Now if you thought things can get any worse for golf in general well you’re wrong they can so less than 24 hours ago we saw Martin Slumbers one of the Chiefs at the RNA announced that he’s retiring at the end of the year we have now heard

That Keith Pelle is resigning as the head of the DP World Tour Yes you heard me right he is stepping down and leaving golf all together now I’m telling you right now that cannot be a coincidence the things that I’ve got in my mind is they’ve got their exit strategy for one

Reason or another whether they don’t like the direction of the tour the way it’s going the merger between the DP World Tour the PJ tour and live golf PJ tour Enterprises there’s so many things that could be happening here but I know for a fact something must be going on

Now if you think the same thing let me know down in the comments exactly what you think it could be be we’re going to go through exactly what is going on where Keith Pelle is going and what does this mean for live golf Rebels remember the likes of Stenson Westwood polter

What does this mean for them now and also remember Stenson wasn’t allowed to be Ridder Cup captain so alarm Bells must be ringing in every single locker room on the DP world tour with the fact that Keith Pelle the chief executive of the DP World Tour the second high-profile leader in the professional

Game to quit in the last two days now currently the DP will tour is negotiating alongside the PJ tour with merger talks with the Saudi public investment fund now I will say this Keith Pelle isn’t the person at the table of those talks but as the head of

The DP will tour he will be heavily involved and could this have something to do with him stepping down potentially I think it could a close confident of Jay Monahan said P surprise exit will cause consternation in the traditional corridors of power P first brought the sais on board with the

Formation of the Saudi International that appeared on the tour schedule around 2019 to 2021 and is crucial at bringing the respective parties to the table last year now did you remember that tournament I I remember that tournament in Saudi Arabia it was part of I think the European tour DP World

Tour during that period of of Co I think and I me think the likes of Dustin Johnson were paid serious amounts of money I’m talking like 500,000 just to turn up it was it was ridiculous amounts of money I mean that doesn’t sound so much now live golf here but let’s be

Honest that is ridiculous amounts of money so does that have something to do with him stepping down the fact that he has been in the talks knows a direction potentially isn’t happy with the direction and I decided to get out before something else happens because think about this way all we’ve heard

About is PJ tour Enterprises and I see that as the strong arm that overlooks Liv DP will tour and the PGA tour now does that mean you don’t really need a like of Keith Pelle now you don’t need that person and he’s thinking right I’m

Going to get out of here before it’s too late oh what do you think I just think something’s fishy going on I really do I cannot get that out of my head Now Keith Pelle is heading away from gol and heading up to Toronto’s four sport franchises so no longer at Wentworth HQ

And as I said this is a crucial time for the Mayo game now for me I see this for Pelle as a once in the lifetime opportunity he turned 60 on Thursday Maple Leaf sports and entertainment limited is one of the largest of its kind in North America with multi-billion

Dollar assets including an ice hockey team basketball team and MLS team Toronto FC now as a proud toronian so I’m guessing that means local um it got to be a dream job for him and the rumors are that dream job comes with a salary of more than3 million a year now I don’t

Know what he was paid the DP worlds but it sounds like this is a lot of money and potentially could even be more than what he was on so maybe it’s just the fact that a once in a lifetime opportunities come along or that he’s been seeking it because of the way

Things are going Wing So this begs the question what does this mean for the Liv golf Rebels and I’m saying rebels in the sense of cash your mind back right the first live golf event in London Stenson Lee Westwood pter Sergio Garcia were all present at this event and they got told

If you play this event you’re going to get a 100,000 Euro fine and every event that you go and play you’re going to get fined Stenson also got told that he wouldn’t be able to be a Ridder Cup captain he also told players that you lose any any DP World Tour membership SL

European tour membership that you’ve ever had so all ties are cut and I have to say I feel like that got a little bit personal in the end so does him stepping down now open up the Gateway back for those players to come and play um on the

DP World Tour even features a captain a Vice Captain in the Ryder Cup I think potentially that could open that door back up so I think this will give some live golfers well confidence in their situation going forwards I know I keep saying this but I just can’t get it out

My head that something must be going on here like something has to be going on like I don’t know what it is I wish I did but this just gets me thinking and for sure right because this is your home of breaking news in the golf industry I

Will be doing a lot of digging I will find out exactly what’s going on so I can bring you all the breaking news now it’s not all bad news there is some positive news in the DP world World Tour have been prepared for this moment it looks like they got a readymade

Replacement in guy Kennings he’s a former head of IMG Golf and has been pelle’s Deputy for more than five years he impressed as Europe’s Ridder cup director and furthermore the Englishman has previously managed the likes of Garcia Stenson as well as Ridder Cup captain Luke Donald so he’s going to be

An ideal candidate to take the DP World Tour further and you know what an ideal Captain to sail the ship through this turbulent Waters of the live golf PJ tour DP World Tour merger I hope I hope guys thanks so much for watching today’s breaking news story here on bat

N films it’s definitely got me thinking this is no coincidence that two senior officials have stepped down within 24 hours of each other here we go

  1. You're seeing the Saudi PIF's non-violent takeover of professional men's golf in full view. This has been year's in the making, but now you're seeing their masterplan executed in rapid fire succession. First Slumbers resigns and now, Pelley. Coincidence? I don't think so. These were calculated departures. The last thing Jay's going to do before quietly exiting stage left in March is the sign the deal giving the keys to the PGAT kingdom to Yasir Al-rumayyan. This will leave Greg Norman and or Colin Neville to run the new organization. Once the dust settles from this transition of power, the women's game will be targeted next. Unlike the PGAT, the commissioners and players of the LPGA and LET will not put up a fight and will quickly acquiesce to the Saudi PIF demand's. Once the Saudi PIF has full control of men and women's professional golf, the OWGR will immediately get on-board and figure out way to award points to those playing 54-hole team golf events or else find themselves on the outside looking in, as they'll be powerless and no longer needed. This has been a slow moving train until now, but I've seen this coming since the formation of the PGL – Premiere Golf League (Colin Neville) came into existence in 2019. LIV effectively co-opted the PGL's format, as the PGL couldn't sell their concept to the PGAT and didn't have the financial resources to go it alone. Sauidi PIF did, which is why we are where we are at today. Rory sees the writing on the wall as well, which explains why he's quickly turned tail. It's going to be an interesting year in the world of golf, is all I can tell you. Hold on to your hats, gang, as you haven't seen anything yet. 😉

  2. The biggest hypocrisy from the PGA Tour and DP World Tour is they kept bashing Saudi Arabia, yet DP stands for Dubai Ports. Hmmm curious how they didnt want to call it the Dubai Ports World Tour, yet Dubai Ports is based in the United Arab Emirates, who has a questionable human rights record. So Fed Ex, sponsor of the PGA Tour Playoffs, does business in Saudi Arabia as well as all of the other PGA Tour sponsors, yet The PGA TOUR and DP world Tour were bashing players for bolting to a Tour run by PIF, yet all their sponsors do business with Saudi Arabia. I have no problem with Saudi Arabia or Dubai, but stop being hypocrites about the entire situation. This is why players flocked to LIV in addition to big pay day and all players have admitted such. Its a world economy, look at China's track record yet I would guess all US Corporations do business in China. You cant point your fingers at others when you, yourself are no better PGA Tour and DP World Tour. Most people that run Orgs like the USGA, R&A and Tours are incompetent maroons.

  3. DP Doing the same thing the pga tour did with Monahan bringing a number 2 up automatically. How that work out?

Pelley has gotten less scrutiny than Monahan, but only because he followed Monahan blindly.

The euros tour has kept the opinions on their leader under wraps, but you have to imagine much like the boys across the pond, the euro players were not the happiest with their top suit.

Although i will say that while becoming a feeder tour To a diminishing pga tour was not going to make players happy, at least pelley got them a way out of there and into the pga tour.

It’s amazing someone would offer him a raise to leave but pelley does not seem as incompetent as others in this saga.

Pelley really was in a tough spot. He should have kept working with the Saudis imo as he had been working with them while the pga tour mostly ignored them for years. So there’s that.

At the end of the day all the people leading the establishment through this era will be looking to get out of there at the first opportunity.

For goodness sakes they’ve done enough….

The only thing I would like to see moving forward is the golf organizations having complete, transparent searches for new leadership. I really don’t like this automatic promotion system.

  4. In business when the top executives are not selected for a top position in the future company they leave. They usually leave before the final announcements are made to the public.

  5. The shifting and landscaping change of world golf has begun..the current golf leadership is being ousted by the Saudi’s either by finance or muscle imo

  6. If you look closely at these people leaving you will notice chocolate on their fingers 🙂, Just like Jay I think Someone has had their hand in the Cookie Jar . "We better get out of here before Mum gets home"

  7. Keith Pelley used to be President of Rogers Media here in Canada. Rogers does sports, tv and internet. He also used to be CEO of TSN, a sport media company. These are supposed to be rival companies. Rogers and TSN each own 35% of Maple Leafs Sports for a total of 70%. Now, who own TSN? Well, its mostly Bell Media and also ESPN. Yup, he used to work at Bell Media as well.

Back in 2015, the CEO position opens up at Maple Leafs Sports. They wanted Keith. The excuse they gave was that they were worried he was too much of a "Rogers guy". That makes no sense. I think he 100% turned it down and became DP Tour CEO instead. He sits on the OWGR board. In 2023, he's the IGF Chairman and is supposed to serve until 2027. Will that change? Dunno. The Olympics are coming up and I just found out qualifications is done through world rankings.

MLSE CEO position has been open since March 2022. No way he's going back voluntarily to a job he turned down 8 years ago. Anyone really think that with all the connections he has at Bell, TSN, Rogers and MLSE, that he couldn't have had that CEO position anytime he wanted, especially in 2015 when it was open? C'mon.

Here's where some coincidences start to crop up. Remember Martin Slumbers? The CEO that resigned from R&A? Guess when he started as CEO? 2015. Same year as Pelley. They both sat on the OWGR board for the exact same number of years. They're both on the IGF board. And Pelley took over IGF CEO position from Monahan in 2022. Pelley is also the Managing Partner for the European Ryder Cup.

That last bit is interesting. Remember Rory saying recently that Rahm absolutely needs to be in the Ryder Cup? I bet Pelley was none too happy.

Now 2 people on the OWGR board are gone.

I don't know exactly what's going on. But something IS going on. My gut tells me there's some internal infighting going on between the Players and the higher ups at the PGA and DP tours.

    Sorry for the long post.

  8. Jay M and these other scoundrels create commissions and groups that their added to paying each other millions essentially stealing from tour players making more than anyone knew but now it’s coming out they are getting out of Dodge

  9. Agree 100%, pif is taking everything over…i wouldnt be suprised if part of the merger is Jay steps down. The stars eventually run all sports, its just the way it is and will be that way forever. In this instance the saudis will always be bigger than the stars bit will pay them enormous amounts of money. My gut tells me you will have a star studded world tour, then the pga and dp tours will be the lower feeder tours… sorry rory you picked the wrong side

  10. If the dp world tour combined with liv in its infancy, they would have been the biggest tour in the world and world Golf would be in an Amazing position.

Instead the dp world tour is a secondary tour and boring to watch and consume

  11. Let’s turn back the clock , never heard any of this crap, biggest soap opera now. It used to be golfers qualified to become a pro, tournaments had generous sponsors. Golfers needed to make a cut in order to earn money and points to retain card. Barely knew who ran the whole business, just enjoyed watching golfers with lots at stake. Now it’s back fighting, infighting, greed, wild new formats, team golf, politics, new rule every year, more and more private golf course. All this is about money and greed. The once average golfer now can’t afford to play nice courses, that might not be private. The words itself country club makes me vomit. The rich want it all.

  12. I can't help but wonder if the PIF owns or influenced the Toronto Sports Organization. It honestly does sound like a dream job for the guy. Sounds like a mighty big, bright, carrot 🥕 , with the timing of its availability extremely suspicious.

  13. If only Jay would follow their example… Anyway, I have been saying for a while that LIV should take over/replace DP tour and make it a genuine European Tour to rival PGA tour in America…maybe that's happening in some way or form

  14. getting? its been suspicious all along. dp tour has been falling fast last number of years. pga has more respect for korn ferry than dp tour now

  15. DP World Tour are now suffering from the very, very wrong decision of choosing to go all in on the PGA Tour. The tour has been relegated to a feeder tour below the level of the Korn Ferry. Along with LIV and the Asian Tour they could've become a World Tour at the top of the game. It was obviously a terrible decision at the time and they are reaping what they sowed.

  16. Unfortunately for Mr Pelley, he has come across as weak since LIV emerged. The perception of the DP World tour is now as a feeder to the PGA tour. My opinion is that Mr Pelley, Mr Monahan, and Mr Norman need to step back from the running of the merger, in spite of doing such a great job of it( sarcasm). The game is in a bad place with falling viewing figures and ever increasing costs of equipment and memberships. I watch more of the womens tournaments than the men's.

  17. You forgot to mention that Slumbers and Pelley are on the OWGR Policy committee that decides the formula for allocation of points. Are they also stepping down from those roles?

  18. The PGA and DP are deeply corrupted organizations. Greg knew this decades ago, Phil knew this. LIV was started as a way to effectively destroy the PGA. The PGA helped this destruction immensely by staying true to their corrupted leaders and doing things like starting a negative PR campaign and all sorts of other BS. The PGA is finished. Look at the sponsors leaving now. Their greed and narcissism destroyed them. ITs awesome. Its also awesome seeing all the trump derangement sufferers, oops I mean, LIV derangement sufferers hanging on to the hope of a Rory salvation and now a Tiger salvation (apparently the greatest dad in the world, and an awesome guy even tho not a single honest word has ever come out of his whore loving mouth). The PGA has only the PGA to blame for this and its delicious to watch.

  19. Greg Norman.. was so bitter after Larry & Bob chipped in.. it festered on his arrogant mind.. and this is what we get.. a very sad Australian. (I’m an Aussie)

  20. Who cares, golf nowadays seems to be all about money and sod everyone else. How does it affect me as an ordinary golfer? Not at all as I still have to pay through the nose to play golf and those in golf who earn a fortune only care about themselves. Let them get on with whatever they want as I personally now don’t give a dam! Have a nice day all. 👍

  21. I absolutely share your despair about the state of the professional golf establishment. The Arabs have sown complete chaos into the sport with their obscene money. Over the past few years they have succeeded in turning the history, tradition and values of the sport into a money-grabbing clown show. Some of our most cherished household names past and present have forever been tarnished by this rampant clusterfk I include Greg Norman in that. God only knows what is now happening at the R&A and DPWT but for sure millions and millions of $ is changing hands and heads are still being turned away from good sense and sound decision-making.
