This is what I have to go through every day to keep my body able to play golf and compete in the Good Good Golf Tournament.

[Applause] He every day every day 3 minutes of pain now you might be asking yourself why do I torture myself so much and I’m going to show you right here watch this see I actually have a broken wrist it’s been broken for decades many years many years watch
Right there right there look at that that little piece right there so because of that broken wrist with my short irons when I’m up here the club wants to do this cuz my wrist wants to bend this way it doesn’t want to go that way cuz that
Actually hurts so with the short irons you get across like this and you come in and I start pushing everything to the right and with the longer clubs same thing will happen except it’ll come way from the inside and then you flip the hands too much and you start duck
Hooking the ball and when I’m under pressure situations tournament whatever or cold weather nighttime in February it’s going to be cool it gets even worse so I’ve got to do a lot of things in preparation for that still even with that you can and play golf if you take care of
Yourself people wonder what I do to stay fit you’re looking at it we’re a little warmed up little more warmed up come on one of the big questions was does my back get sore when I do that swing speed training and no and that’s because I do all this stuff to keep it
Uh loose and limber and inflammation free ice bath exercise heat warm cold warm stretch first I get the calf muscles if your calves are too tight it’s going to put strain on your lower back it’s just pulling you don’t want your muscles to be tight and pulling on
Your joints it will hurt so I stretch out the calves with the wall stretch where I put my heel as close to the wall and I really just try to Arch it in and get a good stretch on my calf do that both sides of few times then I switch
Over to my hip flexors my soaz muscles and I try to stretch those out as much as possible then I top it off with some hamstring stretches to really get that super flexible leg muscles hamstrings all that stuff leads to tight lower back if you get that stretched out and really
Work on that you’re going to have much better uh mobility and freedom when it comes your your back especially do this little guy too just try to get those hips nice and loosed up this stretch is good for a lot of things other than golf oh that’s hard right in [Applause]
There one of the things I found is that no matter how much you do if you eat horribly you’re just going to put all that inflammation back into your body so do your research of what foods are best for decreasing body inflammation I’ve done my research you do yours this is a garbanzo
Burger pretty good and most of us start our day off with some coffee I do too I don’t put anything in it it’s black if you put cream and sugar in there it’s just sugar and sugar it’s not going to work out for you you’re going to lose a lot of you is
What I’m saying can’t wait for the Masters God I drink this use this cup every day look at these guys chill in my yard let’s just say for the most part I do all my own editing driver review video coming Go part of my daily training routine is
Now including practicing for the good good uh Twan scramble tournament so that’s going to be my setup it’s going to be at grass clippings so training is Paramount because George and Wesley Bryant are the the Brian brothers are playing so we got a PJ tour winner going to be in that [Applause]
Deal and I’m not I’m not going there to be a goofball I’m going there my partner and I are going we’re going to win not to just show up so this is the Course scorecard they’re going to rearrange some holes but for the most part I think
This is what we’re going with we got 130 166 98 108 126 125 153 140 161 just kind of getting a good visual like what clubs I’m going to need to practice my partner can drive pretty much those par fours and fives so we’re good there so first things first we’re
Just going to warm up pitching wedge 120 yard shots so not full just recorder target practice so for me the key things I’m working on is a good solid just setup want to be comfortable I have a tendency to get my hands too far back so I’m just trying to
Keep them pretty middle and then as I take it back I’m trying not to do this but just fire in with this back knee first and then have a pretty solid left side as I’m hitting through okay and then um I’m trying to hit the center of the club face with the
Ball so I’m just doing the 40 shot drill what I like to call 40 shots for from 120 I do 40 shots from I go add 20 yards I do 140 I do 20 uh 40 shots 160 40 shots 180 40 shots what’s frustrating is that no matter how perfect I take it
Back every single time if my hand up here the broken one does this at all just a fraction look at that when you come down it’s way inside so I’m either way inside and I push it or I I flip it it goes left or I hold on and it goes
Even farther right so it doesn’t matter even so hard I work I’ve got to feel at the top just this which is painful my number one goal is this I want to start that ball allall exactly at my target every single time I don’t want it to really start to the
Right or to the left I want to know exactly where it starts if it draws great I can make adjustments if it fades fantastic I can make adjustments to where I aim but I always wanted to start where I’m looking or where I’m aiming cuz then I can adjust to that if it’s
Always starting a little right of it or a little left that’s hard to gauge out in reality land typically the ball starts the direction in which my back swing goes so if I take it too far inside then the ball is going to start
To the right if I take it too far out here I typically start it way left I’m always trying to start my back swing straight back that way I can start it right where I made you oh hit the fly stick it’s perfect and it’s more painful in the winter time
Than a nice warm summertime that’s why I’m really focused on that body motion cuz if I do the body motion I don’t have to do anything with my hand and wrist I just leave it there and it will be in a good position but my wrist no matter how hard I work
The body it wants to do that cuz it’s trying to avoid the painful part of it a lot of people always ask what do you work on when you’re hitting the ball like what are you practicing every every time I practice I work on one thing so always alignment that doesn’t count as
The one thing so I just set up line got everything good take away that doesn’t even count either that’s just takeway in the swing right now I’m working on just a firm left side firm left leg every time I don’t want to be all bent down
With that left leg cuz it creates a lot of inconsistency in where you hit it so if you can get that knee straight then you could really post up on that left side and have more cons consistency where the ball goes it’s in the water again

May want to watch some of Peter Finch's videos on Jumbomax…
What a fantastic video, I’m 23 and have what is simply known as degenerative tendons, which has resulted in me taking breaks the last 2 years however Ice baths, running, and strengthening exercises allow me to play two times a week sometimes 3 and practice. Truly have to put the effort into yourself if you want results
Who's your partner?
That looks like a scaphoid fracture? – I had one of those in a football game about 35 years ago, it went undiagnosed for a year or so, when it was eventually identified I was told it was going to cause me a lot of problems later on in life, well guess what, it now causes me untold amounts of pain which really hinders my golfing efforts, if yours is a scaphoid issue I would go down the surgery route again if at all possible, my two cents as they say..
So excited about your Good Good Scramble Tournament. Ive always asked my self… Haven’t they seen you and your game? Cant wait..
I'm a bit younger than you but still in my 40s. I find I have to work twice as hard to get half the results I did in my 20s and 30s. My diet also has to be absolutely spot on. It's worth it though. Keep on keeping on!
Are you using your new PXG clubs. Saw your fitting vid and it was epic…
I cant wait for this tournament and videos like this help add to the hype!
I have a broke right wrist too and I have the same issue with crossing over and the top. It actually makes my middle finger lock up sometimes when I grip the club. I broke it trying to hit out of thick rough and hit a hidden plant stump after hitting the ball.
Someone with the same issue I have dealt with for decades. My lunate bone is dead because I broke it in my 20's and never had it set. I have no flexibility in my right wrist and forget about doing a pushup. I do however play golf to a 1 index but have a hellava time using my right hand properly.
Good good luck guys 🏌🏽♀️⛳👍🏽!
Who is your partner???
Enjoy your VLOGs. You always have showers and bathing scenes, must be more challenging editing, lol.
For your issue I would try bowing your left wrist (palm toward ground like Dustin Johnson or Jon Rahm) at top of backswing and right wrist will stay in position you are looking for. But don't mess yourself up😂😂
Why don't you have corrective surgery? End the pain… such an easy fix, nowadays. Or at least have the calcium deposits/scar tissue removed?
Good luck in the Good Good tournament! Would love to watch in person. When and where is the tournament exactly? Anybody?
Dude….good on ya for the fitness..!..but his is a bad ass basement dude! Lets get a tour video!
Maybe consider looking for a wrist wrap or support that will allow to keep the wrist stable without pain.
Why not try JumboMax grips? I had all sorts of injuries, back, wrist, shoulder, etc, until I put JumboMax grips on. Those grips saved this 56 year old body. I have far less moving parts in my swing now. I went from blades, steel shafts, regular grips, to easier heads, graphite shafts, and JM grips. Golf became fun again.
Love it! Very timely for me personally. I turn 50 (what!?!) next month and my wife is constantly on me to stretch. I really need to develop a program and be consistant with my health. Keep it up, Matt and good luck in the tourney!
I got exactly the same wrist break from an old motorcycle injury. I have to strap it up in the winter and expecting the pai on each shot is something that you just have to get used to.😫
They can fix that with a headless compression screw
Matt, you have to be an idiot to do that cold bath thing. Does nothing for your body. Regardless what you think.
Thanks for this video. I broke my scaphoid many years ago while snowboarding and had surgery to repair it, but I still have very limited mobility in my right wrist. My main miss is a block to the right. This helped me realize what I need to concentrate on to avoid that miss.
I compacted two vertebrae in a motorcycle accident years ago and they fused. Do you think I can blame that for not being able to keep my head down through my swing? lol
Jon Rahm it. Maybe that would help you. Shorten the back swing for everything.
I see you faking your videos at Atlanta national right now
I don't know why you don't have one million + subscribers. Everything you put out is informative and fun. Thank you. If I could subscribe again, I would.
I had surgery on my wrist due to Kienböck's disease playing baseball, I now play golf but I use the Kroger Wrist Brace, it works perfect and keeps my wrist in place. I now can golf 3 times a week with less pain and recover in time for the following week. Highly recommended and it's only $10
Best of luck! Interested to know more about the drop down net. Maker, cost, etc. Thanks!
Navicular/Scaffoid? I broke it as a teenager, and it never healed "right" – makes my wrist R.O.M. limited on my right hand for sure.
Lol, I have the same break in my left wrist 😂, been broken since 2014 and I am playing golf again with it.
My lead wrist/thumb has been in a lot of pain. No breaks as far at the xray shows. Have to get an MRI to figure out what it is. No idea what to think but I definitely miss hit a lot of shots due to trying to avoid the pain
Hats off to you cowboy.
what's in the GIANT Edel case?????😉
Scaphoid lunate fracture? I had one. 1 year in a cast with 1 year recovery
