I Hired a World Class Golf Coach and recorded the session

Hey guys what is up welcome back to my channel I have a really cool video for you guys I actually put on my community tab if you guys would like to see a lesson with my golf coach Bernie AGR currently top 30 coach in the United States and are you guys overwhelming at
Le said yes and I am seriously working on my game I have big Visions for my golf game in the future and a huge part of that is short game work so without further Ado I’ll introduce him he’s been my coach since I was 12 years old you
Guys might have seen him in the channel I’m Bernie Nar it’s great to see everyone and we’re excited to share with you guys some cool stuff Kyle’s working on to improve his wedge game and putting and we’re doing it here in my home studio in Bethesda Maryland where I’ve
Got a nice setup to go through different parts of the short game and I’ll show you guys just a little tour so this is obviously the hitting base actually brand new to me as well I’ve come down here a good bit but this is all really cool setup we’re already starting to
Work on some wedges and over here we have a couple really cool things as well I got this we got the S putut lab which I’m extremely excited to uh walk you guys through really cool technology this uh green here actually undulates so he can manipulate the slope and the break
Of the green which is really cool because I think if you want to become a great putter you got to get used to making putts from any kind of angle and you got to be able to consistently recreate that slope I’m pretty excited to get into this I’ve been playing
Really really well lately we’re just trying to build off of that because if I keep playing this way we’re definitely going to want to start entering some tournaments but we’re going to work on through wedges a little bit maybe some shipping but definitely a good amount of
Putting and I think you guys will take a lot from this because obviously my short game isn’t the best but I got to be honest I think it’s pretty darn good better than maybe some people might think but there’s always room for improvement there so I hope you guys get
Something from this we’re going to be walking you guys through a lot of ways to improve your short game please be sure to like the video subscribe to the Channel all that good stuff I appreciate you tuning in let’s get started all right so you’re going 9 to three beautiful just like
That I just want you to hit three or four those just to get calibrated here you can see that’s right around 70 yard po up the exact same yeah so there you go but I’ll be honest with you guys I haven’t been practicing a ton the last
Honestly since world I’ve been doing a lot of content creation and things like that but when I have played my golf has been way better than to be honest I’m used to with the amount I’m playing which to me tells me my body I think for
Whatever reason just is in a good mode right now and that’s why we’re doing this we’re trying to build off that and see if me continuing to improve warrants more involvement in competitive golf look at that 288 slightly lower flight what I like is your your strikes
Here are very consistent just keep that looft down a little bit more in The Hitting Zone so I was at a dinner with Tom K who was one of the best sedge players of all time on the PGA tour and I had a chance to ask Tom some questions
And I asked him I said what’s the secret to to playing the PGA Tour and he laugh and he says well if you can hit your long irons high and your short irons low you can play the PGA Tour you have the most competitive Advantage for hitting
The ball high based on your speed the most challenge because of your speed to hit it low with control but that’s the area you’ve improved the most was either last or the winter before we got really serious about so I would hit full shots even with like eight or n from 200 yards
Of his death and we had a statue be M and it showed between like 160 to 200 in the Fairway I was awful and I was actually hitting closer from those yardages From the Rough and it actually made sense to we dug into it because what happens in the rough you create
Less spin but the ball in the ball goes almost as far not further so what was happening was there was a spin problem if I was sitting a N9 iron full it might go 190 but I’m spinning at 8,500 9,000 but let’s say I’m from 190 in the rough
I can hit a 48 wedge because he going to spin less and since it spins less it’s a more predictable offl and that’s why I was been closer From the Rough so what we found we needed to do is we needed to break my right arm my trail arm to
Create less speed so that we could lower the club speed of my 789 iron so that I could hit a more predictable ball flight what we did is we slow down my swing we implemented a flighted shot um that allowed me to swing slower with still controlling where the ball wi really
Good that’s great right there so you can see that launch angle under 30 and you can see a spin rate around 8,000 and again you have opposite issues to most people but regardless you got to know your numbers what I’d say to you Kyle you know your swing what I love
Is much like a Steve Stricker back’s like nice quiet hand action enough arm swing good acceleration but not excessive this looks really good I’m happy to hear that he didn’t say that too much me I got my hand save the compliments let’s go to your your next
Wedge down in the back4 yeah let’s just see what happens look at that a beautiful thing is you can predict these numbers especially with your ability to swing consistently but most of you I know out there can swing you’re only swinging 56 to 60 M hour most golfers can no problem
Get to that number they can’t swing 150 plus miles hour like you but we can all get 50 60 m an hour just got to figure out that swing length put the club on the ball properly and you’re going to hit some nice W shots so that’s
Worth noting so 54° 9 and 9 is about an 80 yard shot the 60° 9 and9 is about a 70 yard shot 78.6 that literally might go the hole that’s liing four 5 ft short of the hole why don’t we try the next lock down what
Do we have so I got 48 and also just you guys know I have different sets of wedges so like I have pretty much every single loft there is to have thanks to COBRA a little light on the wedges for what I normally have I typically will
Have five in the bag but I just got done playing some matches where I wanted to have both my one and two iron back so I had to take out of wedge so my if the trend is correct this should go about 90
Yard in the year I mean 85 to 90 yard in year hey you might just need to handle a touch more forward that’s better you see the angle drops then there’s nice work this is good and again this is like it’s a long process but like a big part of it is
Maintaining the speed I have and then instituting new habits with the right clubs so now we’re on to the putting side of this and by the way this is just one lesson let me know in the comments if you guys want to see this being a recurring thing on the Channel first
Thing we need to do is measure the putter make sure that we know the specs because you can’t measure what you don’t know why don’t you explain what we’re checking first thing is want to know how long the putter is you can take a roller measure from The Sweet Spot to the butt
Of the club and Kyle’s putter here is at 36/2 if you want to get fancy you can use something like this here to get the same ratio and depending on where you are not everybody has these so you can use the simple 48 in measuring stick but
Here’s 36 half and then over here is my Loft and line machine where I want to double check what his specs are in terms of the L angle and the Loft we can see your lle 71 1/2 and your loft is 3°. we’ll see how that rolls when you putt
When I say that with the Sam Studio we’re going to be measuring just like trackman where we see how the ball is coming off the putter but also how you’re delivering the putter so if we need to adjust loft or the lie to help you roll it better we will do that
Always good to know how much much the putter weighs and in your case here this putter being 362 is pretty heavy and again if we were going to make a tweak or if you were going to get a different putter we want to come back and make
Sure the weight the length the LIE The Loft all matches up this stuff really starts mattering once you get to a scratch handicap because there’s a lot of things you can sh up to get to a scratch most people would agree Pros are between about a plus 6 and plus 8 it’s
Just like when you get your game to a certain level if you want to start keep getting better everything has to be measured everything has to be identif to improve that’s what this stuff does and um you guys will see in a little bit I’ve teased it that’s what this is going
To do here it’s the sand putt lab it’s going to help measure stuff that uh you can’t see the naked eye and it’s going to give us an idea of my consistency of strike my consistency of stroke path and my stroke Cadence this is just part of
Trying to get shots on other side of scratch and it’s a lot of fun so I’m excited to show you guys what this looks like this is very highle stuff but I think it’s also very applicable to Golfers of all skill levels so this would be really cool all right with the
Sam put lab we put a triplet on the Putter and this is 10 in from The Sweet Spot and we do this very carefully to measure where the club is tracking and when Kyle makes a number of Strokes we’ll get some data and we’re going to
Look at his Tendencies and we’ll look at what he does well if there are any areas that we want to work on with the Sam putt Studio we have a projection system so that when the ball rolls off the face we start to see not only the roll
Pattern but the launch and some other cool things to help analyze what’s going on with this putting so I’m going to just calibrate Kyle’s putter here and once we know where zero is he’s ready to putt all right so I’m going to hit six putts and then after these six putts
We’re going to get a baseline of some of a ton of different Things all right see how we did what you can see here is at a dress you start the putter on average 1.3 de open so you’re aimed a little bit to the right you’re in a good Zone but to be better we want
To get in a green zone so we want to get within a degree on a these different pots we went from 2.46 186 169 1.7 2313 so you can see you got into the green there so Kyle does a really good job with his putter path the overall
Ball Direction here it’s launching five right again that could be because you were thinking about it may be breaking left okay so those are little things that happen you can see your impact Point slightly towards the heel which you know but not not too far off and I
Wouldn’t worry about that as we keep going down the line if we look at some different characteristics you tend to get the face a little bit open into your path and you’re a right aimer so you really got to release that putter to square it and I would Point your guys attention to
This this is actually something we’ve talked about before that is not what you want to see if you look at tour Pros that little where you see my finger point that little Curve will be exactly at impact so what I actually do is I accelerate past impact which can cause
Inconsistencies with launch speed which obviously leads to inconsistencies with Pace if I can push that Peak right there to write at impact I think there’s a chance that my three putt coincidence would go down a lot that was really really good RA raise this a little bit of dress
A little more you know like you’re doing a Bryson almost raise the handle and don’t bump into my hand there you go look really good super clean that’s what I would expect with a good stroke path based on over guys that is literally rolling over that is the
Target line is a tiny I don’t know you see the tiny red there that’s literally centered centered rolling over that’s crazy these won’t be permanent unless I probably make say 50 to 100 shs a day for a couple months eventually the goal is for me to do this without thinking
Because to be clear right now my brain is very active trying to create that stroke so that’s not optimal for playing golf so what you want to do is do that stroke so many times that you’re not even aware you’re doing it anymore which is then allows you to play unconscious
Which is what I think when you make your Best Cuts burnd Dog yeah he heard one of my juniors call me burn dog one time we just thought it was hysterical that’s how you’re going to introduce me to DJ what’s that when you go play with DJ K yeah you say it’s burn
Dog burn dog I love it shout out DJ C loves the game golf much anybody I’ve ever seen all right guys so we’re going to do one more six ball capture and I think this going to be the ultimate comparison from where I started to where
I now so we’re going to do one more six ball um test see where I am and we’ll wrap this thing up but I hope you guys have getting a lot of value from This so you really improve your really nice yeah cuz if you guys looked earlier I would be boom but now it’s that’s pretty neutral it’s hard to pu offline like that yeah and I’m not too worried about the face impact because to be honest like I didn’t move back about an inch I
Was probably really striking in towards the heel a little too much that that’s my last one yeah I would say that’s your mic drop there because the face is so nice and squirt your that you guys look that’s the target line I mean literally like laid right over it so earlier strong
Grip THS a little too far forward left hand grip a little weaker raise the handle a little bit those things in your setup and the ball being a touch back will help with that and then if I’m swinging my arm towards the camera I don’t want to be doing this through the
Putt yeah what he’s done is he’s turned my um shoulders as well by by telling telling me to cut my tuck my trail arm behind and raise my left arm look what he’s actually done he’s going take my shoulders from this to that and so that
Allows me to square up everything else a lot more easily too so that’s a really good thing for me to keep working on but um yeah guys that was a really cool session I feel like I got a lot from this I hope you guys did too let me know
In the comments if you guys want to see more videos my check-ins with Bernie you guys want to see more lessons like this where we go into different things about the golf golf game and things like that let me know with that being said I’ll Bernie socials down in the description
Below you guys enjoyed it I’ll see you guys next time

Do you think going on tour is something in your future? Or is your heart set on being king of WLD
First, definitely want to see more of this content. Second, with that 48*, is that 5600 spin enough to stop it at that trajectory under relatively normalish green conditions (nothing extremely dry or firm), or do you have to allow for a decent amount of forward kick and rollout?
I prefer the ball in the rough, I have more control when the ball hits the green.
Really good what you pointed out during your putting that you need to be doing this hundreds of times a day for a couple of months for it to be engraved in your mind and eventually doing it on autopilot!
I want to see you try to make 10 putts from 10 feet. See how many shots it takes you.
Would be very intriguing to see where you are in tournament golf! Good luck!
love it
I want to see the back spin you can create on a full send flop shot. Great video
Yes more instructional videos
Hi Kyle, have been watching your stuff for a while and this is some of the best – no-one can swing woods or irons like you but we can all learn to control the putter like you. You’re pretty tall but 36.5 is still an unusually long putter – do you/Bernie advocate standing tall and swinging a long putter or crouching with a more arcing stroke (for consistency) ?
how well do you find practicing short game on a sim translates to the course?
I think the club being steeper rather than going around your body would give you much more control & consistency for these chip & pitch shots ! Kyle, look up “Dead hand wedge with Jason Day” , this technique is the best & most consistent I’ve ever seen ! Thanks for the great content 👍🙏
I’m in Bethesda md would be crazy to see you
Nice to see Bernie again. I am always interested in seeing the things that can get Kyle as far as he can go in this game, so bring it on. The putting measurement and tracking is very interesting and I'm sure will be very helpful if used regularly.
One thing that I have found very helpful for my putting is keeping my grip pressure absolutely consistent in both hands throughout the stroke. The pressure can be a little higher or lower depending on the person but keeping it consistent does wonders for controlling the head of the putter. I find that pressure changes are what cause (or allow) me to do slight manipulation of the face or path of the putter.
i think that nailing down a lot of these details in your game could pay really big dividends Kyle and I hope that it does. Cheers.
Nice to follow your development with Bernie regarding the close game Kyle ⛳️🤓
Love seeing the lessons. Why did you go away from the arm lock?
