All right all right am I ready am I ready here do I have everything I don’t think I’m ever ready really but let’s get going here first off I have my uh this is going to be structures and stability of sport we’re going to focus on looking at golf this time and how

That uh uh that ecosphere operates in terms of the sport and The Business of sport and why it’s so successful what’s happening with live golf why Liv golf was able to attack that model uh basically they’ve disrupted the stability of the golf echosphere and that’s going to have a lot of

Consequences which is why yes I know I don’t have the podcast shirt on I have my Greg Norman my Greg Norman shark series can you see oh it’s over here there’s a little shark guy over here right there got it for Greg Norman don’t worry podcast uniform is

Right back there if you didn’t know I’m in my office here this is my office okay I live in Brentwood right in the middle of Los Angeles on the west side so I come in here shut the door this is where I work from actually uh and uh yeah I’ve

Been here for quite a while it’s really good but let’s get back to what you all came here for as many of you know my name is Kent stephus Olympic gold medalist in beach volleyball number one player in the world uh super great guy obviously right but I also went to

Business school I went to stand for business school so I like to talk about sports and I like to talk about the business of sports but I’m not a fan of sports okay so I’m not a fan like many of you might be right I like them and I

Watch him I’m more of a winners and champions model so I watch just the elite of elite the best so the world championships the Olympics the World Cup finals uh World Series Super Bowl things like that and I’ll watch I’ll watch the Masters for sure I like that uh

Occasionally we’ll watch US Open but you know PGA championships don’t care is that even major no it’s I don’t think it’s a major I’m sure if you’re a golf fan you’re probably screaming right now the Open Championship which is the British Open as we used to call it does

That count is that like half Point Half Point for that one oh God see that’s the point the point is perspectives right the point is that different people are going to look at sports differently remember that if you’ve been following uh some of these uh podcasts I’ve been

Doing I I put that I put that that that graph out there where 90% of our fans only came to one event okay and 10% of our fans would come 10% of our fans would come to 10 or more events okay so you had 10% of our fans that were super

Users they wanted to see all these bunch of different people but 90% of our fans came only once and who do they want to see that’s right they only want to see the star so how you position your sport is going to be important in that so uh

Yeah PGA championships to me is not a major but you have to have four right because it’s a grand slam It’s a grand slam all right remember back in the fibb days they had like 15 grand slams I was on a I was on a I was call with the fibb

And singen actually and I said hey guys you can only have four grand slams and they’re like what do you mean like four grand you can only have four grand slams because it’s a grand slam it’s baseball reference right you know three runners on guy hits a home run Grand Slam home

Run so way you have the grand slams why baseball has to do anything with golf or tennis so everybody’s guess tennis is the same thing too Australian Open it doesn’t really count French P you know my daughter would give it a one point I give it a half Point

Wimbleton right Wimbleton and US Open are the ones the true Champions want to win but that’s only because I’m not a super fan of those sports are you getting my point are you getting my point maybe not all right but my point is is that I played golf actually I

Played at the Rivier Country Club right here in Los Angeles where the Genesis open takes place and it is not only a fabulous course but it is a great place to watch a golf tournament all right uh if you’ve ever been to the Rivier Country Club SP spot of the Los Angeles

Open the Genesis open you can just walk right down one side uh of the course back up around the other side you get to see every hole you get to see every single player then you go up on top you can see the whole course from the VIP

Area oh yes I got the VIP tickets thank you very much uh thank you very much uh Chen thank you uh of course I don’t pay for tickets right who pays for tickets we’re going to talk about that we’re going to talk about how very few people

Pay for tickets so if you’re talking about audience and bringing audience to an event you’re going to have to think about that because most people don’t buy tickets actually it’s kind of funny all right that’s going to be part of this show it’s all encompassing it’s all

Inclusive all right not a very good golfer did go to the US Open this year too at the LA Country Club LA Country Club another great course played have played both the North Course and the South course many times a terrible place to watch a golf tournament terrible

Place I went to the US Open on Sunday uh somebody gave me tickets really Ken you mean you didn’t buy a ticket to go to the US Open of course I didn’t buy a ticket only 10% of people actually buy tickets to go to sporting events like a

Golf tournament we’re gonna get to that later hold on all right hold on you’re gonna have to take this podcast in uh different bunch of sections because it might get a little long not sure not sure I’m working I’m working on shrinking I’m working I’m working people

I’m trying but I like to talk that’s why maybe read my Facebook post I’m really tight on the Facebook post on the writing maybe I’ll get that way here I’m practicing it’s it’s new to me and I’m having a great time anyway and I don’t

Have to go to work for a little while yes then I haven’t my coffee so it’s not going to be sped up anyway the the Los Angeles Country Club was a terrible place to watch a h golf tournament because not because the course is bad

Because uh it’s not set up to have you know 40,000 fans 20 even 20,000 fans they had half the normal audience that a US Open has US Open audience or lot on the golf course usually about four 40,000 people per day this they could only handle 20,000 you couldn’t get

Around okay you couldn’t get around so we’re we’re watching on the ninth and we’re kind of up on the hill and uh you know all the good guys are coming in Sunday and when they went from 9: to 10 you actually couldn’t follow them all right you couldn’t follow them from 90

You couldn’t follow a golfer around the course you had to then go back over this way over here so we said screw it we went to the merchandise tent all right so which was across the street so they built a bridge over Wilshire so we bailed the course went across the bridge

To the merchandise store got some merch right got to get the hat for my daughter she wanted a hat Tracy wanted something too so we didn’t really watch much of the golf and then we came back and we stayed uh we spent the rest the whole

Day most of the day uh at the um the members uh Pavilion so you know Los Angeles Country Club is a private club they have a big they had a big giant members Pavilion and it was huge air conditioned beers on tap cocktails food whatever ever you

Wanted and someone else was paying was on someone else’s tab of the ell Country Club I’m not going to say who you don’t know so I spent most of Sunday in the membership uh tent watching the game on TV on a big screen TV so the big giant

TV so was watching a golf event while I was at the golf course watching it on television it was a wonderful experience I highly recommend it but before we get started it’s a little bit of beach volleyball news as I said I’m a beach volleyball player so like to bring a

Little bit of that in to sort of uh talk about other sports how other sports are successful what they’re doing try to relate it to beach volleyball because that’s what I did that’s my passion to anybody out there who uh uh likes volleyball or even other little Minor

Sports if you’re say swimming or wrestling couple wrestle wrestler people who were interested in like growing wrestling called me once same thing in wrestling same thing in all the sort of minor Minor Sports and that’s kind of one of the weird tragedies of beach volleyball like it’s never going to be a

Big sport it’s never going to be football basketball baseball hockey it’s it’s not going to be tennis it’s not going to be golf right but it’s not going to be swimming and there’s nothing wrong with swimming right I’m not bagging on the swimmers but there’s not going to be professional swimming I mean

Philadelphia is not going to swim against Los Angeles in a professional uh swimming league but beach volleyball you know Beach indoor God indoor maybe right indoor maybe but there’s just too many sports in the United States Europe’s a whole different story I’m talking to the United States you can have a a decent

Beach volleyball tour in the United States with good crowds and good money I mean I used to call it back I used to call it a a major minor sport so of the Minor Sports it was the major one but it wasn’t a major sport we’d never be a

Major minor sport like right so hockey’s kind of the kind of the redheaded stepsister of the uh of of the world they’re they’re a lot smaller than football and basketball and you know uh not as big as baseball either right so they’re they’re trailing forth tennis

And golf are kind of on their own but yeah Beach F could be okay and that’s actually was I’ll get to the story here so this week my man Travis morard Su Trav when are you coming on my podcast actually I haven’t had a guest yet Hey

Try maybe we’ll do a podcast together we’ll call it I don’t know you know bsing with the boy with the boys with with the volley boys uh anyway so they dropped another sandcast episode I recommend that you go watch it it’s really cool because they do the mailbag

And they ask questions the first one of which is what’s happening with the AP tour right we got a new owner who’s not an owner he’s an equity investor you know again we’ll get a little more detail in these things but don’t worry about that and is according to trior so

Triborn says well they called me in they called me and some other players in to tell us what’s going to happen and he goes this is this is the key tribor goes I talked to some people I trust and it looks good you know but uh you know I’ve

Heard it before I’ve heard it back and forth and the last guys didn’t do so well see that’s always what a volleyball volleyball Beach volleball players are Eternal optimists right no matter how many times they’ve been screwed over or the other guys have done it wrong the

Next guy is going to do it right trust trust me trust me I trust them guys they I talk to them bro they’re cool that this is such a I’ve been in sport for 40 years i’ been this SP for 40 years and it’s trib board you could have

Transported back to 1996 when the thing was about to go bankrupt you would have been said same thing about the Harry Usher that who ran this board Harry Usher The Biggest Loser on the planet failed business executive somehow got in charge of ABP beach volleyball and the whole thing you know went down

For not many reasons a very few reasons which uh maybe I’ll get into sometimes again I don’t care the point is try born all right let me explain it to you there’s a one way a sport works there’s only one way beach volleyball can be successful and these guys are not going

To do it why we’re going to talk about it right we’re actually gonna talk about because you shouldn’t have asked whether you could trust them you shouldn’t have asked what their dumb plan for City versus city which isn’t G to work just like live golf with their team concept

Is not going to work maybe but it’s not going to be as bad for them what you should have asked them for is uh what’s their strategy uh uh what’s their micro influencer strategy to generate audience H did you ask them that trior what’s the micro influencer strategy to drive

Audience you’re going to learn about that n yes you try everybody else here should have asked him well who’s the guy who has sold multi-year multi-million dollar sponsorship packages yeah you can’t just say I’m in charge of the AP hey I’m in the AP and

Walk up to some sponsor and say hi did you give us m multi-e multi-million dollar sponsorship contract you know why it doesn’t work they know you don’t know what you’re doing okay you need somebody who’s experience in that uh by the way you don’t even go up to a sponsor you go

Up to the ad agencies all right so the ad agencies and they know right they know beach volleyball everyone knows all the sports and Sports Marketing right all the agencies know all the sports they know all the players and guess what do you know who the players are and in

Beach volleyball do you guys do anybody know who the players are not the the guys who play the game but the swinging D’s all right or you know the big all right you gotta this isn’t the concept you’re going to learn here the swing and

D’s all right it’s not it’s the D with an ick at the end or you can say Hicks and replace the H with a d swinging Hicks swinging D’s you get the big swinging D’s in a room which you’re going to see what happened with golf and

Oh decisions are hard to make because everyone’s whipping that thing all over the place everyone’s pounding their chest I know what to do I know what to do and trust me they don’t there are a couple swing and DS that know what they’re doing and they’re involv let me

Give you that this way so I gave you the concept of the single entity ownership model all right single entity ownership which means one guy or one entity owns a sport which is rare okay really rare and they don’t work right they don’t work for a reason uh they worked in they work

In formul one in NASCAR but those are car races I told you a million times are car races they are not Sports per se right UFC did it and again I told you that they curate the I said they fix the matches and I don’t mean I don’t mean

That they actually uh uh determine the outcome right so the fighters fight and whoever wins wins like UFC doesn’t determine the outcome it’s not staged but they do determine who gets the title shot okay they curate it or fix it as the just easier word because it’s not

It’s not like a tournament where you know the best fighter first of all you have to sign a contract with UFC and if you don’t sign a contract you don’t fight and if you don’t fight you can’t win the championship and they can also mess with you Google it’s in the emails

Emailing back and forth all right but that’s how that’s how the that’s how fight games work all right if you know anything about boxing the reason why boxing isn’t as big as it used to be is because they can’t fix the fights all right they can fix the fights like UFC

Again not the competition but uh how it works and in the future I got uh both a Facebook post and a podcast in the Box industry where I did the sweet science I’m doing the dark trade I got the black lights another another fight book so I’ve been studying fighting that’s what

I do in my free time before work because I get up early wow I am completely anyway triborn triborn the question you have to ask yourself all right is who makes the up right who makes the up the problem with the single enti again so the single entity ownership

Structures there’s distributed promoter models which all the successful sports are every single one of them they have elements of other things in them um there’s the uh there’s the sponsor Centric right where a single sponsor kind of might own part of a sport some of them

Like the Red Bull they own entire sports but those aren’t even considered Sports you see so Sports have a certain structure all right structure stability that’s the uh that’s the tagline of this podcast that I’m talking about they have certain structures which make them successful again all the other ATT all

The other things have been tried they’ve been tried and failed which means when the new swinging D comes in they’re always from New York they’re always Rich guys because they made money doing you know Financial stuff which I do I do did you guys two weeks ago I told you about

Uh CBO o evx did you look it up did you invest it’s up it’s up big you missed out that’s what I do for a living all right I make rich people Rich right vanderp vanderp you’re out there all right was that on the board were you

There down there in Chicago were you were you a Vick guy wait were you a bond Guy Vander or a great beach volleyball person all right he by the way he’s one of The Gatekeepers if he didn’t know just I don’t want to ruin your secrets Scott vandor but he’s one of The

Gatekeepers in the sport as of I so did anybody ask me my opinion did anyone ask me if what the AP is doing right now is okay I mean first gold medalist number one guy stay for business school does anybody did you get Kent stor and asked

Him that did you get Kent’s permission on this oh God oh my God Travis is laughing right now Travis I can hear you laughing through the interwebs you’re laughing why on Earth would they ask Kent they called me a c at the AP you believe that

They call me a cook maybe I am but the point is I am one of those Gaye Keepers people call me and ask ask me what they should do in beach volleyball yes they so when uh people are saying try to raise money they call me hey Kent you’re

The beach volleyball guy who is the business guy should I invest in this company and what do you think I tell them and I’m actually uh just one of them there’s a couple of them so it’s not just me uh it comes back to this who

Is making a decisions in a single entity ownership model who makes decisions in a sport because they have incredibly uh large implications going forward let’s just throw labero in there labero we’ll give him a different uniform that’ll solve all our problems who made that

Decision can I can I get a vote on that because that’s dumb for many reasons I won’t get into it this is an indoor program that’s your guys’s problem anyway it’s beach volleyball this is sports sports business so there’s all right there’s specifically as I told you

A guy and I’m not gonna mention his name a guy that every time the AP goes to a sponsor or an ad agency like anytime the new guy comes in to beach volleyball he goes around to all the players okay okay he goes around to the adage sees and the

Sponsor give us money or he goes to the television uh people and say hey we want to do this and this and they call that guy they called that guy and they said should we work with these people and guess what he says no okay you can’t that’s another

One of the reasons why AP struggles be internationally has got its own problems and I’ve talked about that but there’s a perfect example that there is not the the people who are The Gatekeepers the mavens the ones these behind the scenes and it’s not it’s not nefarious it’s not

It’s not like it’s not like you know the bilderbergs or the Luminati all right the the people this guy told you about is not part of the Illuminati because if it was Illuminati it would be great be would good they exist all right so it’s

Not that but it is this sort of um the PE the people in the industry know who the players are uh the the business players and who they if they’re when they’re involved the sport does well and when they’re not it doesn’t and you’re seeing that okay so let’s talk about all

The rule changes that are happening with the swing and D’s come in and whether they’re good or not all right so the first thing you notice with all these new leagues all right whether it’s Liv XFL usfl is they always change the rules it’s really weird okay like Liv is like

We’re gonna have shorts not long pants you’re like why’d you do that like why don’t you just do the same thing the other sport did you know a shotgun okay I can understand that but not really like just do the same thing the other other sport did and you’ll get owgr

Points and you have no problem oh oops the three-day things but there’s that’s actually an okay the three-day thing is going to be I’m going to talk about that because that is critical that was the critical decision all the other ones are garbage and their web page is terrible

And we’ll look at it later on and uh a lot that that that their broadcasts are horrible they look like for like formula one right they have the leaderboard the team concept the team concept is dumb and it’s not going to work uh maybe I’ll get into it maybe I won’t the team

Concept is not going to work but it’s it’s harmless right because there a competition within a competition so it’s not going to snc you like it could if it was like if they just went like AP when they go to the city vers City it’s not going to work nobody’s gonna care you

Know to that 10% of your audience 10% of your audience might love the City versus City like those are the people try that are surrounding the sport those are the people you talk to the people that so care about it that they would love a city vers City how cool whereas the

Other 90% are going to be like I think I got something else to do in the fall when you’re bringing that up okay but let’s look at the XFL and the usfl okay just just just do the same rules as the NFL they’ve mastered it they’re the

They’re one of the best sports leag in the planet but no Danny Garcia no Danny Garcia you know better you know better than 100 Years of NFL people who have worked their lives in this because you do not want to have an extra point kick

An extra point you want a one point a two point but no no not satisfied you have a three-point extra point all right you can’t go for one two that’s going to bring in the audience well no one’s watching it and the worst one is this let me give you one I’ll

Give you one that’s Technical and again I I want to do these podcast I want to talk about these things because I want to expand on uh what I write about if you want the quick version the easy version just go to that all right it’s

It’s really condensed but I want to be more complete in in these conversations and I hope you enjoy it and if it works great and if not and I’ll go back and do it in five minutes but that’ll be no fun but anyway so uh the XFL uh like

Everyone’s going for everyone’s going for the replay all right so the instant replay because they don’t want the calls to be screwed up now why was the instant replay put into put in practice right the instant replay was put into practice in football okay because the games are so important right it matters

Who wins the football game because it’s millions of dollars and billions of dollars and it’s gigantic cities and hundreds of fans okay and and one one turnover or one drop pass or one incompletion or one interception could not only turn the game around but the season around to determine who the

Winner is individual plays in football are so enormously important that they have to get them right so they instituted the re the re into replay because the cameras got so good that the fans at home could tell that they blew the call all right that wasn’t a catch

He didn’t catch the touchdown it was a incomplete he just rolled over that’s why they implemented because it’s not the best thing to do because it stops the game it stops the game and they have to go there and wait and look at the video or you’re sitting around on TV

Going can you get the game going I mean one of the problems that the NFL has is the games are are too long in comparison to how long the actual action is so it’s 60 Minutes of time over a three-h hour period have you ever been to an NFL game

I don’t like to go to NFL games anymore because they’re you just sit around watching nothing all the time they have two three four minute breaks all the time in between the games right so they score a touchdown they kick an extra point they go to commercial they kick

Off they go to commercial then they go to a two-minute they have a timeout it’s a commercial right so you had to make a really big decision a tradeoff between another stoppage at the game delay in the game especially down at the end when it’s getting excited like right that’s

When you really want the calls to go out well other sports have taken that and are starting what I drop something here other sports looked at that and said well we’re basketball Let’s do an instant replay oh let me get back oh hold on let me get back to the XFL sorry

Then I’ll talk about basketball then I’ll talk about other sports so the XFL comes in and says not only are we gonna that one they ated the NFL so instead of doing the extra points correctly like the NFL does on the instant replay they expanded what the NFL did so first of

All nobody cares who wins an XFL game or usfl game so you don’t need instant replay doesn’t matter okay who gives a crap who wins the XFL game versus you know you know if you could you can get that game time down like two hour if you

Get an XFL or usfl game down to two two and a half hours like that’s a rule change which might drive some audience right so hey it’s a two-hour football game right we smash everything together no you know no halftime no nothing just go go go like by the way soccer again

It’s comprehensive and it’s going to go all over the map but it’s the same we’re driving on the same goal soccer if you notice has a running clock they have the extra time they’ve run a clock which means they have no commercials except on the side like they

Don’t stop for commercial breaks like they do in the United States think about that for a second okay that’s why it’s really popular too right it’s not the constant breaks it’s 90 minutes of soccer with the extra time which is kind of weird like they don’t have an end but

So but XFL then began to create a star out of the replay official all right so they have the replay booth and they have cameras around the replay booth and you get to listen in oh my God it’s really exciting to listen in to the replay Booth official go over the call and

You’re thinking no it’s not okay this is where people The Swinging D’s in business don’t get sports right I I do not want to watch the uh I do not want to watch the replay official I want to watch the stars of the sport I want to

Watch the quarterback in the running I want to watch football right I want to watch guys slamming into each other I do not want to watch some nerd and a Booth looking at replay video it’s it’s absurd and plus they’re not even that excited okay let’s roll it back uh I’m going to

Get you a spot of where the ball fell down okay it’s at the 32 yard line yes okay well let’s get a third uh like it’s it’s boring as well and it’s not exciting unless of course you’re one of these one percenters all right so 90% of

Your crowd doesn’t care they just want action 10% might be in 1% is like holy mackel this is making it I’d never watch it without that you know then of course you listen in on the offensive coordinator talking to the quarterback and like that matters like uh yeah x75 Roger Roger Wright cake

X75 like I was watching these games these XFL games and they were showing the Fe listening to the feed between the offensive coordinat it was mind numbing mind numbing you’re like what do you think they’re gonna say Jesus Christ you didn’t hit the open man he’s open

Godamn it hit the open God you think that’s what the offensive coordinator is telling the quarterback in between plays let me give you a tip I played with K Karai for seven years I think we said four words to each other actually three four yeah maybe maybe in seven years he

Doesn’t talk during during games he just sits there we he wouldn’t say we might just go like let’s get the next site out that that would be it if that would be four times we’d say that in seven years like athletes don’t always talk to each

Other like well you know what we did we we do this we this is I block line I block angle and I take the ball that’s how we communicated during the game let’s get the next s out that was it okay you can mic us up doesn’t get any

Better than that because we’re playing the game um God am I no no we’re on track trust me you got to trust me in these things we are on track okay uh the point is the point is is that you they come up with these rule changes and these things um

All right so oh back to the back oh back to the stopping of the game basketball okay basketball’s now starting to do the instant replay on the little tip out of bounds there’s there’s 200 plays in a in a basketball game none of which none of

Any single no single thing matters in a basketball game maybe down down to the end just go just go make the call go they even it out but no and we have to see whether it’s a flager one or flager two like all right the reason why

Basketball was not that popular in the United States back before the 80s and 90s and I’ll tell you why I got the books right there I’ll pull them out for you um was because it was just it was it was all right it was it was slow all

Right you didn’t play basketball I played basketball in high school right so I played basketball in high school um and I didn’t play golf and we’re gonna get to golf because this is the structur to SP the golf but it’s all the same thing all right um I’m gonna explain to

You why live golf it’s doing what it’s doing and what is going to happen with golf in in the PGA but if you don’t get the broader picture if you don’t you know kind of see the whole thing so we ran the uh John Wooden High post offense

Which you just you know go back and forth you run around sit in screens picks you’re trying to get the open man because the defense collapses on the basket they play zone which was illegal in the NBA but that didn’t matter because everyone collapses on and it’s B

It’s slow and boring okay it’s slow and boring as a matter of fact Dean Smith of North Carolina remember Dean Smith with the Four Corners offense so Dean Smith would get get a couple early buckets he’d go up four- Z and he would then stall the entire game which is really

Boring so they put in two things oh okay then the second thing is if you understand basketball this is the way basketball works when you’re at the end of the game you foul and the game slows down so the entire game is really exciting the guys going back and forth

They’re dunking they’re passing they’re shooting and at the very end of the game at the most exciting The Game catastrophically Stops right just foul free throw foul free throw foul free throw like just could play the game well so one of the things they did was they instituted 24 second clock and they

Instituted three-point Ru and that changed the game that actually basketball game you could change with a rule change football you could change with a rule change used to be three yards in a cloud of dust and they opened up they basically allowed the defense they stopped the defense from harassing

The wide receivers you can’t touch the wide receivers Now open up the passing game change the game most some people don’t like it they like it that hard hitting you know down the middle kind of stuff same with basketball so uh the 24 second clock sped it up so you can’t

Dean Smith can no longer do the four corners you can’t like do the John Wayne John Wayne John Wooden High post offense which took a long time to develop because you’re you’re just moving guys around trying to get an open space to shoot then the three-point line took the

Problem at the end of the game uh out of convis because you don’t necessarily have to foul somebody to get back in the game you can shoot a three-point shot all right my fingers aren’t working today three-point shot so you can shoot a three-point shot the opponent’s might

Only shoot a two you can get back in the game it’s not necessarily necessarily necessary to foul unless you’re doing the hacka shack remember the hacka shack anyway my point is is that basketball is kind of going backwards with the uh with the uh replay review and look out for it

Okay baseball remember baseball had that problem at the end of a game they keep switching out pitures right they keep switching out pitures and the games went from like two and a half hours to five hours so they had to make rule changes they implemented rule changes to deal

With that um uh which is funny because the rule change they implemented was if you bring in a picture he’s got to face a minimum of three batters which is weird like why you should be able to switch whenever you want but ready I was like sports like well like this like

That well here was a rule change they could have done uh you can replace the pitcher you got you got 30 seconds to get him on the mound to pitch pitch pitch a baseball yeah okay not manager comes out to the to to the mound and

Then the pitcher leaves and he points to the bullpen and the bullpen guy is warming up he grabs a jacket and he walks to the door and he walks to the mound and then he gets eight warm-up pitches well there’s a realle change you just say look put whoever you want in on

The pitching M he’s got to come in now so you warm them up like basketball or like any other sport by football okay you don’t get to stop the game to bring in a replacement player all right those Sports just you can hockey even too in

The middle of game you just jump out on the ice and get going they don’t stop the game you see my point this when you start looking at sports like this you go like somebody in that meeting say hey why don’t we just why we just say look

Get the guy warmed up have him in the Dugout and if you want to switch him switch him anytime you want switch him 50 times a game I don’t know how many players you got all right so some so the that’s the point is like some rule

Changes work some things can work in certain Sports of course those are the big ones and they’re popular for a reason right football basketball are popular for a reason because they’re very dynamic they have a lot going on you know volleyball like I keep saying you know you could make all the real

Changes you want in Javelin throwing and probably golf you’re not gonna or Beach Vol you’re not going to change what is the structure of the game okay and you can’t just be doing all these gimmicks so Beach Vol is doing all these gimmicks is which is what Liv is doing golf only

Louder oh okay you got loud music playing G you have shorts G you got you got shotgun format G you got that you got the stupid Formula One you know keeping track of who’s up on the left side of the broadcast and there their website I’ll tell you a funny thing

About their website when get there it’s got reverse lettering oh you didn’t read your Ogie we’ll get into there right so you need to build a sport Brick by Brick and not stick by stick as they say you need to build it Brick by Brick and not

Stick by shtick so the AP beach volleyball in the United States even internationally they just go from one stick to another all the time and it fails and live golf is uh is in the middle the pressure that’s coming okay we’re gonna we’re going to start carving back in to golf and structures

And stability the problem is is that there’s just so much money flooding into sports uh and the leagues are getting more valuable that they’re searching all the time out there for revenue and more revenue and this Revenue okay the Washington commanders just sold for $6 billion okay $6

Billion and where are they going to get that money from to pay for that investment all right from a football game like football oh you know what 14 weeks is enough we’ll have 17 games oh but we’ll have a we have 18 weeks oh we’ll expand the playoffs oh you see

What’s going on you see what’s going on they’re going to keep expanding the weeks expanding the playoffs to generate more Revenue basketball is the same way that stupid inseason basketball tournament what the hell is that like who cares right it’s a champion oh we have an inseason basket tourament okay

All right and they had the weird painted floors like I couldn’t even watch it because I couldn’t see the the guy on the floor but but my point is they’re doing this because Revenue are D revenue is driving decision-making not uh what is best for the sport or for the

Athletes or for the Athletics okay it’s gonna get it’s going to become important right so what you’re seeing in basketball as they’re doing load manage right players are just not playing as much and this is what is this is the key to live this is what Liv did this is

Living Golf and we’ll get there okay um they have that uh they got to do so they have longer schedules um you know even the US Open tennis okay it starts on Monday wraps around um um Labor Day and then goes to the next weekend they want

To squeeze the they want to know do three weekends but it’ll interrupt like that’s how they’re trying to gener they want to keep expanding the day that the days that US Open happens and golf golf has got to the point where right so golf is you know live is three days and golf

Is four days all right on the p but it’s not four days you got to play in the proam on Wednesday and you got to be there earlier and because you have sponsor commitment so you know it’s not it’s not I’ll get to it when I get to it

But the PGA is like 20 events a week long and Liv golf came and said look three days 14 times and guys are like really I get to P play less oh and we’ll pay you more wait a minute you pay me more and I have I still get to play golf

Tour just get rid of all the other sense like that is how sports are golfer are on the cusp of what’s going to happen in sports right when you start seeing football players not playing for four weeks out of a season because they don’t want to get injured or basketball

Players with the load management uh they’re trying to get into like reality TV show all right reality TV show everybody’s got to have a reality TV show because Formula One drive to survive that was so successful so but again formula one’s not a sport it’s not

A sport you can’t compare it and anyway they have a billion fans right they have a billion billion fans so but then UFC UFC did the reality you know the reality fighter your ultimate fighter and that no what the ultimate fighter showed to Dana White in the UFC and I’m writing

About this in a couple weeks it showed them that they have to curate fights right they have to fix the fights the moment they curate the fights like the IBC did back in the 50s they will make a lot of money and they made a fortune

Okay so you can’t just throw on a reality TV show but what does the NFL have to do they have to get Revenue they have to get revenue for their owners because the owners are buying these things and uh they’re too expensive so they have a reality TV show what is it

Called Hard Knocks none of the teams want to have that distraction in their locker room it is an incredibly large distraction for a football team to have a reality TV show play and guys get all on each other and because again they want to have controversy they’re trying

To tell them to do stuff you know and yelling at them and the teams say no so this right so this is what the NFL did the NFL said okay if nobody volunteers we’re just gonna pick one and you’re stuck all right the coaches hate it the

Players hate it the staff hate like because it’s a distraction right you want to know why Tim TBO doesn’t play the NFL anymore why isn’t Tim TBO play in the NFL it was becoming too much of a distraction okay too much of a distraction because of U you know who he

Was and what was going on I won’t get into it but just Google it it’ll tell you why like we showed up the Patriots in 20 uh 20 camera ban showed up and every questions TBO and they’re asking all the team TBO it was a distraction in

The locker room and that is catastrophic all right that’s death to a football team Mike Brown okay Mike Brown was the first uh homosexual or out what what what whatever they call it out or open open homosexual to be drafted in the NFL and he went to the Rams right no Pro

Nobody gave a that he was a homosexual but they did care about that he contacted Oprah Winfrey and wanted to do a reality TV show about the first uh you know gay black man in the NFL all right that didn’t work for the Rams all right uh Colin Kaepernick okay Colin

Kaepernick takes the knee you know controversy erupts uh you know a team is not going to hire him uh somewhat because of of the controversy like if you said you said well Colin Kaepernick uh hasn’t been picked up by an NFL team because of the controversy surrounding his kneeling during the national anthem

You get partial credit okay you get partial credit because that wasn’t all it was all right the reason why Colin Kaepernick’s not playing in the NFL is because he’s an RPO quarterback and he cannot read the D at the mesh okay he cannot read the D at the mesh if you

Don’t know what RPO is you don’t know where the meshes your contributions to the conversation of Colin Kaepernick are less than interesting okay yes he could not read the at the mesh why why because the defenses were telling their uh defensive ends to slow walk and they were scraping the linebackers okay all

Right slow walk the D scrape the linebackers what did I tell you if there’s one thing you take from this podcast I want take this you must be Gap sound you must be Gap sound all right that is critical to life be gaps down you can’t go in there swimming and

Hunting all right you can’t swim and hunt and expect to win a football game Colin Kaepernick’s just going to run out and beat you downfield you got to be gaps down right that’s why you see Tom Brady at the line of scrimmage under Center look looks up stands up points

And says 57s the mic 57s the mic right what is he saying well he’s not playing anymore so you don’t even get to see it anymore he’s calling out who the middle linebacker is the Mike is the middle linebacker Tom Brady’s identifying because they’re scraping the linebackers okay

Which is why he was able to pick apart defenses and Colin Kaepernick was not okay and that is why he is not in the NFL all right he was a great player I watched him when he was in college it was it University of aino yeah but the

The defense is shifted uh on him and he just couldn’t adapt uh and anyway the protest whether you like it or not doesn’t bother me don’t care occurred during the national anthem here’s a little tip and we’re going to get back again we’re driving down the same

Highway you think this is I’m going all over the place but I am not I’m driving down the same Highway okay when Colin Kaepernick was kneeling because of the issues he was bringing up which are fine I don’t care uh it was because it was during the national anthem now the

Football players were never out on the field during the national anthem right they used to be in the locker room in the locker room play the national anthem football players come out play football what happened what changed an Army commercial right an Army commercial right or the military United

States Military Department of Defense the Department of Defense pays the NFL $200,000 a game $200,000 a game to unfurl the giant flag bring out the army guys in the milit right so you got the Army Navy Air Force Marines Coast Guard space force see they’re even they’re

Expanding right used just be before now we have to have the Coast Guard space force there’s gonna be cyber force and underground who knows the point is point is it’s a commercial okay all right because they need money all right right and here right so like one you got a guy

Who is doing political statements in uh sporting events that is happening too uh money decisions are driving how the game operates that’s number three you know and third of all if army army people all right if you want to adver I get it advertising in a football game because

They’re tough guys all right but maybe you wanna maybe you want to advertise to at the Lambda Lambda Lambda fraternity okay like um that’s where you’re going to get your guys for the future Army right because when you’re in the trenches all right and the AI powered

Robot attack dogs right back by the Drone swarm are assaulting The Trenches you don’t want a hard you don’t you don’t want a door kicker right you don’t want you know a big hard guy you need the trilam with his computer who’s gonna hack Skynet and uh stop those guys from overrunning your

Position you don’t believe me you don’t believe me just go check out the Russo Ukrainian War all right the Uso Ukrainian War there was one FS FBS drone operator one guy with an iPhone who over the last month has systematically wiped out an entire Battalion all right an

Entire Battalion and that’s a lot of dudes world’s changing world’s changing and football is no different all right what where am I and what am I talking about anyway there you go Lambda Lambda Lambda attack dog robot attack dogs drone swarms go golf that’s what you

Want came here Fork golf okay let us go to the slides which is what I know you all like right you guys like the slides this is like a class slideshow all right from the beginning first first first let’s talk a little bit about golf right hold on I’m gonna

Stop screen stop share for a second here we go this is if you see this the these are my notes and and this is how messy it is all right this is more like I’m trying to figure out who the good golfers are I’m not I’m not a

Fan I just like to watch who who who are who are the good golfers all right like this is something unique unique to golf nobody wins that offense okay uh guys that win Majors aren’t that good don’t win other tournaments all right do you realize all right so there’s two big

Tournaments US Open golf and Masters PJ doesn’t count PJ Champion doesn’t count and who cares about the one of Britain from my perspective you have a different one but do you realize there’s only three golfers in the 2000s like from 2000 to 2023 that’s 24 years there’s

Only three golfers that have won more than one US Open Okay Tiger Woods has won it three times Brooks kepka has won it twice and ratif gusen has run it one twice as well all right that means 17 basically of the 20 four years right 24 years that they played the US Open

There’s only been 20 there’s been 20 guys who’ won all right 20 guys that’s a lot so you look at a golf tournament chances are half the field could be a US Open winner right then you look at the Masters all right there’s only three guys in the in the Masters who who

Have won more than one Masters in the 2000 last 24 years all right Bubba Watson he’s not playing anymore Phil mickson he’s not playing both of all first of all they’re both on live just two live tour and of course tiger and he won it four times but he won it fifth

Time in the 90s right so again there’s like 20 guys guys 20 different guys that have won the Masters all right same thing with the British Open where uh you know I think only three guys uh you know tiger Ernie eles Padre Harring all right so I’m looking at all these

Stats I’m looking at all these stats trying to figure out like you know is Rory mroy good all right he’s won four majors but you know two of them were the PGA does that count so he only R he won only one of the good ones US Open but

He’s like Irish so he can do the British that counts for him does it count you see my point see my point it’s like like every guy’s good or every guy’s or it’s random or whatever you know but yeah Roy maro’s got I see he’s got 37 uh

Tournament wins you know 24 PGA tournament wins that’s good too but the guy who won you know Windam Clark wind Clark just won the US Open he he’s won two tournaments in his life and one of them was US Open okay um is that the guy

Is that the Michael is that the new Michael Jordan or is it John ROM like John ROM’s only went two majors too right but he’s won US Open and the mass it’s GNA become important I’m gonna show you I’m gonna show you because this

Is the key what do we do all right we We Gather the world’s athletes all right we gather them We Gather the best athletes and we have them play against each other all right we gather the best athletes and we have them play against each other and that’s what draws an audience all

Right so if you don’t have that you’re going to have a problem and that’s what Liv is attacking right now all right let me see here remember this where is this one Is it this one no that was a different one all right there all sports venue Talent television all right golf has got the venue because they got the golf courses especially the Masters which is the go on that’s next week Talent again you need if they don’t have all the talent

Which ones all right uh Liv has Rory and tiger or excuse me PGA has Rory and tiger and Liv has Brooks Kea Phil melson and Bubba wat and John ROM okay like all right Bubba’s getting old but you see my point and they have television like Liv’s television is terrible PJ’s

Television is phenomenal right competition audience monetization right these things do not change between sports right Stars the very stars stars stars right that that’s going to be an issue and it drives the drives the entire Revenue economics of the golf ecosphere and the tournament I will show

It to you in clear and convincing detail okay um all right so here is your structures and stability of golf They the four independent Majors all right this is why it’s stable those four are completely independent as a matter of fact when Liv golf came and took players

Away the PGA was trying to get gather up all the major and say Hey you know ban those live guys right because like 90% of Liv strategy is to tell the golfers they can still playing Majors right if you can still play the majors the big ones who gives a about the John

Deere Iowa Quad Cities uh p GA tour don’t care right you want to win the M you want to play the matches you’re going to pay me more money to work less days on the live golf tour and actually it’s a lot more money that’s a compelling economic argument was it the

Right thing to do for the sport that is a different question that each of the golfers have to ask themselves but it’s a lot of money okay it’s a lot of money which I keep coming back to again I get excited so I talk fast and that’s okay

But so what happened was was Master says uh we’re the Masters we’re going to do what’s in the best interest of the golf and tournament and that is to collect the world’s best golfers and have them play in Georgia so you guys just you go

Along you do you and we’ll do us all right uh the US Open was going to use the golf rankings the PGA Championship took the position of Masters like our our job is to bring the best golfers together wherever they are okay it doesn’t matter what league they plan

What country they plan whether they’ve played 10 years or just you know you can enter in the qualifier and go in the PGA championships I think uh didn’t John do that right John Daly was an alternate right Drove all night and slept in his car like got out and just you know won

The PGA Championship his life took off that’s how Sports work right that’s how you know that they are it’s not go it’s not it’s not UFC it’s not boxing right if the sport we don’t if the sports that are successful you know you have the

Best right so you have the DP World Tour and the agent tour as along with the PGA Tour the PGA Tour has their eight elevated events each one is $20 million as I said last time it’s Unique in that your regular old Tour event has more prize money than your majors golf does

That the three hosted ones you know what do they have the FedEx uh something like the Dell World Series they have the three playoffs which was new dumb idea okay like PGA got away from their mission and that’s how uh it helped to live to strike right they have their

Other tiers they actually have 36 total on the PGA tour with the eight elevated uh that you know the elevated ones all the players players are required to play but again they’re they’re all moving over to live they have the writer cup okay the writer Cup’s interesting

Because it’s co-owned all right by PGA America now PJ America is not the PGA Tour it’s a separate organization right they split up in 1968 only reason I know that it’s because I was born in 1968 so or I would have never remembered it so the PGA of America represents golf uh

Pros right teaching Pros in golf courses and the PGA Tour represents players so the PGA of America has their own tournament which they think is amazing major which maybe maybe it’s up to you you can decide all right so it’s separate and the other ones are owned by

The Euros who who gives a about that but you know three different groups on it there’s no prize money right it’s kind of unique but guys want to play you know hey Ken you know the Ryder Cup as team versus team in golf that should work well it’s not really all right so

Under the Umbrella of golf which is huge you have the majors the Masters the US Open the British Open uh they have the tour you have all this stuff all this money you know the giant industry you play this one specialty event okay I’ve said this before specialty events

Work Under the Umbrella of a real sport a sport that has structure and stability there’s the platform all right the platform now is scalable because you can do specialty events one of which is a team versus Team Europe versus you used to be Britain versus America but we were

Kicking their ass they made it Europe versus America now they’re kind of better you know now the look The World the USA versus the world one whatever the name is I don’t remember it doesn’t doesn’t work but the writer cup does and the players support it they want to do

It good for them all right again this is the distributor promoter Centric model like each of the individual golf tournaments are um are own you know are owned locally not owned but they’re run locally or with a local presence with the PGA helping out and the sponsor and it’s it’s an incredibly

Strong sponsorship Centric model so each of the uh PGA events has its own particular sponsor PGA do a phenomenal job uh getting sponsorships involved right it’s a player athlete Centric model uh because of the Players Association of course until LIF came around and now they introduced a single

Entity ownership structure into golf but the reason why the structure in stability of golf was so St they were the platform and everyone made a ton of money and it was fun uh is because of they had all these different models making it stable all right just like the

ABP Beach Vall had in in the 80s and 90s and uh there was good structure on the international to earlier as well again there’s a huge equipment clothing industry which supports at all sponsors guys sponsors tournaments right now uh we’ll get into it like what like every every athlete complains and every sport

Wants to be bigger football wants to even though like football just stopped right now at the 17 weeks and just that would be fine you know the guys are playing again this is gonna H this is gonna happen golf golf this golf was the canary and the coal mine all right you

Cannot keep pressing Sports to more Revenue more games larger you know what did what did Finn Taylor S on sandcast Finn Taylor remember your statement oh there’s 52 weeks in a year don’t worry we’ll have 52 tournaments no all right you cannot have a sport with 52 weeks

Okay it’s got to be defined like you know so all right I’ll give it to you I’ll give it to you now what I was going to say later so again Li came in and said instead of spending all week at a PGA event you spend three days maybe an

Extra day for poor but three days at a live event instead of playing 20 event you play 14 and you get paid more money sounds good to me you know what if a knew you know like um and uh uh all right so now you’re kind of seeing how

Liv and the Saudis were able to attack uh the structure because again now it’s unstable all right um is that all I want to say on that point I think so it’s getting getting big uh or getting long anyway we’ll go through a lot of this quickly because I’m sort of getting to

My end and hopefully you’re beginning to kind of get this broader picture of how what’s happening in the business of sport in the Sports World right what’s driving things you know more sponsors more events more more more more and more and then like of some you know enity

Comes in and just upsets the whole apple cart so the PGA Tour is 1.5 billion in revenue and 460 million in prize money although that is controversial all right because that Phil Mickelson says it is not 460 million and the PGA says it is and Phil mikkelson is more right than

The PGA PGA is right but he’s they’re less right then mikkelson what are you saying Kent I do not understand you yes I’ve heard that before okay the point is is that in a sense the PGA is paying too many guys okay they’re paying too many guys all right everybody wants to see

The stars everybody wants to see tiger and Phil and Rory mroy the stars but they don’t win all right remember when I showed you remember this remember the sheet of all these US Open PJ Champion Masters Championship the guys that people want to see don’t always win but

So they don’t get the money if it’s in a prize money format plus they pay like all right God I should go Google uh uh 2023 PGA prize budy list you know a guy who’s making a million dollars is you know a h hundredth go on the list so

He’s the 100th golfer he’s got zero top 10 finishes and zero top 25 finishes and they’re paying him a million dollars okay what Liv was able to do what Liv did is hey if we cut off everybody passed I don’t know 10 all right don’t

Pay them much and pay the top 10 guys a fortune will they come with us right the PGA made a bad mistake and how they handled it by rais BR but again that happened in the AP in the90s too the lower ranked players started squawking and wanting more because they always do

All right you can only take from the top to give to the bottom and if you take too much from the top a live golf is going to come in and Ste you know disrupt your ecosphere which is what happened with volleyball in the 90s somewhat there’s a bunch of crooks

Involved too but you know somebody came in to a top guy couple top guys and said hey you guys should own the whole thing right you guys should own the whole thing screw these lower ranked players you’ll make the money that’s the way it should be and it should all right lower

Rank players top guys should make all the money when I said that in the 90s everyone says oh you’re just greedy and it’s because you’re a top player well I’m not a top player I don’t play anymore I say the same thing I’ll say the same thing in 20 years you know 50

To 70% of the prize money in the AP should probably go to the top three or four teams and the rest and split it you got to build the pie oh that’s what I was going to say uh no matter how big golf is and it’s huge they all want it

To get bigger which is weird they all want it to get bigger so talked to Greg Norman he’s convinced that you can have a worldwide golf tour as big like the PGA is heavily USA dominated and as I mentioned last time that’s because only in the United States are they able to

Monetize golf all right we we are unique in the United States our economy the way we operate is unique in the fact that we and we alone could massively monetize a golf tournament all right a golf event no other country can Japan can’t South Korea can’t Europe has trouble even the

British Open right the U the open championships cannot monetize uh a golf event like the United States can but still you know they want to have more international events the players they want to get bigger you know all sports do well you know it’s funny it’s funny I

Don’t think basketball or football give a crap the players so like that’s good like we’re F maybe even less like the basketball and the football may be like yeah we we’ll we’ll we’ll uh we’ll play less games like we it doesn’t need to get any bigger like you’re right the NFL

Is going to Europe hey we got to have games in Europe we have to we have to you know expand our market around the world and get Europeans into football yay and the players like who cares whereas all all the minor the sports like Golf and Tennis you hear the

Athletes we have to get bigger even though Golf and Tennis are huge right and volleyball players of course want their sport to get bigger which it won’t all right there’s a ceiling beach volleyball players of the world on how big your sports going to be because of complexity narrative and communication

And a whole host of other things the no rule change can change uh the game all right you hit a ball back and forth all right it’s a advanced form of hot potato all right it is an advanced form of hot potato and there’s not much you can do

To it all right which is fine all right it didn’t bother me all right yeah all right so triborn I’m back to you triborn you had the meeting you had the meeting with the new new guy right the alen capital guy or whoever his minion was

Who came to you to give you a bunch of persuasion language to convince you that they’re go you know so that three years from now you could tell me I didn’t like those guys I said no try you said you did like them three years from now

You’re gonna say you’re not going to like them because it’s not going to work they’re not going to work we had those too we had the big player meetings you know the head of NBC or not executive from NBC television so an executive from NBC television comes into

This room with all the players we had these massive player parties and they were really fun because got a bunch of bunch of young guyses and they’re all just testosterone driven we’re all talking crap super fun and they would we would we would we would bark out what

Should happen with the tour so the super executive from NBC a swinging D if there ever was one this guy is a swinging D he’s still at NBC Sports and he’s even bigger than when he was when he had to address US pukes so he comes in and says

I’ll never forget this I am going to take you guys off the back page of the sports page and put you on the front and and I thought not only did everybody cream in their pants but they all fell over like literally guys were like weeping oh our whole lives you know

We’ve been first of all I used to think we weren’t even sport first of all Beach like it’s it’s a girl sport did you know that like volleyball’s a girl sport like I played it it’s a girl sport didn’t bother me and that was my point like so

We’d be we’d be on an airplane so we’d be on an airplane going somewhere and a bunch of tall like basically white dudes right and we’re buff and athletic we get these looks like not a basketball team like who are like like like unless of course we were

BYU or something right Delany M that was possible so they look like you guys baseball guys because again baseball’s got different size guys we’re all tall like no we’re we’re volleyball players beach volleyball players if you were in the South the guy would go isn’t that a

Girl sport yes it is but I liked it I liked it I like beach Ro I like the beach and I played and it was never bigger than when I played I will always constantly remind all of you because I know what to do I was there and at the

Meetings I was in the room where it happened is Alexander Hamilton said in the room and I saw what happened but anyway in this room uh he told us that my he told us that he was going to take us off the back page onto the front and

My first thought was that is not going to happen all right it will never happen besides the fact that we are perfectly fine as we are it’s ever it’s never been as big as it was and the fibb it’s never been as big as it was in the 2000s and

The early 2010s it’s not going to get bigger than that ever right you have to accept that I was and it’s a girl sport I guess don’t care I don’t care like no we’ve talked about that enough I guess but oh and by the way there’s no newspapers so the guy was wrong

Anyway right can’t be on the front page of the newspaper because there are no newspapers or nobody reads newspapers and if there were newspapers around Los Angeles sh Otani would be on the front page of the of the sports page uh and the other guy who they just signed the

The pitcher and uh not beach volleyball all right beach volleyball would not be on the front page of any sports sections and it never will all right although we did get great press we got great press we were in Sports Illustrated People magazine Cosmopolitan we were on Tonight

Show we were on Good Morning America we got plenty of press didn’t need to be in the sports page do all right anyway right back to all right we’re back to the slides right so God the uh the the PGA Tour has an enormous number of corporate sponsors

You just don’t see that in other sports okay um oh ready all right we’re on the track we are on the highway we are driving down the same Highway we are not going all over the place it’s all the same US soccer fires back after open Cub

Snub rejecting MLS plan right so there’s a stupid cup that we play for in America for soccer which nobody gives a about because it’s soccer okay nobody cares about soccer United States it’s not it’s uh they have a chance to make it work it’s not a single entity

Ownership model it’s it’s a hybrid which is unique it’s all right maybe I’ll do some on so soccer it’s a hybrid model with the MLS so there’s a the the central there’s a central single entity ownership business in the middle but each of the teams are kind of

Independently that’s not the point the point is there’s been this cup that’s been played that nobody gives a about which now is kind of kind of valuable because Messi’s in town Messi’s in in Miami now people might follow this this this soccer championship tournament which is outside of the business of MLS

So MLS of course is like you know I just paid 550 million for the for the franchise in San Diego hell I’m giving away this valuable property to USS soccer or the United States soccer Federation ussf like ussf runs it okay ussf runs it and now they’re like God

You know actually people care about soccer slightly and Messi’s huge we could have an actual valuable property we’ll go to a television audience television company and a sponsor will say dude we got messy like like give us some money and they will so is like screw that we want the money that like

This article’s in the Washington Post which of course everything in the Washington Post is but the key is money like you can have the US you can have the open cup as long as it’s owned by MLS the fact that it’s owned by US soccer is the problem right

That’s the problem all right the fact that it’s owned by US soccer and not controlled and own by MLB or MLS is the problem anyway I don’t know why that’s on this thing all right we’re driving down the same road right so the PGA is unique in the fact that they have an

Enormous list of of sponsors right PGA Tour M contains sponsor roster of 52 Brands my God you don’t see that in sports every brand that is basically high margin and has a sale a certain type of sales uh component to it is involved in golf I’m going to talk about

That when we get to the uh uh the cental maybe or one of one of the golf opens we’re going to look deeply into it is because um it’s they all want to be involved just like it was the AP light to a Miller Light that was it and when

Quo came they were pissed even though they did three even though it’s a good thing and there were some small sponsors but Miller wanted the whole deal like they weren’t going to share it with other sponsors and oh my God the PGA it’s a dream of a company of a business

The way it worked and they effed it up right so this is hold on this is their uh this is their schedule right so the PGA of course has their schedule the Sentry the Sony Open and Hawaii American Express these are the first three Sentry Insurance Sony the consumer package good

Or the you know company that does you know uh video game developers TVs that all but American Express of course financial services and credit cards all right uh this is their schedule Farmers all right AT&T P but my point is my point is all right these are all uh

Title sponsors right the it’s the Century Insurance opener the centry Invitational all right it’s a Sony like it’s not the presenting of the sub sponsors these are the ones whose name is on the tournament they kind of own it in a sense or at least control a lot of

It and again I’ll talk about American Express farmer all right to the right are the revenues of these companies okay this is how much so Sentry insurance does 7.5 billion in Revenue all right they pay probably 10 15 million doar to sponsor a PGA event that’s a lot of

Money for PGA it’s nothing for Century Sony is an88 billion doll company American Express right AT&T is $122 billion company right they do the Pebble Beach proam all right the Genesis right the one who does the LA open the Genesis open Genesis is a subsidiary of Hyundai

And Hyundai does $ 105 billion dollars with the cars are South Korean company they also do the Genesis Scottish open why are they doing this sell cars sort of yes cognizant an it right look at these companies so this is the Players Championship all right uh which is the

Pga’s one so it’s not the major Optimum which is United Health Care $182 billion company this is peanuts the spend in sport for some of these companies that they have is peanuts it’s it’s amazing the the affiliation that large corporations want to have with the sport Morgan Stanley of course why Comcast is

$121 billion doll company right they’re the cable company uh the Arnold Palmer MasterCard in Arnold Palmer invitation master vbar all right vbar is the paint company which is owned by Sherwin Williams right 222 billion company the Texas Children Houston’s open has got a boatload of sponsors it used to be the

Shell open of Houston right and now sh I don’t think shell does but but Chevron and all the companies of Houston they have probably 20 major corporations that support that because it supports the Texas Children’s Hospital a big component of golf events is their charitable affiliation right their

Charitable affiliation with golf I uh showed you that I know I did okay when on our ball right this is this is a this is this is a beach FW tour it’s it’s a golf tournament you have PGA up here to the right you have uh you know whoever

Sponsored Chevron sponsoring the Houston Texas hospital Houston open or the MasterCard Arnold Palmer down here you have the local charity right that’s big in golf they spend they send millions of dollars to local charities gets the local uh communities on board and of course the players all appear in the

Events again this stuff is uh all the same Valero 1676 billion that’s the biggest one so far they are an oil refiner so they make gas and Diesel and other things this is the Masters the master is the king I’m going to talk about that next week all right AT&T IBM

Mercedesbenz Rolex and Cisco big giant corporations uh they make about 200 million in Revenue but they could make 400 million they leave 200 million do in revenue on the floor they make 200 million in revenue and they only pay the golfers 188 million that is the problem

That is why Liv came in Liv came in because the Augusta National but the Masters brings in $200 million and only pays the athletes 18 and they could make 400 million if they if they like juice their their sponsorships like the US Open does but they don’t because of the

Look and feel again I’ll talk about that next week RBC that’s Royal Bank of Canada okay you got well zurich’s Insurance Wells Fargo all right PGA championships uh that’s the other major they actually have uh this is uh the PGA it’s going to be at Valhalla this year

This is their commercial family all right Cadillac Corbridge National Ren rollx Charles Schwab Sapphire that’s Chase okay the chase company don’t know what club car is uh kitchen eight big that’s big KPMG is of course the consulting firm Pepsi doesn’t get to be a good than that Michelob Ultra which is

Uh anheiser Bush which is inbev all right inbev so again just because Michelob is there doesn’t mean the entire anheiser Bush family is not coming down or inbev which is uh you know what’s like amstell light and stuff like that it’s an international company okay again just you don’t see this in

Other sports like this this all right this is if the Masters was like the US Open they’d make more money the Masters makes 160 million Revenue 160 million Revenue they pay actually they don’t pay 18 million they pay like 15 million don’t they I think they pay 15 million I

Got check that it’s not 18 it might be might be 175 I think I’ll look that up um well let’s do that in real time us Open golf because it’s important all right the reason I’m looking it up is because it’s important because it’s actually has a

Big oh it’s 20 million okay I was even I was under all right they had to raise that by the way go look at the history of it it’s not it’s been I think the Masters was 12 or something like that or 14 just a few years ago right so they

Only pay again 16 million would be 10% of Revenue so it’s 12.5% of Revenue right NBA gets 50% all right NFL gets 50% the players or the athletes the athletes get 50% of the revenue they don’t they get they get again that was the fight between Mickelson and mon

Monahan uh at the PGA was he said it was 50% of Revenue go to the golfers and Mo and uh mikkelson’s numbers were 25% but this is why live golf is coming live golf is we can make if we can make 200 million on a golf tournament and

Only have to pay the athletes 20 million we’ll get rich hey you know what sign me up hey Saudis call me call Kent I could do Sports I’ll help you out with live we’ll make a lot of money together uh we will do great look at all those sponsors

All right that’s a lot of sponsors Grey Goose hinin uh hotels roll roxes everywhere they’re great all right Travelers Insurance rocket mortgage John Deere selling tractors we talked about last time Genesis Barracuda networks they’re the cheapies this company only has 352 million in Revenue okay the Genesis

Right that 105 billion Travelers is 37 billion rocket Mor mortgage is 16 billion that’s a lot John Deere 53 billion doll in Revenue very they’re the cheapos all right so moving on this is the Open Championship right the British Open these are their sponsors uh they just they just just when I talk

About the big store right an event an event is like a big it’s the big store all right you want an event you want to be able to sell it sell into this event space all right remember when I talking about scalability uh a golf event is incredibly scalable okay structure

Stability platform and it’s scalable they can have a 100 sponsors because the golf course is huge it’s just a just a tent and we’ll look at some examples of okay it’s it’s it’s called this big store so you’re selling the big store and you know it’s just anybody can come

In that wants to come in and of course if you’re Beach volleball you were running the Big Score con right you’re convincing people to put money in because it’s a big store con looks bigger than this all right so the Sentry in Maui all right we’ll this we’ll start

To look individually at a very specific tournament um perhaps I should break these up into like this is a Class Sports Marketing 101 uh Class A Class B all right hold on here just come back to this point come back to this point when

You have H soda or some food and I do have to get to work and I need coffee sensory insurance is in Wisconsin and it is a incredibly crappy part of Wisconsin and Wisconsin doesn’t have many good parts but Madison’s okay and Green Bay he’s got the football team and I’m not P

It’s just cold and there’s nothing so why on Earth would the Sentry insurance company have a golf tournament in Maui right why does the Sentry insurance company have a golf tournament in Maui well it’s a business it sells business insurance okay and specifically it sells Golf Course Insurance all right

So it sells Golf Course golf courses insurance as well as businesses right it’s a sales organization that has bro independent Brokers and dealers right so what is going on 45 4500 employees well to you as a fan you’re watching a golf tournament to a player they are playing

In a golf tournament the Sentry in uh in in Maui okay but the Sentry it is three things okay they bring uh clients to wine and dine them so they can get their business and you cannot do that in BFE Wisconsin okay trust me Google Sentry Insurance headquarters it’s it’s nowhere okay you

Cannot bring people in and party and even if you’re with Brett Favre back in the uh you know 90s you know I got the book actually it’s over there he ran Green Bay like you wouldn’t believe you’re not bringing clients you’re taking them to Maui right you’re taking

Them and their wife to Maui and then you’re G to sell them Insurance okay it’s a sales organization right so you have Brokers and Deals you know what you can do this is actually I I’ll give you the I’ll give you the case study of this because I learned about it earlier but

You run a contest in your corporation and you say whichever broker or dealer sells the most Sentry insurance insurance we will pay you and a spouse all expenses paid to Hawaii for the week you get to go to Hawaii you know make love to your wife again for the first

Time and whatever because you’re a sales guy and you’re always stressed and out working all the time so you get to go take your wife to Hawaii she gets a nice I guess it’s the other way around too now right women too they can sell insurance they’re really good actually

Selling Insurance they’re really good selling everything uh so yeah so they bring their spouses and the same thing and you get to watch a golf ter you get to rub shoulders with Tiger and Rory yay right you get to shoulders with hey and even it’s not tiger Rory it’s some other

Random dude and the guy probably won a Masters or he w a US Open remember I told you where’s my sheet remember the sheet I told you about remember this there’s so many guys that won a major you can always hook hook up there’s always Majors guys that won in a

Tournament that’s the point that’s what’s interesting about golf that’s what makes the game of golf or The Business of golf so interesting and so unique and so fun to study all right here here’s the case study it goes it’s Lily Hammer 1994 okay the Olympics the Winter Olympics in Lily Hammer 1994

These numbers are 100% accurate and they’re old right so just pump the numbers up so back in 1994 Lily Hammer uh Winter Olympics John uh Hancock all right the financial services firm just like centry Insurance all right independent Brokers deal it does Insurance it does Investments like

Mutual funds and stuff John Hancock so Olympics came and says hey you want to sponsor the Olympics they’re like sure how much 50 million like good what do we get for 50 million it’s $50 million sponsorship Olympics goes you get to use the rings on all your advertising right

Oh you put the Olympic rings and it’s trademark like I don’t care whatever we’ll do it fine yeah Olympics Olympic rings well you’re GNA have commercials on the olyp a billion people uh watch uh the Olympics every year we’ll have John Hancock commercials right really cool

Really like that top of the this top of the funnel marketing don’t give a okay $50 million spending like okay fine what what else you got for US Olympic Committee they’re like well we’ll give you we give you 50 uh VIP packages all right we’ll take two people 50 times two

Uh uh air Fair first class we’ll put you in the best hotel in Lily hammer and we’ll have a VIP function so parties okay uh with with they’ll be athletes there so you interact with them and Cocktails and wine we have celebrity chefs come in and cook you food and

You’ll have tickets to any event you want the best tickets we have special VIP section you can do skiing you can do uh hockey you could do uh well your wife is gonna want uh your wife is gonna want the ice skating uh and the dude is going

To want I don’t know what like if you’re if you I’m tell you the husband’s going to want something else but you get you get VI they’re like that’s it sign the paperwork what do they do those 50 VIP packages right they turn around into their organization and they said we’re

Gonna have a sales contest and whoever sells the most John Hancock stuff wins a trip for two all expenses paid VIP package parties fun you know Luxury Limos taking around tickets to any event you want all right they generate 200 million in excess Revenue 200 million in excess revenue on a $50 million

Sponsorship package they were not interested in the sports or the Olympics or any of it this is the same way with golf okay this is how golf works this is the business of golf and the Saudis and the Saudi public investment fund and live golf understands this to the tea

And is driving a wedge in this affiliation all right the PGA is going to have a problem all right so the centry PGA tournament okay there’s other sponsors of the event and theity impact all right they they give $700,000 to Maui charities in 2023 right uh $700,000

That’s a big part of of the entire action of what is going on all right so here is their here is their web page which is good all right and this is uh right right there Community impact top even before Champions and then you have sponsors all right all right um you know

Like the reason why the Maui allows Sentry and the PGA and and the things to use their Community is because they give money back all right this is something that the AP has a problem with is because with Hermosa okay what is the benefit you’re giving to the local

Community these are all good job Sentry it’s a win-win win around right back to our slides let’s get through this all right the Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mard okay we’re gonna switch this discussion on Sports we’re going to talk about basically how to attract a crowd okay I told you before

That uh uh I told Tri borne to ask the new people what his uh what their micro influencer strategy is and I guarantee you don’t have it because we’re going to take a look at the Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by MasterCard all right the average PGA Tour event attendance is $120,000 to 160,000

Spectators a week or the four days right even more uh the average price about 80 bucks a ticket right Liv Liv’s best was adelite and that was 77,000 and that was only 33 bucks Tulsa was two and that was 50 bucks so Liv is not getting the audience or the attendance and they’re

Not they they can’t get a premium on the price right and in still like average two million television audience and live averages lives lives lives televion is a is awful and they had the Heidi moment you guys remember the Heidi game 1968 again because I was born that’s why I

Remember they 1968 Raiders Jets right uh it was a really good game it was broadcast nationally and back then there weren’t that many bro National broadcasts and it about it was going late the last second Drive was super close and it went over time and all the

Networks cut to go to the movie Heidi they all the football fans like ah they started screaming calling in and it’s called the Heidi game so uh live golf had that they’re going to a playoff holes on one of their tournaments and all the CW uh people they’re

Independently owned bail to go with their local programming all right so attracting an audience this is key so first of all the key to these are the keys to Fan attendance so if you want people to attend your event if you want them to attend your sport you want to a golf

Event a tennis event or a beach volleyball tournament all right you have to understand that uh tenant is not driven by the sport okay the sport is the excuse this is all right after you know Gap sound we know what Gap sound is that c that that’s what kept calling

Kaepernick from the NFL no matter what you heard but the second thing I want you to know is uh gol uh the the the the sport is the excuse all right in these event typee Sports all right the sport the athletes they are the excuse that drives the audience and if you don’t

Understand this you will never uh get an audience to come which is why oh dear God should I do this should I do this which is why where are we here okay uh verosa ABC um if you want to know why we used where where are we here all right why we used

Used to have crowds like this okay and now the AP has crowds like this okay that now you know why all right we know how to drive audience all right so the first thing that drives audience and this is technical this comes from uh this comes

From a study that was done uh you know people are researching the stuff and figuring out proximity and income level so the closer you are to uh a lot of rich people helps to drive audience because people got you know it’s 100 bucks 80 bucks and it’s luxury boxes too

They cost money so being in a rich area uh with high income levels helps location obviously so if you’re in a major you know the Genesis opens great because it’s in Los Angeles you know but it doesn’t hurt the the the Masters because it’s such an iconic tournament

Which is prestige of event so the higher The Prestige of the event US Open Masters uh uh you know the Manhattan Beach open for Beach volleball the more a Prestige event is more people are going to come duh right right then Stars the more stars there are the more people

Will come all right duh especially stars like Tiger Woods so if Tiger Woods is your ter you’re gonna have a bigger bigger crowd coming than if he’s not and again now we’re back to live all right quality of the field stars Prestige Stars quality of the event what live is

Attacking are those three things and that is gonna that is going to hurt the PGA Tours audience right because they F they’ve taken some of the Stars maybe the number one star Ram right John might be the number one guy right now you know again two two years from now there could

Be seven other guys who have won Majors so he’ll be out Stars they’ve split the the player by so all the players are not all the best golfers are not coming to a golf tournament anymore right some of them live somewhere on PGA the quality

Of the field is in both entities is is decreased from what it used to be in the past in the past you knew that every at least the elevator ones the good events every uh golf tournament would have whichever golfers were available that week now you’re assured that you are not

So Liv golfers will not be right Brooks Kea and Rah right who are the other ones Phil Mickelson Bubba Watson those are the guys with the most ma m major they will not be at PGA Tour events in auror mooy tigerwoods and say Justin Thomas uh

Who’s one two PGA Chambers you know will not be at the live golf all right that will lower your audience all right and this is the key now this is huge right this is huge in terms of this and I know this is going long but

Uh go you know what this is this is only for a few people out there if you really want to get into sports and Sports Marketing and you’re interest stff I get it if if not you go listen to Barcelo Sports they’re doing all the fart jokes

And all the things that Everyone likes um but that is not me maybe I will be maybe I’ll maybe I’ll go there because again 8 o’clock all right it’s 8 am still got a little bit time all right this is crucial so of your audience 50% of them were invited by the event

Sponsor or guest in hospital box okay they were not going to come remember I told you I do not buy tickets to go to sporting events they are given to me I do not buy tickets to go to golf events the one time I’ll show you where I I was

In and the second time was by someone else okay so 50% of the people who come to your event we’re not planning on coming and we’re not going to come if somebody didn’t give them a ticket okay remember that sponsors right why do the sponsors uh

Want to sponsor an event so they can give tickets to people right they can give tickets to people so they can sell make do business with them same with the hospitality box you buy a Hospitality box usually you’re a corporate entity or maybe you’re an individual maybe you’re

Like a real estate guy you’re a real estate guy who wants to bring a bunch of people he might sell real estate to all right so they give away tickets all right that’s what is coming in again once you get there if you if you control

The if you can control the venue you can sell them food and drink and merchandise all right again this is how it goes 10% right 10% actually purchase tickets to say you’re every day uh of course not the master right or sometimes US Open but your average everyday event

Especially like a beach volleyball event or a wrestling event all you got wrestling people who contact me or anything else okay only 10% of your audience is going to is going to buy a ticket to go watch that is why the crowds on the AP are smaller now than

They were when we played we knew that we knew that the event was the excuse the event was the excuse to come to the beach the event was the excuse to come to sa Manhattan Beach which is a nice town on a vacation or to the ocean or

Grand Haven or belmare Beach or Florida or Fort Lauderdale or Chicago beaches it was a fun place to be the tournament was the excuse you go to the party afterwards you bring your friends all right who weren’t going to go but your right Ted Ted gladson you out there

Lobster Leo Ted glat and lobster Leo they’d organize a group of guys in Chicago and theyd get a bus or a van and they’ bring all these people they’re hey come to the beach volleyball tournament it’s great then we’ll go out with car and Kent you know to the steak dinner it

Was really cool actually thanks Ted by the way haven’t I haven’t said thank you enough back then he had a boat too so he Cruis on his boat at Lake Michigan gu was that guy was a stud all right so 20% are given away okay 20% are given away

All right so when I went to when I go to the Genesis open I get the giveaway tickets okay so the guys who put it on give me tickets all right uh uh and when I went to US Open it was a ticket that somebody had bought who wasn’t gonna go

Gave it to me again the the point is the point is is that the event is a series of micro events driven by local influencers okay if you want people to come to your event like a beach event a golf event any type of event it is a series of smaller micro

Events within the master event okay and those individual micro events are driven by a local influencer and you have to be cognizant and aware of what that person or that influencer wants what are you right so for the sponsor they want to do business for the hospitality box it

Could be networking relationship for an individual person could be friendship or Bress right you have to you are not all right so like it’s more like a private party for a small group of people uh which is golf does it amazing they have all these tents and all these structures

All around with all these individual micro events are happening all the time and we’re going to look at the Arnold Palmer invitation I’m going to show it to you perfectly visually right uh there you are not selling tickets to golf fans you are but relying on others to drive

Attendance right you are not selling tickets to your audience you’re only selling tickets to 10% of your audience the other group The other people are driving the 90% of your audience remember when I told you 90% of the people only come once and 10% comes and

If you listen to the 10% of your audience if you listen to the people who purchase tickets and what they want oh we want more this we want more that you will fail you will absolutely fail because you have to satisfy the 90% that is coming for alternate reasons it

Doesn’t get any clearer than this okay all right so that now we come why they come when you when they ask people who come to a golf tour or come to event why they come well they say everything right hey everything we like everything about

It well we say can you be more specific okay we’re going to drive down into this and we’re going to tell you the it the golf and the beach is the excuse the athletes you guys think you ready you collect an audience then you monetize it if you athletes think you’re the sole

Reason why uh the audience is being collected you are wrong and you will go wrong when you ask for the things you want to ask for which is usually too much and that’s fine um Hospitality okay 27% of your audience comes because of the amenities right not the golf or the

Beach volleyball they like the amenities so AVP has the worst stands you sit in those hot stands like going to Atlanta the amenities sucked and so you have no audience same thing with the stands and you can’t go to the bathroom or else you lose your seat duh okay you know golf is

Phenomenal like the uh the member tent at the US Open was great had a great time uh where was I in Genesis I was in the VIP up in the up at the clubhouse uh plus we got into uh the Garrison Brothers Garrison Brothers thank you

Very much the whiskey company they are a sponsor uh they hosted uh Tracy and I so we hung out there we I actually didn’t even watch golf usually what we do is we walk the course which so we get a little hike in then we go to the VIP tent drink

Whiskey which is what we did it was great all right like the sport 18% like sport okay that’s why they come they came because they like golf or they like but again that’s only 18% so 82% that’s not their number one number one 80 for 82% it’s not number one and

For 90% or for 70 70% uh somebody else brings them there okay or 80% like like so somebody’s got to drive them there and not they don’t have to like the sport for you to have a big audience social aspects is 10% the athletes is 10%

Network all right so it doesn’t add to 100 because there are subgroups but the bottom line is the point is right the point is is less than 30% of the attendees at a Tour event come because they specifically like the sport or wish to see the athletes all right only 30%

Of your audience that comes to an event actually wants to watch the golf and see the athletes or watch the beach volleyball and see the athletes all right the other 70 % come for other reasons and that is why you see some events are popular and other events fail

That’s why usfl and XFL are failing all right it’s not about the football all right it’s not about you know it is in the NFL because there’s so many people want to go to NFL games but you know if XFL and usfl had a strategy which took

This into account and realized that you know the the crowd they have 70% of them aren’t there for the football or to watch the Players right they’re going to be there for something else and uh 80% of them or 90% of them are going to come because someone else gets them to come

You would see different Danny Garcia and The Rock Johnson do not understand Sports Marketing you could tell when they talk and Liv has got some problem Liv has got a little bit of a problem too okay Liv thinks it’s about the part uh there you know golf only louder you

Know I don’t think it’s gonna work because golf is golf is like an elevated event right you want to make it a nightclub all right you’re going to get kind of nightclub type people you want to make it elevated where it’s like a social event it’s a thing to do in the

Say it’s the Genesis open all right for a tour for a Tour event to be successful you have to create an environment that attracts attendees that are not necessarily there to watch a sport that’s why I said or these specific athletes perform all right you need to engage the majority in experiences and

Activities all right that are not sport or athlete related like I said the Garrison Brothers tent all right sample whiskey we W again the SE I watched the golf tournament on TV I was literally I could I could I could chip a golf ball like not even chip I could putt a golf

Ball on the 18th Green from where I was sitting watching them all on telion okay and I was not alone not by a long shot right in other words the event is the excuse okay Gap right Gap sound now the event is the excuse all right Arnold Palmer Invitational events are

Incredibly complicated to produce let us take a look at Mr Palmer’s course so here is his website it is as you see shop impact all right so merchandise up in the top right an impact impact what you know this is the charitable action that I gave you that bottom of that ball

Okay making a difference a living Legacy who gives all right uh arie’s Army all right our history of giving okay and special than to our partners they’re all involved too the corporations love this they get to they get to tell everybody how wonderful they are when they’re you know they’re just blood sucking

Corporations that want to take your money all right by the way uh back to the centry insurance that’s why uh that’s why Morgan Stanley and Charles Schwab and uh American Express like a financial services company sponsor they want to invest your money so they don’t care about the fans they care about

Bringing potential customers like high net worth individuals put it in a VIP tent and a Hospitality B thing and getting their business the tournament info like this is funny there’s one thing on the tournament spectator info and then volunteers like special events look at the special events in the

Hospitality all right so all right this is the fact sheet The Spectator info all right look at this MasterCard Palmer perks all right Palmer perks exclusive ticket pricing Master Club card you got a Palmer patio right again MasterCard if you have a MasterCard again they’re driving audience hey I got a

MasterCard you want to go we got a special thing they’re they’re creating opportunities to uh have fan go to Fan Experience merch savings on merchandising okay um respect to visitor of course like the communities involved visit Orlando right the the tourism board they love the event spotlights

Orlando and this is where Dario Dario de Benedetti you going to play golf this weekend my buddy Dario’s out there around around uh around Orlando all he does is play golf all he does is play golf and and cook Italian food right Dario all right these are the special

Events okay again uh it is a it is a they’re micro events driven by influence within the master event so you have the white claw fan deck okay sponsored by obviously White claw it’s a deck where people can go for I don’t know I guess you buy a ticket for it right there’s

Event details all right you guys can go to this and look at it but I’m just trying to show you Throwback Thursdays here’s wine and dine all right wine on dine all right presented by Kendall Jackson so they have a sponsor and these the Pres a bunch of restaurants they got

Four 8 12 16 18 restaurants in the local area are coming to their event to generate more interest in the event itself okay and in their Resturant so that they are marketing so they provide food the tournament the golf tour provides an audience and the audience benefits right everybody’s working

Together these are incredibly when I when I say events are incredibly complicated go the AP Beach Vol players of beach volleyball is doing two things wrong they are overestimating the size of the market and they’re underestimating how complicated these things that to run these things are incredibly complicated to run you can do

One tournament takes a whole staff all year long you can’t just throw them up on the fly if you want to do it correctly as you can see right these are the that’s a special Patriots Outpost okay again here’s a perfect example of how they’re trying to attract a certain

Audience for by a benefit right so all guests with the military tickets are they get a special deal right so if you’re active reserve versus your veterans you can sign up and once they sell an allotment of tickets it’s gone but you have special places you can go

Uh in in this event for specifically um you know retired military and Veterans and they love that stuff let’s go to the let’s go to the uh thing we’ll have us awesome Patriots Outpost where we can have meet our fellow uh Armed Forces remember back to football Hospitality okay this is where

The rubber meets the road right so again you’re you’re again you’re you’re segmenting office driving them premium experiences all right you got the N1 Orange G club8 I don’t even know what these are or lead so you got a private jet to take you there and right right

Here on right you got you got the whole you got the VIP got a Lou look at on the golf course you got this nice Lounge um I guess you get a boat how weird so here’s a round right each of these things are separate specialty operations you can

Have let’s see Hospitality Sky boxes and Cabanas okay look at that you can buy one of these like a like a luxury box and they’re all over the course remember I have my uh here’s my where’s my uh web they have 600,000 people at there’s a Waste Management Phoenix 600,000

People show up they have 20,000 over here at the coliseum in the top right I mean look at all these people look at all this infrastructure look at all these tents and stuff this is the fed the bottom left is the FedEx VIP area it’s just a whole lot going on all right

Sky boxes you got all so got what are the prices for these you can get they’re like they’re like 10 $20,000 for the weekend to get these things then of course last but not least then we’ll move on with our presentation you have the proam tournaments okay again remember this

Remember the all these golfers all these golfers four majors like there’s like 80 guys who you could sit there and teir up in a proam event you’re like hey were the guy won the PGA Championship in 2007 right I don’t know who that would be you’re like yeah for sure I’m awesome of

Course you know get if you get tiger and Roy they’re probally reserved for you know the the customers of a Mastercard or something like that okay but here it is it costs you $122,000 for a single player all right $12,000 36,3 what happens to the proam fees when all the

Best golfers aren’t there and you can’t get one that is any good to play in the proam right that is the problem that Liv golf uh is presenting to uh PGA Tour in the entire ecosystem all right it’s on Wednesday all right again uh remember we talked about the expanded

Requirements of the athletes so you don’t have to just play four days you also have to play in the proam Wednesday because it’s driving the E economics of the tournament all right and then you have to come Tuesday because we have something there and Monday because we have something there and afterwards

You’re you have to go somewhere as well they can get to be overwhelming and athletes are are beginning to reject it and turn the other direction and the golfers are the canaries and the coal mine again you you might think they should do differently but you are free

To uh get some clubs and go shoot Golf and show them what they should do okay back to our presentation all right now Liv golf comes in all right Liv single entity ownership model Saudi Arabia all right ramco Saud ramco is an oil company remember those numbers 535

Billion a year right they could swallow swow probably all the other companies all right they could swallow all the other companies the Saudi public investment fund so the revenues that they make or the E they make from the from the Saudi AR from the oil all right

Saudi Arabia is Major mostly an oil company is $650 billion dollar you might ask why is Saudi Arabia getting into the golf business all right well U I assume it’s economic other people have other reasons we can talk about it all right sportswashing I I don’t believe that’s

True I don’t believe it’s true because I don’t think the Saudis give a but you I think about him but uh there was a you know Mohamad Muhammad bin Salman right the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia put together a committee and said that we need to get uh Saudi Arabia off of oil

Revenue we need to you know expand and broaden their economy because when the oil revenues end because you know we’re going to go green they’re out of luck in Saudi Arabia if they don’t have other Industries and other businesses for their people to work at and one of

The places they identified was sport so in this it’s called Vision 2030 or something maybe 24 it’s Vision something and uh Saudi Arabia by this time is is is to have a rather robust Sports uh industry in it that’s why they’re buying up soccer players that’s why they’re you

Know investing in teams that’s why they’re um getting involv in golf tournaments and owning a golf golf tour right that’s why it’s in their it’s in their business plan for their country and they’re not doing it right across the board I mean they’re only get like 300 people to soccer matches so again

You can you can buy Ronaldo or whoever you want you can buy uh you can bring anybody you want but if nobody’s interested in uh this athlete no matter how good they are it’s again how you monetize an athlete the athlete is supposed to draw the crowd you draw the

Crowd and you monetize it right just just having a bunch of guys you know volleyball and sand does not make a volleyball tournament have a bunch of go golfers with golf clubs and golf balls on a golf course does not make a golf event is live is showing because some of

Their events are disasters so here’s the thing their prize money they got 20 milon prize money and 5 million for that team event again the team event the team concept is dumb and they all love it they all they absolutely love it which is weird because it’s not going to work and

There’s the reason why I’m not going to get into it it’s too technical but they have a then their team championship Miami is 50 milon they have a $375 million nut that they have to uh have to pay for on a yearly basis live and they have no other sponsors right that’s the

Big question with Liv is is anybody else going to take on the burden of funding these these events that they have there’s the 14 events in the various cities you see at the bottom right as MasterCard going to set up step up IBM AT&T are they going to step into the

Roles the same roles on the live tour as they do on the PGA and that is the big question that everybody’s wondering and uh it’s going to depend on whether Liv can attract uh an audience or attract the players and I I don’t know it’s the

Answer is gonna be no all right not under not under their current format because you live is not going with the traditional you know button- down you know elevated go golf experience they’re going with the live golf Bel louder they want to they want to they want to they

Want to attract the young people and that’s not who sponsors golf all right like your Sony might because they can sell them PlayStations or whatever but that’s a different sponsor group category okay you know uh you’re not going to get Hyundai Hyundai the Genesis open same thing car company they have

Their dealer Network so they can run promotions and and sales uh contests within within Genesis within Hyundai the winner gets uh an a VIP experience at a golf tournament the they on plus coo gets to hand the golf trophy to Tiger it’s a great picture of him always every

Year that’s worth 15 million right CEO or chairman of Hyundai okay so that’s the big question is whether that’s gonna happen let’s take a look at live golf the first thing you will notice and live golf all right here you go this is the best one 77,000 people attended the

Adelay that was by far their best one so this is Liv golf’s website the first thing you notice is they have reverse lettering which means nobody read ogy Ogie of ogave Ms was the very famous uh advertising executive he said never put white letters on a back back on a black

Background do not put white letters on a black background I read his book when I was young he said it’s always a mistake every time you see it here you have it all right live golf you’re violating the rule of art by doing this but anyway all

Right uh it’s not bad website actually it’s it’s but it’s also see this is not this is not an elevated experience right this is not Rolex all right not at all this is this is not uh JP Morgan this is not Morgan Stanley all right this is this is something different and that’s

Fine they think they could pull it off they will not all right uh this is their Adelaide all right this is their Hospitality experiences as you can see again they’re they’re they’re they’re selling the rock since they’re selling basically Phoenix Open they’re selling the Coliseum and Phoenix Open if you

Know that one all right golf but louder all right you got the blow up guy you got it looks like a DJ on on the right side I interactions so better at closer interactions it’s friendlier so it’s not as stuffy as what they’re saying is that

Going to work it will not all right it will not they will have to change their uh they have to change what look at these guys yay cam they body paint let’s get the body painters to come to golf events that’s going to drive sponsorships it will not okay uh

Anyway all right let’s G we’re going to wrap this up now it’s nice I mean they have the nice look right like it’s it’s beautiful it’s beautiful it’s just losing a ton of money with 350 all right 350 million I’ll show you this with the kind of money that they’re

Backing it you can do whatever you want it’s not gonna help all right so um so live all right you’re on your all right so they have limited ticket shs and other sponsors so they’re footing the whole bill and if you again go back to that PGA uh Monahan um

Mickelson argument 50% to 25% prize money payouts which means uh they could be paying $750 million in expenses right live golf they could be$ 750 million the 375 million plus 375 million for expenses all right now uh PGA does 1.5 billion uh uh in total revenue so that

They can handle it but they you know this is an expense for Saudi ramco and for the public investment fund you know 750 million peanuts to uh to a5600 billion dollar operation I don’t know I would I I’m assuming that they they are economic actors given what I told you

About Vision Saudi Vision 3030 or 2030 and the uh what MBS has told is people he wants to do in terms of expanding their economy plus the guant right so this is 750 million a year probably in uh prize money and expenses plus the guarantees to Golfers all right so where is the

Revenue all right first of all where’s the revenue going to come from ticket sales aren’t going to do it for you what’s the benefit to Saudi Arabia and the public investment fund I’m sorry MBS I do not see it perhaps you do all right perhaps you do um so the live golf

Strategy uh assum again assuming it’s economic so live golf strategy was to try to peel as many of the top golfers away as they could remember that list right within this list are a few of biggies you know they offered $800 million to Tiger Woods he turned them

Down they got John ROM that is a stake to the heart possibly of the PG star star star again they’re vastly underpaid versus the average AP golfer okay like the PGA had a broken or they’re they’re they paid a lot of athletes okay and they were underpaying their top athletes and they were

Underpaying uh the athletes who had name recognition like mikkelson that weren’t good in earning prize money in the tournaments they earning spons money so they had a mismatch right so the economic fundamentals of golf in the PJ tour got away from them a little bit and

Liv has been able to exploit that right they were underpaying the top the the top players the top golfers and they’re underpaying the golfers everyone knows and loves and wants to be around right that affiliation I talked about so you know I’m pretty like Phil melson isn’t

As good at golf as he used to be he still plays well but Bubba Watson You’ rather be in a probably a proamp Bubba Watson than with you know the 50th ranked PGA Tour guy who I don’t even know right even though Bubba doesn’t really uh participate that well at the

High level so they running pay them so here’s a big question all you are the guarantees guaranteed I know they say they have to pay them but what if they go bankrupt right is this the liability of a foreign company from Saudi Arabia I hope you get

Your money but you know so here’s the big kicker right the golfers can still play in the majors in the ryer cup like the Liv didn’t restrict them which is really weird like you’re paying that kind of money uh you would think like no we’ll create our own Master’s tournament

Our own US Open or our own Majors tournaments um but they wouldn’t have sold the players then right again athlete for the athlete the competition comes first the money later remember the box like if there’s money we’ll take it but there no money we’ll still play like

I I would still compete and play Beach volleball if there was no money if there’s a box of money around I want my share that’s how it works everywhere they thought they were going to receive ow gr points so they thought they were gonna get ranking points which would

Allow them to play on the uh major St that’s going to be a that’s going to be a question mark with the US Open and the Open Championship of whether the live as they as haven’t played on the PGA tour whether they will be able to compete in

Those uh those uh Majors events uh because they don’t have the points right so you’re an athlete and you get to play in all the important competitions you don’t have to play in the crappy ones and somebody pay you ton more to play in the whatever ones live wants you to play

In Adelaide Tulsa who gives a Iowa Quad Cities North Carolina what’s the difference between North Carolina and Tulsa and uh you know Adelaide and wherever they want you to play because you want you want to play in the big biggies the big with important ones the

Ones with the big with the with Prestige right you want to play like Olympics right Olympics is a class as example they do not pay prize money zero zero Bagel your individual uh your individual national government bodies do they give you some money but the Olympics doesn’t

Pay anything neither did uh neither did um X Games so when X gam started at ESPN they’re like we’re not paying anything uh but if you want The Prestige of an X game gold medal and you want to get on television and you know have sponsors

And and get to that audience we’ll let you so that’s a good thing so and I think their strategy was to get back on the PGA tour was to say guys like again like like uh you need all the best golfers at PGA uh tour events or your

Economic model does not work your sponsors are going to not do that right they that’s not how it works all right you have to have all the players so I I think live strategy was to sort of like Strongarm the PGA into working with them right to force a merger with the PGA

Tour well you know as they say in war right the enemy has a has a vote once you commit to war so the PGA Tours vulnerability was they had to really completely out of touch management board and that’s clear when you talk to the players they’re like uh we have a player

Board and you never told us anything so you uh cut a deal you cut a deal with li remember they first they were fighting him then they cut a deal now they’re bringing other outside enemies and players like you haven’t mentioned a thing to us and that is actually happens

All the time as a matter of fact it happened I was on the board of directors I was there and they would make decisions without consulting us and and me particularly me you have to get my permission all right that’s like what I said at the beginning and they would

They would make decision I’m like first of all they were bad decision they were dumb now I was young again I was young I was inexperienced so I couldn’t articulate it and I couldn’t put it into proper business school speak I couldn’t you know by the way these slides I can

Put these slides together and I did this like maybe in 20 minutes it took me no time to put together these slides I could do that like d when you when I worked in Investment Banking in New York you can whip things out really quickly all right but back then I couldn’t have

Couldn’t have spoken this talk the talk uh but I knew what I was I knew what was going on intuitively and they would just make decisions that were dumb and just like oh we’re going to do City versus City like they’re doing now on the AP uh

Can somebody stop this is there anybody at the AP that can stop this stupid idea get back to putting on an event all right I I’ll send you my slides for God’s sakes just you know invite me to the tent to have a beer whatever I don’t

I don’t need any money or anything like that okay so the vulnerabilities where the economics of the business are getting disassociated from the audience and who won okay so that’s the problem like doesn’t matter like they didn’t care necessarily how many people went to a PGA event and they didn’t care who won

Right that’s not was motivating the sponsors to give them money all right the sponsors had other agendas other than like Wow Let’s see who wins this golf event like it’s really important or how this like they’re not the advertisers like Rolex is not advertising necessarily to the 100,000

People that are coming to a golf tournament okay nor is nor is Morgan Stanley unless they have you know a minimum of $10 million investable assets okay that’s that’s a fraction of the audience that com so got away from uh too many players are getting paid right

The percentage of the athletes was way too low and moan moan is wrong okay Mickelson is right so moan is talking about some crappy third tier second tier tour and using that as prize money of the total revenue no no it’s it’s it’s money to the top guys all right the top

Guys the guys who are winning and guys who are the best who are drawing the audience okay yes I know you could underpay them that well you got screwed you did it too long you got screwed Li came in and said we you could play less

Play less days and we’ll pay you more and you got hosed and you’re going to you’re going to pay the price they they’re getting paid incorrectly too again there’s uh it’s be in golf first of all in a single entity ownership model you should not be paying the guy’s

Prize money Donald son or Leonard armado or AVP is right you pay him some prize money he’s got again but but uh they’re getting paid incorrectly because uh the person who wins the golf event isn’t isn’t driving isn’t the one who drives Revenue all right they’re not coming the

Money is not coming to see the winner they’re coming to do other things as I said before right and again there again there’s always been just too much pressure to expand there just these these sports are getting out of you know World Cup does it every four years

Period I think they might have added some teams but not really the Olympics they had they only did it every four years they you know they add a winner you know what would happen if any of these other like swinging D’s right The Swinging Hicks got a hold of those

Properties they would have like like Finn Taylor would have 52 Olympics a year all right the ones that are disciplined Masters the same way they could have a master’s I think you have a Master Series but they didn’t do that actually Indie you know Indie the Indie

500 he broke away did an indie car because he wanted to do a series and he goes oh if you don’t if you don’t race on my series you don’t get to you know race in the Indianapolis 500 that did not work for various reasons I hope you

Now get I hope you get all right is that it all right okay so yeah so the pga’s response was the Sue Ban the players and disparage everybody you know calling everybody to bringing in 911 families as if golfers have anything to do that that was dumb all

Right uh they tried to unite the Golf Community right they did try to do the freeze out hey everybody let’s all get together and freeze the live golfers out right because now that ROM’s over there they’re toast anyway so it didn’t matter but at the time it’s just Mickelson and

They did a good job of marginalizing him and the players that went over there Brooks kept nobody likes him I do I love Brooks but I just heard some guys yapping about him some reason uh they didn’t realize that’s illegal of course as I told you these are uh government

Sanctioned cartels they wink wink and Nod nod and allow you to do things but when you come out and try to like really be a monopoly like all right so a person wants to set up a sandwich shop and you try to stop him from having a sandwich

Shop that’s not the way business Works in America like you can start a golf tour and hire away the pga’s golfers right you can’t go out there and say let’s all in Restraint of trade ban together right that osphere of sport of golf ban together and keep this

Competitor out who’s paying way higher wages to workers oh my God they raised prize money which was again the wrong decision all right first of all the players like where did this money come from they went from 12 million to 20 million to compete

On on a on a dollar basis with live golf and they got it wrong okay first of all the players like well where was this money and why wasn’t it being paid to us before remember the Box the Rocks like you don’t want the athletes to look into

The box necessarily when they they do peek into the box and the athletes realize you’ve been screwing them they’re gonna be pissed all right and they always are all right but because the problem was it wasn’t a money thing all right they the people didn’t go to

Live for the money necessarily they did it was the guarantee all right the players went to live for the guarantee all right PJ not for the increased prize money because they might not win it right remember these remember it’s not that easy to win a golf tournament right

It’s not that easy to win a or any particular it’s not easy to win any particular tournament look at tennis right tennis the ma Majors have been dominated by jokovic Nadal and Federer okay other than those two last 20 years it’s like a handful of guys that have

Won besides those three golf is not like that so just increasing prize money didn’t wasn’t a good response to the competitive threat of Liv because Liv was offering the guarantees all right it’s the guarantees and the quality right the less time all right that they if anything they should have they should

Have lowered the prize money increased the guarante like whatever like it just was the wrong wrong strategic move which is funny you know again live was offering anything you know players want International growth even though it’s not going to work but you know again they give give them what you want you

Get the players you worry about that later you tell them hey it’s not working out Singapore ain’t working out for us sorry right again you just make a deal now that you know you’re G to break later all right um they’re seeking out Equity Partners all right uh again how’s that going like

I think the Red Sox Fenway Fenway Sports is the big one and and what are they selling okay is the point how is it going to work what are they selling they’re a nonprofit player association what are they selling uh I get it they’re going to take the money and do

What distribute it out to the players to compete when it’s not a competition on money H it’s just a weird strategy again like some of the stuff I give you is simple like when I talk about audience alignment you know micro influencers when I talk about strategies with the

Ball all right that that’s that’s easy stuff like not saying I have the answer to this one I but I don’t think they have the answer okay I don’t think they have the answer either because this is super complicated from strategic perspective with a lot of movie parts so

It’s not really clear to me and I would know I would see it if it was clear it’s not too clear to me and I would see it uh if they had a path that was going to be successful I think they are all swimming in the dark and there’s an ex

Again I told you that before the uh the out of touch management board the board is not configured to really understand this a bunch of like New York investment bankers who just want to hang out with tiger and hit balls with Rory mroy right they’re not they’re not like you know

Down in the dirt operators who are kind of looking through this stuff and seeing what the implications of it are all is all right they’re the deal guys it’s a first thing they thought let’s get some other let’s not do a deal with live let’s do a deal with Fenway well first

Of all you shouldn’t have done a deal anyway like you’re you have two responses remember what we talked about in the NFL the NFL had two responses wait or merch okay you wait for the other to fail or emerge with them because they’re not failing they’re successful those are the only two

Responses off out of the gate that PGA had which is why their response was horrible they someone should have if it was me there I’d be like guys there’s only two ways this is gonna go They’re gonna die or you’re gonna merge with them and we don’t know what that looks

Like okay so you better again bringing in an equity part bringing in Fenway hasn’t changed the fact that if live is successful they have ROM right they have Mickelson right they have remember this this one they have they have four four of the top seven ma Majors winner for

That matters right so the major tournaments live as Brooks Phil Bubba and John ROM and PJ has Justin Rory and tiger right lives winning all right they’re not gonna doesn’t look like they’re gonna fail what is Fenway gonna do with you anyway well what’s the Fallout well

Wells Fargo pulled out all right Wells Fargo remember I told you that where are we here they have do I have my Wells Fargo maybe it’s in the other one whatever all right well doesn’t matter I had an article you could have seen it you could Wells Fargo’s pulled out of

Their sponsorship of uh the North Carolina event and they taking their 15 million and that is just the beginning all everybody remember what I told you about AP and the new new guys all right coming in and telling you athletes what’s going on well and with The Gatekeepers AP hasn’t gotten my

Permission all right well the sponsors have a say in this too they know what’s going on as well they they if I were to present this to Wells Fargo they’d be like yeah get it I don’t even need the slides K what you’re saying is they don’t have the athletes or gone it

Doesn’t work for us from a sponsorship maybe right they understand that you know fractured players means what’s gonna happen is a major they’re gonna be huge right because everybody’s at the Masters Tournament everybody’s at the US Open everybody’s the Open Championship it’s gonna be good for PGA championships

Too because that’s a that’s a major right they’re they’re the ones like PGA allows their athletes to go to the majors Liv allows their athletes to go to the majors the ones that collect the all the golfers like the Masters or like the PGA Championship are going to Vault

That’s what we everyone’s the more most people are going to want to see that more people are going to want to see that than every other one right as I said before I don’t think anybody knows what to do right the live business model is going to fail and they’re gonna have

To come up with another business model because or they’re just going to pay 375 to 750 million do a year to just go hang out with golfers MBS and apparently the guy the Saudi uh person who’s in charge of the live golf tour is just a big golf

Fan and just likes hanging out with the guys that would be great that’s an expensive Hospitality ticket right and uh because the problem the golf is not golf all right it’s a different golf which is fine we’re not sure if they can can’t it’s wonder if you can monetize

That right and are they even selling the hospitality like are they selling 10 20 30 $40,000 Hospitality Suites uh to when there’s like really nobody there like what are you who are you hospitala to just want to hang out in a nice tent I get it if if you’re Bank of America at

The US Open you’re going to pay5 million bucks for the hospitality suite because you just you know you sold $200 million worth of Bank of America but if Bank of America gets a hospitality suite in Adelaide do they sell $200 million worth of products to what whoever customers

Want to come like does any the rich people or important people want to go to live golf Events maybe maybe now that they got ROM right and of course the PGA Tours in uncharted waters we talked about that they’re in uncharted waters with the equity partners

You know PJ is a nonprofit and they’re bringing in a for-profit entity that’s the problem of the international uh with the fivb and volleyball world you have a nonprofit entity and and a for-profit en interacting and it becomes very very very very complicated all right I hope everyone on the international side is

Disclosing their uh their never mind the point is is that uh you have different goals all right you have different right so the PGA Tours get more money to the players is right it’s also to serve itself but uh the equity part is in for they it to

Make a profit so the less they pay the athletes the better it is for the equity partner all right that’s that’s irresolvable it’s irresolvable because if it was me and I was say again if I was advising a a swinging D on the AP I’d cut that prize money I only pay the

Top guys and go with tournaments and tough like that’s what a for-profit any does again those for-profit guys need to have their Landscaping bill paid because it’s a big yard they got in those houses right Bob Bob you got a big yard although you’re selling your house aren’t you

Anyway all right this is coming to the end here’s our ball we’ve talked about that uh professional Beach all right that’s it I think I’ve talked about this uh I usually ended up with professional like beach volleyball because that’s what I did uh but maybe some UK because

Golf uh but the people that know me and have listened to me have heard this all and this is getting long um yeah I mean they’re they’re not gonna they’re not gonna finally all right yeah my sport beach volleyball if it wants to get big

Again you got to build a Brick by Brick and not shtick by shtick and shtick by stick is City versus City Heritage Tour last year was tears and tours it’s always different the elite 16 blah blah okay you build a Brick by Brick or just find another rich guy or Saudi to

Bankroll you and that is it okay I hope you enjoyed this I I really enjoyed it I really enjoyed it I got to tell you I love I just just I you know anybody want to come on too if you’re if you’re knowledgeable about this and want to

Share if you want to share your thoughts or opinions and you’re kind of got you know an NBA or involved in sports marketing or Sports business love to have you I’d love to start a conversation along these lines that would be super cool all right again you

Guys have a good weekend uh I good I’m going to work I’m gonna get my coffee and hit uh what is going on hold on here we got let me see what we got here is uh vix let me see what the vix is doing uh we’re

Hunched what ever it’s going to go up still even more it’s going to go up although you missed it you should there two two weeks ago ponia capital is the firm or is my firm that I work for and this is my hobby and that’s why I got to
