’re going to focus today of how we can improve your post
Impact not your impact because I I think people get the misconception here let me explain we all start guiding the club in like this and we’re focused on the specific point of impact but it’s like the analogy of right if I’m trying to punch something here put maximum forcing
It’s like I’m trying to hit through the wall and that’s what I want you to focus on we’re really going to be getting in this position so if we break this down you can see again my hips are open my weight’s transferred I’ve got a little
Bit of side bend over the golf ball but my club head is below my hands if we get flicky with this and we’ll rewt this back bad impact my club head right now would already be above my hands now that’s when you start losing a load of
Distance a load of power load of accuracy and this is a really great strike drill so let’s get into the drill now so the honest truth is if you want to improve impact we have just got to start making some swings below hip height stop thinking about all this
Let’s concentrate on this because I know how you finished the end of last season if it was good it was bad your game was a little bit like this through the season I want it to sort of be a steady curve up now and this is how this

We’re going to hover our club to begin with above the golf ball okay don’t address behind get the right ball position and hover it above the golf ball we’re then going to turn and swing through a foot through now you’ll notice I’m in that position now where the club
Head is down my thumbs are down the shaft is pointing down as well as my weight and my hips working in this direction okay if you just sort of move around me now I’ll just stay in this position so you can really analyze what I’m doing there and and just sort of
Take a mental note for yourself I’m not here I’m more here hitting one away first we’re going to stand there hover work through work back work back to where we went to so I call this a simple way of the reverse drill you’re tricking your brain into a feeling of right
That’s where I’m trying to get to swing back go back to it the reverse drill Works an absolute treat now let’s hit a few more and start building this up a little bit now you would have noticed there I didn’t hit that shot hard at all
Like literally not at all now I want you to start building this up now but if you ever lose that feeling in don’t be scared to start in the reverse above the ball and look at those positions again the shaft is pointing down the head’s down my right wrist is still in this
Position my hips are moving in this direction and just work back to hip height and through we’re really trying to control this element here now before we build this up what I want you to realize is we’re only working on this now but this same element is like a
Piece in a chunk of a puzzle that is just missing this top bit okay so even though we’re at this point here as we swing through the clubhead eventually does overtake my hands just when we’re not swinging at our best and we’re flicking it it overtakes it too early
We’re just trying to delay that process a little bit longer so really doing this is way better right five minutes honestly is way better than hitting thousands of balls because you’ve got an actual Focus an actual Focus so let’s hit one a little harder now but not to
The point where we can’t hold this comfortably so watch this right feel it back through that was so crisp so so crisp now if I slow that video down there and we analyze it and pause it at impact you can really see my hips are open my hands are ahead and then pause

Hey I’m 48 and hit my 7 iron maybe 150. Never been a long hitter but I do compress them My left wrist immediately after impact bends like I’m flicking the club. Any chance that I could send you my swing and give me some kind of idea how to improve. I hit straight and I would say 70-80% pure. I just don’t know how to gain distance. Everything feels so stiff and I don’t hinge

Dude what a joke, I have never seen any pro play hyper extend that kind of release. If you don’t know what you are doing then stick to your golf rumor and sensational news channel. Don’t give advice that makes players worse. Take a look at any slow motion golf swing videos from any pro and you clearly do not see them swing the club in this manner. Your example of what not to do is better.
