It has come to my attention that a lot of you have a serious problem with your golf game that problem is one that you may think is very hard to fix but I’m going to show you today the problem is hitting behind the golf ball with your
Iron shots now it can be very frustrating especially after you’ve hit a good drive off the te you get to the ball and you start duffing your irons but today I’m going to give you three simple tips that are going to help you eradicate those hitting behind the golf
Ball shots for good so let’s head over to that Golf Course right there and fix your game let’s go First of all the number one reason that I see people hitting behind the golf ball is simply because they are always trying to lift the ball up into the air you’re trying to get Loft you’re trying to get height and to do that you’re leaning back like you would almost for a
Driver and you’re trying to drive into the back of that ball and pick it off the surface but what this does is it moves our Center back and we’re more likely to strike here when we move the center of our chest back here so by doing that you’re more likely to hit the
Ground here and get that dreaded grind first and sometimes you can get some Thin shots where you’ve just missed the grind and you hit the middle of the golf ball okay so that’s all good and well but we need to give you these three tips that are going to really help you stop
Putting the grind first and start hitting some really nice crispy iron shots so let’s get straight into it the tip number one is our setup ball position so this is an eight iron and mid iron so with eight iron nine iron seven iron this is going to be the same
And for six iron five iron four iron we’re going to move the ball up a half half a ball every club we go up starting off I want you to start with your feet together like this okay if you drew a line back from that golf ball it should
Hit the middle gap of your feet there from here we’re going to take two equal steps now that’s our ball position and remember the ball position is the back of the golf ball ball position right in the center for this eight iron so that’s you ball position sorted straight away
As simple as that the second thing is that we’ve got to make sure that we are in the correct posture and so to do that what I want you to do is go back to your feet together ball in line with the center Gap there start off with your leg
Straight your back straight and the arms out in front like this simply what we’re going to do is Bend from the hip until the club hits the ground our chest is pointing more D towards the golf ball instead of sitting in this position where the chest Point’s up in front of
Us it’s D towards the golf ball and then from here we’re going to take those two steps I talked about for ball position and now then we’re going to soften the knee slightly and have our pressure running through the balls of the feet that’s us inbalance and imp posture to
Make a consistent smooth swing action where we have great rotation so the third thing that’s going to help you hit your irons great is our little half swing drill so what we want to see is that we can take the club back into the takeaway set the club with a bit of turn
And then from here we’re going to pressure shift left and finish nice and low like this as you’ll see I actually hit the grind perfectly just after the ball there so I knew that I’m swinging down at that golf ball I’m going to compress that golf ball and I’m
Going to get a nice strike on that iron shot but how do we do it to do this we’re going to break the back swing down into two parts so first of all it’s our takeaway so what we want to see is that we can take the club back almost like a
Putting action we don’t want to see any rotation at this point because then the club gets too far behind us want to take it back like a putting action until the hands reach just level with the right leg there then from here we are going to
Set the club and turn the body that gets us into this nice half swing position where the club is on plane we’ve set the wrist so now we’re going to be able to get speed if we transfer our weight correctly and get through to that finish position and so then the final thing
With this half swing is just what we need to feel going through the golf ball so what we need to feel is once we’re in this position is that the start of the down swing is a pressure shift from the right foot to the left foot and then
We’re going to just simply rotate through and focus our attention somewhere after the golf ball that’s where we’re trying to hit we’re not trying to lift the ball in the air we’re not trying to hit the ball we’re trying to focus somewhere here that’s where we’re going to strike the ball’s just
Going to get in the way it’s going to get compressed it’s going to go out beautifully and fly really well so let me put that all together so once you’ve done a few half swing drills then you’re going to be able to put that into your full swing
And you’re going to be able to hit shots a little more like this if you would like some further help with your golf game then just DM me the word Birdie on Instagram and I’ll reach out with some information on how we can help thank you for watching this video I know
